After several off-air discussions and reading articles, the Ladies are finally ready to talk about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. What the heck happened? Is 616 broken somehow? Is Wanda wrong or right? Also, how cool is America Chavez? *SPOILERS* for the entirety of the MCU.
Dr. Strange finally gets a sequel after appearing in the MCU 4 times already. This time as the title says, he dives right into the Multiverse… of Madness. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochiti Gomez, Rachel McAdams, and featuring Patrick Stewart, Anson Mount, Lashana Lynch, Hayley Atwell, and John Krasinski as members of the Illuminati. Directed by Marvel Movie alum Sam Raimi. This movie jumps right into the action with a multiversal variant of Dr. Strange trying to save America Chavez from a demon. Here it shows she can open up portals that allow her to travers the multiverse, albeit without any way to intentionally navigate it. She inevitably runs into the Dr. Strange we all know and love, and he tries to protect her. Realizing that the forces following Chavez are a form of witchcraft, they go to the only witch they know, Wanda Maximoff. Unbeknownst to them, it was Wanda all along… not so much Agatha. No catchy song to go along with this one. Wanda is being warped by the Darkhold, a book of dark magic, and is searching for a way to reunite with her kids she lost at the end of the Disney+ series WandaVision. This movie is fun, exciting, and just what the Marvel doctor ordered. Fans of Sam Raimi will no doubt see some of his signature filmmaking in this movie including his car's cameo, and of course Bruce Campbell. There is a lot to enjoy about this movie, but for better or worse, the most notable is the Illuminati. Seeing Patrick Stewart as Professor X again was a delight. Everyone was speechless, pun intended, when Anson Mount reprised his roll as Black Bolt. But the best kept secret and biggest surprise was John Krasinski, who's already been fan casted into the roll of Reed Richards, showed up as Reed Richards!! The big question is, will we see these characters again with the same actors? The Brothers Brotastic give this film 2 tickets. We are on board with the MCU through and through.

Billy? Tommy? Is that you? Reed, Charles, Blackagar? Where are we? This must be another dimension, but what is this madness? Whether the Scarlet Witch is dreamwalking through dimensions or snapping the necks and destroying the Illuminati, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will never be the same... and one thing is for certain, that's for the best!Pat, Bryan, and BeeJay have congregated at the nexus of all realities to track down Doctor Strange. Or maybe they're looking for Protector Strange. But could it actually be Sinister Strange that is pulling the strings? The only thing that is for certain is that they are ready to kick star shaped portals through the multiverse and end this madness once and for all. They kick off this episode chatting about their highlights from the 28th entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From Sam Raimi's signature filmmaking tropes and horror, to the queer representation of America Chavez (regardless of whether it went far enough or not), to the musical battle that tickled Pat in all the right ways, this movie had some great things going for it. From there they tackle the things they wished they could have changed about this film from the pacing, to the tonal shifts, to maybe reducing some character's screen time, they don't hold back how they felt. The last round of conversation focuses on conjecture and speculation about where this leaves Doctor Strange and Wanda and what they would like to see come down the line in the rest of phase four and beyond. Did the boys feel the same way as you, or did the madness kick in and they got it all wrong? Listen in and then share your opinion in the comments! Script Apart listeners, fortify your minds – this week, we're joined by Michael Waldron, the screenwriting sorcerer supreme behind Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Directed by Sam Raimi, this latest Marvel blockbuster is superhero storytelling with the handbrake off. A cosmic adventure packed with inter-dimensional chases, one-eyed squid monsters and motivational talks from zombie corpses, this 28th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe well and truly lived up to the “madness” of its title. The film follows surgeon-turned-superhero Stephen Strange as he attempts to protect a young hero, America Chavez, with the power to open portals between locations in the multiverse. It's a journey that sends the wizard on a horror movie-descent into darkness and violence, as familiar characters from the MCU make shocking lurches into villainy. Wrestling all of that into some kind of coherent story would be challenging for any writer. Luckily, Michael was pretty well-prepared for such a task, despite having been roped into the project at the last minute following the departures of original writers Scott Derickson and C. Robert Cargill. Michael