Lisa celebrated 21 years sober and Tawny is coming up on 10 years of sobriety and life in New York City. Neither of them say they'll never drink again – they still take it one day at a time. They also talk about keeping things fresh in long-term sobriety. Let yourself try new things just for yourself. As Tawny tells her students, “feel free to write badly!” That goes for other things you enjoy or want to try like painting or playing piano. Whatever it is, just have fun doing it. In the 1 o'clock hour, Dom leads off the Dom Giordano Program by switching gears to the economy, discussing the negative impact of President Trump's Liberation Day. Dom plays back audio from Senator John Kennedy, who echoes Giordano's concern for the short term negative implications in the stock market. Then, Dom tells of a claim of racism made centered around the game of baseball. At 1:30, Dom welcomes Deputy Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy Communications Director Alex Pfeiffer onto the Dom Giordano Program to take us inside the White House, behind the scenes after Trump's Liberation Day announcement. Pfeiffer comments on the negative media bias surrounding Trump's announcement, and explains why, although the short term may be tough, the retaliatory tariffs will ultimately benefit all Americans.

Hi Beloved. There is NO DOUBT we are on the cusp of an economic tail wind, shifting into the ecosystem of “Sound Money” through transparency. TRUE CONFESSION: I purchased Bitcoin in 2011, and 5 years later, sold due to it's scandal in the dark web and child trafficking (proven). XRP? Yes please. You're about to learn why. KASS. Digital assets? That's not your vibe. Glad you asked. It actually VERY MUCH is my vibe as an avid economic student. I will be dropping in here and there with foundational education for us to come around the table, learn from and ultimately support you in understanding your options as we move from one decline to the greatest incline in history. This may not make any sense to you - but I suggest listening and letting your subconscious mind to take it in, so when this does hit peak, you have some insights that will remove fear and embody greater understanding. This video features my Friend Rob Dunningham and Kyle. READY? Let's break down the tech stacks behind the emerging digital asset ecosystem. There's a lot of nuance and legal precedent that's important to understand. On one side, we have Bitcoin - the mysterious crypto that's been hyped relentlessly by the media for 16 years. But what does it really do? Payments? Smart contracts? Scalability? Efficiency? Then there's Ethereum - the smart contract platform invested in by CCP-linked entities, JP Morgan, etc. Its founder Vitalik Buterin even crashed on the couch of Ripple's early CTO.And let's talk about Tether - the offshore, unaudited stablecoin whose magical printing seems to prop up Bitcoin's price. Suspicious much?On the other hand, you have Ripple and XRP. XRP has clear legal definition as a virtual currency, not a security. It has real-world use cases, efficiency, and transparency that the others lack.Ripple built on top of the open-source XRP Ledger, similar to how Red Hat built on Linux. This allows interoperability, smart contracts, tokenization, and more across the crypto ecosystem. The key is the XRP token - it acts as the "motor oil" enabling fast, low-cost value transfer between any two parties or ledgers. It's the glue that binds this entire system together. With the RLUSD stablecoin backed 1:1 by reserves and XRP required for all transactions, this seems to be the digital dollar framework envisioned by Trump to keep the USD dominant. The legal clarity, real-world use cases, and technology behind Ripple/XRP make it stand out in this space. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. What are your thoughts on the future of digital assets?Thank you to Rob and Captain Kyle. We appreciate your ruthless research, leadership and timeWhere we go one- we go all. Love, Kassandra. PS: Share with a friend. And….follow my X Threads for the most recent real world shifts. Batman Forever, Sidste Time, Heat, Tank Girl, Desperado, Se7en, Friday og Waiting To Exhale. Playliste: Björk – Army of me Diana King – Shy guy Bryan Adams – Have you ever really loved a woman PJ Harvey – Down by the water Dr. Dre – Keep their heads ringin' U2 – Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me Seal – Kiss from a rose Vanessa Williams – Colors of the wind Søs Fenger – Sidste time Jill Sobule – Supermodel Coolio feat. L.V. – Gangsta's paradise Los Lobos & Antonio Banderas – Canción del Mariachi (Morena de Mi Corazón) David Bowie – The hearts filthy lesson No Doubt – You can do it Tina Turner – Goldeneye Randy Newman – You've got a friend in me Moby – God moving over the face of the waters Whitney Houston – Exhale (Shoop shoop)
Colorado color analyst Gary Barnett joined Baskin and Phelps to share his insight on both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. He talked about whether or not he thought Hunter could be a two-way player in the NFL, why he doesn't think the criticisms of Sanders' personality hold water, and whether or not he thinks Deion Sanders would want to be a coach in the NFL.

