Sharon Daphna is a writer, researcher, and creator of The Chembow, where she documents more than a decade of work with orgone energy, orgonite, atmospheric conditions, electromagnetic frequencies, and the ideas of Wilhelm Reich. Since 2014, Sharon has made and distributed orgonite throughout nine western states, experimenting with what happens when these devices are introduced into environments saturated with artificial frequencies.In this conversation, we explore what might be called the invisible terrain: the energetic environment that surrounds us but rarely enters into conventional conversations about health. Robert Reich, the former Secretary of Labor under Bill Clinton, is one of today's leading voices addressing issues of income inequality.  Reich served in three presidential administrations, and recently retired from teaching at UC Berkeley's School of Public Policy after nearly 20 years.  His classes were among the most popular on campus, and the end of his teaching career inspired the documentary “The Last Class”.  Reich publishes extensively on social media and is the author of more than 20 books including his 2025 memoir, “Coming Up Short”. On July 23, 2025, Reich spoke with Monika Bauerlein, the CEO of the Center for Investigative Reporting, a nonprofit multimedia news organization that houses Mother Jones magazine and the radio show and podcast Reveal.

“Hitler had to abolish democracy to take over Berlin.” — Wendy Lesser “Ich bin ein Berliner” (I Am a Berliner), JFK famously said in West Berlin on June 26, 1963, in the face of Soviet imperial tyranny. Today, Wendy Lesser is offering the same defiance in her new book Berlin Before and After. Only Lesser offers a cautionary mirror for our times of not just post-Soviet Putin but also wannabe-tyrants like Trump. Lesser's loving portrait of Berlin is of a free city. She reminds us that even in Germany's darkest hour, Berlin never actually went Nazi. The city voted left up to and including 1933, so Hitler had to abolish democracy to take it over. Nor, Lesser argues, was Nazism a reaction to Weimar Berlin's Cabaret-style nightlife, any more than Trump is a reaction to wokeness. Economic forces, not cultural ones, she insists, enable dictators. Today's Berlin, as a city that memorializes its own crimes, offers America an urban lesson in acknowledging historical guilt. That's what makes Berlin such a defiant beacon of freedom in our authoritarian age. There are more urbane cities than Berlin, but none quite as dedicated to freedom. Go there and/or read Berlin Before and After. Today we should all be Berliners. Five Takeaways •       Our Own 1929 — or 1932? The book began as a love letter to the Berlin Lesser adopted in 2003 — the everywhere writer of Berkeley, New York, and Berlin, against Lampedusa the ultimate somewhere, who never left Sicily and carried Shakespeare through the coffee houses of Palermo. But as she wrote, America's condition worsened: “We were not only in our own 1929, but perhaps in 1930, '31, or even '32 — verging on our own descent into frightening dictatorship.” Hence the subtitle's cautionary mirror — though history, she insists, never exactly repeats itself, and the American analogies came unforced, surfacing every thirty or forty pages without hammering. Being an everywhere, she says, doesn't make you write better — Lampedusa proves that — “but it improves your life,” and it gave her the subjects her native California never could.•       Berlin Never Went Nazi. The episode's revelation: the city of Weimar flamboyance never gave the Nazis a majority — Berlin voted left up to and including 1933, and “Hitler had to abolish democracy to take over Berlin.” From which follows her sharpest argument: Nazism was not a backlash against Berlin's sexual and artistic freedoms, “just as I do not see the election of Trump as a reaction to so-called wokeness or trans rights. Cultural manifestations do not cause such government changes. Economic forces do” — wealth gaps, regional deprivation, the east feeling second-class, then and now (the AfD's heartland). The direct equivalences are rhetorical: America's poisoned-blood language on immigrants comes “straight from the Goebbels playbook,” and the rights that flowered in twenties Germany were “instantly squished” in the thirties. As for today: the AfD polls high before Berlin's September city elections, but the firewall holds — and the party is formally flagged by German intelligence as constitutionally dangerous. Andrew's question stands: any vaccines for this thing?