This week we dive into Rokudo Bad Girls. The story is about a bullied underdog Rokudo who inherits a magic scroll that makes every bad girl, fall head over heels for him any time he's near. We go into detail about the show and the bold‑lined animation style, and we compare Roku's nonstop crying to the energy of Tokyo Revengers, we also wonder whether his shift from pushover to protector ever really sticks. In the end this show only really has surface‑level fun with a dash of character growth, even if our hero stays pretty whiny throughout, so if you're after something deeper, this probably isn't the show for you.Next Week's Pick: "Temple" Have you had the chance to watch Rokudo Bad Girl or any of our previous selections? In this episode we dive headfirst into 86's brutal drone war nonsense. The Republic claims a “bloodless conflict,” but it's really run on invisible 86ers shoved into glass-cannon mechs. We chat about Lena's efforts to bring hope to Shin and his crew, and what this anime reminds us of in terms of undertones that were not so subtle. We also touch on Shin's psychic telepathy angle and that slow-burn connection between him and Lena. Sure, the pacing stumbles with flashbacks on repeat and a few loose threads never get resolved, but the heart of the story still packs a punch.Next Week's Pick: "Rokudo Bad Girls"Have you had the chance to watch 86 or any of our previous selections? This week is all about I May Be A Guild Receptionist, But I'll Solo Any Boss To Clock Out On Time with just Jack. Now the story is something that is pretty solid and it had all the makings of a great show. The story was easy enough to follow and it did focus on what the title exactly is and it really highlights her struggles. But also at the same time there is no real depth to some of it and honestly you are left with far more questions then what you are given answers too leaving you with a open ending. Even with that it is still worth a watch.Next Week's Pick: "Eighty-Six - 86" Have you had the chance to watch I May Be A Guild Receptionist, But I'll Solo Any Boss To Clock Out On Time or any of our previous selections? This week is all about Farming Life in Another World. Which was a recommendation. It was a nice change of pace from last weeks choice it had it's funny moments and time where it was entertaining but overall it was a show that was very middling for us. Where the faults just seemed to drag it down. This week is all about Witch Hunter Robin with just Jack. The story is about a young pyrokinetic witch working for Solomon. For Jack this is trip down memory lane and for him it was honestly best left there. The lack of certain plot point and the plot holes and slow pacing made it a tough rewatch. In this episode, we talked all about Berserk Of Gluttony Which was a recommendation from Jeb. This week we continue with Gate part 2 an isekai that take a different approach to the usually genre. And just like part 1 it did not disappoint at all. We get some resolutions that we were hoping for. The story progressed in a way that we predicted, it answered most of our questions and gave us a somewhat of an ending. All in all this is a story that is worth a watch just not if you are new to the genre.Next Week's Pick: "Berserk of Gluttony" Have you had the chance to watch Gate Part 2 or any of our previous selections? In this episode we dive into Gate part 1 an isekai that take a different approach to the usually genre and it was a recommendation from "Elf Daddy Girl Issues" and "Danner536". This anime certainly doesn't pull it's punches on how things would likely go when a you pit medieval against modern military dishing out some “f around and find out” pretty much through the whole story. The Character development and story was solid for the show and it was well worth the watch.Next Week's Pick: "Gate Part 2" Have you had the chance to watch Gate Part 1 or any of our previous selections? This week is a solo week as Rick is out sick and Jack dives into I'm Quitting Heroing. Thank you Goose for the recommendation! This anime changes up the normal anime narrative for Hero style anime in that rather then a journey to defeat th Demon lord our MC Leo is trying to join them. But that is just the start of it. This week we dive into the second season of Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense. The story largely just continues on with Maple and her guild, Maple Tree, continue exploring new levels and content in the game they play, New World Online. Maple continues to stick to her strategy of only maxing out her defense stat, continually stumbling upon overpowered, game-breaking skills that baffle the game's developers despite the fact that they were the ones that put them in. On thing more notable is that we felt like Season 2 gives more attention to the other guild members.Next Week's Pick: "Goblin Slayer Season 2" Have you had the chance to watch Bofuri Season 2 or any of our previous selections? In this episode, we talked all about Code Geass Season 2. We dug into how it picks up right after the Season 1 cliffhanger, with Lelouch living a normal school life until his memories come back and he jumps right back into leading the Black Knights. Things quickly go from a local rebellion to full-blown global war. We also revisited out discussion on how Lelouch's Geass works, especially its limits as a result of that some of that talk got a little off-track. But overall, we both agreed Season 2 tied up a lot of loose ends from the first season and delivered a strong finish. Although Jack docked it a point for some gaps and unanswered questions. All in all it was a solid watch, well worth your time, especially if you liked Season 1.Next Week's Pick: "Bofuri Season 2" Have you had the chance to watch Code: Geass Season 2 or any of our previous selections? In this episode, we discussed Season 1 of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. And while we spent the episode mostly talking about the show and how it had and amazing story with some great writing. We also pointed out a couple of flaws along with a discussion about the Geass power's limits also got pretty heated and went way off into hypotheticals, maybe derailing things a bit. And the biggest