We just got back from MTAC Dueling Dragons in Nashville, Tennessee and there we decided to try something different while we were there: A live panel! Look, all of the other podcasts are doing it, so we decided to jump off a bridge too. But don't worry, we jumped onto some dragons. Some, theoretically, anime dragons. One could even say we drafted these dragons. Into a dragon draft. Look, it's all right there in the episode title, really.Protip: This episode was recorded live from the panel at the con. The audio is decently listenable though! Kinda.OSMnotesDid you like the episode? If you did and were there, or liked the audio version… Let MTAC know! Here is a link to their survey for this year: https://forms.gle/47TwTCkCNZGJPyU86Also, it probably would be a good idea to post some images of the various dragons from the panel! Also… One Piece? Chris Saber, member of the nerd-pop band Night Sabers, came to Middle Tennessee Anime Convention to perform with The Slants. He didn't have a presence in the artist alley this year, but often does and gives his perspective on tabling. His band has rock elements, but is light-hearted. If you want to give their albums a listen, you should head over to https://nightsabers.bandcamp.com/album/welcome-to-saber-school or https://open.spotify.com/artist/08QgfH0WfqtV6d5h7mtHyV.

In this week's episode, we take a trip back in time, to 2018's Middle Tennessee Anime Convention, where our own John Robbins got to chat with both Yuri Lowenthal along with Tara Platt. (It was also where a certain Yuri and may have tweeted a certain awesome thing about John.) Both Yuri and Tara are super prolific Voice-Over Artists. Yuri has been in things like Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, Dead or Alive, Naruto, Personas both 3 AND 4, and most recently he was the voice of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the new Spider-Manvideo game by Insomniac. Tara was also in both Persona 3 and Naruto, along with a bevy of those things! She has been new dub of Sailor Moon, Aggretsuko, Fire Emblem: Awakening, League of Legends, and was also the voice of Yuri Watanabe in, you guessed it, Insomniac's Spider-Man.
Another Year, another Easter, another MTAC. Like in years of the past, we ventured into the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention for their latest year, MTAC In Love. But. were we in love with the con this year? Well, like any loving relationship, we had our ups, and our downs. There were some missed communications, but at the same time there were moments of bliss. Ultimately though, at the end of the day or con or whatever, we could look into each other’s eyes and see that the fire was still there. Speaking of loving relationships, we are once again joined at the hip with the Chainsaw Buffet podcast for this episode. We wouldn’t want to have it anyother way. OSMnotes Next week, we’ll be updating! Again! With another interview! How exciting! But hold your horses folks, but we still have Time Cues. Oh boy! We start the OSMcast!ing – 00:00 General Gabbing – 00:34 Middle Tennessee Anime Convention (In Love!) Setting the Stage of Discourse – 2:33 Friday – 31:53 Saturday – 55:07 Sunday, nope still Saturday – 75:29 Sunday – 80:36 Final Thoughts – 82:58
Momocon 2013 What the- A podcast posted by the OSMcast! about a con that is more recent than a year ago, perhaps even posted within the month it actually OCCURRED in?! Could… we be actually getting our act together!? Maybe! Although really it’s with the help of the wonderful, gallant, and lovely gents from the Chainsaw Buffet, our ever awesome OSM compadres from the land of the North (of Alabama, in Tennessee). Once more, we have teamed up our forces to bring you the tales of derring-do! This time, we have dared Momocon: Atlanta’s Anime, Animation, and Gaming Convention. And we have returned to audio spin those yarns! OSMnotes Speaking of cons, we will be heading out this weekend to the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention, or you know, MTAC. As is his want, Basil will be hosting some panels at the con! They are: Even More Manga You Need to BUY RIGHT NOW (Friday 10 AM, Fan Panel 2) Manga, the world of Japanese comics. There used to be an absolute ton of these things on the market, but times are changing and not for the better. However, there are still a great many series and one shots that are being published today! And we are going to tell you all about them! Engrish Jamboree (Friday, 3PM, Panel 2) Rs may not be Ls but when you are speaking English in Japanese the lures go light out the window! The Engrish Jamboree is what happens when you take one language and churn it through another language with hilarious results. Anime and Live-Action clips, music videos, if people are fumbling through English, we got it. Getting Your Anime Groove Back (Saturday, 9PM, Panel 2) Anime burn out happens all the time. Sometimes life gets in the way and people lose interest in keeping up with the latest shows and news. This panel looks at a few shows that may rekindle that anime fan deep inside that just wants to be free again. Of course, times for these things can always change. We’ll see you… next week! Or perhaps… EVEN SOONER?! We have some smaller, more bite sized episodes we can upload. So you will be hearing more from us much sooner than one would normally think.
