Let's talk about the elephant in the room, and the 5 questions you MUST ask your next lover. Leonarda Minutillo is a poet, writer, teacher, mom, and speaker (even in ASL). She studied at York University in Toronto with an Honours BA with Physical Education /Psychology; B.Ed at University of Toronto; Deaf Ed at York University; and then, with an International Rotary Scholarship attended Gallaudet University in WDC, the only university in the world tailored to Deaf students. It was a dream come true. Leonarda is now making a big career shift slowly leaving the classroom and stepping into the role of writer and poet where she has not only found great healing but also a long-awaited connection to her intuition. After publishing her first poetry book, "The Day I Bought a Teddy Bear and a Vibrator", Leonarda says the whole process has been incredibly transformational. In episode 608 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out what inspired Leonarda to start writing poetry and how that helped to reclaim her voice, how learning to listen to her intuition changed the trajectory of her life, how college students can channel creativity to heal from heartbreak or self-doubt, how she defines self-love in a world where people often seek validation from others, what are the 5 conscious questions to ask a potential lover so you can take care of yourself, what is the P.I.E. Principle, how studying at Gallaudet University shaped her perspective on communication and connection, how young people learn to see endings as beginnings, what role does community play in healing and self-discovery, how transitioning from teaching to writing and speaking full time taught her courage, and what advice she would give her younger self. Enjoy!
It's Friday morning which means Joe Ostrowski and Sam Panayotovich are discussing their Friday Feels, hitting on the one major elephant in the room.
We explore how avoidance, disguised as politeness, slowly erodes trust — and how courageous conversations can actually strengthen relationships and performance. Katherine breaks down what “calling out the elephant” looks like in practice: reading the emotional landscape, choosing timing over impulse, and speaking truth without weaponizing it.From emotional intelligence to communication frameworks, we examine how leaders can replace fear with curiosity — and transform tension into alignment.TL;DR* Avoidance kills trust faster than conflict ever will.* Clarity + compassion = productive honesty.* Name the issue early — silence grows resentment.* True kindness includes telling the truth.* Courageous dialogue builds stronger, safer teams.Memorable lines* “Kindness without honesty is just avoidance in disguise.”* “The longer you avoid the elephant, the bigger it gets.”* “When you name what's real, people finally exhale.”* “Courage isn't about comfort — it's about connection.”Guest: Katherine Lazaruk — Founder, LZRK Consulting | Executive Coach & Keynote Speaker LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/katherinelazaruk/ Website: https://lzrkconsulting.com/Why it mattersEvery organization has its unspoken truths — unaddressed conflicts, performance gaps, or cultural tension. Leaders who learn to name those realities, with empathy and clarity, create workplaces where honesty isn't feared but valued. On this week's episode of Fearless we're returning to our “Elephant in the Room” series, this time tackling a topic almost no one talks about: generational sin. I didn't want to talk about this today either, but after a season where both public and private sins seemed to be everywhere we looked, I felt led to address it here. We talk about how all sin starts out small, but if we're not careful to guard our hearts it will inevitably grow into something we maybe didn't plan, but definitely can no longer control. Sin is also not just a private issue—remember the Coldplay concert couple we all saw cheating on their spouses this summer?—sin affects every area of our lives, including our most important relationships. If left unconfessed and unchecked, sin has the power to be passed down to our kids, our kids' kids, and all the way down the line. Generational sin is a real thing, and it's something we as the church need to be addressing. But even though this topic is on the heavier side, we're not without hope when it comes to combatting the sin in our lives. We have the power, through Christ living within us, to stop sin in its tracks and prevent it from affecting the generations to come. If you're needing a healthy dose of conviction today, you'll find it here, but we'll also leave you with the encouragement, next steps, and practical tools needed to stop sin from becoming a generational problem before it starts.

