Hasbro recently cancelled a Dungeons and Dragons action game being developed by Giant Skull, the studio led by former Star Wars Jedi director Stig Asmussen, though Giant Skull is currently looking for a new publishing deal. Meanwhile, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has announced that more D&D crossover products are in the works, drawing inspiration from the success of Magic: The Gathering, and he described the upcoming space opera RPG Exodus as “D&D in space”. Separately, the United Wizards of the Coast union reported that WotC and Hasbro have hired a union avoidance firm and are conducting a daily anti-union campaign via email. Wizards of the Coast launched “Drops,” a new weekly and monthly feature providing content like maps, spells, and feats exclusively for D&D Beyond Hero and Master tier subscribers. While intended as a value-add, Drops content cannot be shared among campaign members using the Master tier subscription—the traditional core benefit of the service—and access is lost if a subscription is cancelled. D&D Beyond executives claim this restriction is a necessary tradeoff to ensure designers are paid, but this shift effectively encourages every player in a group to purchase a minimum Hero Tier subscription to access all player-facing material. Worlds Beyond Brawl is a campaign showcasing the One Page Rules Compatibility Program by offering over 500 3D printable models across 53 skirmish warbands from 18 miniature companies. All models are fully compatible with One Page Rules’ free games, Grimdark Future: Firefight and Age of Fantasy Skirmish, with custom stats provided on the Army Forge web app. The models are professionally supported and test-printed, available for personal use only, and are delivered to a user’s MyMiniFactory library upon pledging. Modiphius is running its “Press Start to Play” spring sale for the next 40 days, offering savings of up to 50% on a massive list of RPGs, board games, and accessories. The sale includes major titles such as Fallout: The Roleplaying Game, Star Trek Adventures 2E, and Dune: Adventures in the Imperium, as well as a large collection of Fallout miniatures. Recommended RPG highlights include Homeworld: Revelations, Infinity, and the pulp WWII title Achtung! Cthulhu. Dungeon Scrawl launched a free, instant, and browser-based map generator for TTRPGs that requires no installation or account. This easy-to-use mapmaking app is presented as a solution for Game Masters who need maps quickly during a session or a starting point for a new project. The feature uses procedural generation (not AI) to instantly create fully explorable, gridded dungeon maps. Users can customize the results by adjusting input criteria such as overall map size, layout style, room count, room size and shape, and corridor length and width.Every map generated is fully editable. Finished maps can be exported for use on any Virtual Tabletop (VTT), or they can be printed or broadcast to a TV/monitor using the “Send to Tabletop” tool for in-person games. The Random Dungeons feature is currently available in beta. Free RPG Day 2026 will take place on June 27th, featuring 30 unique tabletop RPG publishers and accessory makers who will provide free modules, quick start guides, and accessories to participating Friendly Local Game Stores. They announced their formation under Communications Workers of America on Monday, April 27 and notified Wizards of the Coast and parent company Hasbro of their intent in a public letter.The new union asks to be recognized in their letter, which is strange because WOTC is based out of Renton Washington and the State of Washington requires them to recognize the new union. It also requires them to engage in collective bargaining. Wizards of the Coast (WotC) is signaling a massive strategic shift toward outsourcing the development of official *Dungeons & Dragons* content to third-party publishers, as evidenced by a recent job post for a “TRPG Publishing Lead”. This role is explicitly tasked with overseeing “externally developed D&D content, including adventures, campaign materials, guides, and artwork”. This change follows internal team restructuring, the adoption of a holistic D&D franchise model, and WotC’s recent decision to actively feature third-party products on D&D Beyond. Although WotC has previously worked with third-party designers for early D&D 5E supplements like “Hoard of the Dragon Queen” and “Princes of the Apocalypse” The practice was largely abandoned in 2016, making this an important new chapter in the company’s relationship with outside publishers. Paizo's Pathfinder launched a new subscription service called Paizo Printables on April 2, offering 3D printable miniature files and accompanying TTRPG content. The service provides two monthly subscription tiers—$4.99 and $9.99—with the higher tier including a welcome pack of 25 minis, a monthly themed pack, and digital rulebooks. Associate publisher Thurston Hillman stated that the primary goal is accessibility, bypassing the delays of physical production, and the new format offers Paizo the freedom to create niche, setting-specific miniatures. Ultimately, Paizo aims to use the platform to introduce exclusive rules content and new ancestries to the game in the future. A new physical and digital bundle is available for the Dune – Adventures in the Imperium RPG by Modiphius, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The physical bundle includes the *Agents of Dune Deluxe Starter Set*, the Atreides collector's edition of the *Dune: Core Rulebook*, and an Arrakis-themed dice set. Most of the titles offered in the physical bundle seem to be sold out as of this post. The Kickstarter campaign for LOWLIFE: A DUNGEON DEGENERATES ROLE PLAYING GAME, by Sean Äaberg and Goblinko, is currently live and heading toward its funding goal. The project is a major expansion of the Dungeon Degenerates: Hand of Doom board game world, creating a full TTRPG described as “Grand Theft Auto meets Game of Thrones” and focused on “low drama” stories of survival in the dark fantasy continent of Bödengärd. The game utilizes a customized Old School Renaissance (OSR) engine with a d20 roll-low mechanic and features simultaneous, deadly combat. Key mechanics include tracking “Meat & Morale” as a combined resource—where the spirit often breaks before the body—and using “Heat” to track the players’ wanted level with local authorities. Author Scott Pearson joins us for a yarn about writing, Star Trek, the most common mistakes authors make, and a whole lot more.   