Because of wildfires affecting northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, I'm re-releasing this episode about a woman who lived in these areas: Thanadelthur. She was a Dene woman who had a profound impact on the Dene people in Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba during the eighteenth-century fur trade. Much of Thanadelthur's story is shared through oral storytelling among the Dene community. Canadian History has been under attack for the past several years. There is an obsession from woke left ideologues that we must “de-colonize” Canada. And that anything having to do with the creation of our country is inherently bad. But as the depth of cultures in Canada continues to grow can we get to a point where we can accept the fact that your history - is probably going to piss off someone else. Christopher Dummitt is a Canadian History Professor at Trent University - and he is the host of a new YouTube channel called “Well, That Didn't Suck!”. He joins Stephen LeDrew to discuss this for Three Minutes. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Fixing a politically engrained issue in Canada and living -40!Night 2 in Brazil I jumped in the pool again on my own when everyone was bored of it…as it felt like nothing short of warm tea I decided to jump out and heard someone shout “hey Wallace” and I instant recognised the person as the 2024 Nuffield Scholar with hands down the coolest title! Tatum who works in credit is from an indigenous population in north Battleford, Saskatchewan! She is aiming to look at the resurgence of indigenous people in agriculture…let me tell you the barriers people have faced purely based on their origin is insane and not too much of a distant memory yet!You can also tune in for my most embarrassing story yet in the first few minutes!A pretty bloody inspiring episode with my Canadian mother in Brazil!

In April of 2020, While the rest of the world was worried about running out of toilet paper, denturist Gabriel Wortman and his live in girlfriend of 20 years, were engaged in a blow out of a fight. This was nothing new to his girlfriend, Lisa, she was used to regularly being yelled at, assaulted, beaten and restrained by Gabriel. But on this night she was able to escape and run into the woods and hide.  What would follow, would be unforeseeable, even to Lisa, who knew what he was capable of.  For the next 13 hours, Gabriel would dress as an RCMP officer, while driving one of the FOUR replica RCMP cars that he had fixed up. He would terrorize, friends, acquaintances, and strangers alike.  Many felt as if the RCMP had made multiple crucial errors,  that had cost the lives of their loved ones. Could they have done more to keep the people of Nova Scotia safe?   This is the tragic story of the 202 shooting in Nova Scotia, Canada.Support the showIf you're interested in receiving bonus episodes, early release dates, an everything scary sticker and ‘thank you' as well as a shout out on our regular feed! 2020 commemorated the 300th anniversary of French presence on Prince Edward Island. Like much of North America, the Canadian Maritime provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island, and Prince Edward Island were highly contested regions. In fact, the way France and Great Britain fought for presence and control of this region places the Canadian Maritimes among the most contested regions in eighteenth-century North America. Anne Marie Lane Jonah, a historian with the Parks Canada Agency, joins us to explore the history of Prince Edward Island and why Great Britain and France fought over the Canadian Maritime region.
