Intro/SummaryWater leaks can ruin an RV trip fast, especially when they go unnoticed before you hit the road. In this episode of The Smart RVer Podcast, Eric Stark walks through the most common places where RV leaks occur and how to find them before they cause costly damage.Eric covers roof leaks, plumbing leaks, appliance leaks, and those sneaky drips that only show up when the system is under pressure. He explains why a simple flashlight, a few paper towels, and a little patience can make leak detection much easier. You'll also learn why every RVer should carry a basic emergency repair kit with common PEX fittings, clamps, and a few simple tools. This episode is all about helping DIY RVers catch problems early, make basic repairs when possible, and keep small leaks from becoming trip-ending headaches.Show NotesIn this episode, Eric talks about one of the most important pre-trip inspections every RV owner should do: checking for water leaks. RVs are built with lightweight materials, and even a small leak can cause serious damage if it is ignored. Floors, walls, cabinets, insulation, and underbelly areas can all suffer when water gets where it does not belong.Eric explains the different types of leaks RV owners should watch for, including roof, plumbing, water heater, toilet, faucet, and appliance leaks. He also shares practical ways to track them down using simple items like a flashlight and paper towels. Sometimes the easiest method is still the best: pressurize the water system, slow down, and look closely. The episode also covers why it is smart to inspect your RV before a trip instead of discovering a leak at the campground. Eric encourages listeners to build a small emergency leak repair kit with common PEX fittings, tubing, clamps, and basic hand tools so they can handle minor problems on the road.Whether you are getting ready for your first trip of the season or preparing for a long haul, this episode will help you catch leaks early, protect your RV from water damage, and stay focused on enjoying the trip rather than dealing with repairs.TakeawaysIdentifying water leaks in an RV is crucial, as early detection prevents extensive damage.Using a flashlight and paper towels helps locate leaks in RV systems. It is vital to differentiate between the various types of leaks, such as freshwater and blackwater.Regular maintenance of RV seals and fittings is essential to prevent leaks and costly repairs.Tire-locking chocks effectively minimize movement in tandem-axle trailers, enhancing stability and comfort.Having an emergency kit with the necessary parts can ensure a smooth RV experience while traveling.Get The Free ChecklistResources Mentioned in this Episode: RV Pex Fittings and Tube - What to Keep in Your Tool BoxRV Water Lines and Fittings Made Simple in 2026Spray Port Fitting Video - Fix It Before It BreaksRV Pex Line Water Repair Kits - A must-have for any RVContact Us - Call, Text, Video, EmailOur Online Resources: The Smart Rver YouTube Channel - Check Out Our No-Nonsense YouTube VideosSunpro Mfg - RV Sunshade, Windshield Covers & Slide Out Awning FabricsHot Boat Ropes - Marine Cordage- Anchor Lines, Dock Lines, Tow Lines, etc.Top Rated Podcast - The Smart RVer Podcast Website

Welcome to the June 1, 2026 Monday News Edition of the RV Lifestyle Podcast. I'm Mike Wendland, and this week we have a show that every RV owner needs to hear before they hit the road this summer. We start with a story that I believe goes a long way toward explaining one of the biggest problems facing the RV industry right now: quality control. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration just released the May 2026 recall report, and it covers nearly 15,000 RVs across more than a dozen separate recalls. And before you assume this is routine housekeeping, let me tell you what is on this list. A Tiffin motorhome with a fuel tank punctured by a screw during manufacturing - NHTSA's own guidance says to park it outside and away from structures until the repair is done. A Jayco motorhome missing the water heater safety valve entirely - not defective, just absent. A Winnebago Solis with a propane hose routed directly over the exhaust heat shield. Grand Design Lineage motorhomes with two separate recalls in the same month - unsecured seats and solar panels that could detach at highway speed. And a long list of brands - including our own Brinkley Model Z - with shock bolts that were never properly tightened at the factory. Here is the part that matters most: manufacturers are not required to notify owners immediately. Some of the letters for these recalls are not going out until July. Two months from now. You should not be waiting. Go to NHTSA.gov, enter your VIN, and find out right now whether your rig is on this list. It takes thirty seconds and it could save your life or someone else's. We cover every brand affected, every defect, and every manufacturer phone number you need. From there we move to our RV Blunder of the Year, and I want to be upfront with you: this one comes with an asterisk. According to Cowboy State Daily, someone driving an RV pulled into the Maverik gas station in Montrose, Colorado, and emptied their black water tank - the toilet waste tank - directly into the station's underground diesel fuel supply. Not the dump station that was right there on the property. The diesel tank. We dig into what is actually confirmed, where the sourcing falls short, why the station's silence is a little suspicious, and why the story is worth telling regardless