Shrug off the cloak of secrecy and awkwardness around death with palliative care nurse Pippa White. I've been wanting to bring a death convo to the airwaves for ages, because there's a huge imbalance between light/dark, above/below, waxing/waning, growth/decay, possessing/relinquishing energies in our culture (and I'm the first person to perpetuate it). Shout out to everyone who sent frank and thoughtful questions for Pippa to answer – you'll hear them towards the end of the ep.Pippa White is a palliative care nurse and death care advocate and educator in the Anthroposophical tradition. We discuss:
Crime and poverty have plagued Philadelphia since William Penn's day. Philly gun violence interrupter Mazzie Casher has historic yet modern solutions. He visits with Citizen writer Malcolm Burnley to discuss some of them.

The CHGO Bulls crew discuss freshly sourced rumors that the Chicago Bulls will not keep Coby White and Josh Giddey, but only one of them. Matt Moore of Hardwood Paroxysm reported in his Substack that multiple Eastern Conference personnel figures believe the Bulls are “unlikely to retain both Josh Giddey and Coby White.” Assuming the Bulls sign Giddey to a long term contract in a few weeks, what does that mean for White? Will the Bulls shop him this summer, or perhaps keep him until the 2026 in-season trade deadline? What will Arturas Karnisovas seek in return if he does decide to move on from Coby? Peck, Big Dave and Will Gottlieb break down all the possibilities. Plus, the guys debate whether “The Shrug” is the most iconic Bulls moment - or even the most iconic NBA moment - on the Anniversary of Michael Jordan going bananas from downtown in the 1992 NBA Finals.

