In Episode 85 The Boston Sisters explore the 1989 film GLORY with Frank Smith, founder and executive director of the African American Civil War Memorial Museum. Smith shares the history of the museum, established to honor over 200,000 African American soldiers of the United States Colored Troops (USCT) who fought for freedom during the American Civil War (1861 - 1865). GLORY, the powerful 1989 historical war drama directed by Edward Zwick, tells the story of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, one of the first all-Black units in the American Civil War. GLORY follows Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, (Matthew Broderick) the commanding officer of the 54th Massachusetts, as he trains, leads and fights alongside his troop. Yet in the fight to preserve the Union, racial segregation and discrimination persist in the U.S. military during the Civil War. GLORY also features Denzel Washington, in an Academy Award-winning performance as Private Trip, Andre Braugher as Colonel Shaw's childhood friend Cpl Thomas Searles, and Morgan Freeman as Sergeant Major John Rawlins. -------"Revolution to Rights: America at 250 " 10-part series. In 1959, the U.S. Army drafted a serious plan to build a nuclear-powered military base on the Moon.Serious... They really did. With reactors. And personnel. On purpose. It was called Project Horizon. Then JFK pivoted to Apollo, astronauts planted flags, and history books closed the case… Or did they? This week, we break down the documented Cold War Moon plans, JFK's race to beat the Soviets, MJ-12 whispers, and hacker Gary McKinnon's claim that he stumbled onto evidence of a secret space fleet and the possibility this was never really mothballed. Was Horizon just a very ambitious binder? Or was Apollo the public show while something quieter happened in the background?Join us as we separate the record from the rumors, run a thought experiment on how a hidden lunar base could work, and ask the big question: Did we just visit the Moon… or did we move in? All that and more this week on Hysteria 51!Special thanks to this week's research sources:Project Horizon (1959 U.S. Army Lunar Base Study)U.S. Army Ballistic Missile Agency. Have you ever heard the phrase "healthy competition?" Competing is often viewed as a positive: we are told that it motivates us, drives innovation, and helps us excel. But what if this approach were mistaken, and competition actually causes more harm than good? In this panel discussion, author Ruchika T. Malhotra will be joined by Ijeoma Oluo, Ekin Yasin, and La'Kita Williams to explore the central ideas of her new book, Uncompete: Rejecting Competition to Unlock Success. Author Ruchika Malhotra offers a different framework for success than what we are used to. Uncompete argues that competition leads to exhaustion, anxiety, burnout, and an isolating lack of community. It encourages a scarcity mindset and keeps us from reaching our true potential. Instead, Malhotra argues, we should be investigating this cultural norm and even rewriting it into ways that are likely unfamiliar, such as by tapping into benign envy or finding joy in other people's victories. Drawing on interviews as well as Malhotra's own experiences working with corporations as an inclusion strategist, Uncompete promotes a culture of collaboration and mutuality. The book offers that this approach leads not only to a happier workplace, but one more likely to succeed. Likewise, it can also lead to happier and healthier lives even outside of work. Malhotra subverts the dominant, dog-eat-dog paradigm and makes a radical argument: there is room for everyone at the table and everyone can succeed. Ruchika T. Malhotra is the founder of Candour, a global inclusion strategy firm that has worked with some of the world's biggest organizations. She is a regular contributor to Harvard Business Review and was a founding editor of The Establishment, a women-funded-and-led media website, has written for The New York Times, Forbes.com, TIME, Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, Quartz, The Seattle Times, and more. She was an adjunct faculty in Communications at University of Washington and Seattle University and is the author of INCLUSION ON PURPOSE: An Intersectional Approach to Creating a Culture of Belonging at Work, MIT Press' top selling book of 2022. Ijeoma Oluo is a Seattle-based writer, speaker, and internet yeller. She is the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling first book, So You Want To Talk About Race, Mediocre, and Be a Revolution. Her work on race and gender has been published in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and NBC News; and she has been featured on The Daily Show and NPR's All Things Considered. Named on the TIME 100 Next list and The Root 100, she's been awarded the Harvard Humanist of the Year Award, the American Humanist Association's Feminist Humanist Award, Gender Justice League's Media Justice Award, and the Equal Opportunity Institute's Aubrey Davis Visionary Leadership Award. Dr. Ekin Yasin is a professor, researcher, and program leader with expertise in communication, emerging technologies, and leadership development. As Director of the Communication Leadership graduate program at the University of Washington, her work explores how technology transforms identity, storytelling, influence, and global communication. She collaborates with universities around the world on program development, AI-integrated curriculum design, and responsive education models that meet the needs of a shifting global landscape. La'Kita Williams is the Founder and Principal Strategist of CoCreate Work, a future-focused coaching and consulting company specializing in executive coaching and organizational development. She holds a Master's in Social Work and is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC). La'Kita developed the 5 Components of Inclusive Culture, a step-by-step framework to help organizations, small businesses, and emerging companies build responsive workplaces that put humans first. La'Kita teaches graduate courses in the Department of Communication Leadership at the University of Washington, including Resilient and Inclusive Leadership for The Future of Work. She has been quoted in the New York Times, written for Harvard Business Review and MSNBC Know your Value, and has appeared on numerous podcasts to discuss leadership and the future of work.
