Die französische Stiftung Palazetto Bru Zane betreibt Quellenforschung und Edition mit anschließenden Aufführungen und Aufnahmen vieler nicht mehr oder nur noch wenig bekannter Kompositionen. Aber auch wohlbekannte Zugpferde des Repertoires nimmt "Bru Zane" ins Visier, um ihnen einen neuen oder frischen Anstrich zu geben. Jüngstes Projekt ist Bizets "Carmen". Auf einer neuen DVD (+Blu-ray) ist die beliebte Oper in einer Rekonstruktion der Uraufführung im Jahr 1875 zu sehen.

I kvällens extralånga program har vi spanat in två Netflix-aktuella filmer och tar oss dessutom tillbaka till året 1991. Iris tänker ta sitt liv. Hennes son dog i en fallolycka. Nu står hon i begrepp att hoppa från samma berg som hennes son ramlade ner ifrån. Men hon blir övertalad av en till synes vänlig man som heter Richard att låta bli. MEN, han har andra planer för henne. Hon kommer få det riktigt kämpigt att röra sig í filmen DON'T MOVE. Filmen finns på Netflix. Vi fortsätter på Netflix och träffar en familj i kris. I filmen SLÄPP TAGET, så vill Gustav skilja sig från Stella. De har slutat prata med varandra och han känner sig osynlig. Stella vägrar och menar på att familjen måste enas för en sista utflykt innan skillsmässan är ett faktum. Josefin Bornebush har skickligt  skrivit manus, regisserat filmen som hon dessutom spelar huvudrollen i. Filmen har blivit en snackis så vi var tvugna att se den. Tomas har också nu sett den Dvd/Blu-ray och streamingaktuella Marvel-rullen DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE. Hör hans tankar om den i avsnittet. Och NU är det äntligen dags att färdas tillbaka i tiden och till filmåret 1991 där vi spanar på gräddan av moset på urvalet av filmer som kom ut då. He is coeditor of three previous books for PM Press, Girl Gangs, Biker Boys, and Real Cool Cats: Pulp Fiction and Youth Culture, 1950 to 1980; Sticking It to the Man: Revolution and Counterculture in Pulp and Popular Fiction, 1950 to 1980; and Dangerous Visions and New Worlds: Radical Science Fiction, 1950 to 1985. His writing on film, books, and culture has appeared in a variety of print and online publications. He has also contributed video and print essays and commentaries to a number of DVD/Blu-ray releases. He writes a regular newsletter under his name on Substack. Previously ridiculed, Kamala Harris's signature laughter has emerged as an electrifying rallying cry for her last-minute candidacy for President of the United States. “Harris' laughter has become a national symbol of collective healing,” Hennefeld argues, “affirming the powers of contagious joy to unite community across the bitter divisions of culture and identity. … [L]aughter is a lifeline for resistance against the global onslaught of authoritarian hate and fearmongering.” Analyzing the carnivalesque slogans and memes surrounding the Harris campaign, our conversation draws surprising parallels between feminist laughter in fin-de-siècle cinema and in contemporary online cultures. Maggie Hennefeld is a feminist scholar of silent cinema and professor in the Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature Department at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Send us a Text Message.Rob Marby and I discuss filmmaking and his bucket list project, The Legend of El Chupacabra.*****Rob Mabry was born on November 22, 1966, in San Antonio, Texas.  He spent the better part of his youth in Bavaria (Germany), where his parents both worked for the US government.  He developed a love of movies at an early age through countless hours spent at Sunday matinees on the tiny Air Force base in Bad Aibling, Germany where he lived.  His father owned an 8mm movie camera and often enlisted his son in home movie projects.  The spark was lit.  Mabry spent his formative years indulging his passion for storytelling.  He developed his own comic books, wrote plays for his friend's to perform and when his dad was feeling generous; he borrowed the 8mm movie camera and experimented making movies.In the eighties, Mabry enlisted in the US Army and joined a public affairs unit as a military journalist.  While highly regarded as a writer, he found the life of a soldier to be rigid and ill-suited to his non-conformist attitude.  Eventually, he and the Army would part ways.  In his twenties, Mabry pursued a career as a screenwriter.  He wrote a number of spec scripts that garnered limited attention.  Living in Atlanta and outside the Hollywood system, prospects were dim and he resolved to focus on a career that would support his family. In 2017, Mabry signed up for the 48-Hour Film Project in San Antonio, a film race to write, shoot, edit and deliver a 4-7 minute short film in just two days.  