•       1929: The Year Everything Premiered. Why that year: Grosz, Sander, and Otto Dix at their peak; Brecht and Piscator both premiering; All Quiet on the Western Front, the underrated Grand Hotel, and Berlin Alexanderplatz in the bookshops — plus Thomas Mann's Mario and the Magician, the novella that predicted fascism; Billy Wilder still a weekly-paper journalist shooting his first film; and Christopher Isherwood arriving on the first visit that became Goodbye to Berlin and, via Broadway, Cabaret. “Only in retrospect do we see these things as major.” The culture flourished beside economic and political chaos — “having a terrible government is not inconsistent with producing good culture. Look at nineteenth-century Russia” — and when the chaos won, the exiles washed up in the German ghetto of Los Angeles: Brecht (on the beach, per this week's Baerwald episode), Döblin, Mann. Many went back — Brecht in 1949, Piscator after — because in Hollywood and New York they “couldn't live on the thin slice of culture,” a homesickness Lesser saw again in Berkeley's own Czesław Miłosz, watching Americans like children playing in a sandbox.•       After Means 1989. The title's twist: the After is not the Nazis' arrival but the Wall's fall. The dark half-century — twelve years of Reich, then “with barely a pause to take a breath” the divided city — is deliberately skipped: “the city is going to tell you what happened,” through what its monuments confess, like Bebelplatz's memorial to the burned books of May 1933. Berlin now wears its freedom knowingly: graffiti flourishes precisely because speech was twice policed; May Day's bottle-throwing is tolerated and swept up; Freiheit arrives like the choral finale of Beethoven's Ninth — Andrew's analogy, which she embraced with irony, since “nobody is totally free these days.” The Wall's hothouse island remains separate from Germany half a century on. And the city stays cinematic to the point of unreality — Wings of Desire's angels in the actual Staatsbibliothek (“I thought it was just a set”), Babylon Berlin's set-choosers clearing away the present — with a thriller shelf to match: Deighton's Berlin Game (freshly reread on his death), le Carré's Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Herron, McEwan, Schneider's Wall Jumper.•       A Mirror That Might Become Useful. Berlin's deepest lesson is for after the fall: it is the city that acknowledges its bad deeds — monuments and plaques saying this is where we did it — while America “likes to brush it all aside and act like we're always the heroes.” Andrew's pushback landed: Montgomery, Bryan Stevenson's lynching memorial, the African American Museum — “You're right. I'm not being fair.” But the qualification sharpens rather than sinks the thesis: “we do not have a history yet like Holocaust Germany or even Berlin Wall Germany… It's a mirror that might become useful if the worst comes about.” Meanwhile Berlin models the livable city: rent control the voters wanted to push all the way to expropriation, transit worth “ecstasies,” and a constitutional welfare clause promising a dignified existence — economic rights our Bill of Rights never mentions. Gil Durán was born in Tulare, California, in 1976. The grandson of Mexican immigrant farmworkers, he got his first taste of work in the fields, but took an interest in journalism after winning the local newspaper's "My Mom Is the Best" contest in the fifth grade. In the tenth grade, his family moved from California to Kentucky, where he dropped out of high school for a year, then returned and befriended an English teacher who encouraged him to apply to college. He graduated DePauw University in 1998 and started his journalism career at the San Jose Mercury News. As the newspaper industry hit turbulence, he pivoted to politics and spent ten years as an advisor to politicians including Jerry Brown, Dianne Feinstein, and Kamala Harris. In 2018, he returned to journalism as California opinion editor of The Sacramento Bee, and then became editorial page editor of the San Francisco Examiner. Now an independent journalist, he publishes two newsletters: The Nerd Reich, focused on extremist tech politics, and FrameLab, focused on political language. In his new book, "The Nerd Reich," journalist Gil Durán argues that Silicon Valley has led a decades-long campaign to replace elected governments with corporate rule.

General Manager Darren Mougey isn’t going to have an easy time putting together his 53-man Jets roster.  Several players have come from out of nowhere to make a valid case to hang around.  The defensive line and cornerback groups will be particularly difficult to work through, but we’ll give it our best guess here. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/74696919/download.mp3 Jets Roster QB (2): Geno Smith, Cade Klubnik Klubnik has done enough to earn the backup QB job.  This means there won’t be any need to use an additional roster spot on a signal-caller such as Bailey Zappe or Brady Cook.   One of those two may land on the practice squad, but that’s about it.  If this were a team with legitimate playoff aspirations, you make Klubnik your QB3 behind a veteran.  As it stands, that’s not the case. RB (4): Breece Hall, Braelon Allen, Isaiah Davis, Kene Nwangwu Hall is nursing a groin injury but is expected to be ready for Week 1 along with Allen and the similarly banged-up Isaiah Davis.  Nwangwu is a running back on paper, but a kick returner in reality.  