It's claimed survivors of sexual assault in Clare and across the MidWest have less supports available to them than the rest of the country. It comes amid calls for a sexual assault trauma unit to be established in the region, which would allow forensically collected evidence to be stored for up to a year. Rape Crisis MidWest, meanwhile, currently has 80 people on its waiting list for counselling support. Sinn Féin TD Maurice Quinlivan says the need for such a service is urgent.
Screenshot Literature Review: A) "Establishment of the gut microbiome during early life is a complex process with lasting implications for an individual's health. Several factors influence microbial assembly; however, breast-feeding is recognized as one of the most influential drivers of gut microbiome composition during infancy, with potential implications for function. Differences in gut microbial communities between breast-fed and formula-fed infants have been consistently observed and are hypothesized to partially mediate the relationships between breast-feeding and decreased risk for numerous communicable and noncommunicable diseases in early life. Despite decades of research on the gut microbiome of breast-fed infants, there are large scientific gaps in understanding how human milk has evolved to support microbial and immune development." (Davis et. al. 2022) Main Takeaways: First 1000 days matter a lot for microbial and immune development: Infancy is a critical window when the gut microbiome is assembled and the immune system is learning to respond to microbes and external exposures. Patterns set early can ripple into infection risk, inflammatory diseases, and atopy later in life. Enjoy, Dr. M
In this special Black History Month edition of Amici: News and Insights from the New York Courts, we shine a light on one of the most extraordinary and often overlooked stories in American legal history. It begins in Ulster County, New York, where a newly freed Black woman discovers that her young son has been illegally sold to a plantation in Alabama. Determined to bring her son home and seek justice for herself and her family, she turns to the Ulster County Courthouse in Kingston, NY. Her name was Isabella, the woman the world would come to know as Sojourner Truth. Thanks to the kindness of those she encountered in the courthouse and the bravery of the grand jury she stood in front of, Sojourner Truth became the first Black woman in the United States to successfully sue a white man and win. To help us explore this remarkable chapter of Sojourner Truth's life, we're joined by historian and Ulster County Commissioner of Jurors Paul O'Neill. Paul has made it part of his mission to share Sojourner Truth's story with today's jurors as a reminder “That each of us plays a role, and each of us can make a difference.” Transcript: https://ww2.nycourts.gov/sites/default/files/document/files/2026-02/Paul-O-Neill-Sojourner-Truth.pdf
In this episode of The Risk Reversal Podcast, Dan Nathan and Guy Adami break down the massive rotation rocking the tech sector. Why are investors dumping software darlings like Salesforce, Adobe, and Oracle while Apple hits new highs? The guys debate whether the "AI tailwind" has officially become a headwind for SaaS companies and if the massive infrastructure spend by Microsoft and Google will ever generate a real return. After the break, Dan sits down with Jason Wilk, Founder and CEO of Dave ($DAVE). Jason shares his incredible founder journey—from a professional golf aspirant to landing Mark Cuban as a lead investor who capped his salary at $30k. They discuss how Dave is using AI-driven underwriting to disrupt JPMorgan and Wells Fargo, slashing default rates from 20% to 1%, and the future of fintech in a high-rate environment. —FOLLOW USYouTube: @RiskReversalMediaInstagram: @riskreversalmediaTwitter: @RiskReversalLinkedIn: RiskReversal Media
SHOULD KING CHARLES ABDICATE? EPSTEIN, ANDREW, MANDELSON — MONARCHY UNDER SIEGE #KingCharles #Abdication #PrinceAndrew #Epstein #PeterMandelson #KeirStarmer #UKPolitics #JonGaunt #JonGauntTV SHOULD KING CHARLES ABDICATE? I believe the time has come to ask the question the Establishment is desperate to shut down. King Charles III is a man under immense strain. He is visibly not recovering, not easing back, not growing stronger — and the relentless pressure of scandal, silence and institutional failure is bearing down on him. I believe that for the good of the Crown, abdication must now be on the table. This crisis has a name: Prince Andrew. His association with Jeffrey Epstein continues to rot the monarchy from the inside. The question is simple and unavoidable: why has Andrew still not gone to the United States to be formally questioned? What exactly is being protected — and who? And then there's the part Westminster really doesn't want discussed. While Andrew absorbs all the heat, Peter Mandelson — another man with documented Epstein links — was handed a top ambassadorial job. That wasn't an accident. That was a political decision taken by Keir Starmer — and it was a catastrophic misstep. So I'll say it plainly: Andrew should go to the United States and be questioned. Mandelson should go to the United States and be questioned. No hiding places. No double standards. If Starmer cannot or will not protect the monarchy from this level of damage, then he has no business lecturing anyone about standards in public life. The monarchy is entering dangerous territory — and I believe there is only one way to stabilise it. Prince William represents clarity, authority, and a line under years of scandal. This show doesn't whisper. It doesn't apologise. And it doesn't play palace games.