of whether every detail holds up. The lesson at the end of it applies to every new RVer on the road this summer. Then we get into the April 2026 RV industry shipment numbers, and they are not pretty. Total shipments came in at just over 29,000 units for the month - down more than 17 percent compared to April of last year. Through the first four months of 2026, the industry is running nearly 13 and a half percent behind 2025's pace. Towable RVs - the heart of the market - are down more than 20 percent year over year. We connect those numbers directly to the quality control failures we covered in the first story, because they are connected. Consumer confidence does not survive a steady diet of recall lists like the one we just walked through. That said, there is a genuine bright spot: motorhomes finished April up 13 percent compared to last year, and Park Model RVs jumped nearly 30 percent. We break down what those numbers mean and what to watch for the rest of the summer. We close with a story that felt like a breath of fresh air after everything else this week. Alliance RV - one of the most respected independent manufacturers in the business, known for their Paradigm, Avenue, Valor, and Delta lines - just held their seventh annual owner rally in Goshen, Indiana. Nearly 400 rigs and 800 owners showed up. And when someone from the audience asked founders Coley and Ryan Brady straight out whether they planned to sell the company, the answer was a flat no. Ten-plus years of runway ahead, their words. In an industry where Thor Industries and Winnebago have absorbed so many brands it is nearly impossible to keep track, Alliance is planting a flag and saying they are building something different. We tell you why that matters and what it means for RVers who value buying from a manufacturer that still has skin in the game.
This week on Beyond The Wheel, Kenny and Sean dive into what they're seeing across the RV industry as the 2026 travel season ramps up. From shifting buyer behavior and changing campground trends to the rise of off-grid adventure rigs, this episode explores where the RV market stands right now and where it may be headed next. The conversation covers everything from dealer inventory and financing pressures to reservation fatigue, dry camping growth, and whether RVs are becoming too complicated with modern technology. Kenny also shares thoughts from recent time spent around the all-new Winnebago ARKA and the growing demand for true adventure-focused RVs. Topics in this episode include: Reactions to the Winnebago ARKA after Overland Expo Sean's recent outdoor adventure trip Current shifts in RV buyer behavior Dealer inventory, pricing, and negotiating leverage Financing rates and affordability concerns The used RV market reset Why premium adventure rigs continue to grow The rise of solar, lithium, internet connectivity, and off-grid capability Whether RVs are becoming too dependent on technology Campground reservation fatigue and rising camping costs Love's, Flying J, casinos, public land, and overnight travel strategies How social media is shaping RV expectations Why smaller RVs and vans continue gaining popularity Factory lithium, larger battery systems, and the off-grid power race Towables still dominating overall RV sales Why manufacturers may finally be listening more closely to customer feedback The episode also includes predictions for where the industry could be heading next, including affordability concerns, younger buyers entering RVing differently, and whether simpler RVs may eventually make a comeback. Questions discussed during the show: Would you buy new or used right now? Are campgrounds becoming too expensive? What RV trend are you tired of? Would you prioritize luxury or capability? Are RVs becoming too tech-heavy? Thanks for listening to Beyond The Wheel. If you enjoy the show, make sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share the episode with fellow RVers and travelers. Safe travels. STREAMING THE MAKING OF THE JBS, FEATURING JEFF BLISS, 5-22-26.1942-43. TOJO MOCKED.The "Pacific Watch" transcript highlights a pivotal moment for California, characterized by early-season environmental disasters, contentious political shifts, and massive infrastructure challenges. The California wildfire season has arrived with alarming speed. A significant blaze in Hemet (Riverside County) recently threatened retirement communities, with flames cresting hills directly behind residential properties. Firefighters utilized orange fire retardant to coat vegetation and slow the fire's progress, a tactic that creates a stark visual contrast against the green hillsides. Additionally, a fire on Santa Rosa Island, reportedly ignited by a stranded boater's flare gun, has consumed nearly 20,000 acres. These events occur amidst discussions of a "Super El Niño," which experts warn could create a "one-two punch": drying out the state to fuel fires and then bringing massive storms that cause mudslides and coastal erosion. The June 2nd jungle primary is the central focus of California politics. In the Los Angeles mayoral race, incumbent Karen Bass faces a surprisingly strong challenge from actor Spencer Pratt. Pratt, who entered politics after his home burned down in the Pacific Palisades fire, has become a vessel for a "protest vote" against the city's perceived disorder. While Bass maintains institutional support from unions and identity politics, Pratt has gained traction through viral, high-quality campaign ads focusing on safety, affordability, and