Send us a textWelcome back to DMRWrestling icon Hulk Hogan, born Terry Bollea in 1953, skyrocketed to global fame in the 1980s as the face of WWF's golden era. From his legendary showdown with André the Giant at WrestleMania III to starring in Rocky III and headlining Hogan Knows Best, Hogan blended sports entertainment with pop culture like no one else. His larger-than-life persona, catchphrases like “Whatcha gonna do, brother?” and his role in launching the nWo in WCW cemented him as a true disruptor in the wrestling industry. Hogan also broke the mold as a crossover celebrity, starring in films like No Holds Barred and Suburban Commando, all while battling in-ring legends like Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, and The Rock. His second WWE Hall of Fame induction in 2020 as part of the nWo was a full-circle moment, marking a legacy that defined the modern wrestling narrative. But behind the spotlight was a man facing mounting personal and health challenges. A highly publicized scandal in 2015 led to his WWE exit and the loss of key endorsements, though he later returned amid controversy. In his final years, Hogan underwent over 25 surgeries, battled blood cancer, and dealt with strained family ties—all while trying to launch a new wrestling league, Real American Freestyle. Tragically, on July 24, 2025, he passed away at age 71 following a cardiac arrest, with atrial fibrillation and leukemia contributing to his death. Yet even in his final moments, Hogan stayed focused on his next big idea. Tributes poured in across the world, and Florida officially declared August 1st Hulk Hogan Day. Love him or hate him, Hulk Hogan was a content machine, a branding genius, and a viral force who redefined what it meant to be a wrestling superstar in the age of spectacle.Support the showThe audio clips used in this podcast, including excerpts from movie/series/documentary trailers, are used under the principles of fair use and fair dealing for the purpose of criticism, commentary, and review. Marc and Kim run through a rapid-fire “In Other News” segment packed with headlines and hot takes. First up: confusion around Hulk Hogan's “death” is cleared up—he's not dead. (It was likely a mistake, as Hogan is still alive.) Still, the crew discusses what would've been his cause of death if true: a heart attack complicated by AFib and leukemia, with a nod to his iconic moment in Rocky III (not II) against Stallone. Next, the group reacts to jaw-dropping footage from Saudi Arabia, where an amusement park ride snapped in half, injuring 23 but miraculously killing no one. Marc blasts lax safety and carnival rides, vowing to keep his kids off them forever. Then it's back to sports as WNBA viewership jumps 21%, even with Caitlin Clark sidelined. Marc isn't buying the media's spin that it's “not all about Caitlin.” He says flat out: She's the reason people tuned in. Kim compares it to a binge-worthy show—you come for Caitlin, but stay to see what wild thing Angel Reese says next. Elsewhere, Justin Timberlake reveals he's battling Lyme disease, explaining his lackluster stage performances and growing fan frustration. Kim sympathizes but says the videos make it look like he's just mailing it in. The segment wraps with a jab at how AI is taking over health management, with 35% of Americans now using it to track meals, fitness, and wellness—Marc and Kim warn, don't turn your brain off just because a bot tells you to run into a wall.

We can get one thing out of the way right up top: James DeMonaco is from Staten Island. Seeing Rocky Balboa on the big screen as a kid was mind-blowing; seeing Sylvester Stallone take a story of such a familiar kind of guy and make it into an Oscar-winning mega-franchise for the ages was life-altering. While DeMonaco is best known for his stealthily political horror films, his love of Rocky even made it into a coming-of-age project called THIS IS THE NIGHT, set around the release of ROCKY III. He and Jordan get into the importance of seeing a familiar milieu on screen, and get into the motivation behind DeMonaco's current film, THE HOME, a psychological horror movie starring Pete Davidson, set at an eldercare facility. Then, Jordan has one quick thing about the new Netflix series HUNTING WIVES. Feeling Seen is hosted by Jordan Crucchiola and is a production Maximum Fun.Need more Feeling Seen? Keep up with the show on Instagram and Bluesky.