Big year for Allen who needs to prove he can stay healthy and produce at the pro level. WR (6): Garrett Wilson, AD Mitchell, Omar Cooper, Isaiah Williams, Tim Patrick, Arian Smith AD Mitchell has dealt with his share of critics since dropping three passes in his Jets debut, but we’re expecting big things from him opposite Garrett Wilson this season.  Add Omar Cooper to the mix and this could be a dangerous trio.  Arian Smith makes it by the skin of his teeth, with his status as a draft pick allowing him to survive the roster cutdown.  Tim Patrick gets the nod as a proven vet but going with the younger option in Malik McClain, who we have going to the practice squad. TE (4): Mason Taylor, Kenyon Sadiq, Jeremy Ruckert, Jelani Woods Prior to the start of the season, we’d wondered aloud about Jelani Woods and whether or not his history with Frank Reich would give him a chance to stick.  Well, it certainly didn’t hurt the situation, and Reich now has a group of tight ends with what should be one of the highest ceilings in the league. OL (9): Olu Fashanu, Dylan Parham, Josh Myers, Joe Tippmann, Armand Membou, Chukwama Okorafor, Max Mitchell, Xavier Newman, Anez Cooper. One of the better young lines in the NFL; if we see Fashanu and Membou take another step forward, the Jets offense will benefit tremendously.  Also worth remembering that guard is a new position to Tippmann who we believe will have a monster year. DL (9): Harrison Phillips, T’Vondre Sweat, David Onyemata, David Bailey, Will McDonald, Jowon Briggs, Kingsley Enagbare, Joseph Ossai, Darrell Jackson. Sweat stands to be the most important acquisition on defense since Darren Mougey’s arrival if the 360-pounder can hit his ceiling.  Onyemata should work well with the likes of Phillips and Briggs to help fix what ailed the Jets run defense last season. LB (5): DeMario Davis, Jamien Sherwood, Mykal Walker, Marcelino McCrary-Ball, Jaden Keller Keller is the long-shot here, but with Davis’ age and Sherwood’s struggles last season, it may make sense to keep another linebacker in the fold, and Keller has had himself a good camp.  In the end, the Jets may opt to go with Kiko Mauigoa to avoid cutting a player who was just drafted last year. CB (7): Brandon Stephens, Azareye’h Thomas, D’Angelo Ponds, Nahshon Wright, Qwan’tez Stiggers, Jarvis Brownlee, Jordan Clark The Jets have had several players stand out at corner in camp, but you can’t keep ’em all.  We’re going with Jordan Clark in the final spot because he’s been outstanding thus far and has some versatility.  Mory Bamba could be headed to short-term IR.  Tre Brown and Samuel Womack have been good enough to justify a spot somewhere in the league and at the very least should land on the Jets practice squad. S (4): Minkah Fitzpatrick, Dean Belton, Andre Cisco, Malachi Moore Fitzpatrick is expected to be the best safety on the roster.  Belton has been one of the stars of camp and should be the other starter at some point this season.  Cisco is looking to bounce back from getting injured last season and has played well up to this point.  VJ Payne has been sidelined with an injury for most of camp, so we expect the Jets to place him on IR for the short-term. Specialists (3): Jason Sanders (PK), Austin McNamara (P), Thomas Hennessy (LS). If the Jets are smart, they’ll be turning over every stone in professional football to upgrade at kicker, but we’ll go with Sanders here for the sake of filling the spot.  McNamara is one of the league’s best, and Hennessy enters his tenth season. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, President Trump, as Commander-in-Chief, made the decision to go to war with Iran and destroy their nuclear regime. Not Benjamin Netanyahu or anyone else. He did. But the Woke Reich neo-fascist isolationists can't accept that. In the past, Democrats and Republicans would have united behind this decision. Now, Democrats and Democratic Socialists on the left and the Woke Reich on the far right are undermining Trump and our troops. We know what the Iranian regime will do if they get their hands on nukes. We know they already fund terror groups all over the world. We know they push their ideology to the young, including right here in America. Right now, in the USA, weak governors allow fortress mosques to be built in our communities. In their hatred of Jews, the Woke Reich are ok with Iran and Putin. The Woke Reich are the modern-day appeasers of Hitler in the 1930s, but they don't have the integrity to admit it. Also, to serve in Congress is an immense honor, but then you have pigs like Eric Swalwell and Matt "No Pants" Gaetz who get elected. Then we have Jon Ossoff, running for reelection to the Senate, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth but trashes capitalism. He went after Trump over Iran and called assistant Natalie Harp and other aides "security blankets." Ossoff called his opponent Mike Collins and his supporters "White nationalists." Where was Jon when Joe Biden was curled up under the