the failure of city hall to rebuild after disasters. A controversial endorsement from Donald Trump has complicated the race, as Bass's camp uses it to label Pratt a "MAGA" candidate, a move designed to alienate West LA voters. In the race for governor, the field is dominated by Steve Hilton, a former Fox News commentator, and Xavier Becerra, the current HHS Secretary. Hilton is currently leading, but Becerra—a late entry backed by the Democratic "machine"—is gaining momentum due to his name recognition and appeal to Latino and union voters. Despite his national profile and potential presidential ambitions, Gavin Newsom faces criticism regarding the state's homeless crisis and the ballooning costs of the high-speed rail project, which has seen estimates jump from $30 billion to potentially over $400 billion. The "homeless industrial complex" is a major theme, with billions of dollars allegedly missing or misspent by non-governmental organizations. In Los Angeles, over half of the homeless population is reportedly from outside the city, drawn by mild weather and available services. The transcript also describes a darker side to the crisis, where criminal cartels allegedly charge homeless individuals rent to live in tents or RVs on the streets.Despite these troubles, there is economic expansion in Orange County with the "Disney Forward" project. This initiative likely involves a significant expansion of the Anaheim park system, potentially adding a "third park" or new themed lands like Toy Story Land to drive attendance and merchandise sales. These developments stand in sharp contrast to the era of 1955, when gas cost 29 cents and traffic on the I-5 freeway was virtually non-existent.
Have you been sitting on a fence so long it's starting to hurt? Holding onto something you love, a job, a relationship, a version of yourself, even though you know in your bones it's time to let go? What if the very thing you're clinging to is the only thing standing between you and the lighter, freer, more you version of your life? Michael is joined on the road, literally, by his wife and new guest speaker, Jessica Lee, as they drive their beloved RV "Tin" to the dealership for the very last time. What begins as a behind-the-scenes look at one family's three-attempt, multi-year RV saga becomes one of the most tender and insightful conversations Inspire Nation has ever aired about change: why we resist it, how to read the energy of it, and what it means when doors stop opening versus when they swing wide the moment you finally say yes. This isn't about RVs. This is about every single thing you've been gripping too tightly, and what's waiting for you on the other side of letting go. Key Topics: Why the mind always focuses on what it's losing and never on what it's gaining, and the one reframe that makes stepping forward feel less like loss and more like becoming. The boomerang effect of big change: Why humans swing from one extreme to the other, and how to find the Goldilocks middle without having to crash and burn at both ends first. How to read the energy of a decision, not the fear, which is always there, but the lightness or the heaviness underneath it, and why that feeling is your most honest compass. The door test: Why some paths keep shutting no matter how gently you push, while others have parts arriving three days early the moment you commit. The pillar of salt lesson: Why looking back, replaying the old, and trying to return to who you were is the one move guaranteed to keep you frozen exactly where you are. Jessica's deeply personal revelation: Why she has been quietly waiting to step into her voice for years, what stopped her, and why the high she felt after her very first recording told her everything she needed to know. Why being unseen is not the safe option it feels like, and the question that flips the famous Marianne Williamson quote on its head: not "who am I to shine?" but "who are you NOT to?" The painting that paints itself: Why the best changes in life don't come from having a clear picture of the outcome, but from pulling on the string that feels good, and trusting it to lead somewhere beautiful. You are on a starting line right now. You can feel it as frustration, as restlessness, as that grr that won't go away, no matter how much you distract yourself. That energy is not telling you to stay put. It is telling you that the person you are becoming is already waiting. Step forward. One tiny step. Let the picture paint itself. And just keep swimming. Today I am speaking with an RVer who redesigned his entire life after a brutal fall required him to learn to walk, write, speak and even swallow all over again. But, it opened the door for him to become a Workamper for a family-owned RV dealership working as a service advisor. Jim Bartleman thought he had life figured out. He was working as a service advisor in the automotive industry, planning for the future and preparing to eventually hit the road in an RV. But, everything changed in an instant after a devastating accident left him in a medically-induced coma and forced him to relearn how to walk, talk, read and swallow. Instead of giving up, Jim used that life-changing experience as motivation to completely redesign his life around what mattered most to him. Today, he and his girlfriend, Caryl Kinney, live fulltime in a Class C motorhome, Workamping at campgrounds in Texas during the winter and working seasonally at a New York RV dealership during the summer. In this episode, Jim shares how he