Two-time Emmy and three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald, interviewed Dr. Tiffany Bussey. As the Morehouse Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (MIEC) Founding Director, Dr. Tiffany Bussey stands at the helm of profit-yielding partnerships bridging the gap between the supplier diversity initiatives at global brands and multi-million-dollar Black and brown businesses. An engaging dialogue with Dr. Bussey around the ways MIEC creates unique pathways to help minority businesses scale using what she calls the three Cs: Capital, Connections, and Contracts. Here are some of the interview highlights: MIEC's engagement with 400 scalable, mid-size minority-owned businesses has been instrumental in creating 850 new Atlanta-based jobs, granting access to $34 million in new capital, and generating nearly $82 million in new revenue growth. MIEC's unique business education prepares minority business owners to obtain contracts with large firms seeking business-to-business partnerships with small to mid-size businesses. Atlanta is one of four national accelerator locations for The Clean Tech Infrastructure Academy at Goodwill, a new 4-week program designed to grow the electric vehicle workforce. At the academy, student workers are paid $15 an hour to learn how to install and maintain EV chargers, heat pumps, and solar panels. This training equips them for jobs in the growing electric vehicle industry, where maintenance techs can start earning $30 per hour. About MIEC: · Since its inception, MIEC has garnered over $50 million in grants and contracts and positively impacted over 2,100 students. · MIEC incorporates a holistic approach to supporting the business leaders it serves, providing education, access to capital, procurement opportunities, mentorship, and student involvement. · 125 minority-owned businesses participating in Ascend Atlanta have experienced an increase in revenue of $13.5 million and have gained access to $5.5 million in capital funding. #SHMS #STRAWSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today's episode of Locked On Aggies, host Andrew Stefaniak talks about some players who could start for Texas A&M as true freshmen. He feels like there aren't a whole bunch of names that jump off the sheet to him as potential starters, but there are a few guys who could if they have a really good spring and summer. Stefaniak then went on to answer mailbag questions about how good the baseball team will be, their most challenging SEC series, and whether or not Texas A&M will make the NCAA basketball tournament. Stefaniak then went on to talk about what Texas A&M has to do to beat Tennessee in basketball on Saturday. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Happy National Signing Day! Although National Signing Day in February does not bring nearly as much drama or anticipation as it has in the past, there were still some big names that LSU Tigers fans were keeping an eye on. First and foremost, LSU inked 5-star DL Dominick McKinley. McKinley, the number one player in the state of Louisiana in the 2024 class, originally committed to Texas A&M but flipped to the Tigers at the end of this past season. While most recruiting insiders did not anticipate McKinley to change his mind once it came time to put pen to paper, it is still good for Brian Kelly and his staff to finally make it official. However, it wasn't all great for LSU fans on Wednesday. Terry Bussey, a 5-star ATH from East Texas, took a visit to Baton Rouge last week. The LSU staff was hoping to flip the Texas A&M commit to add to the secondary, however the Texas kid decided to stick with his original commitment and signed with the Aggies. Locked On's official recruiting insider Brian Smith joins Caroline Fenton of Locked On LSU to talk National Signing Day, in-state recruiting over the next few seasons, and names to watch at positions of need this upcoming season. LSU Tigers fans feel more optimistic about the future of DBU at LSU now that former cornerbacks/defensive backs coach Corey Raymond has returned to Baton Rouge. But what about the DB talent he will work with this season? That position group could get much deeper and more talented with the addition of 2024 5-star ATH Terry Bussey from Timpson, Texas. Bussey originally committed to Texas A&M this past fall but re-opened his recruitment once former Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher and a majority of his coaching staff were fired in the middle of the 2023 season. While Texas A&M is still a possible landing spot for the 5-star multi-sport athlete, Bussey has Baton Rouge on the short list as well. He took a visit to LSU last week and got to meet with the new defensive coaching staff in-person before the recruiting dead period begins on February 5, which prohibits in-person communication with recruits. So what will LSU have to do moving forward to bring Bussey to the Boot? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! LSU Tigers add even more star power to the 2025 class with the news over the weekend that 2025 4-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine has committed to LSU. The New Iberia native chose the Tigers over Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, and several other programs across the country to, in his words, "bring DBU back”. The Tigers currently have three 5-stars committed in the 2025 class and have the third ranked recruiting class in the country behind Notre Dame and Clemson. While the 2025 class gives Tigers fans a ton of reason for optimism, the 2024 Tigers still need help of their own in the secondary. Could help be on the way? Terry Bussey, a five-star two way player who is being recruited as a cornerback, will visit with Brian Kelly and LSU football on Wednesday. The Texas native is the third-ranked player from the Lone Star State in the 2024 class. He originally committed to Texas A&M but decommitted once former head coach Jimbo Fisher was fired in the middle of the 2023 season. When Brian Kelly accepted the job at LSU, one of his main objectives in recruiting was to keep the top talent in the state of Louisiana in Louisiana