In this special episode, Paul Rieckhoff reads an op-ed he co-authored with John Opdycke that challenges the narrative that independent voters don't matter. Despite new Gallup polling showing independents now represent 45% of all American voters—the highest number recorded in modern history—the political establishment continues to dismiss them as "leaners" who are really just partisans in disguise, or "spoilers" who siphon votes from legitimate candidates. Paul unpacks why this dismissive narrative persists and traces it back to Ross Perot's explosive 1992 presidential campaign, when 20 million Americans went off-script and forced both parties to pay attention. The Perot movement produced a balanced budget, the Contract with America, and Clintonian triangulation—and terrified the DC establishment in the process. Today, 10,000 Americans switch their registration from Democrat or Republican to Independent every single week. Five independents are running for U.S. Senate this fall, with over 100 independent candidates expected across all levels of government. A majority of Americans now support open primaries that allow non-party voters to participate in publicly funded elections. The independent movement isn't just growing—it's ready to lead. What makes a good New Yorker cartoon? More to the point, who makes a good New Yorker cartoon? In our latest episode of As Told To: The Ghostwriting Podcast, we visit with the magazine's self-described "toonsome twosome," the cartooning team of Bizzy Coy and Lia Strasser, and discover what it takes to tap the talents of a like-minded soul to help you discover your best creative self. "It was out of frustration that I reached out to Bizzy," reflects Lia, the illustrator of this dynamic duo. "I was struggling in the sense that I'd had these ideas that I thought were great and these drawings that I'd thought were great and I'd been submitting to the New Yorker for about a year and nothing was hitting, and a friend of mine suggested I find a writing partner, and of course my ego felt a little dented by that." "I think it took us maybe even a year to even establish, 'What is our creative dynamic?'" recalls Bizzy Coy, the humor writer of the pair. "And it's constantly changing." Lia is a cartoonist, graphic designer, and visual essayist whose work explores narrative illustration at the intersection of politics, culture, and personal history. She is also a kick-ass barista in Sullivan County, N.Y., where her latte foam art is much in demand. Bizzy is an advertising and marketing copywriter who has contributed humor writing to the New Yorker and McSweeney's. Her short humor collection, Personal Space, is a compilation of her favorite pieces, which originally appeared in the above-mentioned publications, and in Splitsider, Points in Case, The Belladonna, and The Establishment. Join us as these two friends and collaborators talk toons, reflect on how they've come together as artists, and share their thoughts on what New Yorker readers find funny. Tucker Carlson has been highly active on the international stage, headlining at the World Government Summit in Dubai earlier this week. India Today reports he joined hosts Geeta Mohan and Marya Shakil to discuss the transformation of global media, praising Russian President Vladimir Putin's leadership in building a cohesive multiracial society and expressing admiration for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an impressive historical figure he hopes to interview soon. He criticized U.S. sanctions on Russia as absurd, pushing the country toward China and India, and highlighted risks of AI-driven propaganda while advocating engagement with Russia. At the same summit, DWS News covered Carlson clashing in a debate with the presidents of Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Sierra Leone on China's growing influence in Africa, U.S. foreign policy missteps, and Europe's declining role, positioning the next decade as potentially African-led.Back home, JTA reveals a brewing showdown as U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, a former Fox colleague and evangelical Trump ally, agreed to an interview on Carlson's show after Carlson's recent video from Israel and Jordan accused him of ignoring Christian oppression there. Filmed amid raids on Christian sites and strikes in Gaza, the report urges American Christians to rethink Israel support, spotlighting Huckabee as a Christian Zionist