Meanwhile, a high-stakes hearing at New York City Hall on the controversial second-home tax ends in chaos after Mayor Mamdani and his administration completely dodge the event, leaving anxious taxpayers with nothing but a written statement and a publicized list of nearly a million names. Plus, we cover the unbelievable "same-name" ballot trick targeting Senator Dan Sullivan in Alaska, the controversy over an Al-Sayed campaign staffer equating a red pickup truck to the KKK  and the health department's failing grade for New York's congestion pricing.

featured Wiki of the Day

fWotD Episode 3384: Toys for Bob Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Monday, 10 August 2026, is Toys for Bob.Toys for Bob, Inc. is an American video game developer based in Novato, California. It was founded in 1989 by Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford. The studio is known for creating Star Control and the Skylanders franchise, as well as for working on the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro franchises.Toys for Bob began as a partnership between Reiche and Ford. The two had separately attended the University of California, Berkeley in the late 1970s before entering the video game industry in the early 1980s. They later met through mutual friends in 1988, when Reiche was seeking a programmer to develop Star Control for Accolade. This led to the creation of their partnership in 1989 and the debut of Star Control in 1990. The release was considered a landmark science fiction game and led to the 1992 sequel Star Control II, which greatly expanded the series' story and scale. Star Control II is celebrated as one of the greatest games of all time and is featured on several "best of" lists for music, writing, world design, and character design. The studio adopted the name Toys for Bob to stimulate curiosity and differentiate themselves from other studios. With Crystal Dynamics as their publisher, they developed several games, including The Horde, Pandemonium!, and The Unholy War. In the early 2000s, the studio transitioned to working on licensed games before being laid off by Crystal Dynamics. With Terry Falls as a co-owner, Reiche and Ford incorporated the studio in 2002. Activision became their publisher soon after, and eventually acquired the studio in 2005. Toys for Bob created the Skylanders series when Activision merged with Vivendi Games and acquired the Spyro franchise. The developers at Toys for Bob had already been experimenting with using physical toys to interact with video games and believed that this technology would be ideal for Spyro's universe of characters. Credited with inventing the toys-to-life genre, the 2011 release of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure was considered a technological and commercial breakthrough. This led to a spinoff series with several successful games, generating a billion dollars in revenue for Activision in the first 15 months and winning several awards. In 2018, Toys for Bob assisted with the development of the remaster compilations Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, earning a reputation leading a revival of properties from the original PlayStation. After the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time in 2020, Reiche and Ford left the company to start an independent studio. Toys for Bob took on new leadership under Paul Yan and Avery Lodato while working on the Call of Duty series. After Activision's parent company, Activision Blizzard, faced lawsuits over workplace harassment and discrimination, Microsoft acquired the holding in October 2023. Following layoffs at the studio, Toys for Bob spun off from Activision in May 2024.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:34 UTC on Monday, 10 August 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Toys for Bob on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Salli.

