Patreon.com/RememberTheGame XCOM 2 has been lurking near the top of my "someday I'll play it" list for years, and I finally puled the trigger (no pun intended). After over 70 hours of sitting at my PC fighting aliens, I can safely say that XCOM 2 isn't just one of the best tactical RPGs I've ever played, but one of the best games I've ever played, period. If you've never played it, XCOM 2 is a tactical RPG, like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics. You move your soldiers around on a board game-esque grid, and take turns with the computer, who's doing the same with aliens and robots. But in between missions, you're traveling the world gathering resources and using them to upgrade both your troops and your ship. Aliens have taken over the planet, and it's up to you to take it back. It's a little tough to pick up out of the gate, but once you're over the hump, it's addictive as hell. My guest this week is the winner of our Extra-Life charity auction from last December, Robert. He picked this game and now I can see why. We get into the meat of XCOM 2, talk about the superb War of the Chosen DLC, talk about our favourite soldier/ability/equipment combinations, and laugh at the bulshit that is missing a 94% shot with your ass on the line. And before we save the world, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, we HAVE to talk a little Switch 2. How am I feeling about WrestleMania this year? And will OG Switch games be discounted after the Switch 2 drops? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 of the highest scored tactical RPGs on Metacritic: Valkyrie Chronicles, Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, and Fire Emblem: Awakening. Learn more about your ad choices. What a game. You could tell they planned for it to be a last hoorah for the franchise if they failed. We also worked on new audio in a new software for the show that isnt perfect but way better than what it used to be. Hope you enjoy the new changes. The Nintendo Entertainment Podcast is here, and with a new episode comes a returning former theme...a two-man show! With that, Todd and Will discuss their gaming exploits! Todd hasn't been gaming much but has plenty to talk about with FEH, Comic-Cons, and more! As for Will, he also has plenty to say about FEH, while also talking Splatoon 3, Unicorn Overlord, and more! Then, in the news, the duo reveals the winner of the latest Splatfest, and Will is VERY happy about it! Also, Thousand-Year Door has gotten some preview insights and a new trailer; the next Sonic film will pay tribute to a key Dreamcast title, Mario apparently "feels pain," and more! Finally, the two look at the anniversary of Fire Emblem Awakening and talk about the pros and cons of it becoming a AAA franchise through the title! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast!
Fire Emblem Awakening, developed by Intelligent Systems and released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012, is a tactical role-playing game that has set a high standard for the genre. The game follows the story of Prince Chrom and the player-created character, known as the tactician, as they rally allies to save the kingdom of Ylisse from impending doom. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ongamecast/support
This week Paula's been getting deeper in mafia business and repeatedly dying while trying to survive the apocalypse. Meanwhile Josh has been finishing off a co-op adventure and taking the time to tidy things up before falling further into the Rusty Lake universe. What really matters though, are the comfort games we hold dear to our heart, so we have a bit of a chat about some perhaps unexpected titles that always make us feel good. Fire Emblem Awakening is often dubbed the savior of Fire Emblem series as things weren't looking good for one of our favorite tactics games. For better or worse, Fire Emblem Awakening introduced a lot of interesting new mechanics, like the pair-up system, while also reacquainting the series with offspring units. It's also known for its unbalanced gameplay that usually leads to playthroughs with only a handful of characters. Come hear our thoughts on the 3DS's first Fire Emblem entry! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rpgaymer/support

So this is something new! Your friend and mine, John Robbins normally does a lot of our OSMinterviews. But this time, he got to instead moderate a Question-and-Answer panel for Amanda Miller at this year's MTAC Blackjack. This is the audio from that panel. And chances are, you have heard the voice of Amanda Miller before! Some of her most well-known roles include Sailor Jupiter, in the Viz Media re-dub of the classic Sailor Moon series and the new Sailor Moon Crystal series, Junko Enoshima and Toko Fukawa in the Danganronpa video game series, Sully and Cherche in Fire Emblem Awakening, Takeru Aizawa in Squid Girl, and Boruto Uzumaki in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. And because this was a general con Q&A panel, she gets all sorts of questions. All. Sorts. Enjoy!OSMnotesWe want to thank Amanda once again for taking the time to chat with us! Fire Emblem Awakening and Tears of the Kingdom are the focus of today's episode. We talk about unnecessary swan dives, hesitantly killing children, and pogo stick shields.