It's a con that knows how to rock out with it's uh, anime out! THE OSMCAST IS BACK! And we have brought back with us the motherload of Middle Tennessee Anime Convention con report in audio form goodness. You can even tell it was even recorded at the con4! (Some parts, more than others. Also we originally planned on releasing this much, much earlier.) Since MTAC decided this year to Go to 11, so did we. We start off being all self absorbed and talked about our panels with the wonderful gentlemen of Akihabra Renditions (and SeishunCon). Then we drug in the guys from Tennesse’s own Chainsaw Buffet podcast to talk about the convention istelf. Finally, we get to have a chat with Nicholas Qualls (Senior Director of Public Relations), Christi Binkley (Director of Media Relation), and the big man himself Lucas Leverett (Convention Chairman, Senior Director of Venue & VIP Affairs). And in-between all these bits are on the spot and off the cuff interviews we had with the con goers themselves. FUN FACT: We would have called this the MTAC Omegacast, but their name for next year is MTAC Omega! So I guess we’ll have to wait until next year as well. Darn! Also, this is probably now officially our longest podcast ever. OSMnotes Sorry that we have been away so long! But rest assured, we are back and ready for action! And by action, we mean Otakon. It’s going to be _exciting! _ If you would like to read even more words about things like anime and what not, Basil even updated his blog somewhat recently-ish.
All killer, no filler for these notes. We talk about Middle Tennessee Anime Convention. We talked to The Man Power and The Man Power Girls at Middle Tennessee Anime Convention this year about their new album, their new and improved live show, impressions of MTAC Goes To 11, and their side projects Blue Grade and Kurai Kuma.
Charlie, Dylan, and John discuss Voices for Japan, a series of interviews with English anime voice actors to help raise awareness and funds for the earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan. Then, we talk about changes with Funimation streaming and what we'll be doing at Middle Tennessee Anime Convention.
Middle Tennessee Anime Convention It’s the Monday after MTAC Ninja but the OSMcast must go on! Speaking of the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention, here’s a chat we had about the con with Christi Binkley, MTAC’s Director of Media Relations and Advertising. In other words, “Press Wrangler.” We talk a bit about the con and what it takes to make one of these con things happen. Also joining us was the wonderful Marc Smazik of Akihabara Renditions. Protip: Speaking of Akihabara Renditions, we _totally _stole their set up for this. Sadly, we also had no clue how to actually _use _any of it. As a result there is a lot of noise where we held the microphones like retards and the audio reflects this. Our apologizes. This probably isn’t a very good episode to listen to in the car. OSMnotes These made us feel all important and crap. We could post the full picture, but really we have faces perfect for radio. Photo courtesy of Tarrence Grigsby. This is actually merely one of many episodes that we recorded during MTAC. We’ll be doling them as they get edited, so stay tuned for more! It was an incredibly fun convention, and mad props go out to both Christi as well as Niko, the Director of Community Relations of Community Relations, for making it all possible. It was my biggest regret that we couldn’t nail down Niko down long enough to get him on a mic. There’s always next year, though! If any of you fine readers and/or listeners have recently come to the site from MTAC, hello! Please feel free to check out our Index of OSMs Past, or just go on ahead and plug our RSS Feed into the podcatching program of your choice. If you’d like to contact us, you can send us an email at osmcast@gmail.com, check out our forum, leave a comment in the comments section, or even give us a call on the OSMline (206-202-0071).
Possibly the single largest guest list we've ever had. The members of The Man Power, The Notorious MSG, and The Slants sit down with John, Charlie, and Dylan at Middle Tennessee Anime Convention to talk about their music, anime, and other important matters.
