Patrick Shelley, Founder of Origin Spirits, talks to us about his journey from working with LVMH to establishing his own premium brand and range of spirits including the first Irish whiskey finished in seaweed charred casks. And in a world exclusive we unveil their latest new release.

Origin is one movie where it turned out better then we were expecting but it still fell short of what we were hoping for. But for a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by genetically modified forest on a moon, you really expect too much it was a nice change of pace from the normal. One of the biggest things that we found funny was that Agito for about half the time was yelling out Toola all the while being enhanced from the tree people of the forest so that he can take a cannon shot right to the face. This was a movie that was well worth the watch. There is a lot that happens in this movie with a deeper meaning. With the aspects being reflective on us as a whole. The character No Face was a character that could be any of us showing what being gluttonous can do to someone. If you have not seen this movie then you should because it has a deeper meaning not just for how we act but in everything. The growing demand for Irish whiskey has inspired new innovation by Irish whiskey distilleries across every aspect of fermentation, distillation and maturation. It's not just the distilleries that are innovating either. New whiskey brands are finding unique ways to collaborate with distilleries to bring products to the market that may not have become a reality without such a collaboration. One of these collaborations has launched this week and may indeed be a world's first. In this episode of Stories & Sips, I sit down with Patrick Shelley, founder of Origin Spirits, who this week launches his first whiskey, Currach Single Malt Irish Whiskey. What's unique and innovative about another new Irish whiskey, you might ask? Well this one marries Ireland's land and sea with the single malt whiskey finished in Irish seaweed casks - a first for the Irish whiskey industry. Patrick brings a unique global perspective and Irish pride to this whiskey and I love the collaboration and even a touch of madness that was needed to bring this to market.
