Kennedy Cherrington and Rachael Pearson were both honoured with awards as the show celebrates their recognition. Summary: Giddy up, friends, and join us for a ride into the wild world of horses. Holly has been a lifelong Horse Girl and Devin spent a decade taking horseback riding lessons, but neither of them have been as involved with the animals as any of the characters in their featured books today. For better or worse, a life revolving around horses can be all encompassing and high pressure; our hosts highlight the good and bad in their respective wheelhouses today. Topics Discussed: The Dagger (6:39): Holly discussed Girls and Their Horses by Eliza Jane Brazier, a thriller perfect for anyone looking to read about rich people behaving badly. We follow two teenage sisters, Piper and Maple, and their mother, Heather. as they move to an exclusive community in the heart of Southern California. Once there, they begin riding at the Rancho Santa Fe Equestrian, where horses (and murder) are a lifestyle. Holly's key takeaways were: From the start we learn that someone is dead, and then Brazier weaves us through the lead up to the incident with alternating perspectives from Heather, her daughters, and other “Barn Moms” at the stables. There are distinct socioeconomic themes and dynamics in this book; Heather is newly wealthy and determined to give her daughters the life she never had, but the established families in the community are suspicious and judgemental. This book is full of characters that are flawed, hurt, downright unlikeable and their internal challenges clash against their peers as they feed their ambitions and fight for what they believe they deserve. The Heart (21:44): Devin discussed Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage, a novel following professional barrel racer Emmy Ryder as she returns to her hometown of Meadowlark, Wyoming after an accident renders her unable to get back on her horse. Once there, she's met with more than she expected as her brother's best friend, Luke Brooks, becomes more than just an occasional thorn in her side. Devin's key takeaways were: If you're looking for some horse energy, this is the book for you. Emmy's family owns Rebel Blue Ranch which raises cattle, horses, gives riding lessons and embraces the classic western vibes. Luke and Emmy spend most of their time around horses and the deepening of their romantic dynamic is part and parcel with those interactions. The story does not hold back on the steam front; this book is almost shockingly sexy and involves dirty talk. If you're looking for a more subtle, closed door romance vibe, tread lightly with this book. If you're not, join Devin for an absolute blast. Sage has ADHD herself and worked hard to bring more authentic representation of the disorder with Emmy. Both she and Luke have traumas and experiences that inform and block their connection that they work through together to grow as people (and together). Hot On the Shelf (45:32): Holly: The Searcher by Tana French Devin: Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver What's Making Our Hearts Race (50:00): Holly: The Night Of on HBO Devin: Mr. and Mrs. Smith on Amazon Prime Instagram: @heartsanddaggerspod Website: www.heartsanddaggerspod.com If you like what you hear, please tell your friends and rate and review us on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so that we can find our perfect audience.

We're back with the first book review of the year, which just so happens to be the viral sensation Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage. Emmy Ryder is coming home to Meadowlark, Wyoming after an injury… that her family doesn't actually know about. She's helping out around the family ranch and winds up spending more time with her brother's best friend, Luke Brooks. Emmy thinks Luke is an irresponsible playboy. But is he? Emmy's going to find out. Is the book overhyped? Absolutely not—totally worth the hype. Is it hot as they say? Absolutely yes—also totally worth the hype. Also discussed: serial unaliver romance, why Rae isn't allowed to pick movies anymore, and Veronica's upcoming book. The Wests Tigers are back in action this weekend with a tough road trip to face the Cowboys. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto is joined by Steve Stretton and Garry Watson for a look at our chances in that match. The Tigers are struggling again, and are missing key personnel including Api Korisau and Luke Brooks. So, is there a chance? The guys give their opinions on the Round 18 match. Speaking of Luke Brooks, the outgoing Wests Tigers five-eight/halfback has broken his silence on his departure from the club. Eddie, Garry and Steve have their say on some of the interesting revelations Brooks has made about his impending 2024 switch to Manly. On the same topic, what is going on with our recruitment? At this stage it appears to have completely stalled. So, with no 2024 signings locked in (as far as we are aware), should we be starting to hit the panic button? Is the retired Michael Morgan a realistic option? Is the reported dysfunction within the admin of the club costing us recruits? And has Scott Fulton's recruitment into the club been a failure? The boys have their say on all that. There's details too on tomorrow's Ambush event at Wests Ashfield, and Yioti's Quiz! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After a week of reports and rumours, finally we know what is happening with Wests Tigers veteran, Luke Brooks. It was announced yesterday that the long-serving halfback/five-eight was making the shift across the Spit Bridge to Manly. Brooks has signed a four-year deal with the Sea Eagles and is taking Wests Tigers teammate Tommy Talau with him. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes, Eddie Otto, Declan McCutcheon, and Garry Watson all get to have their say on the move by Luke Brooks. Is it a good day for the Tigers? Is the chance now to move on with someone new better than sticking with a guy that probably just hasn't consistently met his potential at our club? Is it a good move for the player? And, of course, what does this mean for Wests Tigers halves in 2024 and beyond? We give our one-word assessment of the Luke Brooks decade at the club and invited members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum to also contribute to that as well. We also discuss the rumoured signing of a young Manly star in return - Latu Fainu, as well as his brother, backrower Samuela Fainu. There's also a look at whether the Brooks signing might mean Josh Schuster also becomes a free agent, and whether he is someone we should be chasing. And we touch on the rumours that Benji Marshall is unhappy and apparently isn't too keen on taking over as Wests Tigers coach in 2025. Fingers crossed the next edition of the pod actually has some signing news that features a player coming our way, in the meantime, please enjoy this big edition. Kris Gale has been a Wests Tigers player sponsor since 2004 and has recently become a Wests Tigers Foundation 13 member. Like his Fire Up! co-host Stephen Ferris, he has a background in music including running an independent label, Risky Records, and establishing Hey Now!, a successful Sydney electro DJ crew, whose most well-known alumni is multiple ARIA nominee, Hayden James. In addition to Fire Up!, Kris co-hosted a rugby league show, The Back Row, on Triple M in 2017 and a sports variety show, Weekend Legends, on Triple M in 2018/19. The boys use the bye week to take a deep dive into season 2023 thus far. Topics include: The offseason player changes Has the new coaching regime been a success? The emergence of young players Jahream Bula and Tallyn Da Silva The controversial moments such as the release of Joe Ofahengaue and Luke Brooks rejection of the Wests Tigers What the future may hold for the Wests Tigers Join us as Kris Gale brings his irreverent take on Rugby League to the Wests Tigers Podcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Wests Tigers can put last week's frustration and disappointment to the side with a win over the Storm this weekend. Melbourne, weakened by State of Origin, could be ripe for a loss, that's despite the Storm cleaning up the Sharks last round. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto and Garry Watson preview that clash with the Storm. Luke Brooks is again on the agenda, this time with a chat about the Cowboys knocking back any prospect of the Tigers junior heading north. Is this just a manager trying to up his client's price? Is there a chance Brooks will stay with the Tigers, despite already rejecting our contract offer? Garry gets to have his say on the appointment of Scott Fulton and the possible dysfunction occurring in the club's senior management. Listener feedback features too with lots of comments and questions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. There's also a discussion around a story that broke yesterday afternoon about the potential upgrade of Leichhardt Oval. Digital images showing a rebuilt main stand, a new Northern stand, and updated terraces have been released by the Inner West Council. The only thing needed now is funding commitments, about $100 million dollars worth! The boys look at the proposal and discuss whether this is the right thing for the ground and the club. Eddie and Garry also discuss the potential debut of young hooker, Tallyn Da Silva and the selection of Stefano Utoikamanu in State of Origin. There's also a preview of the next Ambush event on this weekend ahead of the Melbourne Storm clash at Campbelltown. And don't miss Yioti's Quiz!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The boys recap another round including the top-of-the-table clash in Brisbane (08:09), a stunning upset in Bathurst (28:03), and a gritty Bulldogs win (40:58) before finishing with some news of the week (48:35).