negative we both agreed on? That incredibly frustrating cliffhanger ending! Season two delves deeper into Koko ambitious plan she calls "Jormungand" and how it is designed to reshape the global landscape in a maner of speaking and basically position her crew as the world's last soldiers in her mind. The show does maintains its globe-trotting adventure style, while also exploring deeper character development.Throughout this season though there were some significant shifts in character dynamics so to certain plot devices and Koko becomes more focused, driven by personnel loss, and Jonah faces conflict in his ideologies. The story moves from simply telling viewers about characters' pasts to showing their abilities. Season 2 does a great job balancing fast-paced action with character interactions, creating a solid conclusion to the series.Next Week's Pick: "Code: Geass Season 1" Have you had the chance to watch Jormungand Season 2 or any of our previous selections? This week we talk about Jormungand season 1 and dives headfirst into the gritty world of arms dealing through the eyes of Koko, a cunning arms dealer backed by a team of seasoned bodyguards, veterans, and Jonah, a young boy-soldier. It explores themes of revenge, morality, weapons trade, giving you a solid story that is packed with action and drama. And the shows unique art style and dual-episode arcs provided engaging mini-stories that give you the feel of several short stories in 1 longer story. Although there were some brief moments that seemed slightly out of place, the series remains a strong recommendation for us if you're looking for an intense, action-packed show that has a decent enough story to go with it.Next Week's Pick: "Jormungand season 2" Have you had the chance to watch The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent or any of our previous selections? This week we discuss "Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent" a fantasy romance isekai that is not like your typical action-packed isekais, this anime focuses on character growth through a slow-burn narrative following Sei. Instead of dwelling on this, Sei pursues her passions at a research institute where she discovers her magical abilities and lends a helpting hand to her new home. This isn't for viewers seeking fast-paced action but perfect for those who appreciate a strong female lead in a gradual romantic storyline, making it an excellent "palate cleanser" between more intense shows.Next Week's Pick: "The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent season 2" Have you had the chance to watch The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent or any of our previous selections? This week we dive into Kaiju No. 8. We break down the series, which follows Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old man who once dreamed of joining JAKDF, but instead finds himself cleaning up after the battles. But then his life changes when he ingests a parasitic kaiju, transforming into a powerful humanoid monster known as Kaiju No. 8. We discuss the anime's strengths, from its storytelling and humor to its lack of filler episodes and excellent character development while also getting lost in the weeds for a couple of minutes as well by touching on the differences between sub and dub translations, the anime's world-building, and its standout music and animation.Next Week's Pick: "The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent" Have you had the chance to watch Kaiju No. 8 or any of our previous selections? This week we talk about Magical Girl Spec Ops Asuka and its dark twist on the magical girl genre. The story follows Asuka, a former magical girl struggling with PTSD, forced back into battle. While the show portrays trauma and military themes, the pacing, forced shifts in tone, and poor character development weaken it as a whole. We debate whether magic undermines the stakes, with Rick arguing it negates physical consequences, while Jack and CJ emphasize the psychological toll.Next Week's Pick: "Kaiju No. 8"Have you had the chance to watch Magical Girl Spec Ops Asuka or any of our previous selections? We had a blast this week diving into the comedic anime Let This Grieving Soul Retire! It was a wild and interesting adventure filled with humor and action. While we highlighted many of the anime's positive aspects, we couldn't ignore the areas that held it back just a bit. The storytelling and comedy were decent, but we felt the character development could've been stronger. Still, it's absolutely worth at least one watch—if you're in the mood for something lighthearted, you'll have a great time with it! It was a Jack solo episode this week, and let's just say… it wasn't his favorite. The pick was inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but it veered into parody territory, tweaking the original tale to fit the writer's vision. For Jack, though, it just didn't hit the mark. The story felt bland—like it was thrown together without a strong, cohesive narrative. Definitely one he wouldn't revisit. This week, we're exploring a dark comedy with a unique take on the classic Truck-kun trope. Instead of transporting someone unwillingly, it brings over someone wishing to leave their current life. Our main character actively seeks death in this new world but ends up surviving against all odds at every turn. This twist on the usual formula offers a fresh perspective, but it's important to note that the show deals heavily with themes of suicide, making it a thoughtful yet challenging watch. This week, we explored Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters—a blend of nostalgia and fresh storytelling. While it honors the franchise's legacy, this movie introduces a bold new narrative. The premise is gripping: humanity flees Earth after Godzilla's dominance, spending 20 years wandering in space. Forced to return due to dwindling resources, they find Earth changed in ways they could never have imagined. This is where the action truly begins. In this episode, we dive into the anime Immoral Guild—an ecchi-heavy series that isn't afraid to push boundaries. The show skates close to the line between fan service and something far more risqué, with scenes that might feel more "adults-only" than usual. Yet, underneath all of that, it's a pretty straightforward story without much in the way of plot progression. For fans of mature anime, Immoral Guild might be entertaining, but it's definitely not for everyone. One thing the show does get right is its clarity: it answers all the questions it raises, wrapping things up with a satisfying ending and mixing in humor that actually feels pretty natural. But, overall, this is one we'd only recommend to viewers who know what they're getting into. Next Week's Pick: Godzilla: Planet of Monsters Prepare yourself for some monstrous action! Next week, we're switching gears with Godzilla: Planet of Monsters. This one's big on the kaiju-scale impact and brings a unique anime twist to the Godzilla saga. We dive into a true classic, based on a film from the 1950s. It was genuinely entertaining, with solid storytelling and decent music. The character development was seamlessly woven into the plot, enhancing the experience by integrating backstories naturally without pulling you out of the story. This week we get transported to another world only before we actually get there we get lost in the weeds with random details but after a few minutes we get back on track and then finally get to our destination. And it was an interesting one at that. It takes the normal genre and give the protagonist a set of skills that they had in their previous life but even with that, it ultimately still follows the same tropes for the anime and they also leave out a lot of detail, but even with that it was an entertaining watch. This week, we explore another mesmerizing Ghibli movie! It's a must-watch, filled with the magical elements we've come to love from Ghibli. However, it does carry a heavier tone in some spots. And if Spirited Away wasn't your cup of tea, this one might not be either, as it shares a similar vibe—but if you like it then you may just like this one was well and it is also perfect for introducing anime newcomers to this fascinating genre. This Week's Anime: "Love Tyrant" This week's episode comes from a recommendation by Goose in our Discord community. "Love Tyrant" (Renai Bōkun) was an interesting choice, to say the least. This anime pokes fun at other anime tropes, and while it follows the standard harem style, it's packed with comedy, making it an easy and enjoyable watch. If you're looking for something light and funny without a deep storyline, this is a perfect pick for a quick break from your usual anime lineup. Season 2 picks up the story, shining the spotlight on Yor with some impressive character growth. While the plot takes a slight detour from the main narrative, it doesn't stray completely. This week's highlight is Angel's anime recommendation, and it's a fantastic one. The anime impresses with its strong world-building and character arcs. This week's cinematic journey took us back in time with the film Inu-Oh, a gem suggested by CJ from Anime Anonymous. Both of us found it to be a fantastic watch. The movie offered a fresh perspective on historical storytelling, complete with unique theatrical elements not found in the past. And added an element of rock and roll to it was well which was fun in it's own way. Although the plot left a little to be desired, the overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable. This week we talk about Tokyo Revengers season 1 and the story had some solid points to it, but it also had some draw backs, but it also had an interesting viewpoint on time travel as well as what is affected by it and in what way. This week was a solid choice, and it was one that certainly took you out of the norm for healing magic and gives it a fresh new look in a positive way. While the main character is not meant to be the hero of the story Usato is certainly the hero for a majority of people. The story as a whole is solid with great character development and comedic dialog to help break those serious scenes up. This one is well worth the watch, and we would recommend it to anyone. We take a moment this week with a change of pace and watch something a little more mellow. It was an enjoyable one that Rick had no issues with watching in public. Overall the story main characters were well rounded and written in a way that made them enjoyable. Fel was an enjoyable comedic relief that was not done in the usual way making it all the better. This one is for sure is one that is well worth a watch. The selection for next week is "The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic" . Have you had the chance to watch it or any of the previous choices? We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions, or even suggestions for future movie picks!https://forms.gle/EHjG9Z26weDxhSUVA Looking for some anime merch then use our affiliate link and get 15% off your first order with CrunchyRoll.https://crunchyrollstore.sjv.io/c/4860045/1978838/20100 Use code "FEATUREDANIME" for $5 off your first #TokyoTreat box through my link: https://team.tokyotreat.com/featuredanime Watch anytime, anywhere! Story time this week was all about some ghosts. More specifically it was about an anime called Ghost Stories. Specifically the dub version. It is something considered to be a dark comedy where they make fun of and offend every group and demographic. This is not a show for those who get easily offended and it can be fun to watch for some. With outlandish dialog through the series this is certainly one that makes it an interesting watch. The selection for next week is "Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill" . Have you had the chance to watch it or any of the previous choices? We continue our journey into the Horizon. Sadly, though for us it is just a repeat of what happened last time. The story was a repeat of what it was before and just more drawn out. Though it may be that way by design it may not be something that is for everyone. In general, we thought that if we watched it with a longer time in-between the 2 seasons that we would have viewed it better but also at the same time with how season 1 ended you needed to watch it back-to-back. The selection for next week is "Ghost Stories" . Have you had the chance to watch it or any of the previous choices?