He would go on to compete in a dozen more “48s” and complete over twenty short films ranging in length from three to thirty minutes, but the job wasn't finished.Although his short films were recognized in multiple film festivals, earning laurels and awards along the way, the dream of making a feature-length film still burned.  Emerging from the fog of COVID, Mabry resolved to make the dream a reality and spent the next six months developing the script for his first feature film, “The Legend of El Chupacabra.”   (The Movie is now available on Tubi.)The horror-comedy was financed through crowdfunding, personal funds and support from friends and family.  Filming was done mostly on the weekends in the fall of 2022 and a heavy load of post-production work and visual effects took up most of 2023.  The film had its local premiere in October of 2023 and debuted on DVD/Blu-ray on May 10, 2024.  The Legend of El Chupacabra will hit streaming platforms in the Summer of 2024.  Mabry believes that there is a lesson in his journey to become a feature film writer/director.  He frequently shares his adage that “It is never too late to make your first movie.  It is never too late to live out your dream.” Website: https://www.chupacabramovie.com/*****If you would like to contact the show about being a guest please email us at Dauna@bettertopodcast.comThis episode is on YouTube: https://youtu.be/-gCtLb85ceMFollow us on Social MediaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/author_d.m.needom/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bettertopodcastwithdmneedomHave a question or want to be a guest on the podcast email: dauna@bettertopodcast.comHave a question for our producer Rich Zei contact him at rich.zei@thirdearaudio.comIntro and Outro music compliments of Fast SuziTo see upcoming guests click here: https://www.dmneedom.com/better-topodcastSupport the Show.

Simply put, artificial intelligence is when a computer program, designed by humans, collect vast amounts of data on a given subject, then sort through and learn trends from that data far faster than any human mind, and then make recommendations or even take action based on analysis of the data.You likely are already using AI even if you don't know it. For example, AI programs are tracking the websites you visit, the products you research, the content you search for online. Once the AI program collects this date about you and compares it with the patterns of others, product ads or content recommendations start appearing on the Internet pages you visit because AI has concluded that you want or need something and so it takes action to meet that want or need. This is why when you do a search for new car tires, all of a sudden ads for tires start appearing on every website you visit.If you were to get cancer, AI can analyze everyone in the world who has the same cancer, narrow the field to those of similar biological makeup, and then recommend treatments that were successful in others similar to you. No doctor could process all the health data on millions of people and offer such a data-based recommendation.AI is powerful because of its ability to collect, process, and learn from vast amounts of data and then provide recommendations or solutions it deems best.But “best” according to whom? What happens when government or the CIA uses AI to identify those who oppose the people and policies of those in power and then takes away your ability to buy, sell, speak, or travel? What happens when the military uses AI to conduct war, allowing computer programs to make decisions? These and countless other scenarios have the potential for leading the world right into authoritarian rule…right where Scripture states it will under the Antichrist.And finally, AI is already impacting the church. Yukimi and Clara had a wonderful conversation with Dr. Yui a week ago, and what a great way to start our New Year! During the interview, she shared many fun anecdotes from her concert tours, advice/wisdom from her extensive teaching career, her current project on Asian composers, her vision for the classical music industry, and more!Ms. Yui is a multifaceted artist -- concert pianist, lecturer, teacher, author, and musical director. She has performed throughout North America, Europe, and Asia as a recitalist in venues such as Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and the Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum in Budapest, among other major concert venues around the world. Her CD album of the music of Carl Maria von Weber and Jan Ladislav Dussek was awarded the highest rating by the French music magazine, Pianiste.
