The episode starts with Pastor Chip Judd detailing the story of how he received his new lungs after a tragedy took the life of a man whose lungs Pastor Chip now has. Then, host Joey Svendsen talks with Josh and Lisa Surratt about how goodness can come from bad things, as well as theological intricacies of an all powerful and loving God, and the existence of evil and future redemption. Afterward, they share their hearts for a unified church and discuss that despite how one votes or how people see the world, God's Kingdom comes first and unity on the Gospel of Jesus can always be found. The topics of predestination and free will have been debated for centuries. On this week's episode, we'll hear from individuals with varying opinions on these complex topics. Bible scholar, writer, and podcaster, Chris Date believes in the theology of Calvinism (term often used synonymously for predestination) and sees one's salvation as something that God predetermined and that only individuals whom God chose will live with him for eternity. Chris and Joey Svendsen are joined by Pastor Chip Judd to discuss this belief. Chris and Chip also share sharp opinions on whether a person's actions or choices are authored by God and if he controls the outcome. At top of the episode, Tomelex Copeland, Roy Jacques, Lynne Stroy and Joey have their own discussion on predestination and they revisit a conversation from an earlier episode and assess whether it's possible for a person to remain quiet in a stressful, high pressure situation.Stay ConnectedWebsite | Facebook Discussion Page In this episodeChris Date / Facebook / Website Chip Judd / Instagram / PodcastRoy Jacques, host / FacebookTomelex Copeland, host / FacebookLynne Stroy, host / InstagramJoey Svendsen, host / InstagramExecutive Producer: Josh SurrattProducer/Editor: Joey SvendsenSound Engineer/Editor: JT PriceSound Engineer: Katelyn VandiverMusic, including theme song: Joel T. In many evangelical circles, the practice of avoiding "alone time" with a member of the opposite sex can be common. The idea is to avoid the temptation to connect emotionally, or physically with another person outside of one's own marriage. Evangelist, Billy Graham and his team lived by a set of rules to uphold integrity, and this one, nicknamed, “The Billy Graham Rule” is the topic of our discussion. One of our guests, Pastor Chip Judd, has counseled countless married couples through affairs and divorces. He believes that the intimacy (not necessarily physical) found in one-on-one encounters opens the door to trouble and is not worth the risk. But, Bea Wray and Charlotte Cox, both part of the Seacoast family, claim to be negatively impacted by this “rule." They argue that it puts males and females on unequal professional ground, with a disparity in males having more opportunities, especially in church ministry, where most pastors are men. They also believe that this rule doesn't get to the root of the issue and could even exasperate the problem it's setting out to solve.Stay ConnectedWebsite | Facebook Discussion Page I YouTubeOn this EpisodeBea Wray / Instagram / Book / WebsiteChip Judd / Instagram / WebsiteCharlotte Cox / Instagram Joey Svendsen, host / InstagramExecutive Producer: Josh SurrattProducer/Editor: Joey SvendsenSound Engineer/Editor: JT PriceSound Engineer: Katelyn VandiverMusic, including theme song: Joel T. So is there sexual activity in heaven? We hear from lots of contributors on this one. In the beginning all things were good. Food, work, companionship, all of creation, perfect connection with God, perfect beauty and I presume, perfect sex. Things got screwed up along the way, ruining everything; and most Christians believe Jesus will redeem “all things," enjoying them forever in a new, perfect world. Everything redeemed. Except sex. Hmmm. The only thing "off the table" is sex? That’s odd, right? It’s at least worth a discussion. Regulars Ellen Mauro and Pastor Chip Judd, a couple of priests (Fr. Wesley Walker and Fr. Chris Foley), Craig Gross, Preston Sprinkle, and more. Even Joey’s wife, Pricilla, doesn’t get off the hook on this one. Or should we say, since Joey had to talk about his proposal of sex in heaven with multiple partners to Pricilla, JOEY doesn't get off the hook. Pastor Chip Judd comes on the show to talk about this concept a lot of ministry workers call “burn out.” Some pastors even blame their affairs on it. Is it a thing? I make no apologies for this episode being a “help episode,” potentially paving a way to better mental health. Concepts such as “self care isn’t selfish,” “thought awareness training,” and “stress being a habit” are discussed and there is an opportunity to take on and learn more about these practices at a deeper level by going to: www.Juddboundaries.com