San Diego Comic-Con delivered one of the biggest news weekends of the year, and we're digging into all of it on this week's AIPT Comics Podcast. We break down DC's latest Next Level announcements, including new ongoing series for Vixen, Static, Batman, The Demon, and Jonah Hex, react to Marvel's Predator vs. Punisher, unpack Christian Ward's newly announced Pandemonium, and even talk about Ryan Gosling's surprising Ghost Rider reveal. If it made headlines at SDCC, we're giving it the full AIPT treatment. After that, David sits down with Christian Ward to discuss Forever Home, his ambitious new Oni Press series with Sami Kivelä. Ward explains how the story grew from a simple yet unforgettable premise: a house that survives climate collapse by falling outside of time, where every 20 minutes inside equals a year in the outside world. The conversation explores the book's emotional family drama, its retro-futuristic design, climate anxiety, billionaire bunkers, and why Kivelä's storytelling elevates every page. Ward also reflects on balancing writing and art, teases what's next in his career, and shares why Forever Home is one of his most personal creator-owned projects to date. Some mornings you wake up expecting a normal daily comedy show. This... was not one of those mornings.TJ Miller sends the crew a surprise delivery of gourmet peanut butter before stopping by later, and suddenly everyone becomes an expert food critic. Cherry chocolate? Chocolate coconut? Toffee crunch? There are passionate opinions, questionable life choices, and at least one person ready to smear it on absolutely everything.Meanwhile, Lern officially reaches the finish line of an entire month without alcohol, and the crew wastes absolutely zero time asking the important questions. Does she feel different? Is she immediately celebrating? What exactly is the first airport drink after a month of sobriety? The answers lead to a surprisingly honest—and hilarious—conversation about habits, moderation, and why airport cocktails somehow exist outside normal life rules. Then things take another unexpected turn when the crew dives into brand-new statistics showing that daily marijuana use has officially surpassed daily alcohol consumption in America. Naturally, nobody can simply read the numbers and move on. Instead, the discussion wanders through changing social habits, cannabis culture, nightly routines, and whether America has quietly rewritten the rulebook on what "unwinding after work" actually looks like.As if that wasn't enough chaos already, the gang celebrates another birthday, previews everything coming in August—from football returning and Cardinals optimism to new TV shows, movies, and bizarre national holidays—and somehow manages to make even a calendar feel ridiculous. It's the perfect mix of weird news, sarcastic commentary, pop culture, and the kind of conversations that somehow only make sense when you're hanging out with The Rizzuto Show.If you're looking for a daily comedy show packed with funny stories, celebrity chatter, unexpected debates, and the kind of off-the-rails conversations that feel like you're sitting in the studio with the crew, you've found it. Whether you're here for the laughs, the ridiculous opinions, or simply wondering which peanut butter flavor wins the day, this episode delivers exactly the kind of unpredictable energy that keeps people coming back. Thanks for listening to another daily comedy show from The Rizzuto Show. Welcome to Pandemonium, the plane where the wind screams, gravity is a rumor, and every emergency exit has a reasonable chance of dropping you directly into the Abyss. Tyler explains the cosmology, Randall attempts to locate something resembling a usable map, Ash discovers that the wind is made from every scream anyone has ever screamed, and Producer Dan quietly realizes this entire episode will require aggressive noise reduction. Pack darkvision, ear protection, and a backup character. The weather is hostile, the architecture hates you, and even the demons would rather be somewhere else. Show Notes This week on the RPGBOT.Podcast, we descend into Pandemonium, the endlessly dark maze of caves where hurricane-force winds carry ancient voices, communication is nearly impossible, and prolonged exposure can leave travelers deaf, insane, or both. The crew explores the plane's four layers, from the enormous caverns of Pandesmos to the narrowing tunnels of Cocytus, the marginally more gravity-compliant Phlegethon, and the sealed chambers of Agathion, where forgotten horrors wait patiently for some adventurer with a shovel and poor judgment. Along the way, we examine Pandemonium's strange inhabitants, exiled gods, nihilistic settlements, bizarre monsters, and oddly specific afterlives. We also follow the River Styx, investigate portals that treat destinations as optional suggestions, and discover a magical shouting spot that lets you insult someone anywhere in the multiverse, provided invisible shadow demons do not eat you first. Finally, the episode turns to using spells against player characters. The hosts discuss why illusion magic becomes terrifying in the hands of a villain, how Pass Without Trace can transform ordinary goblins into a tactical nightmare, and why Dungeon Masters should give enemy spellcasters clever strategies without simply making the players miserable. Darkness, deafening winds, madness, and unpredictable gravity can challenge a party without requiring constant monster encounters. The plane contains four layers: Pandesmos, Cocytus, Phlegethon, and Agathion. Each becomes more difficult to navigate, survive, or pronounce. The wind does more than make noise. It carries voices, screams, threats, and other sounds from across history, creating an endless supernatural chorus capable of destroying a traveler's sanity. Navigation is nearly impossible when characters can walk along cave walls and ceilings and rivers can flow in whatever direction they feel like flowing. Most of Pandemonium's inhabitants are exiles, prisoners, refugees, or creatures that arrived accidentally and cannot leave. Nobody appears to have moved there because of the excellent schools. Agathion's sealed pockets make excellent prisons, vaults, and adventure locations for ancient beings that absolutely should not be awakened. The River Styx and Pandemonium's portals provide possible escape routes, but memory loss, random destinations, and ambush predators make every option terrible in a different way. Pandemonium works best when the plane itself feels like the primary antagonist. The monsters should be additional complications, not the only source of danger. Enemy illusionists can create memorable encounters, but Dungeon Masters should apply the same standards to NPC illusions that they apply to player illusions. Smart enemies using stealth, terrain, traps, and spells such as Pass Without Trace can turn supposedly weak creatures into serious threats without artificially increasing their statistics. AGITATORS ANONYMOUS the Alan Averill Podcast

