“No, no. Listen. I put everybody that comes into my life in the category of a tree. Some people are like leaves on a tree. The wind blows, they're over here. It blows the other way, they're over there. They're unstable. Seasons change. They wither and die. They're gone. That's alright. Most people in the world are like that. They're just there to take from the tree. They aren't going to do anything but take and give shade every now and then. That's all they can do. Don't get mad at people like that. That's who they are. They were put on the earth to be a leaf. Some people are like a branch on the tree. You gotta be careful of those branches too. They'll fool you. They make you think they're a good friend and they're real strong, but you step out there on them, and they break and they leave you high and dry. But if you find you two or three people in your life just like the roots at the bottom of that tree, you are blessed ‘cause them the kind of people that ain't going nowhere. They ain't worried about being seen. Don't nobody have to know they know you. Don't have to know what they're doing for you. But if those roots weren't there, that tree couldn't live. A tree can have a hundred million branches, but there's only a few roots down at the bottom. I'm telling you son, when you get some roots, hang onto them. But the rest of them, let it go. Let folks go.” -Madea (Tyler Perry) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support
Gabby Petito was killed by her fiance Brian Laundrie; her body was left to rot beyond recognition. The word democracy in America has a different meaning based exclusively on the political party one belongs to. Most people in America minus Republicans have a pretty good understanding of what democracy ought to be. Republicans on the other hand define democracy anything that's beneficial to them or better yet anything that does benefit democrats. The January 6 2021 riots with the objective to overturn the 2020 elections is democracy to Republicans; shielding Donald Trump from being punished for throwing the country into a chaos is democracy. Anything Joe Biden does today is caused for impeachment. As such, there is no remedy until the country falls apart. Should the rest of us simply throw the towel? Sure in any democratic system one is free to do as one please as long as what one does, does not affect others. The second part of that sentence is what makes democracy work. The damn patriots in the Republican Party seem to think nobody else's right matters; to them, that's what patriotism is all about. The dilemma faced by the Biden administration provides a peek into the sheer ignorance among the Republicans, and even worst the hatred they harbor for their fellow countrymen. Sure in any democratic system one is free to do as one please as long as what one does, does not affect others. The second part of that sentence is what makes democracy work. One freedom ends where someone else's begins. The re-emergence of the Coronavirus is the most blatant example of Republicans' disregard for others' freedom. The air that we breathe, the water that we drink are the two most essentials in our life without which we would die. And yet, Republican Legislators and elected officials (governors, mayors) across the country have made easy for businesses to pollute both essentials in exchange for campaign finance money. The debate over voting rights Republicans have made a point to render difficult cannot possibly be construed as good for democracy by any measure. Democratic countries across the world strive to make it easier for everyone to participate. In America, Republicans exclusively have used every weapon in their arsenal to make it truly difficult for people to participate in the democracy experiment. It is no wonder a doomsday is predicted for America. To most, a doomsday prediction can only be conceived in the minds of lunatics. Since its independence, America has never not at war. Be it in the domestic front or in some international conflicts, US government has embarked America in a journey of war of sort with anyone the government claims to be enemy. At times it's obvious such was in the case of the war with Iraq; other times, not so obvious. But most of the wars America is involved in could be avoided. With China, it's a different kind of war; it's a trade war, a war that's been ongoing for several decades now. Could that war with China inflict casualties on America? Is there a circumstance when it is okay for someone to hurt others? What if there is justification for doing so? What if hurting others benefit even more? What if hurting others benefit oneself? Do NO HARM to others, recommends the Bible. And yet, most harm done to others are perpetrated by the very people who claim to be Christian. Would you engage in a war if you knew in advance you're going to lose? Most people would not. To begin with, wars are never without casualties; so, before one commits to going to war, it's important to think it through even if one believes it's necessary to achieve a specific objective. Why not diplomacy? Republicans in general have declared war on America, on its democracy, literally? What should the rest of the country do? Can we simply do nothing and hope for a quick end? The country is back to normal, or is it? Yes, to a large extent. No, to a great extent. While the Biden administration is working on both domestic and international agendas in the hope of returning the country to what it was before the Trump administration, it's becoming clearer every day i's a fantasy for some groups, blacks in general, minority in particular it will ever be normal. The trial of Derek Chauvin marks an inflection point in the way the justice system might work from now on. There was a unanimous decision that Derek is guilty of murder. Despite the overwhelming evidence, the nation was bracing for protests, for chaos. That alone should give pause to a nation that has yet to force the racists in its midst, especially those in position of power to remove themselves from the process or join in to change the predicament. The verdict was not unexpected, but that verdict should not be construed as a victory as dozens of hundreds of cases of police officers are not held accountable for committing murders. Once again, the Republican Legislators prove they are not interested in fixing nagging problems such as the discriminate killing of blacks by police officers. The public execution of George Floyd make it crystal clear changes are needed