Music has a way of reaching our souls like nothing else, and today we're diving into Mercy Me's powerful new rendition of "Nothing but the Blood of Jesus" from their recently released Cabin Sessions. The veteran Christian band recorded this timeless hymn in their newly purchased log cabin outside Nashville—a sacred space they've dedicated to prayer, study, and creating music that speaks to the heart of faith. What makes this recording particularly special is Mercy Me's inclusion of two often-omitted verses from the original hymn that speak to overcoming life's challenges and reaching our eternal home through Christ's sacrifice. These forgotten lyrics add deeper dimensions to an already profound song. Whether you're familiar with this hymn or hearing it for the first time, their cabin session performance breathes new life into these sacred words, creating five minutes of music that will center your Monday and remind you of the foundation of Christian faith. Listen now, and let their harmonies wash over you like the very grace they're singing about. Here is the YouTube link to Nothing But The Bloodhttps://youtu.be/ay0vnkRd7mQ?si=45MxTPbxeGkgALTIWe would love to hear your comments. This Sunday's Inspirational Message is: God's Call - Our Response Acts 16:9-15 is a beautiful picture of how God works. He called Paul to Macedonia, prepared a humble riverside in Philippi, and opened Lydia's heart to spark a church. That same God is working in Argyle today. He's calling you to follow, preparing places for you to serve, and opening hearts around you. Here's the thing: You don't need to be a missionary like Paul or a businesswoman like Lydia. You just need to say yes to God—one step, one conversation, one act of faith at a time. ·         Will you listen for His call? ·         Will you step into the places He's prepared? ·         Will you share Jesus and trust Him to open hearts?   * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! If you enjoyed this episode and want to help support this ministry, please share it with others and post about it on social media. “Scripture quotations taken from the Holy Bible: New American Standard Bible. 1995. LaHabra, CA: The Lockman Foundation. It reminds us of the pervasiveness and seriousness of sin. It outlines the provision of a Holy God who maintains justice while dwelling amongst a sinful people. And ultimately it points to Christ crucified; that there is nothing but the blood of Jesus that can truly deal with our sin.

36 Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I go over there to pray.” 37 He took Peter and Zebedee's two sons, James and John, and he became anguished and distressed. 38 He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39 He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” 40 Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, “Couldn't you watch with me even one hour? 41 Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” 42 Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away[f] unless I drink it, your will be done.” 43 When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn't keep their eyes open. 44 So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again. 45 Then he came to the disciples and said, “Go ahead and sleep. Have your rest. But look—the time has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Up, let's be going. Look, my betrayer is here!” Jesus Is Betrayed and Arrested 47 And even as Jesus said this, Judas, one of the twelve disciples, arrived with a crowd of men armed with swords and clubs. They had been sent by the leading priests and elders of the people. 48 The traitor, Judas, had given them a prearranged signal: “You will know which one to arrest when I greet him with a kiss.” 49 So Judas came straight to Jesus. “Greetings, Rabbi!” he exclaimed and gave him the kiss.

I often think of one of my favorite hymns, that goes like this:   What can wash away my sin?"  with a refrain, "Nothing but the blood of Jesus."   The song is simple yet profound in its meaning—the blood of Jesus, shed on the cross, is God's way of washing away the guilt and stain of sin in our lives!   In one of the Apostle Paul's letters to the church at Corinth, he spoke on the issue of the blood of Jesus.  Here is some of what he said:    18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise And the understanding of those who have understanding, I will confound."   20 Where is the wise person? Here is the scribe. Here is the debater of this age: as God did not make foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.   Paul explained that the wisdom of God, as manifested through the Cross of Christ, was a "stumbling block" to the Jews, and the Gentiles as well.  On the cross, Jesus, the Son of God, shed his blood for us. Through his death and resurrection, God worked to cleanse us of the guilt of sin, pay the penalty of the sin of humanity, and, finally, conquer death for us all.  This is the Gospel message!   It is all based upon the work of Jesus on the cross; His blood, shed for us on the cross, is God's plan to save humanity.             The Jews resist this message, because it means that their religious experiences and rituals, and their lineage as the 'people of God,' cannot save them.  Too,  the Gentiles rebel against the message of the cross, because the wisdom of this world, and the accomplishments of man, cannot separate them from the guilt of their sin.  Only the message of the cross can save anyone!   Modern man has a problem when confronted with talk of the "blood of Jesus;"  that sort of talk seems so outdated and barbaric!  However, this is the wisdom of God that guides us, invites God's power to work in our lives, and enables us to live in a relationship with God, both now and in the life that is to come.   Here is another passage from the Apostle Paul, this time from his letter to the church at Rome.  "But God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.  Romans 5:8-9    Let us all accept this wisdom that is from God, and live!   Your support is invaluable in spreading our ministry's message. Following Jesus is not merely about belief; it costs us our lives, as it did the martyrs in John's vision.