desk in the Oval Office? And name one thing he's done in the Senate? It's disgusting how people like Ossoff, Gaetz and Swalwell have conducted themselves while in office. Then, Prince Reza Pahlavi, son of the late Shah, was asked by a German journalist if he's an Israeli agent. He answered no but he's proud of his grandfather, who gave refuge to Jews while they were being burned in ovens in Germany. Pahlavi would be a great choice to lead an Iranian government-in-exile. Meanwhile, hardliners in the current regime have no intention of agreeing to any deal with the U.S. that doesn't give them control over the Strait of Hormuz. Russia, China and North Korean continue to pour weapons into Iran while we play defense. The regime is using this time to recalibrate and reinforce their police state. It's time to just finish them. Finally, a group of people that the Detroit Free Press describes as "anti-Muslim" held a protest ahead of a city council meeting in Dearborn, MI. The report wrote inflammatory statements about the protestors and said counter-protestors shouted antisemitic remarks. Democrats denounced the protest and expressed support for Muslims in Dearborn. This week on the Mark Levin Show, political correctness is running amok in the WNBA. There are two issues facing the WNBA: transgender athletes and racism. A small fraction of athletes - transgenders - are threatening to destroy opportunities for biological women and girls. This is not a civil rights issue. Women have fought for 50 years for equality in sports. That doesn't mean men and women are the same. It means women and girls have the opportunity to flourish in athletics. It's time to make a decision: will a relatively handful of individuals destroy the purpose of a women's sports league? Or will the overwhelmingly biological female athletes compete on a level playing field. The WNBA is a business and the hierarchy and players should treat it as such. The only color that should matter is the color of money: green. Whether it's the men's NBA or the WNBA, people want to see the best athletes, regardless of color. Later, the Iranian regime is gearing up for a prolonged showdown with President Trump by keeping their economy functioning just enough to withstand a drawn-out U.S. military campaign. As Gen. Jack Keane says, they think they have the upper hand in the Strait of Hormuz and will become more violent as the midterm elections approach. Keane says using economic levers is good but must also play the military card. But is allowing the regime to stall for time the right play? Why not arm the Iranian people and take out Iran's infrastructure, starting with Kharg Island? This is also playing into the hands of the woke-Reich neo-fascist isolationists. By calling for American withdrawal now, they give aid and comfort to the enemy. And letting Iran think they have control over the Strait sends the wrong message to countries like China. What will the U.S. do if the Chinese block the South China Sea? Also, the difference between the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America is not significant—the DSA is the logical extension of the Democrat Party, which has birthed it and remains sympathetic to its core aims; most Democrats are comfortable with DSA figures in Congress, state legislatures, and governorships. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, the pseudo-conservative, Woke Reich isolationist, and national-conservative voices are undermining the president, abandoning traditional Reaganite principles, and pushing for greater government intervention.  We have an alarming near-$50 trillion on-budget debt (with true obligations including Social Security, Medicare, and pensions closer to $300–350 trillion against an economy producing only about $20 trillion annually). Such demands for more government play into Democrats' hands, and principles are needed most when confronting economic and security threats. The proper path is growth and wealth creation through freer markets, competition, and smarter regulation rather than new programs; critics should present concrete plans if they have any. Election success ultimately depends on doing what is necessary, such as the president's decisive action to prevent the Iranian regime from obtaining nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles which deserves immediate credit. Later, the Vice President has argued that free-market advocates should stop invoking the market system and instead develop a plan to help younger people avoid socialism. Traditional Reaganite and Friedman-style conservatives who back the President's tax and regulatory policies are questioning these remarks. With nearly a $50 trillion on-budget debt the real problem is too much government, not more of it, and that debate belongs in the primaries.  