Keen skier Philip Walsh couldn't wait to celebrate his 30th birthday by going skiing in the Canadian Rockies with some friends. However ecstasy turned to tragedy as he waited to be picked up by a helicopter in one of the most beautiful places in the world after completing his ski. His instructor suddenly pointed to an avalanche in the distance after hearing a ‘woof' sound and within seconds the group was hit by a wall of snow. “It was like being hit by a wave the size of a Ford Transit doing 70mph,” he recalled. “I was tumbled over and over like a pebble being rolled by a wave against the seashore.” He was only rescued because his hand was sticking out of the snow but two of the party were trapped under the snow and tragically died. In ‘The Holiday That Changed My Life' podcast, Philip reflects on his brush with death and why he was determined not to pass on his fears to his children when they started skiing. · We'd love to hear about the holiday that changed your life. Today, I'm excited to bring to you a conversation I had recently with Philip Walsh head of marketing at Havelock Wool. Havelock Wool manufactures and sells premium insulation made entirely from sheep's wool. It is healthy, high-performance insulation. Their raw material is sourced in New Zealand and processed in Reno, NV. They believe #naturedoesitbetter and they are on a mission to give consumers a more intelligent option when buying insulation. Why do their customers love their product? well because it's a new option for homeowners that is safer, warmer, has natural moisture wicking properties as well as the ability to dry out, is non toxic and sustainable! They even have been using this product to insulate RVs. So even though insulation isn't something we talk about much, it's so interesting to learn about what is new or trending in the marketplace that is going to be a safer and better option for you when you do decide to remodel or build. So stay tuned! Let's grow!
My guest today is Philip Walsh who shares with us his struggles to fit into mainstream society at times, he wants to live in a world full of good food, nature and healing. After leaving home and travelling around the world, it brought him on a journey of self-discovery which led him back home to Ireland where he opened up a men's circle to help and encourage others to share and feel supported. Philip has created a space for men of all ages and backgrounds, to come together in an open and non-judgemental way, exploring topics that they can learn from each other. A lover of music, horses and travel, Philip now feels he has finally begun to understand the journey of self-love and wants to now share this with others through Reiki, mindfulness and energy training. A wonderful and calm presence, Philip's energy is open and compassionate to others. I look forward to watching his future unfold.