failing Jerusalem's faithful. This feud underscores fractures in the conservative movement over antisemitism and Israel, with figures like Senator Ted Cruz and Ben Shapiro urging distance from Carlson, though he retains ties to Trump, JD Vance, and groups like Turning Point USA.On his Tucker Carlson Network, Podbean notes fresh episodes including one with Rep. Tim Burchett on UFO secrecy, congressional insider trading, and institutional distrust, fueling his subscription platform's growth through fundraising and patriotic investments. He's also launched a 16-day national media tour with guests like Russell Brand, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tulsi Gabbard, Kid Rock, Alex Jones, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Donald Trump Jr., building his post-Fox empire amid debates on his pro-Islamic bias accusations from Laura Loomer.NPR discusses a new book, Hated By All The Right People by Jason Zengerle, exploring Carlson's far-right influence. Meanwhile, he's ditched Zyn nicotine pouches for his own Alp brand after claiming they funded Kamala Harris. These moves amplify Carlson's sway in media and politics, challenging establishment narratives while deepening divides. Thanks for listening to the Tucker Carlson News Tracker podcast—please subscribe for more updates. Navigating the Complexities of the First Amendment's Religion ClausesIn this episode of the deep dive, we explore the complexities of the First Amendment's religion clauses, focusing on the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause. The discussion begins with the historical context and the evolving interpretations of these clauses, particularly the shift from the Lemon Test to a more historical analysis in modern jurisprudence. The hosts emphasized the importance of understanding the tension between government non-involvement in religion and the protection of individual religious practices, highlighting key cases that illustrate this dynamic. The conversation delves into significant Supreme Court rulings, including the implications of Employment Division v. Smith, which altered the standard of review for free exercise claims, and the subsequent legislative responses like the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) and the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA). The episode concludes with a discussion on the current landscape of religious freedoms, the shrinking 'play in the joints' between the two clauses, and the potential future of government involvement in religious matters, leaving listeners with thought-provoking questions about the balance of these constitutional rights. The First Amendment's religion clauses, the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause, form a cornerstone of constitutional law, presenting a complex interplay between government neutrality and religious freedom. This blog post delves into the historical and modern interpretations of these clauses, exploring key legal tests like the Lemon Test and significant court cases that have shaped the current legal landscape.Understanding the Establishment ClauseHistorically, the Establishment Clause was interpreted through the lens of strict separation between church and state, epitomized by the Lemon Test. This three-pronged test evaluated whether a law had a secular purpose, its primary effect neither advanced nor inhibited religion, and it avoided excessive government entanglement with religion. However, modern jurisprudence has shifted towards a historical practices approach, examining whether government actions align with practices common at the nation's founding. The Free Exercise Clause: A Roller Coaster of Legal StandardsThe Free Exercise Clause has undergone significant changes, from the protective Sherbert-Yoder framework to the more restrictive Employment Division v. Smith decision. The latter established that neutral laws of general applicability do not violate the Free Exercise Clause, even if they incidentally burden religious practices. However, recent cases have introduced exceptions, allowing for strict scrutiny when laws target religion or provide secular exemptions but not religious ones.Balancing Act: The Courts' RoleCourts are tasked with balancing the Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses, ensuring government neutrality while protecting religious freedom. This delicate act involves navigating the "play in the joints," the space where government action is neither required nor prohibited by the clauses. As legal interpretations evolve, the tension between these principles continues to shape the landscape of religious freedom in the United States. The First Amendment's religion clauses remain a dynamic and challenging area of constitutional law. Understanding the historical context, key legal tests, and significant court cases is essential for navigating this complex field. As the legal landscape continues to evolve, the balance between government neutrality and religious freedom will remain a pivotal issue for courts and legal scholars alike.First Amendment, Establishment Clause, Free Exercise Clause, Lemon Test, RFRA, constitutional law, Supreme Court, religious freedoms, legal analysis, law exam

