Let’s travel back to Clerks when Chris an Jeff talked with Doug and Jay from Rocky Minute about going to funeral.
Chris and Jeff of The Jay and Silent Bob Minute podcast join the team to watch the very first game of the AAGPBL. Welcome Jimmy Dugan! Oh, gross, Jimmy Dugan! Our Peaches stand up to hecklers and doubters (including their own coach) as they bond on the ballfield. Can the players overcome the inherent sexism of their society? Can our hosts and guests handle how gross stadium mens' bathrooms are? Time to find out so sit back, have a laugh with today's newsreel, and enjoy a cup of Helen's coffee as we start the 3rd inning!Music by Josh Kantor (@jtkantor on Twitter)Special thanks to Benjamin FrankartWe're on social media under our parent podcast series @vcrprivileges. You can find more infomation at onesteelesister.com/vcr-privileges. Be sure to visit us on Facebook by joining The Dugout with Dugan.
We've brought in a ringer: Jeff Ferry is here to tell us what it's REALLY like to be around military medical staff. He also has some valuable insight in to how to act around helicopters... Basically everything Houlihan's doing? Don't do that. Jeff traded in the inappropriate shenanigans of Mallrats (as part of The Jay and Silent Bob Minute podcast) to watch Robert Duvall play a Class A jerk as Burns enlists Boone's help in saving his patient.
The episode opens with the camera pulling back to show an exact replica of the town of Rock Ridge. The townsfolk and the railroad workers all begin to celebrate at their accomplishment. We then cut to Hedley Lamarr's camp where he is about to give a speech. We point out a big continuity error with the German soldiers. Hedley opens his speech about stamping runaway decency. He then reminds everyone that they are only risking their lives. He is risking an almost certain nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He then gets them to take the beginning of the pledge to himself. Our guests today are Doug Greenberg and Jason Hanes, hosts of Rocky Minute, which is a proud member of the Dueling Genre Production Network. Doug has also been a guest on Jay and Silent Bob Minute, Dark Knight Minute, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation Days and Austin Powers Minute. Doug is a lifelong resident of New Jersey and is married with two wonderful sons. He is an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan and former baseball player himself. Other than podcasting, his hobbies include jiu jitsu and weight lifting. Jason also lives in New Jersey, is married and has a son who likes to burst into podcast recording sessions and run rampant throughout the house. When he gets the chance, he likes to run along the beach in super-short shorts, hoping for a hug-fest in the waves with his best friend. Thank you so much for tuning into today's episode. Come back tomorrow for another exciting episode of the movie, Blazing Saddles. In the meantime, don't forget to give us a rating and leave us a comment on your pod-catcher of choice. We open still in the midst of the discussion over giving the railroad workers some land of their own. Olson Johnson decides they will give land to everybody. Suddenly, the divide between the two groups is filled as they join together with cheers and laughter. Reverend Johnson asks if they can complete their task in one night? Or are they just jerking off? The scene dissolves to the next day and we are outside of a miniature of the town of Rock Ridge. We then cut to a shot of them on Main Street. The shot is a fantastic, close-up dolly shot across the main players all admiring the work they have accomplished. We open the episode, continuing the scene in the middle of the prairie in the middle of the night. Howard Johnson asks how they plan to build a fake town? He tells Bart they don't have the time and they don't have the people. Bart tells him he is wrong just as the railroad workers show up. Howard asks who they are? Bart says, "Railroad workers!" He says they are willing to help and all they ask is a piece of land to call their own. The town is reluctant but initially agrees to all but the Irish. Unfortunately, Bart tells them, "No deal." We open the episode with Bart telling Charlie to say goodbye. As soon as Bart and Jim leave, Charlie begins to wake up the other railroad workers and tells them to start gathering supplies. The scene dissolves to an open area of prairie in the middle of the night. Bart addresses the folks of Rock Ridge. He says he knows they must want to know what they are doing out there in the middle of the night? In unison they all say, "You bet your a_s!" He's hip with them and then conveys his plan. They are going to build an exact replica of Rock Ridge overnight. The dart game continues in full force, with Dr. Frankenstein trying to use science to explain away superstitious nonsense. The irony about the conversation is Inspector Kemp points out that it was the prior residents of the castle who in fact used science to create their monsters. While the dart game itself might be silly, the back and forth debate is quite compelling. Joining us again on The Wilder Ride is Jeff Ferry of the Jay and Silent Bob Minute along with The Burbs Minute.
We continue today with Dr. Frankenstein beginning to choke the life out of Igor and just as we are about to play another round of charades, there is a booming knock on the castle door. Inspector Kemp has arrived for that little shat he promised the town elders he would conduct with the young Dr. Frankenstein. Joining for the first time on The Wilder Ride is Jeff Ferry of the Jay and Silent Bob Minute along with The Burbs Minute.
We discuss the alternate ending and we get a quick goodbye from all of our guests. Thanks for listening. Jay and Silent Bob Minute will return for Mallrats! Join our listener group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1487292897978451/