Finally, Michele Tafoya, Minnesota Senate candidate, calls in and argues that Minnesota has been racing in the wrong direction under single-party Democrat rule, with Peggy Flanagan serving as lieutenant governor under Tim Walz for two terms during which the state became a national embarrassment. Drawing on her experience as an early WNBA play-by-play announcer who watched the league grow through women's pure skill and athleticism, she criticized the idea that biological men should compete in women's sports, noting that exclusion is fundamental to athletics and that giving roster spots to biological males simply excludes actual women in an absurd, Alice-in-Wonderland distortion. Der Drohnen-Vorfall am Leipziger Flughafen Anfang August hat in Deutschland für Aufregung und Besorgnis gesorgt und eine Diskussion über die Abwehr solcher und hybrider Angriffe ausgelöst. Im Interview mit Host Stefan Niemann spricht der Sicherheitsexperte Nico Lange über die aus seiner Sicht immer noch mangelhafte Drohnenabwehr an deutschen Flughäfen. Man sei “an einer Katastrophe knapp vorbeigeschlittert, aber nicht, weil wir sie verhindert hätten oder abgewehrt hätten, sondern nur durch zufällige Umstände, möglicherweise einen technischen Defekt.” Der Gründer des Instituts für Risikoanalyse und Internationale Sicherheit (IRIS) bemängelt, die notwendige Sensorentechnik sei längst vorhanden, aber die Politik hinke hinterher. Daran ändere auch der neugeschaffene Nationale Sicherheitsrat wenig. Laut Lange passt die Sprengstoffdrohne zu Russlands gezielter hybrider Kriegführung gegen Staaten, die die Ukraine unterstützen. Deutschland müsse da deutlich wehrhafter werden. Man müsse damit rechnen, dass Russlands Machthaber möglicherweise noch in diesem Jahr testen will, ob die NATO wirklich zusammenhält, und zwar “nicht mit dem Angriff einer riesigen russischen Streitmacht, sondern mit einer Kombination aus hybriden und versteckten Angriffen und vielleicht kleinen, kurzen Vorstößen auf NATO-Gebiet.” Derweil geht der russische Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine unvermindert weiter. Die ukrainische Armee wehrt sich mit Attacken im russischen Hinterland auf Ölraffinieren und Lager des Versandhändlers Wildberries. Zugenommen haben in den vergangenen Wochen auch gegenseitige Angriffe auf Schiffe und Häfen, berichtet Astrid Corall. Dadurch leide der wichtige Export von Getreide. Ukraines Präsident Selenskyj hat nach eigenen Angaben den US-Amerikanern Vorschläge zur Beendigung des Krieges vorgelegt, Details sind bislang nicht bekannt. Er fordert aber erneut mehr Unterstützung bei der Flugabwehr – und bittet die USA, der Ukraine mindestens fünf Prozent ihrer Raketenbestände zu verkaufen. It's Wayback Wednesday! This week, we present a discussion with Dr. Joseph Farrell who made the case that the 1947 Roswell crash wasn't a UFO, it was tech developed by Nazi engineers brought to the US after WWII. First released July 28, 2010 THERE WAS a coverup of what really happened at Roswell, New Mexico in July of 1947.  But the conspiracy wasn't the coverup of a UFO crash; the UFO was the coverup. But they're not going to leave because there are so many advantages to staying in California in terms of: this is where a lot of the high tech talent actually is. This is where the infrastructure for high tech is already. The climate, as I talk to you, I'm looking at a beautiful day out here. You know, who wants to leave California? And if you are a billionaire, and you are just so intent on leaving California because of this one very, very minor tax, then frankly, goodbye.Robert ReichI am a believer, though, in the common sense of the American people. Now, if that makes me naive, if that makes me gullible, so be it. But I think at the end of the line, the bottom line here is that the American people will make a decision starting with the midterm elections coming up in just 96 days (something like that). And those elections are going to be critical in terms of trying to constrain Trump and the people, the sycophants and lapdogs behind him and Hegseth and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and all these people who are ripping the social contract to shreds. And I think that the one way that (this brings us back to my pledge, my affordability pledge for Democrats), I think one way the Democrats can be sure to get the House back and maybe even possibly the Senate in 96, 97 days, is to pledge to make America affordable again. He has continued this policy work by co-authoring the comprehensive proposal A Bold Economic Program for America and exploring its political path forward in his recent article, Planning for the Day After Trump.The point of our program is not that it should be endorsed in its entirety. It's almost meant to be a discussion document to show what is possible—that this can be done. It doesn't require some dramatic change in the way the government operates. And if we don't win back the House and at least have a shot at winning back the Senate, talking about these issues while Trump and the MAGA Republican Party controls the government (and might continue to control it), makes us feel good, but it doesn't change anything. What I've learned