On this episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll, we're jumping in our musical memory machine and going back 30 years to 1995. Rock and roll still ruled the charts and alternative music was still a thing. We got great albums from Alice in Chains, No Doubt, Mad Season, Oasis, Ozzy, and White Zombie. SIlverchair, the Foo Fighters, the Deftones, Jewel, Radiohead, Alanis Morissette, and Garbage all released their debut albums. TLC warned us against chasing Waterfalls. Coolio was living in a gangsta's paradise, and groups also released a handful of songs that we still hear today: Hey Man Nice Shot, Peaches, and those songs by Spacehog, Better Than Ezra, Elastica. Several members of the Wu Tang Clan released solo albums. R&B kinda sucked with a few exceptions. And there was weird stuff like the Macarena, Scatman John, and Cotton Eye Joe were on the radio. In episode 65 of the podcast I speak with the incredibly talented Chilean-American multi intrumentalist and producer - Alain Johannes. Easily one of my favorite musicians, Alain and has had an amazing music career working with artists like Queens Of The Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys, No Doubt and late greats Chris Cornell and Mark Lanegan. He also had an amazing debut into the 'band scene' along side numerous eventual Red Hot Chili Peppers members called "What Is This" and eventually went on to form and co-lead the amazing band 'Eleven' alongside his very talented wife Natasha Shneider until her unfortunate passing. We talk the Sound City players, Desert Sessions, engineering, production, songwriting, band life and so much more, check it out.For more on Alain, his story and his music, please visit - www.alainjohannes.comFor more on Travis Marc or the Musicians Mentor, please visit - www.musicians-mentor.comFor our partnership with the lovely folks over at Soundbrenner, please visit - https://www.soundbrenner.com/pages/affiliate-travis-marc
In this conversation, John Dominguez, co-founder and chief strategist of Songbird Collective, discusses his extensive background in music and his initiative within the Metaverse aimed at creating immersive and collaborative environments for artists. Songbird Collective has facilitated over 1000 live concerts in the Metaverse, allowing artists to showcase their work, even during the pandemic when live music was largely inaccessible. The initiative has also opened new revenue streams for musicians through NFTs and virtual performances, providing a unique and innovative way to engage with global audiences. He recalls the exciting early days of music exploration via the internet in the mid-90s, highlighting moments when he discovered influential music essays and participated in emerging online music communities. One of his notable memories includes attending his first concert, an NWA show in 1989, where he experienced both the thrill and cultural impact of live hip-hop music. He reminisces about various concert experiences, including attending Kings of Leon at Johnny Depp's Viper Room and the Troubadour in Los Angeles, and describes the unique atmosphere of historical music venues. He also recalls his experience attending the Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1996.Dominguez also values personal interactions with musicians, sharing stories about his early online exchanges and meetings with avant-garde musicians Nels Cline and Joe Baiza. Despite the modern shift towards digital music consumption, Dominguez advocates for the irreplaceable magic of live performances and encourages music enthusiasts to support local independent shows. In wrapping up, he stresses how vital it is for fans to support smaller live music venues, highlighting how these spaces provide essential platforms for artists and memorable experiences for audiences. Dominguez's dedication to music culture and innovation through Songbird Collective exemplifies the evolving landscape of live music and virtual experiences.BANDS: Aerosmith, Beastie Boys, Ben Steller, Creeper Lagoon, Dr. Dre, Fontaine's DC, Ice Cube, Jet, John Lee Hooker, Killers, Kings of Leon, Mud