RUNDOWN Episode 344 of Mitch Unfiltered opens with a humorous lament over the nonexistence of a 344 area code and quickly shifts into cultural reflection—from Morgan Wallen's massive Seattle shows to a heartfelt tribute to late jazz musician Chuck Mangione. Mitch and Hotshot Scott marvel at Ichiro Suzuki's eloquent, humorous, and emotional Hall of Fame speech, calling it mesmerizing and long overdue. Mitch and Hotshot dig into the Mariners' playoff hopes and trade deadline calculus. They debate the potential impact of acquiring Gino Suarez—Seattle fan favorite and current Diamondbacks slugger—and analyze Josh Naylor's recent addition to the lineup. Investment advisor and father of four, John Wasnock of North Bend, WA, stunned the poker world by finishing second in the 2025 World Series of Poker Main Event, earning a $6 million prize. A lifelong poker hobbyist and devoted Mariners fan, Wasnock's dream run began as a bucket-list entry and ended in financial freedom — allowing him and his wife to retire and focus on family. Despite losing a pivotal hand on the river, Wasnock played with composure and integrity, becoming a beloved underdog in the process. Brady Farkas joins Mitch Unfiltered to reflect on Ichiro Suzuki's powerful, funny, and fully English Hall of Fame speech in Cooperstown—calling it the best he's heard. Despite the celebratory weekend, the Mariners' on-field play disappointed, as they went 3–4 and squandered chances to gain ground in the playoff race. Trade deadline buzz surrounds players like Luke Raley and Geno Suarez, while Julio Rodríguez and Cal Raleigh give fans reasons to stay hopeful. Mitch and Jason Puckett (aka "Puck") dive into Chapter 10 of KJAren'ts, with plenty of laughs and commentary. Mitch shares how cohost Hotshot Scott somehow always has the perfect contact—including a North Bend native who just won $6 million as runner-up at the World Series of Poker. They also unpack the Seahawks' surprise release of Noah Fant and speculate on Seattle's thin wide receiver room heading into the season. The latest episode of the First Black Champ Podcast delves into the multifaceted legacy of Hulk Hogan, tracing his rise from wrestling icon to polarizing figure. Born Terry Gene Bollea in 1953, Hogan's career began under various personas before exploding in the WWF during the "Hulkamania" era. His patriotic persona and WrestleMania appearances made him a 12-time world champion and a household name. Hogan also ventured into Hollywood with roles in Rocky III and other films, as well as hosting a cartoon series. His WCW tenure saw him turn heel as "Hollywood" Hogan, co-founding the influential nWo faction. Despite accolades like two WWE Hall of Fame inductions, Hogan's legacy is clouded by personal scandals, including a lawsuit over a leaked sex tape and racist remarks that temporarily severed ties with WWE. In later years, he embraced sobriety, faith, and business ventures, while becoming politically vocal. Hogan passed away on July 24, 2025, at age 71, leaving a legacy that transformed pro wrestling into a global phenomenon, albeit with controversy. The episode also previews the stacked SummerSlam card, featuring marquee matches like Gunther vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship, John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes in a Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship, and a massive 6-team TLC match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Other highlights include Becky Lynch defending the Women's Intercontinental Championship in a No DQ match and Naomi facing Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY in a triple-threat bout. In the "Do We Care" segment, the hosts discuss Goldberg's frustrations over his retirement match, rumors of a potential AEW run, and Travis Scott reportedly stepping away from WWE. They also question whether Damien Priest has lost momentum compared to Drew McIntyre and react to AJ Styles' return to TNA. This episode is packed with wrestling insights, nostalgia, and hot takes!