turned a frightening setback into a new beginning. He also talks about why more RV dealers should hire Workampers and how the RV lifestyle has allowed him to reconnect with family, travel the country and focus on experiences instead of accumulating possessions. Jim shares his experiences dry camping under massive desert skies and learning French at a campground filled with Canadian snowbirds. Jimmy Bartleman and a donkey, George, he met at a Hipcamp farm. Based on his experiences, Jim explains why people should stop waiting until retirement to start living the life they want. Whether he is working seasonally at an RV dealership or serving as a camp host in Texas, Jim found a way to combine his passion for helping people with a lifestyle built around travel, flexibility and meaningful experiences. Along the way, he discovered the value of Workamping and the freedom that comes with full-time RV living as well as the importance of making memories while you still can. Jim also shared practical advice for new RVers and explained why smaller RVs can offer more flexibility. He talked about the growing number of younger people embracing the Workamping lifestyle long before retirement age. If you would like to follow Jim's adventures or connect with him directly, you can find him on Instagram or on Facebook. Most Workampers, like Jim, have interesting stories to tell about their travels and experiences. If you would you like to be featured in an upcoming episode of The Workamper Show, I encourage you to schedule an interview with me at workampershow.com. We'd love to hear about your Workamping experiences, how you got started RVing, and what you love and dislike about the RVing lifestyle. You can help others explore all the different ways to live this great lifestyle by sharing your story. If you are an employer of Workampers, we invite you to be on the podcast, too. Share all of the details of your Workamping jobs in a future episode. It only costs a little bit of your time. Schedule an interview with me today by going to workampershow.com. IntroIn this episode of The Smart RVer Podcast, Eric Stark takes a closer look at Topargee RV water gauges and why accurate fresh water monitoring matters, especially for RVers who dry camp or boondock.Factory RV water gauges are often vague and unreliable. They may tell you the tank is full, two-thirds full, or empty, but that does not always help you know how much water you actually have left. Topargee water gauges take a different approach by helping RVers track water usage more accurately, giving them a better idea of how many gallons remain in the tank.Eric also talks about practical RV battery connection solutions, including Connect-Ease battery cables, which can make battery hookups cleaner, easier, and more reliable. Whether you are managing a basic battery setup or adding solar and other accessories, better connections can save time and reduce frustration. This episode is all about practical upgrades that help RV owners avoid preventable problems, manage their systems with more confidence, and stay focused on enjoying the trip.Show NotesIn this episode, Eric Stark discusses practical RV upgrades that can make life on the road easier, starting with Topargee RV water gauges. Many RV owners know the frustration of factory tank monitors that only provide rough readings. A gauge may show one-third, two-thirds, or full, but that does not always tell the real story. That can become a real problem when dry camping or boondocking. When you are relying on the fresh water in your tank, guessing is not good enough. Eric explains how Topargee water gauges help RVers better understand their water usage and accurately gauge how much water they have left. This can help with planning showers, washing dishes, conserving water, and avoiding running out too soon.Eric also covers an often-overlooked part of the RV electrical system: automotive-style circuit breakers commonly found on the frame of many RVs. These small breakers can affect power to important systems, yet many RV owners do not know they are there. Eric explains why they matter, what can happen if one fails, and why RVers should know how to identify and replace them. The episode also highlights Connect-Ease battery cables, a cleaner and simpler way to manage RV battery connections. Battery compartments can quickly become crowded, especially when adding solar, inverters, chargers, or other accessories. Connect-Ease cables can help organize those connections, making the battery setup easier to understand, service, and maintain.Overall, this episode gives RV owners practical information they can use to improve their fresh water monitoring, understand an important electrical component, and simplify battery connections. These are the kinds of small upgrades and maintenance tips that can help RVers avoid frustration, stay out of the repair shop, and enjoy more time camping.Resources Mentioned in this Episode: Topargee RV Water GaugesConnect-Ease Battery CablesContact Us - Call, Text, Video, EmailOur Online Resources: The Smart Rver YouTube Channel - Check Out Our No-Nonsense YouTube VideosSunpro Mfg - RV Sunshade, Windshield Covers & Slide Out Awning FabricsHot Boat Ropes - Marine Cordage- Anchor Lines, Dock Lines, Tow Lines, etc.Top Rated Podcast - The Smart RVer Podcast Website