about the so-called leaders of the party is you don't really expect them to lead. They will follow when they see where the voters are going. And they'll also follow when they see if there is a Presidential candidate who takes off on these kinds of issues…I don't expect the leadership to lead on these issues. So I don't rail against them. Because what I'm doing (and I'm doing it with a lot of different people out there, including a lot of young people) is trying to find good candidates, provide them with economic ideas to run on, and then hope that we win back the House and that these kinds of then-elected officials who share our viewpoint become the Democratic Party. I mean, that's how you do these things. In the closely watched Senate primary, which came down to a two-way race, Bernie Sanders-backed progressive Dr. Abdul El-Sayed emerged triumphant. Some have played up the fact that his opponent, Congresswoman Haley Stevens, overperformed relative to her polling in an attempt to downplay the significance of El-Sayed's victory. Yet, this narrative ignores the fact that Stevens enjoyed the backing of the Democratic Establishment and AIPAC, which gave her an 12-to-1 spending advantage according to Axios, and that she ran misleading ads that made it seem as though former President Barack Obama had endorsed her campaign. Viewed in this light, it is clear just how impressive El-Sayed's victory – statewide, in a must-win swing state for Democrats – is. El-Sayed will now face off against former Republican Congressman Mike Rogers in the general election.* In Detroit, the left scored another major win with the victory of Donavan McKinney. McKinney, a DSA member and Michigan state representative, won his primary race against incumbent Congressman Shri Thanedar in Michigan's 13th congressional district, the Detroit Free Press reports. Thanedar, a millionaire businessman, was a DSA member but left over disagreements over Israel. Thanedar fought hard to keep this seat, which he won in 2022, and was supported by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries despite many members of the Congressional Black Caucus supporting McKinney. Given that this is a heavily Democratic district, McKinney is essentially guaranteed a seat in the next Congress, bringing the number of DSA-backed House Members to an unprecedented high of seven. Moreover, between McKinney and Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, the city of Detroit will now enjoy all DSA representation in Congress.* In Michigan's seventh congressional district, progressive climate activist and co-founder of the Sunrise Movement William Lawrence pulled out a win in his primary as well. NBC notes that Lawrence defeated his two more moderate opponents, retired Navy SEAL Matt Maasdam and former Ambassador to Slovakia Bridget Brink, in part by aggressively criticizing the construction of new AI data centers. Some have alleged that Lawrence received support from Republicans using dark money to boost his campaign because they believe him to be an easier candidate to defeat in the general election. However, the Hillary Clinton campaign's “pied piper” strategy to boost Donald Trump in 2016 proves that this is ever a risky strategy. Michigan's seventh district is seen as a critical battleground seat. Donald Trump won the district by just one single percentage point in 2024.* In more data center news from the Midwest, Hell Gate reports former New York City Mayor Eric Adams was in “Wisconsin Rapids—population 18,654—trying to convince residents that they should allow a real estate developer to build a data center in the heart of their town.” In a video of his pitch, the townspeople can be seen heckling, booing and shouting down the former Mayor, with attendees saying “You belong in prison!” and “You're here to steal our water!” Community activist Kaitlyn Federwitz is quoted in this piece saying “Our whole town does not want him here at all,” adding “We want our resources to be properly safeguarded, our farmers to be protected, our waterways protected.” The Wisconsin Rapids economy had been largely dependent on a local mill, which closed its doors in 2020; Federwitz spoke to this, arguing that “When the mill closed, we lost 900 jobs. We're aware we need jobs and industry in our city.” However, she added that the people of Wisconsin Rapids are “not willing to accept that a data center is the answer to that problem.”