and to bring home talent that left to play for the Tigers' rivals. Kelly has achieved that goal signing some of the top in-state talent during the early signing period a couple weeks ago, but he may have just landed his biggest commitment yet. Five-star defensive lineman and the top player in the state of Louisiana, Dominick McKinley from Lafayette, has just announced his commitment to the Tigers. McKinley was previously committed to Texas A&M but re-opened his recruitment when Jimbo Fisher was relieved of his duties in College Station. So how does McKinley fit in to what LSU wants to do defensively and how big of a get was this for Coach Kelly and the rest of the Tigers coaching staff?Brian Smith, Locked On's official recruiting insider, joins Caroline Fenton of Locked On LSU to break down what LSU is getting in the five-star Louisiana native and when Tiger fans can expect production from him. Plus, the fun isn't quite over as far as the 2024 class is concerned. Five-star two-way speedster, Terry Bussey, is another A&M commit that has re-opened his commitment and LSU is firmly in the mix of his next possible destinations. What does LSU have to do to land Bussey? Author Daniel J. Bussey's "The Illustrated History to Apples in the United States and Canada" The Illustrated History of Apples in the United States and Canada is a seven-volume set of books that documents the history of apples in North America written by Daniel J. Bussey. The book was edited by Kent Whealy and published in 2016 by JAK KAW Press LLC. Daniel J. Bussey The set covers over 16,000 apple varieties, including nearly 10,000 synonyms and 1,400 watercolor paintings. Each volume is between 500 and 600 pages long and weighs 32 pounds (14.515 kg). In 2018 this compendium received the Literary Award by the Council of Botanical and Horticultural libraries. Dan was inspired by Fred Lape's book Apples and Man. Another key literature source was John Ashton Warner's American Pomology (1867). The bibliography with line drawings of apples resulted in developing links with a network of book dealers and a rather exhaustive delving into historic documents, that predated the internet, right across the USA in the archives of fruit and horticulture societies. In this Chat with Dan Bussey Dan's journey to apples What propelled Bussey to write this book? How he gathered the info for researching this topic What readers can expect to find in the book How to use the book Why the synonyms are important in this series. How many apples in the book – how many apples known today (worldwide) Favorite stories from writing the book Favorite apples? Contact Daniel J. Joe Biden embraces the "Dark Brandon" meme, and it's as weird as you think it would be. We look at the mismanagement of land in California that has led to the state's devastating wildfires, and we think we have the solution: parachuting beavers. We say goodbye to Intern Lord of the Jacket. Garry the Bulldozer Man stops by. And Bubba's wife, Betty, and their kids sit down for an update on the Bussey family. Learn more about your ad choices. Peel back the curtain on the divisive discourse around guns and gun laws in America with my captivating conversation with Ryan Bussey, author of the book Gunfight. As an experienced outdoorsman, hunter, conservationist, and influential figure in the firearms industry, Ryan's insights promise to reshape perceptions and prompt critical thinking. His rural upbringing on a ranch has deeply shaped his views on gun responsibility, providing him a unique vantage point to discuss the breakdown of norms within the firearms industry. We crack open the tactical firearms market, exploring its rise and the targeted demographic — largely young men. The conversation gets particularly intense as we discuss the alarming surge in gun sales and the influx of new, often untrained, gun owners. Armed with high-capacity rifles and driven by an all-or-nothing mentality, these newcomers pose a significant threat to our democracy. In the final act, we navigate the intricate web of political and social changes that have profoundly influenced gun sales in America. From the election of President Obama, the heart-wrenching tragedy of Sandy Hook, to the Trump era, each event has left indelible marks on the firearms landscape. Ryan sheds light on how the industry uses fear as a sales driver and the powerful role the NRA plays in this narrative. We also delve deep into the role of private firearms in a democracy and the urgency of addressing this contentious issue responsibly. Don't miss this riveting journey through the intricate world of guns and gun laws in America.Support the showEngage the conversation on Substack at The Common Bridge!
Hi everyone! Thanks for bearing with me over the short summer break! It's good to be back and I've got a cracking episode to launch into the second half of the season. This one has it all, ghosts, murder... well alright, it's got ghosts and murder, but that's not bad! It is a darker one and has some fairly brutal murdery bits, but I don't think it's especially worse than what we've seen before. Little heads up though. I hope you enjoy! In the heart of Boston, Massachusetts, lies a 281 acre wooded parkland area known as Arnold's Arboretum. A beautiful botanical garden and research institution planted in naturalistic style, its serene park walks bely a history before its life as the arboretum, where dark events in its past stained the ground and transformed a popular picnic spot into an ugly memorial that few wished to visit. Several years later, these events in Boston found themselves tied into a story of a murderer that the contemporary press called “The most monstrous and inhuman criminal of modern times - or indeed any time,” though despite their shocking nature, they have somehow become largely forgotten, if not for a bizarre report of a ghost sighting that keeps the linked cases alive, sparking the public imagination. ------- This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp, check out betterhelp.com/darkhistories to get 10% off your first month. ------- SOURCES Brent, Henry Johnson (1868) Was it a Ghost?