Today, I get to interview a woman who is a member of the Fireside RV Rental team to talk about how the company can help people considering the RV lifestyle, as well as assist Workampers in making money. Stacy Maxon is the chief development officer at Fireside RV Rental, a company that helps RV owners earn income by renting out their units. The firm also gives people contemplating the RV lifestyle a chance to experience it first without making a big purchase. Stacy has a unique perspective because she has operated a franchise location with her husband, she works on the corporate side of the business, and has lived full time on the road with her family. In this episode, she explains how the Fireside RV Rental model works, why it can be a smart way to test RV life before buying, and how Workampers may soon find opportunities with Fireside locations across the country. Stacy also shares what it takes to run a franchise, how the flexible business can be a lucrative money-making option for full-time RVers, and why this could be a great fit for people looking to blend work and travel. She explained how their centralized storage model helps maximize bookings, why renters are carefully vetted for safety, and how the company supports new RVers and experienced travelers with delivery, setup and training. Stacy also described the growing opportunity for Workampers to find seasonal work with franchise owners by cleaning rental RVs, providing customer walkthroughs, assisting with deliveries, and helping at high-demand seasonal locations. She outlined the money-making aspects of being a Fireside RV Rental franchise owner. Some franchisees are full-time RVers themselves, but success in the business comes down to organization, customer service and a willingness to learn the system. There's a version of life in Acadiana that most of us only see from a car window. We live in something of a paradise, it’s just sort of removed from your day-to-day reality. That’s in part because Louisiana’s natural beauty isn’t always so easy to see. Louisiana is flat. Famously so. We don’t have mountain vistas to behold. So, if you want to really drink in Acadiana’s splendor, you probably need to get on the water. Don’t have a boat? Don’t worry about it. Reed Rudasil has you covered. Reed is the owner of Wanderlust Rentals, a startup that rents kayaks, right on the water. He grew up in Lafayette and studied civil engineering at UL. But he figured out pretty quick he didn't want to sit in an office. He tried landscaping, he managed a crawfish restaurant, he started buying rental properties. Eventually Reed founded a property management company called Experience Louisiana, focused on short-term rentals that often put guests close to waterways. Renting kayaks came naturally from there. Many of the properties he manages sit on the water — and guests kept asking what to do once they arrived. Reed's answer was Wanderlust Rentals, Louisiana's first multi-point service kayak rental system. The concept is straightforward: kiosks placed by the water, stocked with single and tandem kayaks. Customers sign a waiver, pay, get a code, and they're on the water. No staff required. No waiting. The whole transaction happens just feet from the bayou. Don’t have a car to get the bayou? Maybe try an e-bike. They’re everywhere, in case you hadn’t noticed. The electric bike market in the United States was worth $2 billion in 2025 and is projected to more than double in the next decade. Gerri Simon is a serial entrepreneur who’s cashing in on that market. She owns eBikes Plus, a one-stop shop for electric bike sales and repair here in Lafayette. She grew up in Vermilion Parish — not far from the water, and not far from the kind of hands-on problem solving that runs in Cajun households. Gerri's dad, she'll tell you, was an engineer who never finished high school. He taught her to build things and to work on things. She took that instinct to UL, where she discovered she was good at math, and came out the other side with a degree in mechanical engineering. She later got an MBA. She went on to found and operate several businesses before landing on eBikes plus. A big part of her customer base is retirees with RVs who pack up the bikes to take with them on their roving vacations. But more and more people are turning to e-Bikes as their primary means of conveyance. Out to Lunch Acadiana was recorded live over lunch at Tsunami Sushi in downtown Lafayette. Imagine a generator so quiet and lightweight that it can be placed right next to your CPAP machine or refrigerator in your bedroom. This is exactly what Mark Collins, CEO of Emission Free Generators Inc, has achieved with the Zen H2 Generator—a groundbreaking innovation in emission-free energy. The generator works in tandem with proprietary energy cartridges filled with a unique, powdered material. When water is added, the cartridge produces just the right amount of hydrogen, which is immediately converted into electricity. Mark explained, “You only create the amount of electricity that you need to power that single device. It's a very, very efficient way of supplying electricity to specific objects.”Unlike traditional generators, which are noisy, smelly, and potentially dangerous due to emissions and exhaust, the Zen H2 is quiet, safe, and environmentally friendly. The system operates without high-pressure hydrogen storage or cables snaking across your home. “You can put this right in the bedroom next to the CPAP machine, safely, quietly operating,” Mark explained in today's episode. This innovation is especially valuable for people relying on medical devices or those interested in sustainable energy solutions. Beyond emergency backup at home, the generator also