Goodness…what a great word! When Moses wanted to see God, the Lord said He was going to have His “goodness” pass in front of him. I wonder when we pass in front of people, do they sense His goodness as well? This message will look at what it means to be a “good” person. Someone whose presence reminds others of God!
This Sunday, we had the privilege of hearing from our dear friend, Samson Latchison. Samson preached a powerful message on goodness as a fruit of the Spirit - out of Galatians 5:22-23 and Psalm 34:8. Be wildly encouraged by the Lord's goodness in the midst of it all.
First Church of New Knoxville, Ohio
This week on Tell Me More, host Katy sits down with Curt and Ashley Berryhill to unpack the fruit of the Spirit "Goodness"—the sixth stop in a nine-week series through Galatians 5:22-23. The conversation traces the word from the Hebrew tov in Genesis (where God calls His creation "good") to agathosune, a term the Apostle Paul appears to have coined by fusing the Greek word for "good" with a suffix meaning "intimately knit together." Using Barnabas—Scripture's "son of encouragement"—as a case study, Kurt explores how real goodness isn't about staying clean and uninvolved; it risks, protects, and proclaims, showing up in messy, no-win situations on behalf of other people. They also connect goodness to restoration, discipleship, and what it looks like to raise kids who bear good fruit rather than just "healthy" lives. Before diving into the theology, the team catches listeners up on a busy summer of ministry: 41 students serving at the Texas border with Texans on Mission, a small team encountering God's work among refugee communities in Southeast Asia, college students serving a church plant in Denver, and international partners visiting from Spain, Sierra Leone, and beyond. Ashley also shares an update on the church's growing pathway of student mission trips. The episode wraps with a teaser for next week's study on Faithfulness through the life of Mary Magdalene, plus details on Summer Clusters (women's Bible studies) starting soon. In Galatians 5, Paul lists goodness as one of the fruits of the Spirit—but this isn't just about being nice. In today's episode of the C3 podcast, Pastor Dan Holland shows how biblical goodness is active, sacrificial, and rooted in God's own character. When we stay connected to the Spirit, goodness naturally flows from our lives into the lives of others. Live to give, strong words from a faithful man of God. It is made clear in Scripture that the world will know us by the fruits we produce which is a reflection of our heart. What is a true sign of this? Our ability to be good to one another, even those who wrong us, and the consistency to which we do it (faithfulness). We hope this message blesses you this week. Join me today as I explore the biblical attribute of goodness. It should be a fruit of the Holy Spirit living through us so that in a fallen world, we may live out God's excellent goodness so that others may have a picture of what God's excellent character is like.
God is good. Your circumstances may try to convince you otherwise, but the Bible is clear on this matter. The lie that God is not good will lead you away from God. But the restoration of the truth that God is good will draw you near. Listen/watch this message and have your faith restored in the goodness of God. James 1:17; Luke 10:25-37

What does it mean to "be good?" Whose rules are you supposed to follow? What if I haven't followed the rules?

In this message, Pastor Maggie Wakefield teaches on the Fruit of the Spirit: Goodness, drawing from Exodus 33 and Galatians 5. She emphasizes that goodness is not merely kindness or good intentions, but God's own character—His moral excellence, generosity, and righteousness. Just as Moses pleaded for God's presence and glory, believers today are called to pursue daily encounters with God, because abiding in Him is the only way to bear spiritual fruit. Goodness is a choice, expressed through generosity, justice, and truth, and it reflects God's glory to the world.
