Epicenter - Learn about Blockchain, Ethereum, Bitcoin and Distributed Technologies
We're joined by Igor Barinov, the tech lead of the POA Network. The POA Network achieves a reduction in transaction costs by many orders of magnitude by having a set of trusted validators. All validators must be US public notaries, so their identities are known and legal recourse against them can be taken in the offchain world. We also talk about the xDai network, which enables Dai transactions on a POA chain: Dai are transferred into a smart contract on the mainnet and then become available to be transferred at much lower cost on the POA Network. Similarly, they can be transferred out of the xDai network and become available again on the mainchain. We talk about use cases, governance, and limitations. Topics covered in this episode: Igor's background and how he got into blockchain The POA network setup and how to become a validator What informs design decisions and how to find suitable notaries The consensus mechanism on the POA Network The role of the POA token The xDai network and its purpose The role of the DPOS token Use cases of POA and xDai Networks Episode links: POA Network website POA products overview xDAI Chain POSDAO White paper Ocean Protocol releases own POA network Beginners guide: What's the POA network Sponsors: StarkWare Sessions: September 16th in Tel Aviv – 20% off with the code EPICENTER - https://epicenter.rocks/starkware Trail of Bits: Trust the team at the forefront of blockchain security research - https://trailofbits.com Vaultoro: Trade gold to Bitcoin instantly and securely starting at just 1mg - http://vaultoro.com This episode is hosted by Meher Roy & Friederike Ernst. In this week’s episode, we sit down with Igor Barinov (https://twitter.com/barinov) from POA Network and Austin Griffith (https://twitter.com/austingriffith) from Gitcoin Labs to discuss bridges, xDai - the new side-chain where DAI is the native token - and Austin's super simple Burner Wallet. Bridges are a wide topic and with this conversation we try to give some insight into what they are and how they work. We look at xDai as one concrete example of such a bridged side-chain and Austin talks about his burner wallet that can provide a super snappy nice UX thanks to running on this faster side-chain. In this week's episode, we sit down with Izaak Meckler & Evan Shapiro from O(1) Labs to discuss Coda, a blockchain using recursive composition of zkSNARKs to eliminate history. We discuss recursive zkSNARKs generally, what a recursive zkSNARK construction blockchain would look like, and the challenges in implementing this sophisticated scaling solution. Axie Infinity launches but Jon doesn't want to spend $20 to try it, James finds his retro gaming skills challenged in nTitle's Fury demo, Jon adds to his collection of wallets when he tries to play DopeRaider, (which now runs on the POA Network), and we compare our faux coin haul in our ongoing obsession with BitGuild's airdrop jumblesale app GuildChat.
In this episode, we sit down with Mitch Kosowski, director of product at ETHPrize and Andrew Cravenho, project leader at POA Network. We cover ETHPrize's inception and activity, the way that pain points in the community are identified, and the open source block explorer project that POA Network is building with an ETHPrize bounty. ETHPrize developed out of a series of interviews with devs in the community. Unlike traditional grants, ETHPrize aims to use bounties, sub-communities and working groups to tackle specific problems emerging in the ecosystem. ETHPrize is funded by 0x, Status, ECF, CoinbaseWallet and Ethereum Foundation and initialised by Robbie Bent and inspired by the findings in the ETHReport (https://ethreport.info/) Read more about the open source block explorer - https://medium.com/poa-network/introducing-blockscout-the-ethereum-explorer-86b4ddd9e8a4 Here are some additional links: * ETHPrize website (http://ethprize.io/) * Mitch's Twitter contact (https://twitter.com/mitch_kosowski) * Andrew's Twitter contact (https://twitter.com/cravenho_andrew) * POA Network website (https://poa.network/)

If they don't get it, they try 15 seconds later, then 30, then 60, then 120, then 240 etc. - They is actually based on probability - once a node goes down this starts firing and most of the time it happens on the first try, but it COULD go as high as 10 retrys in a very unlucky scenario which would be over 4 hours. - NEO is still centralized, and that's part of your tradeoff. - [Binance adding Ripple to their Trust Wallet.
