News: With the new Lilo & Stitch movie debuting to record numbers, there is a bit more Stitch around than usual. A new Stitch sipper is available at the Galactic Grill for $25.99, which comes with a fountain drink of choice. New Magic Shots featuring Stitch photobombing you at the Main Entrance, and near Sleeping Beauty Castle. In Disney California Adventure, you can be photobombed on Buena Vista Street, the Cloud Wall on the Pixar Pier bridge, and near the waterfall by Grizzly Peak. Phineas and Pherb are meeting and greeting in the Hollywood Backlot. Agent P joins them on Saturdays only. This is part of the new season premiere on Disney+ and Disney Channel June 5th. – https://www.micechat.com/416185-disneyland-update-parades-parties-patriotism-as-summer-starts/ Last year a new PhotoPass experience premiered at the resort. PhotoPass Excursions are back again! The excursions are 8-15 minute private photo shoots with PhotoPass photographers in Adventureland, Frontierland, Main Street, and Fantasyland. Magic Key Holders with free PhotoPass, guests with Lightning Lane, or with the daily PhotoPass are able to take part. – https://www.micechat.com/416185-disneyland-update-parades-parties-patriotism-as-summer-starts/ Last week, we reported on the music box-style music in the esplanade to go along with the sculpture. This week, the slower music box music has been replaced with a mix of classic Disneyland music, and vocal tracks from the Disneyland 70th celebration. The music box music isn't completely gone though – it plays each night at 10pm as a post-fireworks “kiss goodnight.” – https://www.micechat.com/416185-disneyland-update-parades-parties-patriotism-as-summer-starts/ Even with the Disneyland 70th in nearly full swing, there are still some construction projects happening around the resort. Mendocino Terrace in Disney California Adventure is still being worked on, while outside in Downtown Disney, Earl of Sandwich is coming along quickly now, and the old Tortilla Jo's is all but leveled. – https://www.micechat.com/416185-disneyland-update-parades-parties-patriotism-as-summer-starts/ The Little Man of Disneyland, Patrick Begorra, is setting off to another land in the park. Tables have been setup around the resort for fallen soldiers, with an empty place setting, reminding guests of the soldiers who did not make it home. The Flag Retreat ceremony in Town Square was larger then usual to honor the day. We're back to answer an awesome variety of questions straight from our Facebook page and community group! From practical planning tips to some really fun hypotheticals, this episode is packed with listener-driven content that blends helpful advice with plenty of playful Disney banter. We kick things off by talking about how we personally keep the magic alive in the parks—even after countless visits—and which EPCOT festival stands out as our favorite and why. Jason asked where to find the best quick service and sit-down breakfasts, while Jennifer wanted to know if Lightning Lane is even necessary during the slower days in January. We also take on a fun round of favorites, sharing our go-to snacks and rides in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, and even admit which Disney characters we crushed on as kids. Longtime listener Anthony asked how the podcast came to be, and what Jeremy does for his brother—something we've mentioned before but never really dug into. Then there's a great question about park hopping and how to make the most of a quick 3- or 4-day trip—perfect for anyone who can't take a full week off. Olivia sent in a deep Disney thought, wondering if all the plates and utensils in Beauty and the Beast were once people… and what happened to them after the curse was lifted? We also dive into nostalgia, talk about our experiences with cast members at Disney vs. Universal, share which rides we wish included PhotoPass, and even get to dream up a ride of our own. And of course, there's a fun magical twist: if each of us got three genie wishes—what would we wish for? With a mix of heart, humor, and helpful tips, this episode is a celebration of you—the Main Street Magic community—and the questions that keep the magic going.MEI-Travel – Expertise. One of the Red Car Trolleys has been donated to the foundation to support their mission of helping students discover STEM and STEAM careers. The bad news is that this means that it is likely not coming back at DCA. – https://www.instagram.com/p/DIFBaXARVYm/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I know we are a Disneyland podcast, but I feel that we need to talk about the dragons, monsters, wizards, turtle shells and banana peels in the room… This week, influencers were invited by Universal Studios to experience their new theme park in Florida – Epic Universe. The duo also dives into some heated debates: is it better to splurge on a deluxe resort and save in the parks, or stay at a value resort and go all-out on park experiences? And when the heat hits, would you rather cool off on a water ride like Kali River Rapids or in the AC comfort of a show like Country Bear Jamboree? Later in the episode, we're joined by our special guest, Emily, a cast member who's worked at Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and recently started with PhotoPass in Hollywood Studios. If you want to take great photos of your Disney outfits at Walt Disney World, there are five