Our SUMMER VACATION heads east as we discuss Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away (2001) with returning guest General Slug, art director of Protean Magazine, noted weeb, and, of course, Devin's girlfriend.* We discuss the film's childlike view of a financially stagnate and spiritually polluted Japan, the relationship between identity, work, and leisure, No Face's speculative disruption of the bathhouse economy, and the film's ultimate fantasy: a boyfriend who is also a horse (and a dragon... and a wolf?). *fiancée Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, or BlueSky at @youretallpod. Join Alex and Dr. Ethan Harrod as they navigate the spirit world in Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece Spirited Away (2001)! The English language dubbed version features the voice acting of Daveigh Chase (RIP :'( ), Suzanne Pleshette, Jason Marsden, and Susan Egan. Chihiro is a little girl whose family is moving, when they happen upon a strangely deserted resort town. Her parents turn into pigs after eating some food, they are subsumed within a spirit world, and Chihiro, now named Sen, must navigate working for an evil witch named Yubaba so she can find her parents, turn them back into people and get out of the spirit world. Along the way, she meets No Face, a spirit that learns the value of family and empathy from Chihiro. Several topics are discussed in this episode, but cultural psychology — and the differences between this Japanese film and American films — is the overarching theme and concepts. It's definitely a beautiful film, so it deserves a watch — and parents, listen to your kids! Lima and Daryl debate whether the Browns' QB competition is already decided in Monken's head, with Daryl believing someone is quietly in the lead heading into training camp. The guys break down why the Browns haven't had a true franchise quarterback since Baker Mayfield, leaving the face of the team to guys like Denzel Ward and the newly acquired Jared Verse. With Watson's baggage and Shedeur still proving himself, Todd Monken's only concern is who gives them the best chance to score, fans be damned.
It was late, the kind of quiet that settles in when everything around you has finally slowed down. As they walked to the car, one of them noticed someone standing in the alley nearby. At first, it didn't seem like anything worth thinking about. Just a figure under a streetlight, standing still, not doing much of anything. But the longer they looked, the more something about it felt off. Then it started moving. Not the way a person normally would, and not in a way that made them feel safe sticking around to figure it out. By the time they got to the car, both of them knew something wasn't right. And when they looked back one last time, whatever they were seeing… wasn't something they could explain away.#RealGhostStories #ShadowFigure #FacelessEntity #ParanormalEncounter #DarkFigure #UnexplainedEncounter #TrueGhostStory #SomethingInTheAlley #GlowingEyes #ParanormalExperienceLove real ghost stories? Welcome back to the digital wasteland, fellow survivors. We kick things off in the FOLLOW UP by marking a year since the LA Fires—hello, PTSD—alongside a 4th Strokiversary and three years of sobriety, all while wondering why America is currently obsessed with shooting its own civilians in the face.In the IN THE NEWS segment, Wired is finally teaching us how to protest safely in the age of surveillance, and the EFF is cheering on the hackers fighting ICE's Nazi-adjacent tracking tactics. Meanwhile, Meta is harvesting your AI chats for targeted ads, Disney is paying $10 million for spying on kids, and Grok has spent the holidays generating nonconsensual child abuse material—a problem Elon Musk won't have to legally reckon with until the Take It Down Act hits in May. Instagram's Adam Mosseri has basically surrendered to the AI "slop", suggesting we fingerprint "real" media because the fake stuff has already won the war.As we continue the descent, OpenAI is launching a ChatGPT Health portal despite their "loser energy" and compute limits, while Character.AI and Google are quietly settling lawsuits for bots that encouraged teen suicide. Polymarket gamblers are learning that "decentralized" juries will fist you over the definition of an "invasion" just as fast as a bank. Uber showed off a new Lucid-based robotaxi, but we're pumping the brakes on the safety hype given that autonomous vehicles are five times more likely to crash at dusk. To wrap up the news, Tim Cook took home $74 million last year, which is a lot of "systematic philanthropy" he could be doing right now instead of just writing checks to his own ego.In MEDIA CANDY, we're suffering through the Stranger Things wrap-up and a John McTiernan holiday marathon, though the real highlight is MTV Rewind's tribute to music videos. We've got Traitors, The Pitt, and even a John Candy doc on the list, while APPS & DOODADS brings us the DJI Osmo 8, Victrola's turntable-vibrating speakers. At least California's DROP tool lets you purge your data from 500 brokers at once. Finally, we go to THE DARK SIDE WITH DAVE to hear Dave Bittner rant about holiday tech support, health insurance gouging, and Dave Filoni taking the Star Wars reins. We close out with a look at ILM's 50th, the deepfake porn cesspool formerly known as Twitter, and a birthday toast to the Starman himself, David Bowie.Sponsors:CleanMyMac - Get Tidy Today! First previewed by Adin Ross on November 10–11, 2025, the viral snippet instantly took over X, YouTube, and hip-hop timelines. Recorded back in the For All The Dogs (2023) era and nearly cut from both that album and Carti's long-delayed I AM MUSIC, “Slide In” flips Luther Vandross' classic “A House Is Not