We're gathered here today to mourn & celebrate the life of a video game console, Nintendo's last handheld-only device, the small but mighty Nintendo 3DS.As of March 27th, 2023, the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS and Wii U will be officially shut down, meaning 866 Wii U games and 1547 3DS games will no longer be available to purchase. We've already dedicated an episode in the past to the Nintendo Wii U, so today we're taking a look back at our memories of the 3DS: our favorite games to grace the device, StreetPass & other quirky apps, its hit-&-miss use of its signature stereoscopic 3D gimmick, and some last-minute purchases we've recently downloaded & played in the eShop's twilight hours. Plus we wax poetic a bit about the death of digital media, the importance of video game preservation, and the ethics of p*racy & emulation (not that we know what tf we're talking about! we're just two gaymers with a podcast and opinions!) If you're listening to this before 3/27/23, we hope this episode provides a couple of last-minute game recommendations to download! Otherwise... we don't know what to tell ya, but thanks for listening anyways! Good luck finding a physical copy of some of these games on eBay I guess? RIP to the 3DS. You had a good at it, thanks for your input

Here's an episode for everyone, whether you fell in love with video games on the Game Boy or the Nintendo Switch. In honor of the Steamdeck launch this month, The Resties construct the *perfect* list of the best portable games of all time. To accomplish this worthy task, they first uncover the key components of any magnificent portable game. Discussed on this episode: Spelunky HD, Hades, Tetris, Mario Golf Advance, Fire Emblem Awakening, Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade, Into the Breach, Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, Persona 4 Golden, and Gravity Rush.
You know what's a good game? The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Fire Emblem: Awakening is also really good. And the Last of the Nintendogs crew talks a lot about both of those games this week because they're discussing their favorite Nintendo 3DS games. On this episode, the Nintenmutts also continue to struggle with Mario's casting news. What they don't have to struggle with, however, is their excitement for a new 3D Kirby game. Oh, and Mike really likes the new Super Monkey Ball. Come listen to all of that and more. Fire Emblem Awakening released in North America back in 2013. Intended to be the final swansong of the franchise, it instead found success on a magnitude it the series had never seen before. Critics and players alike praised its new focus on accessibility and the centrality of the support conversations between characters. These changes allowed everyone to experience a much wider swath of Fire Emblem Awakening's content and word of mouth managed to make the turn-based strategy title one of the most popular games for Nintendo's 3DS. This week we are joined by Julian Rizzo-Smith to talk all things Fire Emblem and figure out if Fire Emblem Awakening is one of the best games of all-time! Outro music: Super Smash Bros. This Week on The Casual Hour... We break down all the announcements from Nintendo's stealth Direct Mini (and Chase laments the lack of Fire Emblem information). Despite the “mini” nature, there was a lot to unpack here, along with a few fun surprises. Meanwhile on the game-playing front, Chase has finished Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, which has made room on his plate for….Fire Emblem: Awakening. Guess he really likes that franchise or something. Bobby's testing the strategy game waters as well with his foray into the iPad version of XCOM: Enemy Within, which seems like a dream compared to the other game he's playing: Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. Mayanna Berrin, formerly of the ThinkGeek store in Orlando, FL and now residing in California, joins us for Episode 47. We start off with a quick discussion about ThinkGeek and the ThinkGeek stores before moving onto one of Mayanna's favorite fandoms. Steven Universe. She discusses the plot, art style, characters, episodes and of course, fandom drama. It is definitely an eye opener to hear about this show and everything it encompasses. From there, we talk about the Legend of Zelda franchise. Find out which games she's beat, which game is her favorite and why she just loves the franchise. She recommends people watch the 90's anime Revolutionary Girl Utena and play the 3DS game Fire Emblem: Awakening or Fire Emblem: Fates for a good tactical game with a great story.