great spots that will consistently deliver exceptional photos for your social media feed or personal photo album. Want to be Disney fashion influencer? Here's how to get started with great Disney style photos. The Five Best Photo Spots at Walt Disney World to Show Off an Outfit What to Consider to Get the Best Photos of Your Disney Outfits at Disney WorldThe best time for photos under natural light is first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon (which generally will provide softer golden lighting. Overcast days and shaded areas are also great for providing picture perfect diffused and muted light. So if you are serious about getting a great photo for your social feed or to become a fashion/style influencer, get to your photo spot first thing in the morning. This will provide the best lighting and the lowest crowds. By going early, the lower crowds mean that, at worst, you can use AI great to remove one or two errant people in the photo. But beyond one or two people, it can get trickier. Unless you are going for the blurred crowd effect (which is something to try if you find yourself in that situation). Focal length, aperture and the distance to your subject can all affect how the final photo turns out. Plus, for scenic views you need to consider whether the background will be busy or uniform, and whether it will be blurred or more in focus. All of this makes a difference in your final photo. You can adjust much of this in post production using apps, but the more that you consider up front, the less work you will have to do later. Five of the Best Outdoor Scenic Photo Locations for Disney Style 1. Cinderella Castle As a classic icon, Cinderella Castle has several vantage points that are perfect for unique and stylized fashion shots. This does not include the standard head-on shot from Main Street (where the PhotoPass photographers are positioned). Look for a unique angle on either side of the castle, with some good spots towards the back. 2. Grand Floridian Resort Disney's Grand Floridian Resort offers a ton of first rate outdoor photo spots. From sprawling green lawns, to great florals and tropical gardens, to beach photos and backgrounds of Seven Seas Lagoon, you can always find a great photo spot here. Of course, the white and red color palette of the majestic buildings are also picture perfect. 3. Disney Boardwalk The Walt Disney World Boardwalk has a number of options for unique and interesting fashion and style photos. From benches on the wooden boardwalk, to vistas of the Crescent Lake and the Yacht and Beach Club hotels in the distance, you will have the potential to get a ton of great shots here. If you are looking for that magical late afternoon golden hour sunlight, the Boardwalk area is perfect for that photo-friendly natural lighting. 4. EPCOT: Morocco Pavilion, France Pavilion, By the fence around to World Showcase LagoonWhile EPCOT has no shortage of first-rate photo opp locations for fashion and style photos, there are two or three that stand out as top picks to explore. At the very back of the Morocco Pavilion, you will find a wonderful location with great lighting, interesting backdrops and few crowds. Nearby in the France Pavilion is another great area where you can capture some fashion and style photos featuring the charm of old Europe. For the France area, you will need to go early in the day for the optimal nature light and the lowest crowds. Also in EPCOT, the blue water of World Showcase Lagoon can make a nice blurred background. Finding a location along the black iron rails next to the water can make for some excellent photos, assuming you time it right with the sun low in the sky or on an overcast day. 5. Animal Kingdom: Harambe Marketplace area, Animal Kingdom (Fichwa Fellow Wall, with Mickey Mouse, You are Most Beautiful wall) Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, the Harambe Marketplace are is filled with colorful backdrops and unique textures that can make for some excellent photo opps. The great thing about this area is that unlike some of the other popular Disney photo wall locations (which don't have enough room to create distance between the camera, subject and backdrop), the Harambe area provides the perfect opportunity to set up for some great fashion photos. Planning Your Disney Fashion Photos in Advance is Worth the Effort Putting some thought into the photos before you take them will make a difference in the end result. If you are aiming to get some like-worthy fashion photos for your Instagram or social feed, then the extra effort and thought will pay off.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Welcome to Episode 4 of The People It Takes! In this weeks episode, our host, Lauryn Squyres, sits down with cast member and friend, Lily. Lily started in the Disney College Program in 2022 in Photopass where she and Lauryn originally met as fellow cast members. She is currently in her second program in a role that would seem far down the ladder from photopass, yet seems to enjoy it more. Lily is proof that being one of The People It Takes isn't just about the role you're given, but more so, the experience, attitude, and outlook you put into it. We hope you enjoy this episode at Animal Kingdom Lodge, we are SO happy you're here. ALL opinions and experiences are our own, I, as well as my guests, do not speak on behalf of the Walt Disney Company in any way.
