As the New York Jets coaching search continues there are rumors that Frank Reich could be in the mix for the staff on offense. Callers share their thoughts on Reich and the defensive coordinator candidates.
The Jets are already signaling a major change for 2026, with Tanner Engstrand not expected to call plays and Frank Reich emerging as a veteran option to stabilize Aaron Glenn. Evan and Tiki debate whether Reich is a solid move or just another safe hire, and what it says about the Jets hunting for experience over upside. Then the phones light up with more Sam Darnold regret arguments, including why QB mistakes hit harder than the Saquon situation and how the Giants' draft decisions still haunt them. The hour takes a sharp turn into baseball and New York sports hierarchy as Anthony Rizzo introduces Aaron Judge as the “King of New York,” reigniting the Judge vs Jalen Brunson debate. Plus, the Knicks win again, and the guys tease a hilarious Ryan Ruocco moment that got way dirtier than anyone expected.

This week we dig into a peacoat-wearing QAnon counter-protester and end up unspooling a whole new nest of open fascists. First up: pardoned Jan. 6 figure and proud white supremacist Jake Lang, doing street-theater politics in Washington, D.C. at a “crusader rally,” complete with Nazi posturing, bizarre props, and an argument that quickly devolves into the classic far-right pastime: accusing each other of being FBI. We also track Lang's later appearance near Minneapolis City Hall, where he and his crew clash with anti-ICE protesters, and where his claims about being “stabbed” don't line up with what's publicly verifiable. Then we pivot to a very different attempt at building an “American Reich”: a neo-Nazi “urban wear” merch brand that seemingly springs to life overnight on Instagram. From “Woke Reich” prototypes to explicit Nazi aesthetics, the episode traces the rapid online radicalization of an online creator and how algorithmic attention, engagement, and audience validation can help turn grievance content into an overt extremist identity (with a storefront attached). Content warning: This episode discusses neo-Nazi propaganda and symbolism, antisemitism, racist rhetoric, and political violence. In this episode, Jess and Sarah welcome Dr. Jennifer Reich, a sociologist and researcher at the University of Colorado Denver, to examine vaccine hesitancy and recent changes to the U.S. vaccine schedule. The scientists explore the cultural and structural factors contributing to vaccine hesitancy, including American society's emphasis on personal responsibility and the intense pressure parents face in making health decisions for their children. Dr. Reich provides critical insights into the lack of transparency in recent policy changes and discusses why direct comparisons between U.S. vaccine policies and those of countries like Denmark oversimplify complex healthcare system differences. The conversation addresses unique American challenges including healthcare access disparities and diverse population needs. Despite examining serious obstacles, the episode concludes optimistically as Dr. Reich discusses opportunities for building coalitions and fostering community support to improve public health outcomes, emphasizing the shared desire for healthy children and thriving communities. Peter Robbins returns to the show to continue our discussion about Wilhelm Reich. First we discuss some happenings in the UFO world, before delving into some of Reich's theories, Orgone, connections to Eastern philosophy, sex, and even Aleister Crowley. Peter Robbins was first introduced to the books of Wilhelm Reich as a teenager by a college roommate, to whom he remains deeply indebted. In 1976 he met Dr. Elsworth F. Baker, Reich's first assistant for the last eleven years of his life. Soon after this he became a patient of Dr. Baker and entered into almost seven years of medical orgone therapy with the distinguished orgonomist. Robbins went on to enroll in the classes New York University offered in scientific and social orgonomy which was taught by the Reich scholars Professors John Bell and Paul Matthews. They in turn invited him to become a member of their ongoing Seminar in Social and Scientific Orgonomy, patterned after the seminars which Sigmund Freud presided over during the nineteen twenties. Peter spent much of the nineteen eighties involved with this group, presenting a variety of papers to his fellow seminar members under Matthews' and Bell's guidance and leadership. Peter was a volunteer fundraiser for the American College of Orgonomy's (ACO) Building Fund and had two papers on Wilhelm Reich and UFOs published in the Journal of Orgonomy. He was part of a select group of volunteers invited to witness a demonstration of cloudbusting technology and presented on the subject of Reich and UFOs at the ACO's Princeton NJ facility, and at international conferences on the life and work of Reich in New York City, Ashland Oregon, Niece France and Karavomilos Greece. His lectures have been well received at numerous scientific and UFO conferences both here and abroad while his articles on the subject have been published in a variety of print and web publications. Robbins' extensively researched paper, “Politics, Religion and Human Nature: Practical Problems and Roadblocks on the Path Toward Official UFO Acknowledgment” is scheduled to be published in the upcoming issue of Annals of the Institute for Orgonomic Science. Eric Lichtblau talks about "American Reich", an investigation into white nationalism in America today.