There's an elephant in the room that's keeping you sick, stuck, and afraid—and almost no one is talking about it.Trauma isn't just the big things that happened to you. Hello, everyone! We are back with Golden Bachelor Mel and his journey to find a woman who doesn't care about what he said months ago about wanting to find a match who is fifteen years younger than he is, with no artificial joints. Isn't this fun? ABC wasted no time finding delightful women with very forgiving hearts. They think Mel is a catch, and they will stop at nothing to prove to him that women in their golden years are full of life! Full of energy! And, if your name is Nicholle, full of cringe-worthy moments that involve her tongue down Mel's throat. Can someone find me a couch cushion to hide behind, please? Thanks! Sarah tackles an uncomfortable truth that coaches need to hear: AI tools like ChatGPT can't build your marketing for you—at least not effectively. While AI can generate content, it can't replace the critical thinking required for marketing that actually converts clients.Key Takeaways:The Core Problem: If you haven't done the foundational thinking, AI-generated marketing won't achieve your desired outcomes. Coaches are selling a service most people don't understand, which means marketing must educate before it can persuade. Why Coaches Fail: The 82% global failure rate for coaches isn't due to poor coaching skills—it's because they never learned how to acquire clients. Many mistake marketing for something superficial that can be automated without understanding it first. The GIGO Principle: Garbage in, garbage out. Vague inputs like "I coach professionals in transition to find clarity and confidence" produce vague, ineffective content that won't resonate with potential clients. What's Required Instead:Select a niche based on both your knowledge and commercial viabilityDefine your ideal client from real-world experience, not AI guessworkLearn to describe your audience's problems in their own wordsUnderstand their lived experience through direct observationAI as a Multiplier, Not a Substitute: Once you've done the foundational work—identified your niche, understood your ideal client, and clarified your marketing message—AI becomes powerful for amplifying reach, saving time, and refining ideas. Use it for the grunt work, not the groundwork.Bottom LineMarketing and commercial thinking are professional skills that require learning, just like coaching itself. Master these fundamentals first, then leverage AI to scale your efforts. There are no shortcuts to building a thriving coaching practice.Want to learn expert-level AI skills after doing the foundational thinking? Connect with Sarah to discover how to use AI effectively in your coaching business.
Stephen Grootes speaks to Jameel Khan, Co-founder of Unconventional CA, about South Africa’s failing Enterprise and Supplier Development sector – and what he calls the R20-billion elephant in the room. Each year corporates pour more than R20 billion into ESD, yet nearly 40% of targets go unmet, unemployment remains stubbornly above 30%, and small businesses continue to struggle. Khan argues the problem isn’t the money but the mindset – ESD too often reduced to a compliance exercise instead of a growth engine. Have you ever been at a family gathering where someone brings up politics at the dinner table? Suddenly the room goes quiet, and everyone braces for conflict. That's how many of us feel when certain names or cultural voices come up in conversation. This Sunday at Real Life, we're continuing our series The Elephant in the Room by asking: How should Jesus followers respond when culture is loud and divided? How do we stand for truth without being consumed by anger or hate? How do we keep Jesus at the center when politics and personalities threaten to pull us apart? This isn't a political message. It's not about left or right. It's about the deeper question: Do people see Jesus in us?Together, we'll look at what Scripture says about anger, forgiveness, and unity, and how we can live as citizens of a kingdom “not of this world” (John 18:36). Don't miss this timely and powerful word — come ready to be challenged, encouraged, and reminded that Jesus is still on the throne.
US imperialism is directly connected to hundreds of millions of people's lives throughout the world, capital accumulation and global inequality, climate change, fascism. The U.S. enforces its violent empire by maintaining almost 800 military bases around the world. Each one contaminates the soil. Occupies land. Each base contributes to the U.S. military project's status as #1 institutional polluter in the world, as it unleashes over a billion metric tons of CO2 in the atmosphere. As it destroys the built and natural environment wherever its boots touch the ground. In this episode, we engage with Jodie Evans from CODEPINK to explore the crucial relationship between war and environmental degradation. We unpack the concept of the War Economy, its devastating impacts on our planet, and discuss the urgent need for a shift towards a Peace Economy. Join us as we challenge the narratives surrounding militarism and advocate for a world where peace and sustainability coexist. Support the Podcast via PayPal https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=LBGXTRM292TFC&source=url The environmental movement and the peace movement share a target: militarism. War is driven by resource extraction; without it, the push for control of fossil fuels, rare earth minerals, shipping ports and channels would not be necessary nor possible. Therefore a Peace Economy would help keep the fossil fuels in the ground and direct investment in clean and renewable energy, as well as regenerative growth in agriculture and green infrastructure that both create jobs and improve our biosphere as a place for living and thriving. Newt talks with Erik Bork, the Emmy award-winning writer and director of the new film "The Elephant in the Room." The film is a romantic comedy that explores the challenges of political polarization through the story of a progressive woman who discovers her seemingly perfect partner voted for President Trump. Bork shares insights into his career, starting with his break from Tom Hanks, and discusses the creative process behind the film, including the challenges of portraying political differences authentically. He also delves into the complexities of independent filmmaking, from fundraising through platforms like Wefunder, to navigating distribution in a crowded media landscape. Bork emphasizes the importance of marketing and word-of-mouth in promoting independent films and highlights the potential for community screenings to foster discussion on political polarization. The film is available on major streaming platforms, and interested groups can host screenings to engage in dialogue about the film's themes. https://elephantintheroomfilm.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