holds promise for areas in the developing world where access to electricity is limited.Mark and his team are raising capital via Wefunder to bring the Zen H2 Generator into full-scale production. Crowdfunding was a natural choice for the company; it provided a way to test their product concept in the market and connect with stakeholders. “We've had over 400 investors… It's taught us a lot about what people want, their comments, their needs,” Mark said.Investors also have the opportunity to earn early access to the generator, making this campaign not just an investment in clean technology, but one in practical innovation that transforms lives. The Zen H2 Generator has the power to change how we think about electricity both at home and around the world. With emission-free energy production that's safe and easy to use, Mark's invention could make noisy, traditional generators obsolete.tl;dr:Mark Collins introduces Zen H2, a quiet, emission-free hydrogen-powered generator for emergency backup at home. The generator works with innovative cartridges producing hydrogen on demand without high-pressure storage.Mark discusses his decades of entrepreneurial experience and successful, purpose-driven innovations. The company is crowdfunding to scale production, connecting with over 400 WeFunder investors.Mark emphasizes persistence and purpose as the driving forces behind solving big, global problems. How to Develop Relentless Problem-Solving As a SuperpowerMark's superpower is his ability to see problems as opportunities for improvement and innovation. He shared in today's episode, “The main thing that keeps me really buoyant… is just looking at a problem and saying, there has to be a better way.” This passion drives his determination to create solutions that benefit not just a few, but entire communities. After selling a company he had built over 11 years, Mark found himself at odds without purpose. He described being in a “heavy funk” during his brief retirement, struggling to find fulfillment. He rechanneled this energy into new opportunities by diving back into his natural gift for problem-solving. This led to the initial development of what would become the Zen H2 Generator, an invention focused on solving real-world challenges with clean, reliable power.Tips for Developing Relentless Problem-Solving:Start by questioning the status quo: If something isn't working well, ask how it could be improved.Simplify your ideas: Break down a challenge into actionable, practical steps for innovation.Surround yourself with a team that complements your strengths and moves your ideas forward.Stay persistent and adaptable dust yourself off after setbacks and tackle problems from new angles.Focus on scalable solutions that make a broad impact, not only for yourself but for others.By following Mark's example and advice, you can make relentless problem-solving a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Stay Cool This Summer!Guest ProfileMark Collins (he/him):CEO, Emission Free Generators IncAbout Emission Free Generators Inc: Emission Free Generators (EFG) is a clean energy technology company redefining portable power through its breakthrough ZenH2 generator. Devin shares the remarkable origin story of Old Glory — from founder Matt Cunningham's days as a firefighter devising a distillery plan in his mid-twenties, through the COVID pivot to hand sanitizer that ultimately funded a towering 24-foot Vendome copper column still, to the 8,650-barrel warehouse that stands today. Devin also reveals his own path into the industry: a Ball State grad from northern Indiana who married into the Cunningham family, sold RVs, and answered a text message that changed everything. **On the Tasting Mat:** - **Old Glory Tennessee Bourbon Small Batch (90 Proof):** A grain-to-glass Tennessee bourbon distilled on a Vendome copper column still from a mash bill of 73% corn, 19% rye, and 8% malted barley, aged approximately three and a half years in new char #4 Kelvin barrels. Bright and clean on the palate with a dry finish, green apple, caramel drizzle, and light citrus — an accessible everyday pour at an approachable price point. *(00:09:50)* - **Old Glory Tennessee Bourbon Bottled in Bond (100 Proof):** Drawn from 15–20 hand-selected pot still barrels and aged five years — an extra year beyond the minimum bonded requirement — this expression steps up the complexity considerably. The same 73/19/8 rye mash bill opens into darker fruit, rich brown sugar, cardamom, cinnamon, and a wave of baking spices, with a noticeably fuller, rounder texture. *(00:30:34)* - **Old Glory Tennessee Bourbon Single Barrel #271 (121.7 Proof / 5 Years 9 Months):** Selected by master blender Caleb Martin, this cask-strength pot still expression offers an entirely different dimension — a lush dessert character of blackberry cobbler, buttery dark fruit, and a lingering finish that keeps unfolding. One of the early pot still barrels that helped define Old Glory's identity before the column still era. *(00:44:10)* From a cornfield off I-24 to nearly 9,000 barrels of aging Tennessee whiskey, Old Glory is a distillery doing it the long way — grain to glass, family owned, community rooted. With a double oak release on the horizon, 100% rye and wheat casks quietly maturing in the warehouse, and a thriving on-site restaurant and event venue, there's plenty of road ahead for Clarksville's homegrown spirit. If you find yourself between Nashville and the Kentucky border, Old Glory Distilling Co. is more than worth the detour.

