But, with the Roosters also missing several star players, are they ripe for a loss in this one? The boys also dig into some of Shane Richardson's quotes on departed hooker, Tallyn De Silva. Another Tough Time For Wests Tigers Fans

Just when things look like turning at Wests Tigers, we seem to end up back in the doldrums. As things stand, there's not much to be happy or optimistic about, and yes, that does come through on this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. After surrendering to an under-strength Manly at Brookvale Oval on Friday night, Wests Tigers fans are now braced to lose another young prospect, Tallyn Da Silva. Reports say the young hooker, touted by former coach Tim Sheens as a generational talent, has played his last game for us. But, in true Wests Tigers fashion, we really could use him, at least this weekend, with Api Koroisau being unavailable due to a failed HIA. Up for discussion on this edition of the podcast is the logic of letting Tallyn go to another club mid-season (although we struggle to find much logic in it). The effects of letting players walk mid-season with nothing or very little in return. We ask, why should the club's loyal members keep tipping in their hard-earned cash when the club consistently gives up on seasons at the mid-way point? And will the team, after six straight losses, now drop its bundle completely? Or, will there be a turnaround? There's a strong list of 'One Word' submissions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, ranging from "Depressing" to "Confused" and 'Groundhog Day". Despite the woes, there are a couple of positives discussed, including another win for the NSW Cup team and the performances of the Fainu brothers on Friday night. Eddie has a new game to bring us as well. Unfortunately, it is another post-loss edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, but we hope that you do enjoy it. The Wests Tigers have once again lost a game by just a handful of points at Campbelltown Stadium. After a somewhat disappointing first half, Wests Tigers trailed the Raiders 0-16 at halftime in the Friday night clash. Some positional changes and the injection of a young star off the bench saw the Tigers get back in the game, scoring two quick tries after the break. But the more fancied opponents held on for a 12-16 win. The game comes on the back of mostly improved performances from our boys, but at least one member of the Wests Tigers Podcast team believes there's still one critical component missing - that killer instinct. Have a listen and see if you agree or disagree, and as always, have your say on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Also on this edition of the podcast, we share a great post from a Wests Tigers fan on Facebook, and this generates a debate on many aspects of the club we love. Also up for discussion is the performance on Friday night of the Fainu brothers. We also examine the other notable aspects of the Tigers' performance. The bench and some individual efforts come in for some scrutiny, too. Maybe on a not-unrelated topic, do we try and get Kai Pearce-Paul from the Knights this week? That deal would include letting Tallyn Da Silva go up the M1 on loan. See what the Wests Tigers Podcast team thinks of that possible move on this edition. There's also a plethora of one-word contributions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum too. Things were looking pretty bleak for Wests Tigers fans after about an hour in Townsville. However, trailing by a significant margin, the boys managed to regain some respectability with a late surge that fell just four points short. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes, Garry Watson, Steve Stretton, and Nick Hayes try to make sense of the 32-28 loss. There were some worrying signs, there were some classic Wests Tigers-only moments, and then some real flair and potency in attack. So, where exactly are we as a football team? There's also a look at some of the promising performances from individual members of the team, including Starford To'a, Tony Sukkar, and Charlie Staines. But what about the new five-eight?! Heath Mason grabbed that number 6 jersey and did a lot right, both with the ball and in defence. So, what do with do with Latu Fainu this week? The boys try and answer that question on this edition of the pod. There are, of course, lots of 'One Word' submissions from members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, including one that brings up a left-field coaching suggestion. 'Peter A' from the forum reckons we should make a coaching change and bring in the former Eels coach, Brad Arthur. Another discussion on the podcast circles the refereeing, and we ask the question - does Benji need to burn $10,000 to get some respect from the officials? Or, as some members of the pod believe, are we ultimately responsible for the way we get treated by the referee? There's also some good news from the lower grades with wins recorded over the weekend. The question is, is there anyone we can call on to replace the HIA-affected Alex Twal? Yes, it's another post-loss edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, but we hope you enjoy our take on things, and don't forget you can join the conversation now on the forum.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers didn't get flogged, but it was still a disappointing night for fans on Sunday. Taking on injury-hit South Sydney, there was hope our boys could keep that important 50% win record alive heading into the bye. It wasn't to be, though, with Souths getting home 22-12. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Steve Stretton and Eddie Otto to pull apart the most recent Wests Tigers Performance. Some of the key issues up for discussion include: Our lack of direction Our lack of impact Our poor execution Our lack of variation in most of our plays There's also the topic discussed that seems to be on most Wests Tigers fans' minds, and that is recruitment. Why are we watching a promising season slip away without strengthening some of the obvious weaknesses in the squad? There are a couple of positives on the agenda, though. It can be hard to find too many things to get excited about as a follower of the club right now, but we found a couple. These are, namely, the ongoing contributions being made by Sione Fainu and the impressive work of Tony Sukkar on Sunday evening. Joel Helmes, Eddie Otto, Steve Stretton, and Garry Watson are on deck for this later-than-usual post-game edition of the pod. As we know, Wests Tigers succumbed to the Eels on Monday afternoon. That result leads us to some big questions that we try to answer, including: When it comes to big events like this, why don't we often turn up as a team? Should we play home games against the Eels at CommBank Stadium? Did the club make some mistakes last week in regards to Lachlan Galvin? There are plenty of other things that get discussed as well, including the lies and manipulation in the rugby league media. What is stopping Jarome Luai from being more dominant in attack with the Wests Tigers? And we run through all the 'One Word' submissions from our valued Wests Tigers Podcast Forum members. Steve and Garry also let us know how the big Ambush event at Commbank stadium went, including info that came from guests Latu Fainu and Jeral Skelton. It's a bit of a different version of the Wests Tigers Podcast this time around, and we hope you enjoy it.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Lachlan Galvin saga has continued this week, leading to this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. After a strong debate after the story broke on Monday night, followed by more analysis by Eddie and the boys on Wednesday, we now have this third pod for the week. We take a look at the press conferences held by Benji Marshall, then Wests Tigers' captains, Api Koroisau and Jarome Luai. Joel, Garry, and Nick give their thoughts on what was said and why we're starting to see the potential positives of testing out the coach and players' responses to a situation like this. Most importantly, comparing that response to what we have seen in the past from our club and playing group. Is this going to be the issue that finally helps turn Wests Tigers into a more focused and battle-hardened team? Let's make a statement against the Eels! We then turn our attention to the big Monday afternoon clash with the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium. The Easter Monday fixture looks set to be a memorable encounter with the Wests Tigers no doubt out to tell the world they're bigger and better this year, with or without Galvin. The stats show Wests Tigers should be firm favourites, and the Eels have also lost a few players in recent days, but they do welcome back Mitch Moses for the game. We also look at the reshuffle of the Tiger's team, including the move to the halves for Adam Doueihi, and hopefully the remergence of Luai in Batman mode. The return of experienced centre Brent Naden also draws our attention. Big guests at the Ambush. Don't forget to get along to the free Ambush event before the game at CommBank, with two special guests ensuring it should be a memorable experience. Jeral Skelton will be a guest, as will Latu Fainu, and Garry will get the chance to interview both injured Wests Tigers stars. What we hear from Latu should be of particular interest! We hope you enjoy this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers Podcast has had a bit of a reshuffle with regular programming put on hold this week. That change is because of two different reasons: the boys don't play until Easter Monday, and then there's Lachlan Galvin. After a debate on Monday night on the future of the 19-year-old half, where quite polar opposite opinions were aired, have things changed in the ensuing 48 hours? In other words, is someone going to say on this podcast that, in fact, "Joel was right"? You'll have to listen to this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast to find out. Who's on the show? Eddie Otto is hosting and is joined by Steve Stretton, while Declan McCutcheon and Nick Hayes get a chance to have their first say on the Galvin saga. Some of the questions the boys look at include the obvious one - where does this go from here? If Galvin does get off at the next bus stop, who do we need to target as a replacement? Does that need to be someone to play in the halves? And how will this affect our season? Could it even be a positive in regards to camaraderie among the playing group and a more settled offense on the field? Don't forget to join everyone over on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum to have your say! A bit get for the Ambush! How's this for a get? This Monday's Ambush fan event at CommBank Stadium will see man in waiting, Latu Fainu, join the boys for an interview. Joined by fellow injured Wests Tigers star, Jeral Skelton, get along to that event to hear firsthand from Latu and find out his thoughts on his future alongside Jarome Luai in the Tigers' halves. Attendance to the event is free and will take place at the CommBank Stadium Bar inside Gate B from 2:30 pm. We hope you enjoy this rejigged mid-week pod, and we'll have a preview pod for the Eels game for you later in the week.