The whole crew from is all together in person for an expansive deep dive into the cultural touchstones that shaped a generation. In this episode, we move beyond surface-level takes to dissect the complex legacy of Eddie Murphy's iconic 1982–1992 film run, specifically examining Arsenio Hall's crucial role in sustaining Murphy's momentum during that era. We also turn up the heat on our recurring music debates. We face the tough questions: Does Ludacris have a true "classic" album, and how do the legendary discographies of Toni Braxton and Donell Jones stack up against one another? We also pay respects to the 30-year legacy of UGK's Ridin Dirty, analyzing how Bun B and Pimp C fundamentally shifted the trajectory of Southern hip-hop. Beyond the music, we tackle the heavy hitters of pop culture—from the mysterious "Oscar Curse" that haunts award-winning actors to the ongoing discourse surrounding the need for a unified Juneteenth anthem. Plus, we discuss the A Different World reboot and the evolving struggle between maintaining celebrity privacy in the age of social media. 0:00 I Only Listen to 90s Music Intro 0:09 Cultural Significance and Costs of Prom Celebrations 3:44 Nostalgic Reflections on Music and Memories from the 2000s 7:12 Eddie Murphy's Career and Arsenio Hall's Role in Saving Coming to America 19:18 Rest in Peace to Peabo Bryson and his many slept on hits 25:14 Whtiney Houston and The Making of Heartbreak Hotel 29:08 TLC, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Nostalgia, and Impact of 90s Hip-Hop and R&B Soundtracks 33:47 Is Ludcaris really slept on as a rapper? 39:16 LA Reid says the best Laface album is Donell Jones. Who controls what happens between women's legs after menopause? It's a confronting question, but one that sits at the heart of this episode. In this short, powerful conversation, I am joined by menopause specialist and sexologist Dr Angela Wright to explore why so many women — particularly those who have had cancer — are still being denied access to vaginal and vulval oestrogen treatments. And why we're not routinely having the conversation about sexual health after cancer treatment.Despite being widely recognised as one of the most effective and low-risk treatments for genitourinary symptoms of menopause (GSM), access remains incredibly low. Many women are left navigating pain, dryness, recurrent infections, loss of sexual function, and a deep impact on identity and relationships — often without being offered treatment. Or they're told ‘no'.This episode explores:Why are women not allowed to make an informed choice about their intimate health? The realities of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) — and why it's more than “just dryness”The added complexity for women on treatments like aromatase inhibitors (e.g. Letrozole)The emotional and relational impact of untreated symptomsHow history, culture, and medical caution continue to shape women's access to careThe growing body of guidance suggesting low-dose vaginal hormones may be appropriate for many women, including after breast cancerThe balance between clinical responsibility and patient autonomyThis is not a black-and-white conversation. It's not about right or wrong. It's an invitation — to think, to question, and to open up more honest, informed conversations between patients and healthcare professionals.Because at its core, is it about choice?Links mentioned in this episode:You can find Dr Wright here: https://spicedpearhealth.co.uk/about/Sweetness of Venus: A history of the clitoris book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sweetness-Venus-History-Clitoris/dp/B08W3NZ1H9Women's Health Made Easy Book: for Healthcare Professionals, click hereMore information about vaginal oestrogen after breast cancer: https://menopauseandcancer.org/navigating-vaginal-oestrogen-after-breast-cancer-what-every-woman-needs-to-know/Episode Highlights:00:00 Intro05:36 Doctor's journey and women's health08:17 Challenges of Menopause Treatment10:32 Debating hormone prescription guidelines14:25 Discussing medical trauma and autonomy18:19 Discussing bodily agency and benefits21:18 Reclaiming life after trauma24:31 Understanding compliance with endocrine therapies26:42 Valuing women's opinions in healthcare29:48 Discussing erectile dysfunction post-cancer34:39 Opening conversations on sexual healthConnect with us:For more information and resources visit our website: www.menopauseandcancer.org Or follow us on Instagram @menopause_and_cancerJoin our Facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/menopauseandcancerchathub
Cameron Hörst recently completed the hardest route of his climbing career: Big Bone (5.15a/9a+), a king line out Utah's massive Fynn Cave. What makes his first ascent especially compelling isn't just the grade—it's the journey. Big Bone was a project that demanded years of training, 60+ working goes and redpoint attempts, countless setbacks, and a level of patience few climbers ever develop. In this episode of the Training for Climbing Podcast, Cameron unpacks the entire process. We dive into the physical, mental, and tactical challenges of working a multi-year project, the breakthroughs that finally moved the needle, and the lessons any climber can apply to their own long-term goals—whether you're projecting 5.10 or 5.15. One of the most fascinating takeaways is that the breakthrough wasn't a sudden gain in finger strength or power. Instead, it came from years of accumulated training adaptations, comprehensive energy system development, improved recovery, refined tactics, and learning when not to climb. Cameron shares how he finally broke through a plateau that had stalled his progress for multiple seasons. In 2010, two landmark decisions transformed American campaign finance law. The first was Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. The second was SpeechNow.org v. FEC. Together, these cases cleared the way for corporations and so-called Super PACs to raise and spend unlimited sums of money in elections. What followed was a new era in American politics where individuals, corporations, and industries increasingly spent more and more money to influence campaigns and public opinion. To debate the constitutional, political, and historical questions surrounding money in politics, we are joined by Larry Lessig and Paul Sherman. Lessig is a Harvard Law professor and the founder of Equal Citizens, one of the country's leading advocates for campaign finance reform. Sherman is a senior attorney at the Institute for Justice who served as co-counsel in SpeechNow.org. Read Larry's paper "If Roe, then Buckley" here.