Scott is a full-time freelance writer and editor working across a variety of genres in both traditional and indie publishing. His published works include short stories, novellas, essays, poetry, and role-playing game supplements. He is the co-screenwriter of the IMAX space documentaries Space Next and Touch the Stars. He was the copyeditor for Simon & Schuster's Star Trek novels for ten years prior to becoming the line's developmental editor in early 2025. The rebranding of Games Workshop’s paint line is happening. Citadel Colour is being phased out and renamed Warhammer Colour. This change is purely for brand alignment, particularly to aid newcomers, as the paint formulas—including Base, Layers, Shades, Technical, and Contrast paints—and pot sizes will remain exactly the same, only with updated branding appearing in stores over the coming months. Wolfenstein TTRPG (Tabletop Roleplaying Game) is coming from Modiphius. The game will adapt the popular video game IP, specifically focusing on the storylines from Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus. Modiphius, which has a pre-existing relationship with Bethesda for Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, will utilize its 2d20 system for the RPG. The crowdfunding campaign for the game is set to launch on GameFound in Fall 2026, with a sign-up page available for interested parties to follow. HATE is based on the Chronicles of Hate, a dark fantasy graphic novel series by artist Adrian Smith, known for its intense and visceral artwork. The miniatures being promoted originate from the iconic HATE Board Game, which is centered on brutal combat and conquest. The files are being produced by TitanForge and will be available as STL files. LowLife is the long-awaited TTRPG based on the DUNGEON DEGENERATES board game, designed to allow players to delve deeper into the degeneracy and world of Würstreich than the board game permits. Sean Aaberg, the creator, describes it as a “chaotic narrative experience” and an “RPG for people who hate the ‘noble hero’ tropes.” The creator aims to make LowLife their most successful Kickstarter yet, encouraging readers to share the sign-up page and promote the project, which has been in development for decades. Free League is bringing back the iconic world of Trudvang as a standalone tabletop roleplaying game, *Dragonbane: Trudvang*, which is fully compatible with their current, award-winning edition of *Dragonbane*. The setting, rooted in Nordic mythology, features shadowed woods, dreadful beasts, and endless mystery. The core rulebook will adapt and expand the *Dragonbane* ruleset for the *Trudvang* setting, including new kin, professions, heroic abilities, and unique magic for vitner weavers and dimwalkers. The Kickstarter campaign offers four hardback volumes in Swedish and English, with early access Beta PDFs a few months after the campaign concludes. Modiphius and Humble Bundle have released a massive Fallout Tabletop Mega Bundle, which includes content for both the *Fallout Tabletop RPG* and the *Fallout: Wasteland Warfare* miniatures skirmish game. The bundle offers over $1k worth of items for $25, with a significant draw being the STL files for miniatures, allowing 3D printing enthusiasts to create various terrain pieces, iconic Bobbleheads, cars, and other items from the Wasteland. Even without a 3D printer, the bundle provides a robust selection of PDF rulebooks, including the RPG Core Rulebook, Settler’s and Wanderer’s Guides, NPC packs, the *Winter of Atom* campaign, and *Wasteland Warfare* expansions like *Liberty Prime*. A portion of the proceeds from the bundle, which has already raised over $14k, supports the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). MyMiniFactory announced its acquisition of Thingiverse, the world’s oldest and largest 3D printing community, adding it to its family alongside YouMagine. MyMiniFactory’s decade-long focus has been on building a sustainable platform for creators, having paid out over $100 million to designers. The acquisition aims to support the underserved Thingiverse community by providing creators with the necessary tools, support, and business models. As part of MyMiniFactory’s 2025 “SoulCrafted initiative” to protect human creativity from AI-generated content, Thingiverse will now adopt a zero-tolerance stance on AI-generated designs. The platforms will remain independent, and the open sharing culture, including existing free models, will be preserved. Mantic Games has announced they will be publishing a new *Ghost in the Shell* Tabletop Roleplaying Game in 2026. This new RPG is based solely on the original manga by Shirow Masamune. It features a bespoke design by Alessio Cavatore and Zak Barouh, combining fast-paced, narrative-driven mechanics with the philosophical depth of the source material. The game is set in a near-future world of cybernetics and political intrigue, where players design their own trainee agents in Section 9 and features rules for combat and hacking, a rich armoury of gear, and the first mission, *Lost Patriot*. Corvus Belli, the Spanish miniature wargame publisher, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the industry. Founded in 2001 by three friends, the company began with 15mm scale historical miniatures before launching the 28mm scale ‘Warcrow’ fantasy models in 2002. Their breakthrough came with the 2005 release of the sci-fi skirmish wargame Infinity, which evolved from a modified Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Infinity is notable for its unique rules, including an “active” and “reactive” turn system that keeps both players engaged, a flexible order system, and the use of D20s instead of D6s. The game has since grown through several editions, expansions, and community support like the official Infinity Army web application. Corvus Belli also launched the Infinity Tournament System in 2010 to support competitive play and has continuously pushed the metaplot forward, including the recent Endsong expansion and the new Next Wave faction released in 2025.