pWotD Episode 3005: Hulk Hogan Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 3,037,191 views on Thursday, 24 July 2025 our article of the day is Hulk Hogan.Terry Gene Bollea (; August 11, 1953 – July 24, 2025), better known by his ring name Hulk Hogan, was an American professional wrestler. He was best known for his work with WWE and World Championship Wrestling. Known for his flamboyance and massive physique, and his trademark blond horseshoe moustache and bandanas, Hogan was widely regarded as the most recognized wrestling star worldwide, the most popular wrestler of the 1980s and one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.Hogan began his professional wrestling career in 1977, but gained worldwide recognition after signing with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in December 1983. There, his persona as a heroic all-American helped usher in the 1980s professional wrestling boom, where he headlined eight of the first nine editions (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9) of the WWF's flagship annual event WrestleMania. Hogan also was a regular headliner of Saturday Night's Main Event and its spin-off The Main Event. During his initial run, he was a five-time WWF Champion, with his 1,474-day reign being the longest of the WrestleMania era ever. He was the first wrestler to win consecutive Royal Rumble matches, winning in 1990 and 1991. His match with André the Giant on WWF The Main Event on February 5, 1988, still holds American television viewership records for wrestling with a 15.2 Nielsen TV rating and 33 million viewers. In 1993, Hogan departed the WWF to pursue a career in film and television. He was lured back to the ring when he signed with rival promotion World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1994. He won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six times, and holds the record for the longest reign. In 1996, he underwent a career renaissance upon adopting the villainous persona of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, leading the popular New World Order (nWo) stable. As a result, he became a major figure during the "Monday Night War", another boom of mainstream professional wrestling. He headlined WCW's annual flagship event Starrcade three times (in 1994, 1996, and 1997), in which the 1997 edition was the most profitable WCW pay-per-view in the company's history.Hogan returned to the WWF in 2002 following its acquisition of WCW the prior year, winning the Undisputed WWF Championship for his record equaling (for the time) sixth reign before departing in 2003. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, and inducted a second time in 2020 as a member of the nWo. Hogan also performed for the American Wrestling Association (AWA), where he headlined the inaugural AWA closed circuit supercard, Super Sunday in 1983, New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) – where he was the inaugural winner of the original IWGP Heavyweight Championship – and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).During and after wrestling, Hogan had an extensive acting career, beginning with his role in the sports drama film Rocky III (1982). He starred in several other films (including No Holds Barred, Suburban Commando, and Mr. Nanny) and three television shows (Hogan Knows Best, Thunder in Paradise, and China, IL), as well as in Right Guard commercials and the video game Hulk Hogan's Main Event (2011). He was the frontman for the Wrestling Boot Band, whose sole record, Hulk Rules, reached No. 12 on the Billboard Top Kid Audio chart in 1995.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 01:36 UTC on Friday, 25 July 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Hulk Hogan on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Jasmine.

You'll believe a man can sigh as Supergeeks Javi, Paul and - indestructibly - Producer Brad discover the third time's not the charm with Superman III, though it does offer one unforgettable high-concept scene (and a truly funny setup and payoff). Our hosts boldly bend format this episode by picking three scenes each to examine (one of which may or may not involve bowling vandalism via Super-sneeze) as they struggle to maintain their sanity against the artificial Kryptonite of this threequel's seemingly never-ending inanities. In stark contrast to the wonders that Rocky III rewarded us with by adding iconic adversary Mr. T (as recounted in our very first episode!), here we get Superman vs. Supercomputer (that's an Atari) as programming prodigy Richard Pryor is extorted into villainy by evil tycoon Robert Vaughn. Despite their combined talents (and a psychic nutritionist stand-in for Miss Teschmacher), they are no Lex Luthor, just as director Richard Lester is no Richard Donner (and composer Ken Thorne is no John Williams). Still, while Margot Kidder's Lois Lane is conspicuously sidelined for most of the film, we're treated to Annette O'Toole's lovely Lana Lang, and Christopher Reeve gets to play a creepy, scuzzy new character (Man of Heel?). You will not believe a man can ski off a skyscraper and survive, but you will enjoy this episode full of love for Superman and our hosts' entertaining exasperation at this misguided misfire. 1983 Box OfficeJuly 8, 1983 Weekend Box OfficeSuperman III Box Office ResultsRichard Pryor's 1981 appearance on The Tonight Show displaying his Superman fandom.Follow us!InstagramBlueskyemail: Multiplexoverthruster@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. From sending audition tapes to Metallica and The Rolling Stones to becoming one of wrestling's most iconic figures, Hulk Hogan's journey through entertainment spans nearly five decades of unexpected twists and reinventions. In this deeply personal conversation, the 71-year-old WWE Hall of Famer pulls back the curtain on his early years, revealing how he transitioned from playing bass guitar six nights a week in southeastern clubs to wrestling as "The Super Destroyer" for just $25 a match. Hogan shares surprising stories about living in his van on Pensacola Beach, quitting wrestling multiple times to work as a longshoreman, and how Vince McMahon Sr. gave him the name that would change pop culture forever. The wrestling legend divulges shocking behind-the-scenes details about his breakthrough role as Thunderlips in Rocky III – including how he negotiated his $14,000 payment with Sylvester Stallone and subsequently got fired from the WWF for taking the part. Even more surprising is his revelation about the famous 1984 Madison Square Garden match against the Iron Sheik, where a competing promoter allegedly offered the Sheik $100,000 to legitimately break Hogan's leg.Beyond the nostalgic wrestling tales, Hogan speaks candidly about his spiritual journey, describing how he's found peace through faith after the physical toll of ten back surgeries and countless other injuries from his wrestling career. Now running Hogan's Hangout in Tampa and promoting his Real American Beer, he reflects on the profound impact his character had on generations of fans worldwide.Whether you grew up watching Hulkamania run wild or simply appreciate stories of perseverance and reinvention, this conversation offers a rare glimpse into the man behind the 24-inch pythons. The big screen, the small screen, radio, home video, and even our toy shelves; in the 1980s, he was everywhere. From his early days as a bouncer, to protecting some of the most famous people in the world, this larger-than-life figure soon became one of the most recognizable people of the time. He was born Laurence Tureaud, but the world would soon get to know him as Mr. T, a man who became a true Icon in every sense of the word.