Enriched by extraordinary first-hand accounts, this is a fascinating history of the dying days of the Third Reich as Stalin sought to consolidate his own empire. In January 1945, the Red Army launched a powerful offensive across the Vistula River to drive the Wehrmacht out of Poland, with the intention of securing a start line for an operation that would ultimately result in the capture of Berlin and the end of the war. But, as Prit Buttar expertly reveals, there were other issues at play. Stalin was determined to push the boundaries of the Soviet Union further west, restoring land lost by the tsars and securing vast industrial and mineral wealth. While negotiations took place between the Allied powers regarding the fate of Poland, the Red Army burst through the German lines, liberating Auschwitz even as the SS drove concentration camp inmates onto frozen roads in a series of death marches. The Wehrmacht staged a desperate fight back with their last major armoured offensive on the Eastern Front. Launched in February 1945 from the German-Polish border, it forced a halt to the Soviet forces on the banks of the Oder before the rush to Berlin. Written by an acknowledged expert on the Eastern Front and packed with first-hand accounts, this is the definitive account of the strategic goals, both military and political, of Stalin, his generals, and their armies as they raced into the Reich, and of the German forces who stood in the way.Prit Buttar studied medicine at Oxford and London before joining the British Army as a doctor. After leaving the army, he worked as a GP. He is extensively involved in medical politics, both at local and national level. An established expert on the Eastern Front in 20th-century military history, his previous books include the critically acclaimed two-volume series on the siege of Leningrad: To Besiege A City (Osprey 2023) and Hero City (Osprey 2024). He now lives in Kirkcudbright in Scotland.#speakingofwriterspodcast #authorpodcast #worldwar2 #germany #thirdreich

Brad Olsen has traveled to Antarctica to find out the truth about claims of an underground German Colony, Base 211, established there during World War II. With the help of newly translated Soviet KGB files, he was able to learn much about Base 211 and the extensive underground facilities built by the Germans to establish a secret space program. In Olsen's newly completed book, Secrets of Antarctica: The Unold History of the Ice Continent, he lays out the incredible evidence that the Germans learned about an extensive underground system of lakes and rivers that they could use to navigate under Antarctica to establish bases and colonies. The Germans used ancient maps showing how the underground systems of lakes and rivers under the Antarctic ice sheets could be navigated. Using more than a 100 of their most sophisticated U-boats, the Germans established Base 211 and evacuated approximately 250,000 personnel before the end of World War II.With the help of an ancient underground civilization and extraterrestrials, the Germans were able to subsequently build fleets of antigravity craft they used to defeat US and British naval attacks, and to establish a worldwide 4th Reich. Olsen discusses the 4th Reich and how it established control in the US and in major global institutions such as NATO, European Union and United Nations. Send us a textWhat if our problem isn't that we disagree—but that we've forgotten how? Robert Reich joins us at a 50th reunion event hosted by the Center on Civility and Democratic Engagement to map the terrain of modern incivility and show a clearer path forward. We explore why trust in institutions fell from a broad majority in the 1960s to a small minority today, how geographic tribalism narrows our circles, and why the most honest political conversations often start with work, wages, and family budgets rather than party labels. We connect the dots between stagnant median wages since the late 1970s, the three coping strategies families used to stay afloat, and the deep disillusionment that followed the financial crisis. That shared frustration fueled both Tea Party and Occupy, and later boosted candidates who promised to “shake up the system” across the spectrum. Reich explains how these economic realities power today's anger—and how smart policy, from stronger safety nets to public investment and money‑in‑politics reform, can reduce the pressure that polarizes us.Then we turn the lens on media incentives. Outrage grabs attention, and attention pays. Reich pulls back the curtain on the production choices that amplify conflict and argues for rewarding outlets and leaders who model respect without pulling punches. Throughout, we return to an old idea with fresh urgency: civic virtue as public deliberation. Think eloquent listening—asking better questions, restating opposing views fairly, and staying open to being moved. From family tables to classrooms to city halls, these habits make conflict useful again and rebuild trust one conversation at a time.If this resonates, share it with someone who sees the world differently, subscribe for more candid conversations, and leave a review with one story that changed your mind.