Welcome back to RV Hour, the official RV lifestyle podcast hosted by Larry McNamara, CEO of Giant Recreation World. In Episode 151, we're diving into two topics every RV owner and future buyer needs to understand — how the Priority RV Network works and what smart RV buyers should know before trading in or upgrading in 2026. Whether you're shopping for your first RV, looking to upgrade your travel trailer, or thinking about trading in your current camper, this episode is packed with insider information from the RV industry. Larry is joined by Nicole Schantz to talk about the Priority RV Network, one of the most valuable benefits available to RV owners. If you've ever worried about getting service while traveling across the country, this network may completely change how you think about RV ownership. What You'll Learn in Episode 151 Priority RV Network – What It Is and Why It Matters Nicole Schantz explains how the Priority RV Network helps RV owners receive service while traveling across the United States. Instead of waiting weeks for service while you're on the road, participating dealers across the country work together to help traveling RVers get back on the road faster. If you plan to travel extensively, this is one of the most valuable benefits you can have as an RV owner. 2026 RV Trade-In & Buying Tips You Need to Hear If you're planning to upgrade your RV in 2026, here are three important tips discussed on this episode: 1. Know Your Trade Value Before You Shop Many RV owners underestimate how much their current RV may be worth. Trade-in values can help significantly reduce the cost of upgrading to a newer model. 2. Look Beyond Just the Price A lower price doesn't always mean the best value. Warranty coverage, dealership support, and long-term service availability are just as important as the purchase price. 3. Shop With a Dealer That Supports You After the Sale Buying an RV is just the beginning of the journey. Service support, parts availability, and nationwide dealer networks can make a huge difference in your ownership experience. Featured Units From GRW's Hot List This week we're highlighting one of the exclusive sale units from Giant Recreation World's Hot List: 2025 Dutchmen Colorado 29BHC – Palm Bay Location On sale now for only $28,949 This bunkhouse travel trailer is a fantastic option for families looking for an affordable RV with plenty of sleeping space and modern features. Welcome to the first author interview in our mini series, Eco-Justice and Climate Action, where we aim to explore inspiring projects at the intersection of climate justice and action research. This series highlights work featured in the 2025 special issue of the Canadian Journal for Action Research, guest edited by Dr. Blane Harvey. We are excited to share these thought-provoking contributions with you.In today's episode, our co-hosts Joe and Shikha are joined by Ipek Türeli, Nathalie Malhamé, and Sarah Nabi who co-authored “Little Architects, Big Ideas: Climate Action Through Design-Based Learning, where big ideas meet small (but mighty) designers. Together, they reflect on their creative and inspiring collaboration in Montreal, Quebec, connecting Ipek's work at the Peter Fung Architecture Faculty at McGill University, with Nathalie and Sarah's fourth grade classes in Royal Vale School. They share their motivations behind the collaboration, surprise findings along the way, and the gratifying experience of exhibiting the students' work at both institutions. The conversation begins with introductions and the story of how the project came to life [2:00]. This led to exploring deeper connections between architecture, environmental justice, and experiential education [8:09] along with challenges and complexities that our guests Nathalie, Sarah and Ipek encountered and navigated in their project [13:18]. They then reflect on the role and importance of the undergraduate architecture students for the success of the collaboration [17:43]. We ask about the young designer's work and what it may reveal about different understandings of climate justice. Through these examples, we explore the surprises and tensions that emerged in the final designs [20:37], leading into a rich discussion about why exhibitions became such a powerful space for sharing this work and supporting student learning [25: 08]. For such a rich and impactful project, we were keen to learn the lasting impacts [30:11] before closing with final reflection and even a mic-drop moment!Thank you Ipek, Nathalie, and Sarah for sharing your time and work with us.And thanks for tuning in to this episode of the Action Research Podcast, created by Joe Levitan, Shikha Diwakar, Cory Legassic, Vanessa Gold, and Adam Stieglitz.Produced by Shikha Diwakar and Vanja Lugonjic.Subscribe to our podcast on most major podcast distribution platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. This week on the RV Lifestyle Podcast News Edition, we are covering the stories that actually matter to your life on the road - and we are not pulling punches.TARIFF CHAOS IS