Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a timely conversation with Governor Phil Bryant, the State of Mississippi (2012-2020), executive advisory board member of the International Leaders Summit and founding partner at Bryant Songy Snell Global Partners. The dicussion focuses on the 77th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944, and reflecting on that historic day when 160,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline with a goal to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany and hasten the end of World War II. According to published reports, 73,000 soldiers were from the United States and an estimated 6,603 Americans were killed, wounded, or missing in action on D-Day. Governor Bryant shares about his visit to The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, a World War II cemetery and memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, and relays the significance of ensuring that our fellow-Americans understand the significance of the sacrifices made on June 6, 1944, to advance the just cause in defeating tyranny, liberating Europe and preserving our freedoms. Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site looks back 70 years, to June 6th, 1944. D-Day, the Allied landings on the Normandy area on the northern coast of France. This marked the beginning of the destruction of the Nazi war machine. On our program, we look back to that day and discuss the status of the war up to that time; the impeding invasion everyone knew was imminent. We listen to actual news bulletins from the early morning hours of June 6th, getting a taste of how Americans first heard about the invasion. We talk about how the weather and the phases of the moon were key ingredients in selecting the day of the invasion. We look at how the United States was a different place then; prayerful, and openly invoking God's help in achieving success. We finally look at two classic motion pictures that depict D-Day in different ways: The Longest Day, and Saving Private Ryan. We look back to this epic event and remember the immense sacrifice by all the men who landed on the Normandy beaches that day. Whether they laid their lives down on that day or on succeeding days, or whether they were able to come home after participating in this event that led to the liberation of Europe, all of them are heroes, and we respectfully remember and salute each of them. Please join us for this 70th anniversary look back on Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site.
