We kicked off the Halloween theme park season with Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland! This special ticketed event is a great way to ease into the Halloween spirit. Adults can dress up, and we dressed as R2 and BB-8 to trick-or-treat around the park and take pictures with the adorable chipmunks. Then it's on to the scarier side of Halloween at Knott's Scary Farm - a not-to-be-missed annual event! This year we took Halloween theme park newbie Peter Heitman - Sarah's dad! He joins us to discuss our adventure. What's scarier than Halloween? The news that Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple show at Disneyland will end on November 3rd after a 12-year run!! No, that's not true. It's impossible!! Let's discuss. Also on this episode: Marvel Rising: Secret Warrior Hasbro Doll Review - Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel, Patriot and America Chavez showcase a diversity of size and race. These dolls rock. Here's Sarah's write-up and Red Carpet interviews with voice cast and crew. Happy Beeps from Mark Newbold. SUPPORT THE SHOW Skywalking Force (Patreon) Exclusive Design! Some Star Wars themed hacks from our most recent trip to Disney's Hollywood Studios, on this very special day! #MayTheFourthBeWithYou It's still a few years before Star Wars Land will open at Disney's Hollywood Studios, but that doesn't mean you can't have a load of Star Wars themed fun now! Here are a few of my favorite hacks! Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/entertainment/hollywood-studios/star-wars-jedi-training/ Watch younglings train in the ways of the Force and put their skills to the test against the Dark Sides greatest villains! Hacks: - Get there EARLY! I cannot stress that enough - You MUST have your kid with you to get them signed up - Return for your show with plenty of time for your kid to get checked in and receive their instructions - This will also determine which of the villains your kid will battle during the show - Don't plan your FastPass+ too close to the showtime - Because this is an outdoor show, it is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather - Make sure you get a PhotoPass card from one of the photographers next to the stage - That being said, get a good spot to take your own pictures/video - Assess your kid and see if they are possibly too old or nervous in front of a crowd - Getting a Star Tours FP+? Get it for the end of the show since you're going to be there anyway Star Wars: Path of the Jedi: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/hollywood-studios/path-of-the-jedi-film/ A 10-minute film retelling the blockbuster Star Wars saga Hacks: - A great place for anyone in your party who is not comfortable riding a motion simulator like Star Tours to wait - Also a good place to get out of the elements if it's too hot or raining. Star Wars Launch Bay: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/hollywood-studios/star-wars-launch-bay/ Check out movie props from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, play games, snap photos, screen videos, and greet heroes and villains. Hacks: - Plan to spend some time there, especially if there's a Star Wars fan in your group - Guests with PhotoPass will get the most out of this experience - Meet Chewie, Kylo Ren and BB-8 (NEW) - Bring something to trade with a Jawa (I hear they like shiny objects, like Tamatoa) - Bring a Fiver ($5) for the penny smasher located just outside the gift shop (No pennies required) - If a Storm Trooper asks you to go with him, do it! (You can thank me later) Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/entertainment/hollywood-studios/star-wars-galactic-spectacular/ Hacks: - Position yourself in front of or between the projector towers (Follow these guidelines by WDW Prep School: http://wdwprepschool.com/the-best-nighttime-show-and-fireworks-viewing-spots-at-disney-world/) - Use the restroom before the show - Have someone in your group grab a spot while you take the kids on one more ride - If you're going to hold your kid, put them on your hip and NOT on your shoulders - Get a snack to enjoy while you wait for the show to start Any Hacks to share? Post them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the tag, #DisneyHack https://www.facebook.com/TheDisneyHack/ https://twitter.com/TheDisneyHack https://www.instagram.com/TheDisneyHack/ http://thedisneyhack.com/ Tricks and Tips for your Disney Trips!

Fangirls Going Rogue: Star Wars Conversation from a Female POV
March is the month to celebrate women. The day after International Women’s Day actress Daisy Ridley had a powerful message for those critical of her. And that starts Episode 30 off with a bang! A lot of new Star Wars-themed additions are arriving to Disney Parks: Teresa Delgado is ready for the new fireworks, Sarah Woloski teases her Kylo Ren meet-and-greet on Episode 109 of Skywalking Through Neverland, and Tricia Barr thinks Jedi apprentice Anna really let it go on Darth Vader at the new Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. For fans into expanding their Star Wars horizon, tons of new books and comics are out. The Poe Dameron comic will launch with events at local comic book stores. For the kids, Disney Publishing has a really cool Original Trilogy graphic novel and Rey’s Story, which we all enjoyed. Lots of other cool things are happening, including Bad Robot’s new diversity hiring initiative announced by J.J. Abrams, who will be speaking at SXSW. Teresa Delgado will be at the convention for his panel and the debut of Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey, which comes out with the movie Blu-Ray next month. The Fangirls discuss what movie extras we’re most excited about. It’s awards season. The Force Awakens might not have taken home an Oscar, but fans can help the movie to any number of MTV Movie Awards. Fangirls Going Rogue has also made it to the final round in several categories in the Star Wars Podcast Awards. Here’s a breakdown and how you can vote. The ladies ponder what fairy tales parallel The Force Awakens. How is Kylo Ren like Cruella DeVille? The answer segues beautifully into our character discussion, featuring Rey’s nemesis. Does redemption work for the son who murdered his father? The difference in opinion creates an interesting discussion on Star Wars storytelling.
