After only 4 weeks - the blink of an eye - it's all over. The best Star Wars story since the Original Trilogy has graced our screens and left us in awe. These final three episodes weren't able to reach the emotional highs of last week's arc, but that wasn't the goal. Instead, it provides time to look back at what brought us here, and sets the stage for the climax of the story to take place not in this moment, but within the now recontextualized film that birthed all of this in the first place, 'Rogue One'. And while the show may carry Cassian's name on the title screen, it's been the cast of characters we've met along the way that truly elevated this experience. Not to pick favourites, but in particular, Luthen and Kleya, who get an episode all to themselves this week are the standouts. And what an episode it was, as their story which shepherded much of the series came to an end, as we all expected it would have to. Embracing those feelings of closure, in the final moments of the series, as Cassian flies off into 'Rogue One', we are treated to our last glimpses of our heroes and villains. From Dedra to Vel and even Perrin, we are left to consider their fates as the story marches with inevitability into what begat all of this way back in 1977. Will we ever see Kleya, Vel, Wilmon, or Bix again? One can only hope - and rebellions? Well, they're built on hope.

"May the Force Be With You," and also May The 4th Be With You.The Holmes Brothers head back to the world of Star Wars to review The Prequel Trilogy. We're back with another Trilogies episode. The films in the trilogy include Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). Revenge of the Sith is currently being re-released in select cinemas to coincide with its twenty year anniversary. Before the rights of LucasFilm and the world of Star Wars were sold to Disney, George Lucas came back to finish the Star Wars saga with the Prequels. Whether you like the films or not, cinema and visual effects technology caught up with Lucas's vision and he was able to tell the full story in the way that he envisioned. He could finally show Podracers, Gungans, the planet Coruscant and also show how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. There was a lot of hype and expectations around these films. Back in 1999 before the release of Episode I, people would buy tickets to other films just to see the trailer and then leave. This is way before YouTube. Today there has been a slight reappraisal of the films from some corners of cinema fans and lovers of all things Star Wars, compared to the critical bashing they all got during their original releases from fans, filmmakers and critics. The films were not as popular as the Original Trilogy. They did not receive the same love and acclaim at the time and a lot of the criticisms the films got were due to the writing, storytelling, characterisation and sometimes the VFX. Now many years later, where do you think we land on the films? Listen to the episode and find out.We hope you like this episode and stay tuned for more Trilogies episode. The next episode will be on The War Trilogy, directed by Italian filmmaker Roberto Rossellini.Be sure to check out our Monument Valley Film on our YouTube Channel, the famous location is featured briefly in one of the films.Anders's screenwriter work can also be seen in the western The Outlaws, The films is a available to watch in America , parts of Scandinavia (e.g. Denmark, Finland) & the United Kingdom on Amazon and also Apple TV. How does Star Wars help us understand resistance and maintain hope in challenging times? In this timely episode of Star Wars Generations, host Matthew welcomes back Paul Hoppe for a deep dive into the themes of rebellion, resistance, and the ongoing fight against oppression through the lens of Star Wars storytelling. The conversation explores how Star Wars has evolved from presenting "good versus evil" narratives to tackling more complex questions about resistance movements. How do people move from hopelessness to action? What makes someone willing to stand up against oppression? Through analysis of key moments from the original trilogy, The Last Jedi, Andor, and other Star Wars media, Matthew and Paul examine how the franchise portrays the messy realities of rebellion.A central focus emerges: what happens when hope seems lost and "no one is coming to help"? The hosts draw parallels between General Organa's abandoned call for aid in The Last Jedi and real-world movements for change, discussing how communities can maintain hope while acknowledging harsh realities. The discussion culminates in an analysis of Andor's groundbreaking portrayal of rebellion, examining how it presents multiple valid but conflicting approaches to fighting oppression through characters like Mon Mothma and Luthen Rael.Other key topics covered:The evolution of Imperial imagery and metaphors from the Original Trilogy to modern Star WarsHow Anakin's fall in the prequels mirrors modern authoritarian mindsetsThe role of fear and hope in both Star Wars storytelling and real resistance movementsComparisons between fictional rebellions and historical liberation movementsThe importance of community and collective action in effective resistanceThe complex moral choices faced by characters in Rogue One and AndorWhether you're a lifelong Star Wars fan seeking deeper meaning in the saga or someone looking for hope and inspiration in difficult times, this episode offers thoughtful perspectives on how Star Wars continues to help us process and understand the ongoing struggle between oppression and resistance.Note: This episode would normally have been released on Thursday, November 14th, but we decided to move it up given its relevance to recent events. The post-Original Trilogy era takes root in Marvel's Star Wars comics this week with the launch of the 12-issue The Battle of Jakku maxi-series, a sprawling run that's poised to bridge the gap between the just concluded Star Wars and Darth Vader runs with whatever's due to come out in February, and does so in a dramatic, if not menacing fashion.Insurgency Rising #1 (of 4) sets up twain stories in the immediate aftermath of the second Death Star's destruction, bringing to