a Home” sample into moody trap-R&B with Swamp Izzo tags intact. Drake delivers toxic-relationship flexes on the melodic chorus while Carti unleashes chaotic opium energy, ad-libs, and aggressive bars in the second half. Fans are calling it an instant banger and potential song of 2026. Analytic Dreamz analyzes the tense Drake-Carti history post-2024 beef, Kendrick Lamar's influence, removed ad-libs on “No Face,” and whether this vaulted gem will finally drop on Drake's rumored ICEMAN album or stay a legendary leak. We all have those moments—hovering over the delete button, wondering if anyone else might see the digital breadcrumbs of our curiosity. This episode dives headfirst into those moments when our private digital lives suddenly become exposed.Jack kicks things off with a provocative thought experiment: what's your honest reaction when you discover something unexpected in someone else's browser history? Through hilarious personal anecdotes—including an unforgettable night at a Guam nightclub called "Denial" that takes an unexpected turn—we explore how these moments of accidental discovery can create both comedy and crisis in our relationships. The humor here isn't just for laughs; it reveals something deeper about how we navigate privacy, judgment, and acceptance in the digital age. When someone's browser history exposes interests or preferences they haven't shared with you, is it a betrayal or simply a part of their private world you weren't meant to see? This episode also debuts our new segment "No Face, No Case," where listeners can anonymously submit their relationship questions and dilemmas. Our first submission tackles a painful situation: discovering a long-term partner is bisexual and has been unfaithful with a mutual friend. In this haunting episode of The Dark Vault, we sit down with a listener who swore she didn't believe in ghosts — until one started following her. What began with a tragic encounter outside her school in Pasadena, Texas, spiraled into decades of fear, unexplained activity, and a chilling figure that watched her from every window. Her story takes us through trauma, skepticism, and a terrifying moment when others started seeing the same faceless man she thought was only in her head. This one will rattle you.

And this is Studio Ghibli's 2001 classic from famed writer-director Hayao Miyazaki. When 10-year-old Chihiro moves with her family to a new neighborhood, a wrong turn sees her trapped in the world of kami, the spirits of Japanese Shinto folklore. Raking in almost $400 million in coin, the film stood as the highest-grossing film in Japan for almost 20 years. Widely regarded as one of the best films ever made, animated or otherwise, it became the first hand-drawn, Japanese anime and non-English-language animated film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards. It also received North American distribution from Disney at the urging of Pixar's John Lasseter, who worked on the English dub, raising its profile with audiences stateside and introducing us to Soot Sprites, No-Face, and Haku the Dragon. Is 'Spirit Of Eden', the fourth studio album by British band Talk Talk, a deceptively understated masterpiece or an indulgent musical experiment gone awry? Rob and this week's returning guest Tom Lawery fall decidedly in the former camp. Released in 1988, the record is now often cited as the precursor to later so-called 'post-rock' albums by bands like Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Low and latter-period Radiohead. A year in its creation, painstakingly assembled from improvised performances that draw on elements of jazz, ambient, classical music, blues and dub, it's an album that ultimately rewards the deep-listen it requires. Songs discussed in this episode: The Rainbow, Talk Talk, April 5th, Life's What You Make It - Talk Talk; It's My Life (Talk Talk cover) - No Doubt; East Hastings - Godspeed You! Black Emperor; No Face, No Name, No Number - Traffic; The BEATen Generation - The The; The Rainbow - Talk Talk; Teen Age Riot - Sonic Youth; Eden - Talk Talk; Heroin - The Velvet Underground; Desire, Inheritance - Talk Talk; I'm Flying - The Shits; Do Anything You Wanna Do - Eddie and the Hot Rods; I Believe In You, Wealth - Talk Talk; The Watershed - Mark Hollis; I Believe In You (Talk Talk cover) - S. Drake's Surprise Finsta DropsAnalytic Dreamz dives deep into Drake's recent surprise music drops.Drake, known for pushing boundaries, has unleashed three new tracks through his less-publicized Instagram account, "@plottttwistttttt." Let's break down these surprise releases:"No Face" ft. Playboi Carti: This track is a fiery response to Drake's detractors. Lyrics like "I'm just so happy that n—s who envied and held that shit in got to finally show it," seem to target those who have spoken against him. Playboi Carti adds another layer of intensity to the track."SOD" (originally "Supersoak"): This song was initially a collaboration with Lil Yachty, but sample clearance issues led to his verse being removed. The title and some content might reference past feuds, but the overall vibe suggests Drake has moved on from direct confrontation."Circadian Rhythm": Fans speculate this track is a subtle reply to Kendrick Lamar's "6:16 in LA," where Lamar references "circadian rhythms." This hints at a potential continuation of their lyrical battle, albeit indirectly. These surprise drops follow Drake's activity on 100gigs.org, where he shared a massive collection of unreleased music. This period of high creative output suggests a potential larger project brewing. The use of "finsta" adds an interesting twist. Bypassing traditional release strategies, Drake connects directly with fans, creating a sense of surprise and exclusivity.