Estuvo nominada. Pero no ganó la ...

We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. What better way to kick things off than where it all began? Here's a look back at episode one and our conversation with Jim Peterik. ABOUT JIM PETERIKSinger, songwriter, guitarist, and keyboardist Jim Peterik is best known as a founding member of the band Survivor and the co-writer of their Grammy-winning double platinum #1 hit single, “Eye of the Tiger.” But that's only the tip of the iceberg. Thirty-five of Jim's songs have appeared on the Billboard Pop chart, including seven Top 10 singles. His first major success came when his original band, Ides of March, took the Peterik-penned “Vehicle” to the #2 position on the Pop chart in 1970, spawning cover versions by Chet Baker and Shirley Bassey. After a stint as a solo artist with Epic Records, Jim formed Survivor in 1979, penning a string of hits for the band, including “I Can't Hold Back,” “High On You,” “The Search is Over,” “Burning Heart,” and “Is This Love.” While still writing hits for his own group, Jim forged a successful partnership with the members of 38 Special, co-writing classic songs, including “Rockin' Into the Night,” “Hold On Loosely,” and “Caught Up In You.” Widely respected as a top-notch collaborator, Jim has co-written successful songs with a number of artists, including the Beach Boys, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sammy Hagar, Cheap Trick, the Doobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Mindi Abair. The long list of those who have covered his compositions includes Paul Anka, Gloria Gaynor, Tony Orlando, Reba McEntire, Larry Gatlin, Blackhawk, and The Outlaws. He is the co-author, with Dave Austin, of Songwriting for Dummies.

Rocky Balboa fans went the distance—by bus, on ice skates, by 72 steps—to honor Philly's favorite fictional fighter almost 50 years after the first movie launched the enduring series of an underdog boxer persevering despite the odds. The city Rocky called home at last has a week dedicated to the box office heavyweight champion of the world, more than a year after the inaugural Rocky Day was held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps. RockyFest officially opened on December 3, when the second cast of the Rocky statue was unveiled at the top of the Rocky steps—where the original was featured in Rocky III—and remained there through December 31. Dozens of students ran up the steps to kick off the event. Patricia Todisco, a visitor from New York City, said she is a huge Rocky fan. Even though it's a fictional story, the movie has inspired her in life and deepened her love for Philadelphia as a city. Azra Hayer traveled from England to see her daughter who's studying in the city. She said that when foreign visitors think of Philadelphia, they think of Rocky. But she hopes the festival will show everyone that there's a lot more to the city. Eli Shaika runs Rowhome Coffee, a café located in the Kensington area of Philadelphia where the film was shot. He feels that the people of Philadelphia resonate with Rocky and have adopted the character's underdog mentality. The Philadelphia Visitors Center hatched RockyFest—which ran through December 8—in part for an overdue appreciation of the series as well as connecting locals and tourists to movie sites beyond the bronze statue. RockyFest events include a mural unveiling, movie marathons, RockyU discussions on the enduring appeal of Stallone's most famous character, look-alike contests and even a bus tour. With Rocky III, director-screenwriter-star Stallone takes the film series into a new direction, although the underdog formula still stays intact. Stallone realizes that it's hard to be the underdog when you're the champion, so to knock Rocky down a few notches, he creates the most terrifying challenger he never faced, the bruising #1 contender, Clubber Lang (Mr. T). Lang has been stalking the ready-to-retire Balboa, showing up at every match and public appearance, egging the champ on to stop dodging him and fight him in the ring. Rocky is ready to take him up on the challenge, but his manager Mickey (Burgess Meredith) reveals that he has been protecting him since he's gotten the title belt, only challenging chumps Rocky could easily beat. Undeterred, Rocky still goes ahead with the match, losing the title and his manager in the process. Can Rocky face retiring as a loser, or will he rise to the most difficult challenge he's faced yet with a rematch?