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast has warmed up and had last words from the coach! Eddie Otto, Nick Hayes, and Garry Watson are ready to run out onto the podcast field...but there isn't much Wests Tigers news to discuss. That means we've had to call in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to see what topics this 21st-century marvel produces for us. What we do know is that the Tigers are sitting at two wins and two losses so far in season 2025, and Nick and Eddie share their thoughts on Sunday night's Warriors match. Roster Changes at Wests Tigers. Also on the agenda (though not an AI suggestion) is the announcement by Wests Tigers of three roster changes. The changes see Solomona Faataape upgraded to the NRL Top 30 squad, and one Wests Tigers Podcast member believes this move might have been strategic to make way for a young star. While Izaac Tu’itupou and Krystian Mapapalangi are also joining the club on training contracts, both have limited NRL experience. The boys give their thoughts on all that. There's also a look at how the NRL's crackdown on accidental head-high tackles might affect the Tigers (as if it hasn't already!). Under the microscope is a look at reports of a five-year, five-million-dollar contract offer on the table for Lachlan Galvin from our club. A win would have also given the club three straight victories, an achievement not seen around these parts in eight years! But, it wasn't to be, with injuries, refereeing, and a fired-up Warriors side colluding to spoil the party. What's on the podcast? On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast we bring you all the 'One Word' submissions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. As Steve says, many apt one-word descriptions of that game just aren't fit for broadcast on a classy pod like ours! We take a deep dive into the 26-24 loss and look at the areas that cost us, the things that leave us worried, and the issues that continue to plague the team (someone say 'physicality'?). But it isn't all doom and gloom as there were some signs that despite the loss, the Wests Tigers are trending in the right direction. Recruitment discussion also features. Yes, we take a look at where things are at recruitment wise for the club, with the discussion centering around trying to strengthen the squad for the short and medium terms. We have money to spend and places to fill, so what are the best moves to make at this point as we sit two wins and two losses and a growing list of injuries (and a suspension)? And Garry and Steve give us a great wrap up of what sounds like a terrific Ambush event held before the Warriors game. Then they launch into discussion around the future of Wests Tigers prop-forward, David Klemmer. What to do with big Klem? There is talk that the veteran front-rower might have played his last game for the club. Is it a good move by Wests Tigers to let him go and join the Dragons this close to the kick-off of the season? The boys also discuss what we should do with his roster spot and salary if he does depart for St.George-Illawarra, should we be looking for a second rower instead? Also, does the move leave us light-on upfront, and should we consider Francis Molo as a replacement? Next up, Parramatta. Then the discussion turns to this Friday night's second NRL trial with the Wests Tigers taking on the Eels at Leichhardt Oval. Up for discussion is the selection of Alex Twal at lock, Adam Doueihi at halfback, and the captaincy for Alex Seyfarth, among other topics surrounding this game. Lastly, it's the return of Eddie's version of Buy, Sell, or Hold with topics ranging from trial ticket prices to the fortunes of Wests Tigers Coach Benji Marshall if the team has another poor season. Don't forget that you are invited to join the discussion on everything Wests Tigers, including your thoughts on each edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. It was great to see the Wests Tigers in action on Sunday, though most of our star players were absent. This edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast is a look back at the 20-14 (four tries to three) loss to the Bulldogs at Kogarah. As per tradition, we start with a healthy list of 'One Word' submissions about the trial from members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Then we look at some of the positives to come out of the game, including the impressive performances of guys such as Kit Laulilii, Solomon Saukuru, and new buy, Jeral Skelton. These good showings might make for some rethinking of the round one Wests Tigers team, along with this Friday night's trial against the Eels at Leichhardt Oval. Other positives? It is fair to say that the Wests Tigers look fitter than last year, while there seems to be some real class coming through in the next generation of playmakers. While the strong performances from Royce Hunt and Brent Naden in the Indigenous All-Stars game also give us reason to be optimistic. More questions than answers Joel Helmes, Garry Watson, and Nick Hayes, also look at some of the head scratches that still exist, including: Sione Fainu, is he a chance of playing on an edge in the NRL? What will Tim Johannssen's future bring? Who will play fullback in Round One if Bula isn't available? What is going on with Justin Olam and his knees? If he is out, who will play centre for Round One? Is Luke Laulilii out for an extended period? Some things to be concerned about too. On the other side of the coin, the boys raise some concerns out of the trial match, including the performance of a couple of guys who we thought might be genuine NRL prospects this year. We hope you enjoy this first post-match edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast for 2025 and don't forget to join the conversation right now at the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum! After a long off-season Wests Tigers are back in action in the first trial of the 2025 NRL season. The Wests Tigers will meet the Canterbury Bulldogs at Netstrata Stadium (Kogarah Oval) for the trial match at 5pm this Sunday. Ahead of that match, the Wests Tigers Podcast team take a look at the side selected by Benji Marshall, and what our expectations are of the team. Mix of youth and experience Benji has named familiar faces including Lachlan Galvin and David Klemmer for the match, while new recruit Jeral Skelton will also feature on the wing. On this edition of the pod, Joel Helmes, Nick Hayes and Garry Watson put under the microscope the naming of those three likely first round NRL players. Is there anything more to read into their selections? While a whole group of rising stars will also represent the Wests Tigers, including Heath Mason, Latu Fainu, and Tallyn Da Silva. All eyes will also be on