A markedly improved effort from the Eels saw the Blue & Gold prevail in hot and humid conditions at Ipswich. The 26-16 trial victory over the Gold Coast Titans has Parramatta much better positioned for Round 1 than a week ago and Sixties and Forty20 discuss their takeaways from the 10-point win. The Tip Sheet goes back-to-back off the public holiday as Sixties, Forty20 and Clint talk NRL & news. The boys take a final look at Parramatta's sweep of the Bulldogs before celebrating Mitchell Moses and Junior Paulo earning selection for the Blues. One of the most fascinating team sheets of the season was released and it answered the question of who will replace Moses in the halves. 'BA' has a plus sized answer as Ryan Matterson returns from injury to don the #6 for the Eels. 'Matto' partners Daejarn Asi while Joe Ofahengaue also returns in a massive double boost for the Blue & Gold. The news gets even better when it is revealed that Wiremu Greig is just 6 weeks away from a return! The Cup and Flegg are doing it tough at the moment and the show looks at the why of it all before Sixties unloads on the NRL for a bizarre draw that sees the Eels as the only club to not receive a beneficial bye during any of the three State of Origin games. The NRL news focuses largely on State of Origin but the boys also look at Jake Arthur getting the nod to start against the Eels. Shane Flanagan is set to be the next head coach of the Dragons while Trent Robinson and the Roosters are feeling the heat in 2023.

Brad Arthur has tasked Ryan Matterson and Daejarn Asi with the responsibility of steering the Eels around the park on Saturday. Sixties and Forty20 look at how the newest iteration of the spine will operate. Matterson wasn't the only Eel to make a return, Joe Ofahengaue is back to boost the forwards while official club media has Shaun Laune pegged as an outside chance of playing. The boys talk about how both players will impact the team. The NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg squads have both been on tough runs in recent weeks. 'Muggo' shares some astute insights and cracking stories with the boys ahead of a crucial game for the Eels with a much needed bye in reach. The boys then reconvene after full time to break down a gritty win for the Blue & Gold with the home team prevailing 24-16. The snake-bitten Eels battled through another injury setback this week with new recruit Joe Ofahengaue only seeing 10min of play before leaving the field with a calf injury. Sixties and Forty20 look at how the Eels overcame a vastly more focused North Queensland outfit this week and discuss who helped win the day - including another career defensive highlight for Dylan Brown.

The first Origin split round has arrived as the Parramatta Eels host the North Queensland Cowboys on Friday night. Departures, arrivals and debuts - there is plenty to talk about this week on The Tip Sheet as Sixties, Forty20 and Clint get stuck into another week of NRL news. It starts with the news that Jake Arthur is now a Sea Eagle. The boys discuss Jake's time with the Eels and what lies ahead for him at Manly. Joe Ofahengaue is a Parramatta Eels, although the Tigers made the Eels sweat on the Team List Tuesday deadline for it to happen. State of Origin has taken its toll on the NRL with players from both states in camp ahead of Game 1 in Adelaide. There were surprising selections for both sides and the boys look at the gambles made by Slater and Fittler ahead of a massive series for both coaches.