comics key figures from the Aftermath trilogy of novels, the 2015 Star Wars Uprising mobile game and legacy characters like Leia and Luke, with readers poised to learn the events leading up to the fateful final fight over Jakku. It's been a longtime coming, this new story. Freed from the tiny little raccoon hands of the Ewoks, our heroes immediately split up and start really moving the needle on the main plot of the Original Trilogy. Buckle in losers, we've got a redemption arc, a Death Star to destroy, and heroic (carnivorous) teddy bears! After 160 episodes of Growing Up Skywalker, we finally hit the end of the Original 3. The moment of Anakin's redemption hits really different after seeing his entire story. This week, we had a deep conversation on the nature of the Force, cosmic death, destiny, and redemption. Next week, we're not headed into the Mandalorian Era. Instead, we're catching up on everything preceding the Original Trilogy that we missed along the way: The Acolyte and Bad Batch Season 3. The Rebellion struck..and The Empire Strikes Back. This week, join us for 00:00 to 01:06:33—the first half of 1980's “Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.” On a freezing planet, the Rebellion bides its time. On a swamp and fleeing through an asteroid belt, the Rebels run from enemies and dive into mystery. The first half of Empire Strikes Back sets an atmosphere and cadence that weaves the Original Trilogy magic. Is Empire the best Star Wars film of all time? Tune in for our thoughts on this film's critical reception, its budding romance (or lack thereof??), and the evolution of the Force. Send Us Your Thoughts: Now is the time! Tell your friends! We're carrying the wisdom of 150+ episodes of Growing Up Skywalker into our viewing of the second half of 1977's “Star Wars: A New Hope.” Turns out, we're super jaded about Luke and Han shooting down a measly 4 TIE fighters—but Leia's sass will never get old. This week, we're diving into Star Wars archetypes, tropes, and sacred plotlines. We're also doing deep dives into Leia, Han, Luke, Obi-Wan, and Vader—and shedding not a single tear for Wilhuff Tarkin. This week, we're also discussing Star Wars women on the Patreon. Join us! Hello there! Welcome from a new point of view. After more than three years watching Star Wars in universe chronology, we hit the grandaddy of it all: 1977's “Star Wars: A New Hope.” Watching this film with the context of everything that has come before it makes for an absolutely extraordinary viewing experience. Join us for 00:00 to 01:05:49—right when the Millenium Falcon is tractor beamed into the not-moon of the Death Star. We're talking hard about the veteran viewer's experience versus a new fan's; deep dives into Obi-Wan, Han, and Luke; and what's still working, nearly 50 years down the line. Nothing has proven the Growing Up Skywalker method WORKS more than watching Rogue One and the Original Trilogy back to back, immediately after Rebels. Join us in the magic! Rogue One's second half starts with a crash and gets wilder from there. From 56:17 on, we string together heroic space battles, Vietnam war techniques, and Star Wars' classically atrocious file-sharing practices. We do, indeed, both cry about X-wings. But now, the real question. Does this Growing Up Skywalker experiment work? Is the strict internal chronology the way to watch Star Wars? Welcome to the magnificent, galaxy-sweeping, planet-shattering Rogue One (Part One). From its first scenes, "Rogue One" carries weight. This week, we watched until 56:17, when Cassian's crew lands on Eadu, and talk through the thematic ties between Andor and Rogue One, the film's critical reception, and deep dives into our main characters: Cassian, Jyn, and the one and only Saw Gerrera. Plus, we talk about what's a treat for a veteran fan versus what might get a new fan lost in translation. We had so much to talk about this week that we recorded 30 minutes of bonus content on our Patreon! Head over to Spice Run, our Patreon-exclsuive bonus show, where we're covering Chirrut Îmwe, Baze Malbus, the Guardians of the Whills, and Jedha City. Well, that's it. Rebels is done. What a ride! From the epic action to the thrilling post-war coda, this episode encapsulated the true meaning of rebellion. We cried (a lot). "Family Reunion - And Farewell" (Season 4, Episode 15) pulls together everything the Rebels needed to pull off the biggest mission they've ever undertaken—the polestar of the whole series—the liberation of Lothal. Thrawn can't even hope to thwart them this time. But just as Rebels giveth, Rebels taketh away, and we spend time coming to terms with the sacrifices that Lothal's liberation required. What's next for Growing Up Skywalker? We're getting Andor and Chopper on the big screen together to figure out why the other shoe never dropped on Lothal in ROGUE ONE!!! In 2019 after 9 films the Skywalker Saga seemingly came to a close with The Rise of Skywalker. We've covered the Prequels. Then the Clone Wars & Star Wars Stories. After came the Original Trilogy before moving onto The Force Awakens and Last Jedi in the Sequel Trilogy. Join us as we take a look back at a film that had saw many feeling a collective sense of "meh" upon its release, but time can be both hard and kind. Where did we sit then? How do we feel about it now? Secrets only the Sith know? Time to join Rey, Finn, Poe and Chewbacca for one more ride.
It's time to break out of jail, kick some Locust ass and GET THAT RESONATOR!! We discuss the recently announced Gears of War E-Day and then deep dive into the original EPIC trilogy we all know and love. Put em' up sucker, this my kinda shit.

Tonight, the cast reviews the three films that changed movies forever - Episodes IV, V, and VI of the Star Wars saga!
We all have our favorite moments from the original Star Wars trilogy and on Episode 214 we discuss ours. Our challenge is to pick our Idiot's Array (top 3) of moments. Picking only three moments over the course of three movies ain't like dusting crops. It's hard and dangerous work. So which moments will we choose? And which will we blast into oblivion? We hope you'll listen along and choose your favorites too. We would be honored if you would join us!