Peter Robbins returns to the show, and we talk about his return to the UK and Rendlesham, and then get into the life and research of Wilhelm Reich. If you are not familiar with the man, you should be. You will see why on this show. Peter is of course best known for his work on the Rendlesham Forest case, but has an extensive resume dealing with Reich as well. Baker and entered into almost seven years of medical orgone therapy with the distinguished orgonomist.Robbins went on to enroll in the classes New York University offered in scientific and social orgonomy which was taught by the Reich scholars Professors John Bell and Paul Matthews. They in turn invited him to become a member of their ongoing Seminar in Social and Scientific Orgonomy, patterned after the seminars which Sigmund Freud presided over during the nineteen twenties. Peter spent much of the nineteen eighties involved with this group, presenting a variety of papers to his fellow seminar members under Matthews' and Bell's guidance and leadership.Peter was a volunteer fundraiser for the American College of Orgonomy's (ACO) Building Fund and had two papers on Wilhelm Reich and UFOs published in the Journal of Orgonomy. Journalist Gil Duran's newsletter “The Nerd Reich” documents the latest developments in anti-democracy extremism within Silicon Valley. These extreme views include calls for accelerationism: the idea that unregulated capitalism and unfettered technological advancement should accelerate as quickly as possible, in order to bring about a new world order. While this sounds conspiratorial, Duran says these views are promoted by some of the most influential voices in the tech sector. We'll talk about the political implications of billionaire tech moguls' actions in the Bay Area, the U.S. and the world — and how we can fight back. Guests: Gil Duran, journalist and author of the newsletter "The Nerd Reich"; author of the forthcoming book, “The Nerd Reich: Silicon Valley Fascism and the War on Democracy” Learn more about your ad choices. By the autumn of 1944, the Allies had driven across France and Belgium and reached the borders of Germany. Ahead of them lay the Rhine — a vast natural barrier and the last line of defence protecting the heart of the Reich. What followed was some of the most intense and costly fighting of the war in Western Europe. From the bitter battles around Aachen and the Hürtgen Forest, through the crossing operations of Plunder and Varsity, to the dramatic capture of the bridge at Remagen, the campaign for the Rhineland was brutal, chaotic, and often overshadowed by the more famous Battle of the Bulge. Yet it was here, on both sides of the Rhine, that the final collapse of Nazi Germany truly began. To help tell that story, I'm joined by military historian Anthony Tucker-Jones, author of Rhineland, which charts the campaign from the German border battles of late 1944 through to the end of the war in 1945. Rhineland is also available on Audible and Spotify. patreon.com/ww2podcast
The Labor Department reported September jobs numbers on Thursday, showing employers added 119,000 jobs to the economy but also an increase in unemployment to 4.4 percent. “The September report shows fairly good job growth, but every other report we have for October shows a slowdown,” says Robert Reich, the former secretary of labor under President Bill Clinton.“Real wages — that is, wages adjusted for inflation — are going down for most people. The bottom 90 percent of Americans are in very bad shape,” says Reich. This week on The Intercept Briefing, host Akela Lacy speaks to the professor, author, and longtime commentator about the economy and the state of Democratic Party politics under Trump. “The only people who are doing well, who are keeping the economy going through their purchases, are the top 10 percent, and they're basically doing well because they're the ones who own most of the shares of stock,” says Reich. “What happens when and if the stock market implodes?”Reich has been beating the drum on poverty and inequality for decades. And while that message took some time to hit the mainstream, it seems to be hitting home now more than ever, but Democratic leadership continues to fall flat in conveying they understand the urgency of the economic hardships ordinary Americans face. The answer, Reich says, is new leadership. He is disappointed in Democrats who caved to Trump on the government shutdown. “It's another example of the Democrats not having enough backbone,” Reich says. “I think Chuck Schumer has to go. And Jeffries too.” He adds, “I'm 79 years old. I have standing to speak about the fact that there is a time to move on. And I think that the Democratic leaders today should move on.”Listen to the full conversation of The Intercept Briefing. You can support our work at theintercept.com/join. At the end of the Second World War, the victorious Allies had to decide the fates of the surviving leaders of a regime that had initiated the bloodiest conflict in history, and perpetuated the Holocaust. The answer, beginning just a few months after VE Day, was the world's first ever international criminal trial, held in the German city of Nuremberg. As we reach the 80th anniversary of these events, David Musgrove is joined by the lawyer and author Philippe Sands to explore how this groundbreaking trial was conceived amid the rubble of the Reich.
