Es geht wieder so richtig zur Sache im Gemischtwarenladen, denn zur Feier des Tages stürzen wir uns wieder in die Welt der Actionstars der 80's und 90's. In der mittlerweile dritten Folge dieser Serie kümmern wir uns um die Actiondarstellerin schlechthin in diesem Zeitraum, die leider bei all den Stallones, Schwanzeneggers und Van Dammes nie den großen Durchbruch schaffte, der sie weltweit auf die große Leinwand brachte, sondern nur in die Videotheken, wo sie mit einer Vielzahl von Titeln sich die Namen Lady Dragon, Queen Of The B-Movies bzw. Queen Of Martial Arts erarbeitete. Die Rede ist von Cynthia Rothrock, deren Karriere und Filmografie wir uns mal genauer anschauen werden. Das ist aber noch nicht alles, denn zusätzlich besprechen wir noch die Cannon Kultfilmreihe "American Ninja" mit Michael Dudikoff, Steve James und David Bradley, die hier als "American Fighter" bekannt ist und sich damals mit den Streifen von Rothrock ins Gedächtnis unseres heutigen Geburtstagskindes eingebrannt haben und seitdem von ihm nie vergessen wurden.Und wenn hier schon ein wenig gefeiert wird, dann darf eine Sache natürlich nicht fehlen und das ist Musik. Sun Ark, the name that Cameron Stallones has given to his record label, is most likely derived from the synthesis of two mythical stories: Black Ark, the Jamaican recording studio built and owned by reggae and dub producer Lee Perry, and Sun Ra, the afro-american free-jazz-cosmic composer. Although the Californian label leaded by Stallones — also known for his artistic alias Sun Araw — is undoubtedly not devoted to reggae-dub and neither to free-jazz, but for sure derived its experimental, freak, curious and avant-garde approach to its predecessors. Geneva Jacuzzi is well known for her uncompromisingly obtuse synth-driven pop and one-of-a-kind performance art that is comprised of one time only spectacles and installations. Sylvester Stallone og Wesley Snipes står ansigt til ansigt i Demolition Man, en episk actionfilm som efter vores mening, er i blandt Stallones bedste. Den er lidt rascitisk, lidt dum og 100% awesome. Strap in - afsnittet er lige over to timer, SÅ meget elsker vi den her film. En lille advarsel til folk med svage sjæle - vi snakker en del om at knalde på en øde ø, ikke med kvinder men med hinanden. Hver gang vi skal i gang med at producere en After Dark, tænker vi, "Hvorfor er det SÅ lang tid siden, vi sidste lavede en After Dark???". Når vi så er færdige med at producere den, tænker vi, "DERFOR!" Det er hårdt og voldsomt tidskrævende arbejde, men måske netop derfor, er det også de podcasts, der er mest givende for os at lave, og denne nr. 9 af slagsen har vist sig ikke at være en undtagelse. First Blood er en film, som du nok mener er ret enkel, og du tager ikke fejl. Så hvordan har Hjørnet præsteret, at fylde fire timer (og meget mere) ud med snak kun om denne Stallone-klassiker fra 1982?  Det har vi gjort ved ikke kun at snakke "ind" i filmen, men også "ud" af den. Vi går altså både i detaljer med filmens tilblivelse, indhold og analyse af samme, men vi perspektiverer også filmen i dens samtid og udforsker dens temaer gennem historiske og sociologiske briller. Kronjuvelen denne gang er af en ganske unik slags. First Blood ér en actionfilm, men den handler først og fremmest om en soldat med PTSD, der har svært ved at finde mening med sit liv og ender med at rase ud i frustration over samfundets mangel på forståelse.  For at bringe denne historie helt tæt på os og dig, har vi snakket med en dansk veteran, der absolut ikke har haft det let efter at have deltaget i flere krige i Kosovo og Afghanistan. Det er et tungt interview, der naturligvis hjælper med at forstå folk i hans situation, men derudover bringer det forhåbentlig også forståelse for, hvorfor First Blood er meget mere end bare en 80'er-actionfilm. Vi bringer også et interview af en helt anden slags. Filmnørdens Hjørnes superfan Christian Thomsen er nemlig den største Stallone-fan og -ekspert vi kender. Derfor har vi ringet til ham, for at høre om Stallones rolle som den muskuløse kriger, og hvad den betød for ham. Men der er meget mere. Vores personlige forhold til Rambo-figuren og filmen First Blood. Et detaljeret handlingsreferat. En snak om de største spillere foran og bag kameraet. Hvis man så også havde Sylvester Stallone med, ja, så kunne man ikke få armene ned. I 1993 skete miraklet: de to actionhelte indspillede scifi-actionfilmen "Demolition Man", hvor Snipes var skurken og Stallone var helten. Mange filmnørder har stiftet bekendtskab med denne film på VHS, hvor den blev afspillet igen og igen. Enkelte filmnørder har også brugt meget tid på at pause sex-scenen lige præcis det rigtige sted for at se om det virkelig var Sandra Bullock.