had prior experience bringing complex sci-fi concepts to life with a lightness of touch, having written for the hit animated series Rick and Morty. He was also on the Black List a few years ago for a genius spec script called The Worst Guy Of All Time, And The Girl Who Came To Kill Him. That screenplay contained a lot of the unrelenting momentum and time-hopping shenanigans that we see in Strange 2. It also helped, of course, that he was the head writer on Loki, the Marvel series that introduced the multiverse concept in the first place.Michael told us how the darkness of the Covid-19 pandemic helped him craft that second act surprise. We also discuss how hard it was to balance the terror and tragedy of a certain witchy character in this movie, and address the meaning of the question “are you happy?” that Doctor Strange is faced with again and again in Michael's screenplay. Even superheroes, it seems, experience dissatisfaction and feelings of “what now? Is that it?” The film is out today on Disney+ so be sure to watch it before you dive into this spoiler special.Script Apart is hosted by Al Horner and produced by Kamil Dymek. Okay straight up, this episode is about Doctor Strange, Wanda Maximoff, and America Chavez. In season 2, episode 15 of Champion Casters, Michael and Joe talk about a Sam Raimi directed Doctor Strange movie that's more about Wanda, and America Chavez just happens to be in it. This movie and episode functions as a direct sequel to the WandaVision series. If you have not watched that series or listened to our episodes about them, please go do that. You will be lost. That being said, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is not so much a multiverse movie as it is a horror movie. We can thank Sam Raimi for that and it's honestly one of our favorite aspects of this film. Doctor Strange is in this movie, and he does have an arc--it's just not as prominent as Wanda's. Tune in to find out why. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/championcasters/message

It's a special Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness bonus episode! Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff, now Scarlet Witch, must contend with what they both have done to the Multiverse. What do we think of a horror film in the MCU? We also share your thoughts, too. As with any of our breakdowns, this episode DOES contain spoilers. Full Synopsis: The film opens as America Chavez and an alternate version of Doctor Strange flee through the space between universes to find the Book of Vishanti to stop a demon chasing them. (The Book of the Vishanti contains spells of defensive magic and is indestructible. Its counterpart, the Darkhold, contains all the knowledge of black magic). Chavez makes it to Earth-616 and is saved by Doctor Strange and Sorcerer Supreme Wong. She tells them that she is being hunted because she has the power to travel through the multiverse. They soon realize it was Wanda who is hunting Chavez down to gain her power so she can cross the multiverse and find her kids, Billy and Tommy. When Strange refuses to surrender Chavez, Wanda attacks Kamar-Taj, killing many acolytes. Chavez then accidentally transports herself and Strange across the multiverse to Earth-838. While searching for help, Strange and Chavez are arrested by Earth-838's Karl Mordo and brought before the Illuminati, which consists of Mordo himself, Captain Peggy Carter (from the animated series, What If?), King Black Bolt (who is part of the Inhumans), Captain Maria Rambeau (from Captain Marvel), Doctor Reed Richards (from the FF), and Professor Charles Xavier (from the X-Men). Mordo believes our Earth's Strange is dangerous, but before they can pass judgment, Wanda arrives and kills the Illuminati, except Mordo. Strange and Chavez escape with help from Strange's ex-fiancé Christine Palmer, who is an Illuminati scientist in this multiverse. Escaping from Wanda, the three enter the space between universes to find the Book of Vishanti, but Wanda appears and takes over Chavez's mind, using her powers to send the others to a sinister, mostly-destroyed universe. Strange and Palmer fight the sinister universe's Strange, who has been corrupted by the Darkhold. Strange uses this Darkhold to dream-walk into the corpse of the alternate Strange which remained on Earth-616 and save Chavez. Unable to overpower Wanda, Chavez instead transports her back to Earth-838, allowing Billy and Tommy to witness her evil. The kids are terrified by Wanda, who is there as the Scarlet Witch, but after realizing how much death and destruction she's caused, Wanda uses her powers to destroy all copies of the Darkhold throughout the multiverse, seemingly sacrificing herself in the process. Before Christine returns to Earth-838, Strange tells her that he still loves his universe's Christine but has always been too scared to have a real relationship. America begins training as a sorcerer at Kamar-Taj. Today In Star Wars History: Part 1 - January through June is now available for pre-order!! Click here for all the details, packages and discounts.