* In more news from the midwest, United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain has published a new op-ed in Newsweek contending that “Democrats Must Pick a Side: Billionaires or Working-Class.” Fain cited numerous examples of Democrats in powers betraying their working class supporters, from NAFTA to modern governors like Abigail Spanberger of Virginia vetoing collective bargaining rights for public-sector workers. He criticized Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in particular for vetoing “nine bills restoring pensions, lowering health care costs, and restoring bargaining rights for public-sector workers,” after “Michigan Democrats fought an 18-month legal battle to force the bills to the governor's desk.” He claims that “When the courts finally ordered [the bills] delivered, Whitmer vetoed all nine the same day—without so much as a phone call to legislative leaders or the unions that helped elect her.” He ends this piece with a call for “every elected official and candidate to…[reject] corporate PAC money,” and “adopt a platform that addresses the needs of working-class people.” This clear-eyed, laser focus on the working class is what has put Fain into conversation for a 2028 presidential run by some on the populist left, particularly if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ultimately declines to run. A recent article in POLITICO quotes Bhaskar Sunkara, the 2020 Sanders surrogate and former vice chair of the Democratic Socialists of America, saying “If he's willing to run, [Fain] might be the best candidate for the left…Since he's progressive but very much says his egalitarian value system comes from his Christianity, [he] can speak in a moral language that can reach more independents than other candidates, and I think it would set a good precedent for labor.”* For the DSA left, all eyes now turn to Wisconsin, where Francesca Hong's campaign for the gubernatorial nomination continues to pick up steam. Just this week, per Wis Politics, Hong picked up the endorsement of the SEIU Wisconsin Healthcare and Service Workers. In their endorsement statement, SEIU Wisconsin called Hong “a longtime advocate and fighter for the working class,” who is “committed to building back strong labor protections by overturning Act 10 and so-called ‘Right-to-Work' laws, expanding Badgercare, and abolishing poverty wages in Wisconsin.” The union added that Hong's “support for a $20 minimum wage, adopting family-centered policies such as paid family leave and affordable child care, and enacting much-needed regulations on corporate monopolies make her the clear choice for all Wisconsinites, not just the wealthy.” Hong currently leads in the polls, despite the sitting Democratic Governor's attempts to boost her primary rival, David Crowley. Both Hong and Crowley have racked up labor support, though Crowley decidedly leads among the building trades and firefighter unions.* In St. Louis, the left experienced its biggest setback this cycle, with former Congresswoman Cori Bush losing her comeback bid against Congressman Wesley Bell by a large margin. Bush was ousted in 2024 as part of “a broader strategy by AIPAC to unseat Israel's sharpest critics in Congress, including the ‘Squad,' which Bush was a part of,” per the Missouri Independent. This piece notes that AIPAC spent over $8 million to oust Bush in that cycle and outside groups spent $7.2 million on Bell's behalf this year. Bell's official campaign outspent Bush's by a margin well over 10 to 1. Bush is the first candidate backed by National DSA to lose their race in 2026, which, while disappointing in this case, is a stunning testament to the track record of the group.* In a totally different part of the country, this week Julian Beaudion, the Democratic nominee for Senate in South Dakota, dropped out of the race. Beaudion cited personal hardships for himself and his family in his statement of withdrawal citing a recent house fire. However, many see this as an acknowledgement that the independent candidate in this race, veteran and former park ranger Brian Bengs, has a better chance of defeating incumbent Republican Senator Mike Rounds in a head-to-head matchup. This dynamic has been playing out in other states; Democratic Senate candidates have dropped out to clear the way for independents in Nebraska and Idaho already and there is immense pressure on the Democratic nominee in Montana to do the same. For his part, Beaudion will not endorse either candidate in South Dakota, according to KELOLAND News, but South Dakota Searchlight reports the South Dakota Democratic Party will not replace Beaudion on the ballot, giving the greenlight for Democrats to coalesce around Bengs in the general election.* In another primary election story, Lehigh Valley Public Media is out with a story on the strange dynamic emerging in Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district. According to this story, this race – between incumbent Republican Ryan Mackenzie and his Democratic challenger Bob Brooks, who seems to have done the impossible by getting Bernie Sanders and Josh Shapiro on the same side in a primary – has been upended by the entry of one Andrew Tupone. Mr. Tupone, a former Republican candidate, is running on the Green Party ballot line and claims to have “joined the Green Party this spring, drawn by its environmental policies on water conservancy and opposition to data centers, after growing disillusioned with both major parties.” Yet, apparently, “Green Party leaders warned in a statement this month that a wave of candidates may be posing as party members across the state.” Chris Robinson, a Green party spokesman, claims that “The party hasn't endorsed any congressional candidates in Pennsylvania and has never heard from Tupone.” Robinson adds that he “looked at [Tupone's] Facebook page, and he seems like he's a nice Republican.” According to LVPM, “a third-party candidate wouldn't need to move the needle much,” to influence the outcome of the election, noting that the current Congressman defeated the Democratic incumbent, Rep. Susan Wild by just 1 percentage point, in 2024, while “Tim Silfies, the last third-party congressional candidate to appear on a Lehigh Valley ballot, earned 8,011 votes, or 3 percent of the vote, in 2018.”