Honey, New Jack's Swing, No Doubt, NWA, Oasis, On the Speakers, Ornette Coleman, Pavement, Pixies, Porno for Pyros, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Stooges, Tribe Called QuestVENUES: Celebrity Theater, Constellation Room, Castaic Lake, El Rancho Grande, Johnny Depp's Viper Room, Observatory, Rainbow, Roxy, Salt Shed, Troubadour, Mr. T's Bowl PATREON:https://www.patreon.com/SeeingThemLivePlease help us defer the cost of producing this podcast by making a donation on Patreon.WEBSITE:https://seeingthemlive.com/Visit the Seeing Them Live website for bonus materials including the show blog, resource links for concert buffs, photos, materials related to our episodes, and our Ticket Stub Museum.INSTAGRAM:https://www.instagram.com/seeingthemlive/FACEBOOK:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550090670708

Is 'Spirit Of Eden', the fourth studio album by British band Talk Talk, a deceptively understated masterpiece or an indulgent musical experiment gone awry? Rob and this week's returning guest Tom Lawery fall decidedly in the former camp. Released in 1988, the record is now often cited as the precursor to later so-called 'post-rock' albums by bands like Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Low and latter-period Radiohead. A year in its creation, painstakingly assembled from improvised performances that draw on elements of jazz, ambient, classical music, blues and dub, it's an album that ultimately rewards the deep-listen it requires. Songs discussed in this episode: The Rainbow, Talk Talk, April 5th, Life's What You Make It - Talk Talk; It's My Life (Talk Talk cover) - No Doubt; East Hastings - Godspeed You! Black Emperor; No Face, No Name, No Number - Traffic; The BEATen Generation - The The; The Rainbow - Talk Talk; Teen Age Riot - Sonic Youth; Eden - Talk Talk; Heroin - The Velvet Underground; Desire, Inheritance - Talk Talk; I'm Flying - The Shits; Do Anything You Wanna Do - Eddie and the Hot Rods; I Believe In You, Wealth - Talk Talk; The Watershed - Mark Hollis; I Believe In You (Talk Talk cover) - S. On this episode of Rebel Rockers with Native Wayne, we honor Sublime, the groundbreaking rock reggae trio from Long Beach. Blending punk, reggae, and hip-hop, Bradley Nowell, Eric Wilson, and Bud Gaugh crafted a sound that redefined music, with hits like "Date Rape" sparking their meteoric rise. Sublime's legacy endures through Sublime with Rome and the next generation led by Bradley's son, Jacob. Their DIY ethos and soulful authenticity created a timeless influence on music. Sublime inspired artists like No Doubt's Gwen Stefani, Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, and Michael Franti. Their genre-defying music, led by Bradley's unique voice and powerful songwriting, remains a blueprint for rock reggae bands like Stick Figure and Rebelution. From underground gigs to chart-topping hits, Sublime's story is a testament to their artistry and the Long Beach roots that shaped them. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Musician and storyteller Matt Costa joins us on the pod. Matt dives into his creative process, collaborating with filmmakers like Devyn Bisson on WSL's ‘As Told By' series produced in partnership with YETI, working with Jack Johnson and Emmett Malloy on the film A Brokedown Melody, and his latest project with Adventure.com and Rivian, Explorations of Sight + Sound. Matt shares his fascinating journey, how growing up with parents in the travel industry and a passion for skateboarding shaped his early years. After a life-altering injury sidelined his skateboarding dreams, an acoustic guitar became the catalyst for a new path in music. He talks about adjusting to life on the road, reflecting on the mentorship he received from No Doubt's Tom Dumont, his serendipitous break with Jack Johnson, and the evolution of crafting songs in the studio to embodying them on stage. From making music in caves to documenting indigenous stories on 16mm film to live scoring films, Matt delves into the art of creating immersive experiences, before answering Instagram questions and the infamous Lightning Round.