Save your knees and shoulders from the little discomfort doing usual activities or some swelling and inflammation. If you aren't sure whether you need physical therapy, you should get a referral, just need a massage or to lay off for a few days, this is your episode. I'm no stranger to physical therapy, but I am a foreigner in seeking support for any issues I've got. Mine have all come from some acute trauma or injury. I knew it and the answer was obvious, maybe for you too — to save your knees and shoulders without surgery! My Guest: Dr. David Middaugh is a specialist physical therapist who helps people avoid unnecessary surgery while getting back to being healthy, active, and mobile. He coaches people online and has a clinic where people are treated in person. His contrarian treatment approaches are focused on addressing the root cause of problems like arthritis and tendon tears so that people have the most control over their health. Questions We Answer in This Episode: [00:10:58] What makes you different from other physical therapists? [00:14:12] Is it actually possible to heal osteoarthritis without surgery? [00:20:28] What is unique about how you help people with knee pain? [00:37:30] What about people with shoulder pain? What is Manual Physical Therapy? Hands-on body work to manipulate the soft tissues like your muscles, tendons, ligaments tend to be pretty good at moving the joints. Fixing the root problem of knee and shoulder pain issues through movement. Focused on fascia techniques and fascia related treatments. What Really Works to Save Your Knees and Shoulders? Knees What to work on? Glutes. If you have weakness in the glutes, that's when the quads get over dominant. The Science: Quads have been overused causing knee arthritis or meniscus tear. What to do? Do your exercises primarily with your glutes. Your hamstrings and quads will still work – they just need to work secondary. Can you figure out how to make your glutes contract apart from your thigh muscles? It's more gaining mental control over your muscles. Stop walking. Turn on your glutes first. Shoulders What to work on? Upper traps (trapezius). If you have weak traps, there is more stress and tension holding the weight of the arm, shoulders and maybe chest.. The Science: Rotator Cuff tears are one of the biggest problems because of weak upper traps. What to do? Shrug every time you reach up to use your traps. This preserves your ball and socket joint. If you don't shrug, the socket faces outwards and compresses tissues. How to find out who is lying? There exist sciences proved evident how to spot a liar. First, we should find out:Why people lie? Or why do we lie?Be honest! If we would tell everything our sweetheart,…Think this over what will happen? In a relationship should we keep a secret so that our partner doesn't get hurt? Or should we tell the truth immediately even it breaks the person? We lie to protect our friends and us from the truth. We are against lying and covertly for it, and that starts with our childhood. The truth hurts. And the truth always finds his way, regardless of how good we cover it up.We can only postpone the truth and never suppress it all the time.In the meantime, we win time. And that is good so.Lying is an attempt to bridge our fantasias how we wish to be or what we really like…In average we lie 10 to 200 times/dayWhen strangers meet each other, they lie 3 times in the first 10 minutes1.) We lie more to strangers than to coworker.2.) Extroverts lie more than introverts.3.) Men lie 8times more to themselves than to other people.4.) Women lie more to protect other people.5.) Married couples lie 10% in every underlying action why they do it.What is if we deceive or to cheat a person to profit from that?.The Corporations in the USA cheat nearly 1 Trillion Dollar per year. This is huge and even better than the organized crime! How to cheat and deceive?Find out what the people want and are hungry for…And then sell dreams and deliver B.S. like the Motivation speaker, Stock market trader. Because everybody is willing to give you something whatever they are hungry for…When you don't like to be deceived look for what you are hungry for…And recognize these Cheaters with their:1.) Easy to get rich-formula, 2.) to get healthy, 3.) to lose weight, 4.) to become attractive… 5.) to become successful. Most of all Motivation speaker, Marketing experts use our hungriness to cheat us.If we want to spot a lie, we need the reason why that person will lie. 1.) The person likes to distance himself from that subject he/she lies about.2.) We have to communicate with that person to find out if he/she is lying. 3.) An honest person is likely cooperative, open, helpful to get to the truth, provide details. 4.) A dishonest person is withdrawn, looking down, lower their voice, pause.5.) If you ask a deceptive guy to tell their story… he/she brings too many details which nobody will care for (irrelevant), and he/she illogically tells their story. 6.) Then ask them to tell their story backward… they can't. 7.) Or the liar gets fast furious about the topic, and when you change the subject, the anger disappears immediately. If you come back to the issue again anger… He doesn't want to speak or to be confronted with that problem because he has to lie. We need evidence!1.) Ask uncomfortable questions, be curious, look for contradiction, 2.) confront the person, 3.) look at how he/she reacts, 4.) are his/her emotions real and fitting to the situation? Still, remain polite and friendly; otherwise, the liar recognizes your intention.Body language signals of lying.1.) When they lie, the muscles of their upper body contracts.2.) Or a fake smile it is a reduced smile with the lips and no smiling with the eyes… 3.) Shrug their shoulders, head shakes.4.) Expression of contempt, cover up their anger.5.) One lip-corner pulls up and turns in asynchronous expression.6.) Shift their blink rate.7.) Point their feeds toward an exit.8.) They will put objects between themselves and the other person to protect them9.) They alter the vocal tone to much lower 10.) They like to speak faster and be nervous. Wall Street ended the week on a high note, marking its fifth consecutive day of gains despite US consumer sentiment sinking to its second-lowest level on record. Inflation expectations among consumers have surged to their highest since the early 1980s, adding to market jitters. Meanwhile, after-hours trading remains in focus as Moody’s downgraded the US credit rating, while commodities faced pressure from a strengthening US dollar. Oil prices managed to secure a second straight week of gains, but gold suffered its worst weekly decline since November. Closer to home, Aussie shares are set to start the week lower on Monday as investors keep a close watch on the Reserve Bank’s upcoming policy decisions. Meta and Microsoft both score quarterly profit beats on the top and bottom line, unfazed by the Trump tariff war. Qualcomm, however, sees its stock fall in after-hours trade and concern about the levies begins to weigh on its guidance. They're locked in. That's why we keep shrugging our shoulders after losses. What CAN change is their opponent. Will they face Winnipeg or Dallas?

In this episode, Bob'nJoyce share a list of OD values created by a team Joyce worked with several years ago. The list resonated with them but what matters more is if they ring true to you. These values are not exclusive to OD practitioners and apply to all of us who lead and we all lead at something. You probably won't find these values on the ODN website or in an academic leadership article. This list is borne out of hard work, determination, and yes, screwing up. Our hope is after listening, you take a moment to reflect on the values important to doing your best work. Here are a few of ours: Embrace humor.