to curb police violence towards Blacks. And yet, GOP Leaders oppose passage of any policy that would achieve the objective. As pointed out many times before, it's becoming clearer and clearer every day Republicans do not really care about the United States. Trump worked every day during his one-term presidency to divide the country, literally speaking, by race. His departure did not change anything. Race relations in America are at the worst. Republican Leaders across the nation have been passing sweeping legislations that will make it difficult for Blacks to participate in the American democracy, to vote. Voters' frauds claims which plunged the country in the second worst period in its history on January 6, 2021 is used by GOP Legislators to pursue depriving Blacks of the rights to vote. It's a new year. February is only the second month; today is just the fifth day of the month. There is plenty of time to look back at the past four chaotic years the country has gone through. The pandemic is still making ways through our lives, causing deaths to many. There is no lack of hope. As of this publication, there are at least five pharmaceuticals which already have a vaccine and a few more are just around the corner. For Blacks, February is the month to honor Blacks among us and those who left us, the heroes so to speak. Today, we begin the series of "The illusion of progress" touted by Blacks, repeated by Whites, especially those who want to keep things the way it's always been. It's a win-win situation for both parties. It's a new year and something is new. We now have a new president. It's POTUS46. The name is Joe Biden; he is 78 years old, the oldest individual elected to the presidency of the United States. But don't let the age fool you. Biden is every bit in tune with the issues facing the left, the right, the young, the old, the rich, the poor, the disaffected, the left behind and the left out. He is working on all fronts to address every issue but it is a steep climb. The opposition is fierce and almost impossible to reason with. The belief on conspiracy theories by those who oppose him is unprecedented. Although it is said and believed that the good always. The fight Mr. Biden is engaged is literally a fight between good and evil. There is no way to know for sure which side will win, or whether there is a win at all. The outcome of this fight will however forever impact the nation. It's a new year and something is new. This episode was created the day before the inauguration of a new president. The country was joyful and anxious. The president-elect awaited patiently for the departure of his predecessor, an event which will occur on the same day of his inauguration. For the first time in 250 years, the United States will attend to the ceremony of a new president absent of the transfer of power aspect of the ceremony. The norm is broken. The United States is in decadence. But Joe Biden is determined to revive the spirit of patriotism through unity. Here, we look at whether it is just a dream or there is reason to be hopeful. It's a new year and something is new. It's becoming increasingly clear even to a blind man that Donald Trump will have to vacate the Oval Office. But what should trouble America is the fact that most Republicans (147 Congressmen and a dozen Senators) subscribe to behaviors and actions that are blatantly unpatriotic at best, truly treasonous. The road to remedy America's problem is not with the departure of Trump but with expelling most Republicans who took part in the sedition to overturn our government. Anything less would make the idea of democracy in America a joke. On January 6 2021, which is in the first week in the new year, the country was thrusted unto the world stage for the worst possible reason. A mob of rioters, supporters of Donald Trump, descended to Washington to prevent the process of elections certification from happening. They stormed the nation capitol, vandalized and destroyed offices; they left behind several injured and five dead in addition to other forms of damage inflicted in the nation. The United States could have never imagined an individual with no political experience, and so much deference to America No 1 enemy could be admired by millions in a political Party which has always claimed to be Patriots. Can that even be the beginning of the end of America's democracy? It's a new year but not much has changed but plenty have. the Elections Are Over - Donald Trump has yet to concede. It's getting ridiculous, really. Republicans tolerate Trump's chipping at our democracy while taking advantage of naive and gullible people who continue to believe he could keep the Oval Office. He CANNOT. There is ZERO possibility for that to happen, and yet millions of Republicans continue to pour money into Trump's coffer for the improbable outcome of staying president. The damage that's inflicted in our system of democracy is not easily reversible. Added to Trump's nefarious actions, callous politicians and indifferent business leaders have rushed in to cash in on the ignorance of those who continue to support an effort which will be 100% fruitless. It is really getting ridiculous. We owe the survival of our democracy to Democrats, a small group of Republicans as well as the Court system which has not succumbed to political pressure. The Elections are over but... This is series 5 episode 5 in which we talk about the factors which will make Rebuilding America a very difficult task. Donald Trump has yet to concede. Trump believes he has enough tricks he accumulated in his lifetime to con America a second time. He was not wrong; he could have, had it not been the vigilance of a majority who stood up for our democracy The Republican Party comprises leaders and supporters who see no qualm to the idea of overturning the results of the elections. As such, GOP Legislators work aggressively to undermine the Elections systems while the Republican supporters took to the streets to demand a reversal of the outcome of the elections. All in all, Republicans are okay doing away with the Constitution of the United States. We owe the survival of our democracy to Democrats, a small group of Republicans as well as the Court system which has not succumbed to political pressure. A crushing blow delivered by the Supreme Court to the ridiculous effort put an end to any hope of another successful con. The Elections are over but... This is series 5 episode 4 in which we talk about the difficult task of Rebuilding America.
