[This episode originally aired on August 20th of 2024][Watch this on YouTube]Seacoast Church was started in 1988 by Pastor Greg and Debbie Surratt who moved from Illinois to Charleston, SC in 1987 with their four kids, Jason, Josh, Jessica, and Jenny. Early on, their family endured life-threatening hardship—two of the kids surviving a massive car wreck and their oldest daughter, Jessica, surviving an extremely close-call in a jet ski accident. On this episode, Pastor Greg, Pastor Josh Surratt, and Jenny Mayer (the youngest of the bunch) sit down with host, Joey Svendsen to discuss those dark times, including the narratives of those dreadful accidents. They reflect on God's goodness shown through church community and ponder these early seasons in the context of spiritual warfare and God's sustenance. The three also treat the listenership to some fun stories with hilarious insight on the Surratt family, back in the old days when our Lead Pastor, Josh Surratt, still got spankings. On this EpisodeJenny Mayer / Instagram Greg Surratt / Instagram Josh Surratt / Instagram Joey Svendsen, host / InstagramSeacoast Podcast is now on InstagramBe a Patron of the podcast We have a YouTube Channel for videos of all episodes since Jan. 2024. As a young mom, I felt the tension of wanting to have it all together: the boys in matching outfits, the house spotless, and dinner on the table. But no matter how hard I tried, it always felt just out of reach. Today, Ashleigh Surratt joins me to talk about what it means to be a Type C mom — a blend of Type A and Type B — and how this mix shapes the way we experience motherhood. She is a mom and faith-filled encourager who speaks honestly about motherhood, identity, and finding God's grace in the messiest seasons of life. Her perspective helps moms release perfectionism and embrace the freedom found in authenticity. We talk about: How to stop comparing yourself and embrace what truly matters to you How “ideal mom” expectations can become an idol Why authenticity and vulnerability invite connection rather than shame Create simple “catch-all” systems to manage chaos in your home When you feel drained, pause and invite God into the overwhelm Connect with Ashleigh Surratt: Instagram: Ashleigh Surratt (@ashleigh.surratt) Facebook: Ashleigh Surratt Links Mentioned: The Lazy Genius The Ashleigh Surratt Show - Podcast - Apple Podcasts Podcast with her husband Related Episodes: Manage Your Time Like a Lazy Genius :: Kendra Adachi [Ep 492] The Lazy Genius Kitchen :: Kendra Adachi [Ep 365] Choose What Matters to YOU :: Kendra Adachi [Ep 293] Featured Sponsors: Honeylove: Treat yourself or someone special to the most comfortable and innovative bras on earth this holiday season. On April 14, 1865, America's triumph in the Civil War turned to tragedy when President Abraham Lincoln was shot in the head by actor John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theatre. But this was no random act by a lone madman — it was part of a sweeping conspiracy to overthrow the federal government in one night of terror. In this gripping episode, we uncover the untold story of how Booth's plot evolved from a desperate scheme to kidnap Lincoln into a coordinated plan to kill the President, Vice President, and Secretary of State simultaneously.Sean, Eric and Jorge explore how John Wilkes Booth, a charismatic and bitter Confederate sympathizer, gathered a band of conspirators who were fiercely loyal to him personally and driven by rage at the Union's victory. You'll meet Lewis Powell, the brutal ex-soldier assigned to assassinate Secretary of State Seward; George Atzerodt, the nervous boatman who was supposed to kill Vice President Johnson but lost his nerve; and Mary Surratt, the boardinghouse owner whose tavern hid Booth's weapons. walk through the conspirators' failed kidnapping plans, their meetings at Surratt's boardinghouse, and the moment Lincoln's speech on Black suffrage convinced Booth that murder was the only option. On the night of April 14, Booth executed his plan with chilling precision: he slipped into Lincoln's box during Our American Cousin and fired a single shot that would forever change the nation. Meanwhile, Powell's savage attack on Seward nearly succeeded, and Atzerodt's cowardice spared Johnson's life. In the chaos that followed, Booth leapt to the stage, shouting “Sic semper tyrannis!” as he fled into the night.Join us as we unravel the dark conspiracy that sought to decapitate America's leadership at its most vulnerable moment, and discover how Booth's twisted vision of heroism ended with the first presidential assassination in U.S. history — and the beginning of a manhunt that would grip the nation.www.patreon.com/theconspiracypodcast