Central bankers are not afraid Trump will “politicize” the Fed and turn it into a crony arm of the government that warps the economy to benefit those close to power. UK is Run by CLOWNS! #JonGaunt #JonGauntTV #Live #KeirStarmer #CraigGuildford #UKPolitics #BrokenBritain #ClownGovernment #CommonSense #EstablishmentFailure #TwoTierJustice #ImmigrationCrisis Britain is in chaos — and no one in charge seems to know what they're doing anymore. We've got a government led by Keir Starmer that's already performed 14 U-turns. Fourteen. Even his own party don't know what they stand for now, other than heading for an electoral wipe-out. Whatever happened to common sense? Today, the Chief Constable of West Midlands Police has been sacked — yet the truth is there are still far too many clowns running our public institutions. Just look around you. The water industry is a mess. Trains don't work. Gas and electricity bills are out of control. Nothing functions as it should. Then there's the prisons crisis, two-tier justice, and talk of scrapping trial by jury. Immigration — legal and illegal — is clearly out of control and the public have had enough of being ignored. The establishment has failed. Completely. So the real question is this: how do we take our country back and put it right?

Russ & Daughters opened in 1914 and is one of the last remaining “appetizing stores” in New York City. The shop – which the owners say is not a deli – is famous for its bagels and lox, among other classic Jewish foods. Now, the Russ family is out with a cookbook that includes history, recipes and musings from the last century. In today's episode, NPR's Scott Simon visits Russ & Daughters, where he finds the shop brimming with smoked salmon, whitefish salad, chubs, trout, sable, sturgeon and more.To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedayLearn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

The Courtiers' Pivot and the Failing Imperial Narrative — Gaius & Germanicus — Gaius and Germanicus, in their metaphorical 91 AD Londinium dialogue, critique the Western foreign policy establishment, dismissively labeled "courtiers," regarding their systematic narrative repositioning on the Ukraine war as military circumstances deteriorate catastrophically. Germanicus argues that these elite advisors prioritize preservation of institutional status and access to executive power over accountability and honest assessment; as the military situation turns decisively against Ukraine, these courtiers seamlessly pivot from predicting Ukrainian victory to blaming European allies for failing to "step up" with additional military commitment. Germanicus draws historical parallels to the fall of the Soviet Union, noting that elites systematically rewrite their past positions retrospectively to claim they foresaw inevitable geopolitical collapses, a psychological mechanism enabling survival without disgrace or professional consequences. Gaius and Germanicuscontrast successful empires possessing unified narratives aligned with coherent strategy against the current Americanapproach, characterized as "predatory opportunism" driven by electoral manipulation requirements. Germanicuscontends that strategic failures in Ukraine—where population and material resources mathematically determine victory—expose the U.S. as a "weak and venal empire" relying upon a "pastiche" of propagandistic lies rather than the solid convergence of vision that characterized American dominance during World War II. 1918 UKRAINE
The $100 Silver Window Is Almost Gone — And This Time It Won't Reopen Watch this video at- https://youtu.be/bXIi8jBSW6Y?si=XOflk-EgU8fzw665 Money Rewind 29 subscribers 788 views Dec 4, 2025 This documentary investigates a recurring four-stage pattern in commodity markets, analyzing its potential application to the contemporary silver market. The central thesis posits that assets historically used as money often undergo a cycle of Establishment, Manipulation, Squeeze, and eventual Break of the paper derivative market. This analysis is contextualized through an examination of current market phenomena, including significant physical silver withdrawals from COMEX vaults, the suspension of silver sales by major international banks, and the presence of market backwardation—a key indicator of acute physical demand. The narrative draws parallels to major historical precedents, including the 1980 silver crisis precipitated by the Hunt brothers, the 1971 "Nixon Shock" which severed the U.S. dollar's final link to gold, and the 2001 palladium supply shock. By dissecting silver's dual role as both a historic monetary asset and an indispensable industrial commodity facing a structural supply deficit, the film argues that the modern silver market is exhibiting classic signs of the "Squeeze" phase, signaling a potential decoupling between the price of physical metal and its paper equivalents.
