Matt argues that the recent wave of exchange closures and layoffs—including BitMEX, BitMart, Momentum Labs, Storage Labs, and workforce reductions at Uphold—reflects a maturing industry rather than a crisis. As retail speculation fades and trading volumes decline, he believes only exchanges offering meaningful services such as institutional custody, compliance, and infrastructure will survive.
