POPULARITY

One is as a brilliant, if arrogant, boffin. These doctors are intellectuals (it is brain surgery, after all) who have very little social life. Think of Dr Jack Shephard, the protagonist of “Lost”, a television series, or Doctor Strange, a Marvel character. The other common depiction is as a mad scientist. At best, these characters perform unethical surgeries and, at worst, become cannibalistic serial killers, such as Hannibal Lecter.知识点:surgery n. /ˈsɜːrdʒəri/ medical treatment of injuries or diseases that involves cutting open a person's body and often removing or replacing some parts; the branch of medicine connected with this treatment外科⼿术;外科学 • major/minor surgery ⼤╱⼩⼿术 • to undergo heart surgery 接受⼼脏⼿术获取外刊的完整原文以及精讲笔记,请关注微信公众号「早安英文」,回复“外刊”即可。

It's the 1700s in London. Times are hard and money is low. What do you do? If you're like many, you might fence items for cash. If you're Jack Sheppard, you not only fence stolen items, you're arrested multiple times and escape from the "inescapable" jails, particularly Newgate Prison. His escapes included scaling walls with bed sheets, dressing in women's clothing, and climbing a chimney and going through 6 locked doors and a chapel.