HITTING YOUR NEXT RV We dig deep into the regulatory whiplash that is hammering RV manufacturers right now. It starts with a piece of wood you have never heard of - lauan plywood - and expands into a full picture of how cascading tariffs on steel, aluminum, and imported materials are forcing manufacturers to make pricing decisions in the dark. We also cover the composite alternatives some builders are quietly pivoting toward, and why this mess may actually change how RVs are built for years to come.A FLORIDA FAMILY'S RV EXPLODED. HERE'S WHAT EVERY RVer NEEDS TO DO RIGHT NOW. A 32-foot travel trailer in Lecanto, Florida exploded earlier this month, sending two adults and two children to trauma centers with severe burns. The cause is still under investigation. We use this story to share a number that should stop every RV owner cold - how many RV fires happen in this country every single year - and walk you through a practical spring safety checklist you need to complete before your first trip of the season.THE WORLD IS A MESS. AMERICANS ARE GOING CAMPING. Despite economic uncertainty, trade war anxiety, and a broad pullback in international travel, campground operators across the country are reporting strong advance bookings heading into summer. We tell you why right now is actually a great time to be an RVer - and why you need to book your summer sites this week before they disappear.WE COULDN'T FIND THE RIGHT TOOL. SO WE BUILT IT. Jennifer and I looked at every trip planning app on the market - The Dyrt, Campendium, RV Life, AllStays - and none of them did what we actually needed as full-timers. So we built our own. The brand new RV Lifestyle Trip Planning Dashboard just launched this weekend. It is a web-based planning hub built from the ground up for RVers - route mapping, campground logging, your own ratings and notes, rig specs, travel journal, and a searchable history of everywhere you have ever been. All in one place. On every device you own. We tell you the whole story - and there is a full walkthrough video waiting for you at RVLifestyle.com/tripdashboard.A DEALER CLOSED ITS DOORS. CUSTOMERS CAN'T GET THEIR RVS BACK. We close with a consumer warning story out of California that we see play out in this industry several times every year. An RV dealership in Lockeford abruptly shut down, and customers are now telling the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office they cannot recover their money - or in some cases their own rigs. We walk you through the warning signs that were publicly visible before this happened, and give you a practical checklist for vetting any dealer before you hand over a dollar or a set of keys.LINKS AND RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:RV Lifestyle Trip Planning Dashboard: https://RVLifestyle.com/tripdashboardRVCommunity.com membership: https://RVCommunity.comRV Industry Association tariff updates: https://www.rvia.org/news-insights/latest-tariff-developmentsU.S. Fire Administration RV Fire Data: https://www.usfa.fema.gov/statistics/reports/where-fires-occur/snapshot-rv-fires.htmlNational Park Service RV Fire Safety: https://www.nps.gov/articles/p52-rv-fire-safety-101.htm
This week on The Final Straw Radio, we're featuring an interview with three participants in the feature length documentary Wood Street, about the community that formed in a parking lot at 1707 Wood Street in Oakland. The location was a destination for people evicted from encampments around the city, who either refused or were denied the low number of shelter beds available, or didn't fit into the city lots for camping or recreational vehicles aka RVs. Over the course of 10 years at a few spots on the street, as guest John Janosko explains, residents got to know each other and build bonds to the place and each other as neighbors. The north portion of what became known as the Wood Street Commons was evicted by the city to build transitional tiny homes managed by a services organization called BOSS and residents at the south side of the Commons ramped up organizing with outside supporters to stop the city's eviction plan in 2023 through lobbying politicians and proposing alternative plans. The film shows this work, snippets of the lives of residents and the eventual eviction of the Wood Street Commons in 2023, with over 300 people losing their homes in the end. Since the eviction, the tiny home camp funding ended and it was vacated, the mayor Sheng Thao was recalled and indicted for corruption and the site became a parking lot for a minor league baseball park next door, but people have taken their energy and experience to keep advocating for themselves and other Oaklanders around issues of houselessness. For the hour we speak with John Janosko, a featured face in the film, as well as our past guest Freeway and the film's director Caron Creighton. The Wood Street Movie is touring a number of film festivals and looking to feature elsewhere, in hopes that the film can act as a support and inspiration for other homeless organizing in communities across the country.