This week, Easter has come to the resort in a number of ways, some hot items have moved to mobile order, new PhotoPass costumes, along with new ways to use PhotoPass, we talk with Teresa about her trip to Florida, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: Almost as much of a tradition at Disneyland as the Candy Canes at Christmas are the Easter Eggs! This year, instead of guests lining up to get one, they are sold through mobile order only. Mobile ordering opens up around park opening time, so be sure to check a little early if you want to be sure to snag this treat. They are for sale on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday for $14.99 each. – https://www.micechat.com/381195-disneyland-update-balancing-magic-with-reality-spring-surprises-disappointments/ One of our favorite Easter traditions is happening again this year, with a slight twist. The Eggstraviganza is back for guests to test their skills finding Disney character themed eggs throughout the resort. This year, the prize that you collect at the end is not an egg like in years past, but an egg-shaped character charm. To get a map and participate is just $9.99. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Balancing Magic with Reality – Spring Surprises & Disappointments (micechat.com) The newish must-have treat at Harbor Galley is now on mobile order. The fresh baked chocolate chip cookies can now be ordered, bypassing the long line that forms for these warm treats. The cookies are still available for walk up order as well. Get in on the mobile order early, as on busy days, mobile order slots go quick! – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Balancing Magic with Reality – Spring Surprises & Disappointments (micechat.com) New PhotoPass Costumes have arrived at the resort! The new outfits are more breathable than the previous version. As with many of the costumes for cast members recently, there are options for the photographers to choose from. There are a variety of hats, jackets, and vests. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Balancing Magic with Reality – Spring Surprises & Disappointments (micechat.com) https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/03/04/first-look-at-new-disney-cast-member-costumes/#more-913347 A new PhotoPass option has come to the resort that could be a lot of fun for guests! The “photo safari” is a PhotoPass option where guest line up on the Frontierland bridge and wait for a PhotoPass photographer. Your group then gets the photographer for 10-15 minutes for no additional charge. The PhotoPass cast member will take you anywhere you want to go in Adventureland, Frontierland, or nearby Fantasyland to take multiple photos. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Balancing Magic with Reality – Spring Surprises & Disappointments (micechat.com) An annual tradition is coming back to the parks on July 21st this year. The annual Children's Hospital of Orange County – or CHOC – walk is a charity walk that has been taking place at the resort for the last 32 years. The event was moved to July to better allow teams of families be able to participate while not missing school, or back to school events. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/02/29/you-can-take-part-in-a-disney-tradition-this-year-find-out-how/#more-911746 More construction has happened between New Orleans Square and Critter Country. The Haunted Mansion queue expansion and Tiana's Bayou Adventure are both going full steam ahead. {talk about the changes/updates} – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Balancing Magic with Reality – Spring Surprises & Disappointments (micechat.com) SnackChat: St Patrick's Day Foodie guide – Disney Eats: Foodie Guide to St. Patrick's Day 2024 | Disney Parks Blog (go.com) Discussion Topic: Teresa and Vern's time in Walt Disney World

Please stay tuned for more details on “good-to-go” days. This is a step in the right direction for local AP holders, but doesn't help you much at all if you are an out-of-state WDW AP holder who books weekly vacations multiple times a year. It was Colombia's rich biodiversity that inspired the magical ability of the “Encanto” character Antonio, who has the power to communicate with animals. Snorkeling among the Rosario Islands, a collection of 27 islands home to more than 1,300 species of marine animals, vibrantly colored fish and plants. Exploring Avonlea Village, the fictitious community central to the Anne of Green Gables stories, and enjoying tea with a descendent of author Lucy Maud Montgomery's family. Learning about the indigenous Mi'kmaq Peoples during a visit to the Millbrook Cultural Heritage Centre and gaining first-hand understanding of their Talking Stick sacred practice. Mickey's Toontown has been pushed back from March 8th to March 19th due to weather delaying the work. - https://www.micechat.com/307775-disneylands-toontown-closing-in-2022-for-enhancements/ Last week, Disney held their quarterly earnings call where Bob Iger commented about adding more capacity to the theme parks. He mentioned that with the success of Avatar at the box office and at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida, that an Avatar Experience would be coming to Disneyland in the future. What was left question was in what form this would take place! - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Also on the earnings call, Iger addressed the higher pricing and capacity mix. He stated that they are listening to guests who feel that they are being priced out of the parks by lowering prices on some of the experiences. He also mentioned that he didn't feel that the annual increase in ticket pricing was too much above the rate of inflation at Disneyland. In regards to the capacity mix, they have been aiming for more of the mix to be once in a lifetime guests who spend more in a single visit that passholders. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ - https://www.ocregister.com/2023/02/09/disneyland-ticket-prices-have-not-really-increased-that-much-in-recent-years-disney-ceo-says/ There has been a rash of mis-spellings of signs and statues all over the resort since the Disney100 started to roll in. Incorrect years on attractions and movie premiere dates, coming soon signage on Indy, and the Mickey statue in town square with "It all started with a mouse" instead of "It was all started by a mouse." Disney has been quick to fix these snafus around the parks. There was a new one for the Super Bowl cavalcade that came and went without a fix, mentioning "Main Stret" instead of "Main Street." - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Even more things are coming to the resort for Celebrate Soulfully at Disney California Adventure. Moon Girl from the new Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur on Disney+ will be coming for some meet and greets. Guests who are there when she premieres will get to see a cavalcade and stage show for that day only. - https://twitter.com/Disneyland/status/1623734510465478664 - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/02/moon-girl-magic-comes-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ Fans of Catal and Uva bar should get their last visits in soon! The location will be closing mid-April to transform into Centrico and Paseo, a new up-scale Mexican restaurant. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Can you believe that Disney California Adventure turned 22 this past week? To celebrate, the Disneyland App has a limited-time PhotoPass+ lens through February 21. The lens transforms guests into a Newsboy from the show that has still has yet to return to the park. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Part of Steakhouse 55 could be reopening soon! The curtains that we reported on being in place a couple of weeks ago have come down and the lounge part looks ready to welcome guests. MiceChat reports that staff is already training for the location. No word on a reopening date. The restaurant section of Steakhouse 55 has seen no updates. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Finally on the call, Bob Iger noted that of the 7,000 job cuts that are taking place around the company, none of them are expected to impact park operations. This is good news since the parks are already not back to fully staffed since reopening after the COVID closure. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/disneys-workforce-cuts-to-impact-all-sections-of-company-will-not-impact-hourly-park-operations-cast/ There had been some confusion with the ending to World of Color - ONE. Guests were unsure when the ending of the show was and would start to leave at the long pause just before the main finale. It appears that Disney has updated the show to tighten up the ending, making it more clear when the show was actually over. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/video-world-of-color-one-finale-changed-due-to-guest-confusion-at-disney-california-adventure/ Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway has been a great addition to Disneyland and with it came some new looks for Cast Members. Now, the rest of Toontown has some colorful costumes to match! Taking a cue from Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, the costumes are mix and match for the cast members to pick an outfit that they like and can personalize. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/first-look-new-mickeys-toontown-cast-member-mix-and-match-costumes/ Discussion Topic Russell Flores, Author of Seen, Un-Seen Disneyland https://www.facebook.com/seenunseendisneyland/ https://www.instagram.com/seenunseendisneyland/ https://sudbooks.company.site/

La Brea Bakery announced the closure of the Downtown Disney and all other non-airport locations to focus on their partnerships with distributing their baked goods. Star View Station will have a mid-century space theme and have areas for seating, device charging, free wi-fi and more. It will be located on the second floor of what is now the Star Wars Launch Bay. This points to the liklihood that a Tomorrowland renovation, if there was one, would not include knocking down this building. – https://www.micechat.com/331420-disneyland-news-fancy-new-dvc-lounge-headed-to-tomorrowland-next-year/ Magic Keyholders have some additional discounts available from September 21st through October 14th. At certain locations around the resort, the merchadise discount has been increased to 30%. Two highly visible areas were just converted and look pretty good. The Haunted Mansion, which just returned in it's holiday form had it's grass replaced, and arguably the most visible grass around the floral Mickey in front of the train station on Main Street has also transitioned to the new terf. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/09/01/disneyland-rolls-out-the-green-carpet-with-more-artificial-turf-around-the-park/ With the return of Halloween Time at Disneyland, the monsters are taking over Mission Breakout once again. Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark is back this year. For those of you who may not know, after 4pm the attraction is taken over by monsters and becomes a little more scary and thrilling. – https://www.micechat.com/324041-disneyland-halloween-time-and-oogie-boogie-bash-guide-2022/ Somehow we had completely passed over what the gingerbread house design was going to be this year in the Haunted Mansion Holiday! The cavalcade features a lot of characters, with heroes and villains represented, in their Halloween costumes as they go trick-or-treating down the parade route. – https://www.micechat.com/331802-disneyland-news-photo-update-everybody-scream/ The villains are really throwing quite a dance party in Tomorrowland each evening. From 7-11pm each night, a DJ will play some spooky tunes while dancers, villains, and guests dance the night away. There is a break from 9:15-10pm during the fireworks to be aware of. – https://www.micechat.com/331802-disneyland-news-photo-update-everybody-scream/ One of the most fun and unique things about getting photos from PhotoPass photographers is the magic shots available. For the Oogie Boogie Bash, there are two new options. The first is Zero, Jack Skellington's ghost dog, and the other is Oogie Boogie himself as a shadow over the full moon. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/09/06/these-exclusive-disney-magic-shots-are-positively-ghostly/ As with most holidays celebrated at the resort, there is more new collectibles available for Halloween Time. First up is a new Mickey Pumpkin Globe Sipper, which features the pumpkin Mickey like on Main Street. The globe sipper is available at various quick service locations for $20.79. The Dream Key, which was the top end key when the program started and had no blockout dates has been retired and replaced with a Inspire key, priced at $1599. New perks added to the high level keys include parking discounts, free PhotoPass, and Genie+ discounts. – https://www.micechat.com/330375-disneyland-magic-keys-everything-you-need-to-know/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/ Last week, Disney had their quarterly earnings call and reported some great news for the theme park division. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products reported quarterly revenue of $7.4 billion, up from $4.3 billion a year earlier. Last year, Disney Cruise Line was still shut down and the parks were still recovering, but this is still great news. However, there was one comment that made Disneyland fans upset. They stated that Genie+ and Lightning Lane increased the per capita ticket revenue, “partially offset by an unfavorable attendance mix at Disneyland Resort.” This led to Magic Key holders getting upset online about being unfavorables. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ MagicBand+ hasn't come to Disneyland just yet, but there is already a new interactive game under construction that uses the technology. Batuu Bounty Hunters has already launched in Walt Disney World's version of Batuu, and will launch at Disneyland when the MagicBand+ system launches by the end of the year. The game will require the Play Disney Parks app and a MagicBand+. The MagicBand+ will change colors depending on if you are heading in the right direction and change to purple when the bounty is found. WDWNewToday had a great writeup about the game, which we have linked in the show notes. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/08/star-wars-batuu-bounty-hunters-game-station-is-under-construction-in-disneyland/ and https://wdwnt.com/2022/07/batuu-bounty-hunters-galaxys-edge-magicband/ Weeklyteers who want to know what is going on with ToonTown, we have an update for you. MiceChat has posted some new aerial photos of the work going on back there. Goofy's house has been repainted, the area where the new CarTOONial park will be has been cleared, along with all of the paving in the land. Images posted on Instagram show two Autopia vehicles had somehow been driven on top of one of the concrete barriers. This would have been extremely difficult to do by accident as the cars are limited to 5mph. The two vehicles appeared to have been pushed up onto the concrete by colliding into one another. Cast members were unsure how this happened when they came across the scene. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/08/autopia-accident-leaves-ride-vehicles-derailed-and-damaged-at-disneyland/ Some new menu items are coming to a popular eatery in Galaxy's Edge. Docking Bay 7 will have the new menu items starting the day this episode goes live. The items include a new Cold Brew with Taro Topper, which is a nitro cold brew topped with sweet Taro cream. The other item is the Gungan Broth Noodles, which has Roasted Pork, Angel Hair Pasta, Bok Choy, Mushrooms, Yuzu-Tomato Compote, and a Pesto-Tonkatsu Broth. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/15/new-menu-additions-coming-soon-to-docking-bay-7-in-disneyland/ We reported a couple weeks ago about a couple of new hand pies at the resort. Now, it seems that they are all over the place and with almost as many varieties as churros, if that is even possible! Guests can get a strawberry hand pie at Candy Palace, Lemon at the Honey Spot, Blueberry at Trolley Treats, Raspberry at Bing Bongs, and Guava at Marceline's in Downtown Disney. Reports online have been extremely favorable to the new line of treats, especially the pastry part. – https://www.micechat.com/329376-disneyland-update-part-2-flying-high-over-toontown-construction-sweet-treats/ Guests have been unhappy with the paper straws in the parks for some time now. Now, there is a new eco-friendly option availalbe at teh Candy Palace on Main Street. The new straw option is an edible straw which comes in three flavors; strawberry, lemon, and lime. Each straw costs $1, and the DIsney Food Blog reports that they don't get mushy like the paper straws. For Weeklyteers who would like to try these at home, Amazon.com also sells the same brand online. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/09/yes-we-paid-to-eat-our-straw-at-disneyland/ A shop in New Orleans Square is getting a new mix of products from a different vendor. Pluto's Pumpkin Persuit is coming back this year. Like in previous years, guests can purchase a game board to start hunting for the deorated pumpkins scattered around Downtown Disney. Once all the pupkins have been found, the completed game board can be turned in for a special surpise. Last year it was a choice of plastic sipper. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Detail oriented guests may have noticed some changes to some grass areas of Main Street recently. Some of the sections have been replaced by artificial terf. Based on the lack of rainfall in California, this might be a good replacement for the greenery. The new terf is almost indistinguishable from real grass and will require less upkeep. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Fans of the “I Am Groot” series on Disney+ can now get a new magic shot with their favorite baby Groot charater.
