This OPTalks episode features a conversation between Rev. Dr. Joanne Rodríguez and Dr. Teresa Delgado, who reflects on her experiences as a doctoral student, discussing the unique challenges she faced, particularly as a Latina balancing family responsibilities and academic demands. Dr. Delgado emphasizes the importance of community support, particularly the acompañamiento that HTI offers, which she credits for her perseverance and success. She illustrates the impact of mentorship and the broader implications for women and mothers navigating the academic landscape, and its systemic challenges. Dr. Delgado also describes the dissonance between her embodied understanding of theology and the cerebral expectations of the academy. The conversation highlights the importance of listening to students' experiences and rethinking traditional pedagogical silos within theological institutions. Reflecting on Dr. Daisy Machado's work, Dr. Delgado heightens the potential of community by stating, “I'm thinking about the ways that…contemporary problems like the environmental crisis is requiring us to delve into church history and ethics and biblical studies and systematic theology across all of those, and social scientists and climate scientists draw from all of that kind of expertise to offer some kind of prophetic word into this moment.”
THE GANG IS BACK TOGETHER! In a special episode, Teresa Delgado joins Tricia Barr and Sarah Woloski to reminisce on 10 years of Fangirls Going Rogue. We're not just going to walk down memory lane. Old interviews with Dave Filoni, Vanessa Marshall, Tiya Sircar, and more highlight some of the paths Star Wars storytelling has taken. In our first interview with Dave Filoni years ago, Filoni talks about being fascinated with Sabine Wren's Darksaber training. It seems like AHSOKA brings his favorite storyline full circle. That and more insights in this for retrospective. This is definitely a must-listen episode for Star Wars fans!

Everyone is likely to experience grief at some point in their life. Grief is difficult. It is painful, scary and life-altering. My guest today is Teresa Delgado, a certified Life and Health Coach, who helps those who have experienced loss navigate their grief journey. While Teresa coaches in many life areas, her decision to help others through their grief comes from her own personal experience with loss. In 2006, Teresa lost her three small children and her mother in a car accident. As you can imagine, her grief journey has not been easy. She came frighteningly close to not surviving the pain. That is why Teresa has developed her signature grief program, “One Step, One Breath: A Life-Line Through Grief”. Through her program, Teresa compassionately guides her clients, not only through their pain, but also toward, once again, finding purpose, peace, hope and, yes, even joy. Buckle up! Fangirls Going Rogue: Star Wars Conversation from a Female POV
While Fangirls Going Rogue started with a combined love of the Star Wars films, it is undeniable that the animated shows have been a crucial part of our journey with the franchise. When Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse) penned their op-ed in Variety following the year's Oscars slight of animation, it provided a topic near and dear to the team. Teresa Delgado, Sarah Woloski, and Tricia Barr sit down to discuss why animation and film are symbiotic art forms, and why Star Wars proves that point. Stay tuned to the end for an important announcement. Preaching for the Fifth Sunday of Lent, Teresa Delgado, Ph.D., redirects our attention toward the systems, powers, and structures that use that use vulnerable people for their own benefit: "How is it scandalous to say that Jesus enacts no punishment, no condemnation, for an 'adulterous' woman, that he just lets her go; yet not scandalous that the religious power structures of the time could have accused an innocent person, condemning her to death, just to prove a point? What responsibility do we have in undoing the systems and structures that make it all too easy to drag a vulnerable person to the middle of the square to be stoned for all to see and participate?...As we journey through these final days of Lent, I pray we have not become so desensitized to the harm done by powers and privilege, because we are so much more focused on shaming the 'sinner' rather than dismantling the structures that make such shaming all too easy." Teresa Delgado is Director of the Peace and Justice Studies Program and Professor and Chairperson of the Religious Studies Department at Iona College (New Rochelle, NY). She received her doctorate from Union Theological Seminary in New York City, under the guidance of the trailblazing womanist theologian Dr. Delores S. Williams. She has published on topics ranging from diversity in higher education, transformational pedagogies, constructive theology and ethics, and justice for racially, ethnically and sexually minoritized persons.

Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee! That can only mean one thing… it's time for BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS! The spell has been cast and Teresa Delgado of Fangirls Going Rogue and Disney Vault Talk joins us to talk about this much-loved 1971 film. Sherman Brother's music, animation meeting live-action and some glorious 1970's revolutionary effects make this film an instant classic. Sarah and Teresa grew up with Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Richard is now the newbie, just watching it for the very first time. If you've never seen it or haven't watched in awhile, here's a plot refresher: During the Battle of Britain in 1940, Miss Eglantine Price (played by future Mrs. Potts - Angela Lansbury), a cunning witch-in-training, wants to help the war efforts and use her supernatural powers to defeat the pending Nazi invasion. Miss Price sets out to accomplish this task with the aid of three orphaned children who have been evacuated from the London Blitz. However they need the last spell from magician/steet performer/Witch school sheister Emelius Brown (played by David Tomlinson who is best known as Mr. Banks from Mary Poppins). Together, the crew uses an enchanted flying bed to find the missing spell and foil encroaching German troops. STEP IN TIME: Remembering Disney's Matinee Movies is back and this time we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1975 classic film - Walt Disney's THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG! J oining us on this journey to the old west are special guests Steve Glosson and Teresa Delgado of Disney Vault Talk. They bring their brand of fun and fond memories to the conversation while Richard reminisces about his first childhood crush, Celia (Stacy Manning), and Sarah watches the film for the first time in her life. For anyone else who has not seen this film yet or hasn't seen it in a while, here is a refresher on THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG. Bill Bixby (The Incredible Hulk) plays Russell Donovan, a slick gambler duped into taking care of a trio of mischievous orphans named Bobby, Cloves and Celia. Meanwhile, outlaw wanna-be's Tim Conway (The Carol Burnett Show) and Don Knotts (Andy Griffith Show, The Incredible Mr. Limpet) are out to rob anyone they think has anything worth stealing. Set in the Old West during The California Gold Rush, it's a fun ride. The children miraculously strike it rich, but that's when bad guys come out of the woodwork to steal the gold. It's up to The Apple Dumpling Gang to keep it, and their home with Russell Donovan, safe and sound. Hilarity ensues, and so does our conversation. Exactly how does a show roll from The Apple Dumpling Gang into the 80's sex-romp comedy, Porkey's?