Introducing Polish concept ensemble Deamonolith. The band was founded in 2022, but its members have been consistently active in the underground scene since the 90s (we played in bands like Pandemonium, Imperator, Lost Soul, Sacriversum, Gortal and others). They have just released their debut album in cooperation with domestic labels: Godz ov War Productions and Ancient Dead Productions. This is not a common release, as it consists of one track crafted in 35 minutes of experimental death metal with elements of black, thrash, doom and progressive elements. So far, the album has received some excellent reviews (e.g.: https://www.voicesfromthedarkside.de/review/deamonolith-the-monolithic-cult-of-death/). The hosts emphasize the films' significant cultural impact and commercial success, particularly the profound themes of patriotism and sacrifice woven into the narratives. Madhavan. Throughout their discourse, Benny and Minal address the controversies surrounding the films, particularly the implications of perceived ideological messaging, while maintaining an objective stance on the storytelling and cinematic techniques utilized by director Aditya Dhar. This is a rebroadcast of one of our favorite episodes from the past! It's a scientific controversy of planetary proportions! Is Pluto a planet, or not? You decide, after we present two sides of an epic astronomy argument. Back in 2006, the International Astronomer's Union voted on a definition of the word “planet” that excluded Pluto and other newly dubbed “dwarf planets” from planethood status. Astronomers - and everybody else - quickly chose sides. We dive deep into the debate and learn that Pluto's not the only Space Object Formerly Known As A Planet. Then we'll ask you to weigh in with your opinion, and see if you can find “consensus” on what should be called a planet. Featuring planetary astronomer Kirby Runyon. We have a present for your birthday!! We'll be doing birthday shoutouts for our Patreon members, beginning next month. Want to hear a message on the podcast just for your special day? Pledge at the $5 level at patreon.com/tumblepodcast. You'll be helping us make the show, and we also have extra audio goodies for you. Hear more from our interviews with scientists! For this episode, Kirby Runyon expands on the different types of planets, and the fascinating features you can find on each one. There's more about planets, on our website at sciencepodcastforkids.com. Don't forget to subscribe to Tumble and tell your friends! See the new "Eight Planets in the Solar System" video here.

JKL Media Reviews discusses The Expanse Season 2 finale, "Caliban's War," with hosts Karen, Jesse, and Lou praising its season-finale feel, character payoffs, and key set pieces. They highlight the striking Venus sequence where the Arbogast is disassembled by the protomolecule, noting Iturbe and Janice's banter and Adam Savage's cameo as the navigator, and speculate about the missing Mars ship and the moving crater. On the Mao ship, Chrisjen, Cotyar, and Bobbie navigate a standoff tied to Errinwright and Mao, with Bobbie retrieving her suit and saving the day. On the Rocinante, Prax's botanist insight helps lure and destroy the protomolecule hybrid while Holden, pinned and facing compartment syndrome, says potential goodbyes; Amos and Naomi confront their conflict. The episode ends with Naomi revealing she gave the protomolecule to Fred Johnson, threatening her relationship with Holden, while Strickland is shown on Io with May alive in a pod.

The Go Radio Football Show: March 9th, 2026. PLAY and HIT SUBSCRIBE, and NEVER miss an episode! Paul Cooney, Kevin Kyle and Charlie Mulgrew answer your calls and dissect the biggest stories in Scottish Football today. Celtic's Houdini Act With a depleted squad missing McGregor, Tierney and others, Celtic somehow survive 120 minutes under siege. Centre‑halves Trusty, Scales, and Murray earn major praise for a “backs‑to‑the‑wall” masterclass. Fans and pundits debate whether Martin O'Neill is working miracles — and whether momentum can carry into the league. Rangers Dominance… But No Cutting Edge Kyle and Mulgrew break down how Rangers controlled territory but couldn't convert. Callers rip into Danny Röhl for “caution”, “lack of identity”, and poor substitutions. Key talking point: How can a £45m squad not beat a Celtic team held together by tape? The Aftermath: Chaos, Policing & Fan Behaviour Calls pour in from supporters who were there — some frightened, some furious. Debate erupts on blame: policing? stewarding? fan groups? or a wider societal issue? The Phone-In: Emotions Running Hot Rangers fans rage at missed opportunities and question Röhl's long-term future. Celtic fans celebrate — but admit their team is on its knees. Heated exchanges on VAR lines, refereeing standards, atmosphere, and the future of Scottish football culture Beyond the Old Firm Falkirk and Dunfermline land massive Scottish Cup scalps. St Mirren advance to face Celtic — bringing a Lennie vs O'Neill storyline into play. Debate sparks over the lack of Scottish players at big clubs, with Falkirk praised as a model. The Projection Booth continues its dive into Australian cinema with Pandemonium, the delirious 1987 feature from writer-director Haydn Keenan. A film that plays like a fever dream filtered through exploitation cinema, absurdist theater, and cultural anxiety, Pandemonium resists easy summary—and happily punishes anyone who tries. The story unfolds through the fractured testimony of Kales Leadingham, an escapee from an asylum portrayed by David Argue, who recounts his time working as a surveyor at a decaying movie studio run by the grotesque siblings (or spouses?) EB and PB De Wolf. What follows is a barrage of unstable identities, pagan imagery, religious parody, sexual panic, fascist satire, and mythic nonsense, all orbiting the enigmatic “Dingo Girl,” whose presence seems to fracture reality itself.Mike is joined by Heather Drain and Payton McCarty-Simas to unpack Keenan's anything-goes approach to narrative, performance, and tone. The discussion wrestles with the film's wild accents, confrontational humor, taboo imagery, and relentless escalation—from Nazi roleplay and talking mirrors to possessed dolls, zombie parties, musical numbers, and outright apocalyptic imagery.  The episode also features an interview with Haydn Keenan, who reflects on the film's creation, its confrontational sensibility, and its afterlife as a cult object.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-projection-booth-podcast--5513239/support.Become a supporter of The Projection Booth at http://www.patreon.com/projectionbooth