* Finally, in more third party news, POLITICO reports several leading figures on the anti-MAGA right – including Congressman Thomas Massie, former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, and commentator Tucker Carlson – convened last weekend to “[sow] the seeds for a future third-party political organization…aimed at undercutting the Republican establishment.” This gang of three, joined by former Trump national security official Joe Kent, are particularly incensed by the president's intervention in Iran, with Greene writing “We said no more foreign wars and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise. But he's betrayed us all.” This group is reportedly mulling a right-wing, third-party presidential campaign in 2028. While Carlson has declined to launch a presidential bid in the past, despite urging from within his circle, a sprawling new “10-point vision for America” he debuted during a recent stream implies that he is increasingly interested in articulating an alternative vision of right-wing politics from those espoused by Trump. This manifesto, as reported by Axios, includes everything from declassifying records on the JFK assasination and 9/11 to enforcing universal sobriety to “halting immigration until the effects of AI become clearer.” We will be watching closely to see if this effort moves forward or peters out as has been the pattern with other recent third party attempts.This has been Francesco DeSantis, with In Case You Haven't Heard. Charles Spicer recounts how, in December 1934, Ernest Tennant, a businessman scarred by the horrors of the Great War, dined with Adolf Hitler and Joachim von Ribbentrop at the Reich Chancellery. At the time, Ribbentrop was a passionate Anglophile, and Tennant's goal was to foster cooperation to prevent another continental conflict. Disappointed by the British government's initial disdain for the "vulgar" Nazi regime, Tennant partnered with the brilliant scholar Philip Conwell-Evans and the aristocratic Lord Lothian to form the Anglo-German Fellowship. This organization aimed to build cultural and political bridges between London and Berlin during a period of deep historical trauma. (1)1914

On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, the Woke Reich and certain influencers claim that Israel can't stop going to war but it's the U.S. who has been bombing Iran since the ceasefire, sidelining Israel. These Influencers are being paid to undermine President Trump and blame Israel for conflict with Iran. These influencers push the narrative that if only Israel made peace with the Palestinians, then there would be no more conflict. Who do these influencers think support terrorism? Why don't they criticize Qatar, who spend millions buying influence in America? Also, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) seeks to eliminate the U.S. Senate and Electoral College to advance their agenda, though both require constitutional amendments. These institutions exist to protect smaller, less-populated states, ensuring they have a meaningful say in government so they would join the Union during independence. Similarly, the Electoral College ensures smaller states influence presidential elections, countering domination by a handful of large, populous Democrat metropolitan states and cities. Removing these safeguards would enable mob rule, open borders, non-citizen influence, and a centralized Marxist government. Later, Bruce Blakeman calls in to discuss his run for New York Governor. Under Gov Kathy Hochul New York ranks dead last in economic outlook, driving out high-net-worth individuals and businesses through anti-business policies, high taxes, and overregulation. Blakeman pledges to cut taxes and electric rates, welcome businesses, ensure safer neighborhoods, and build a vibrant economy. Afterward, Todd Blanche is a proven leader who effectively represented Donald Trump in the private sector and  who is serving as acting attorney general at the Department of Justice. Democrats oppose his nomination because they preferred Merrick Garland who protected Joe Biden by invoking privileges to block the release of his testimony audio or video, hired rogue prosecutor Jack Smith, and approved the Mar-A-Lago SWAT raid and other attacks on Trump's liberty and due process.