This Sunday's Inspirational Message is: No Longer A Spectator In Luke 5:1-11, Peter is just going through the motions of life. He's fishing, working, paying bills—just doing what he's always done. But then, Jesus steps into his boat. And that one moment changes everything. Peter has a choice to make: 1.     Stay in the shallow waters of what's familiar, or 2.     Trust Jesus and step into the deep waters of faith. That's what I want to talk about today: "A Deeper Call—From Fisherman to Follower." Because Jesus isn't just inviting us to believe in Him—He's inviting us to follow Him. As we go through this story, I want us to think about three things: 1.     Are we just listening to Jesus, or are we actually following Him? 2.     Are we willing to trust Him, even when it doesn't make sense? 3.     What is Jesus calling us to leave behind so we can go deeper? So let me ask you—is Jesus calling you deeper today? Are you ready to stop playing it safe and step out in faith? * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! If you enjoyed this episode and want to help support this ministry, please share it with others and post about it on social media. “Scripture quotations taken from the Holy Bible: New American Standard Bible. 1995. LaHabra, CA: The Lockman Foundation. There's a famous clip of hall of fame NFL coach Bill Parcells telling his players during a game, “This is what you worked all off season for, this is why you lift all them weights.” He's telling his players not to give up when the game gets tough. Don't let all the blood, sweat, and tears in the weight room turn out for nothing. Coaches make it their goal to not let past accomplishments cause present complacency. Instead of resting on their laurels, athletes need to look to their past efforts as fuel for present endurance. Hebrews like a good head coach exhorts the church to remember their past adversity and God's faithfulness so that they do not turn away. There's no neutrality in the Christian life. We're either moving toward or away from Christ. Hebrews jolts us awake to this reality and calls us to keep fighting. Don't give in. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” These opening lines of the Bible reveal an often overlooked truth: heaven and earth serve as two realms of God's creation that interlock and mirror one another. Hebrews focuses on how Jesus brings about a new priesthood, sacrifice, and covenant that fulfills and makes obsolete the old. In response, non-Christian Jews accuse their Jewish Christian brethren of innovation. They're departing from the law of God, the Old Covenant, into heresy by following Jesus. Here's the brilliance of Hebrews 9:1-10:18 — the Old Covenant itself down to the architecture of the Tabernacle that Moses built points to Jesus and the New Covenant. God never intended his story to end with the Old Covenant Tabernacle, priesthood, and sacrifices. These all serve as earthly shadows of the heavenly reality into which Christ enters and accomplishes an eternal redemption. This is Understanding Hebrews. Power of Purity | Helping Men to Honor God with their Sexual Gift

This is Episode 400 of The Power of Purity Podcast! The Blood Arrow! If you were an Indian and you went hunting, you'd probably take more than one arrow in your quiver.  In fact, you'd probably want a whole quiver full of arrows, so you'd have plenty of shots ready if you needed them. In much the same way, people need many different "arrows" in their metaphorical quiver that they can draw upon in their struggle/battle agaisnt temptations.  We need to have a battle plan in place, before the temptation arises, so that when the moment of truth arrives we have some resources, concepts, and strategies we can immediately employ in the face of that partiuclar temptation.  These strategies are the "arrows" in our quiver, and in this episode Tony presents the concept of a new arrow to fight this battle: The Blood Arrow! The blood of Jesus is very powerful! The blood of Jesus brings us the forgiveness of our sins, makes us a child of God when we beleive in Jesus, gives us a relationship with living God, and even gives us the gift of eternal life. So, the strategy here is to call upon the blood of Christ in response to temptation.  Take out the "blood arrow" and unleash its power in the face of temptation! In this episode Tony shares 9 powerful scripture verses about the blood of Jesus, and 3 powerful songs about the blood of Jesus. The next time you're confronted with temptation, quote at least 3 verses about the blood, and sing a chorus about the blood, and you will be empowered to overcome... by the blood arrow!