round one hopefuls, including Tim Johannssen, Tony Sukkar, Sione Fainu, and Justin Matamua. Sione Fainu was named as an edge forward, does that mean he's a chance of grabbing that seemingly vacant second row spot in the NRL team? A few names missing Also up for discussion is the whereabouts of a few guys that we thought might feature in this first trial, including Adam Doueihi, Starford To'a and Charlie Staines. Does their exclusion mean they're being considered for the NRL team? Brent Naden may have also featured in this game, however he, along with Royce Hunt and Reuben Porter, are on 2025 All Stars duties. While this edition of the podcast wraps up with a quick game of Buy, Sell or Hold with some serious questions around fan expectations and recently departed Wests Tigers players, and a not so serious question about a missing podcast host! The football is so close you can just about touch it, buckle up for a huge 2025 Wests Tigers season with the Wests Tigers Podcast! and don't forget to join us for lots of great Tigers' discussion through the season on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers Podcast teamed up with colleagues from several other Wests Tigers pods, social media platforms, and supporter groups to say, "Enough is enough." The issue we've all been fighting for under the 'Wests Tigers Unite' banner is a review into what we all believe is the archaic and undemocratic debenture group utilized by Wests Tigers majority owners, Holman Barnes Group (HBG). After launching the joint public campaign, including commencing a petition calling for the review, the Sydney Morning Herald confirmed a probe into the HBG's governance had been launched by Liquor & Gaming NSW. This is a huge result and means that hopefully, Wests Tigers can benefit from the implementation of review recommendations, including the appointment of highly skilled independent board members. Working together under the Wests Tigers Unite banner are groups and individuals including: Rob Bechara (Wests Tigers Life Podcast) Tiger Town Podcast The Ambush support group Wests Tigers Forum Save Leichhardt Oval group And, us here at the Wests Tigers Podcast & Forum. So, we thought we would get together and record a podcast that could be shared across the different podcasts. This edition features Rob, Zac from Tiger Town, Will (Spartan 117) from Wests Tigers Forum, and Garry Watson and I. We hope you enjoy this unique collaboration podcast where we talk about the action, the investigation into HBG governance, the flaws in the debenture system, and what the future might now hold for the club we all love, Wests Tigers! Today we are taking the first step into launching action to change the governance of the majority shareholder of the Wests Tigers, the Holman Barnes Group (HBG). This action commenced after the HBG board (controlled by Magpies die-hards Julie Romero and Dennis Burgess) dragged its feet over introducing and adopting the full recommendations from the external review into the governance of the Wests Tigers. We fought so hard for that review in 2023 and it only came about because you supported our petition. This time, we intend to make our action much bigger and louder than the Wests Tigers Podcast and we will be calling on all Wests Tigers social and media outlets to support this action, potentially under the banner of 'Wests Tigers Unite'. Make sure you catch this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast to get a better idea of what is happening at the HBG. We also discuss the importance of making our campaign bigger and bolder than our 2023 action. And we outline exactly what it is that we want to achieve, and why it is so important for the Wests Tigers that these changes are made. We intend to launch the petition in the coming days, it will be available on the home page of the Wests Tigers Podcast website and will also be shared on our Facebook group and the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Ahead of this action, we again ask that you take an interest in this important matter as it is the final hurdle in giving the Wests Tigers the ownership and governance that will help the club we all love thrive. It's been a bit of a roller-coaster ride for fans of the Wests Tigers in recent weeks and this latest edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast represents that. As the heat of Summer starts to hit, the Wests Tigers continue to be in the headlines, and this time around it's all about the contracts of some of the club's most valuable players. How these details came to be in the media remains a whole other thing! Joel is joined by Steve, Nick, and Garry to look at a rumour that broke last night - Lachlan Galvin having apparently re-signed a new deal with the club (still yet to be anything other than a rumour). But then there is a look at the revelation Jarome Luai could start to negotiate with other clubs in just 11 months! The four-time Premiership winner is coming to the Tigers on a five-year deal, but with player options for the final three years of that contract, and that news has hit a lot of us for six! Should the club have disclosed these terms when he signed? Does it make him any less committed to the cause? And how will the media target this when/if things get tough next year and beyond? We discuss all that. There are similar terms and conditions built into Jahream Bula's contract too (also leaked to the media by unknown sources last week), we put this situation under the microscope too. On a brighter note, we talk about the signing of the club's biggest-ever sponsorship with a new major sponsor, Pepper Money. We take a close look at the encouraging comments made by our new recruit Terrell May on the James Graham podcast, have another quick look at back row options for 2025 and this brings up some Brandon Smith discussion too. We hope you enjoy this big off-season edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast and welcome your feedback via the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
