Today, Tuesday June 23 “That You May Stand Mature” Colossians 4:12-13 “Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God. For I bear him witness that he has worked hard for you and for those in Laodicea and in Hierapolis.” As Paul concludes his letter to the church at Colossae, he takes the time to recognize and give credit to those men who had assisted him in the ministry. It is indeed a sad thing to hear people who has been used by the Lord to accomplish wonderful things for the kingdom, take all the credit to themselves and never realize they could have not have done it on their own. Years ago I was given some good advice by a very wise person about this. He said that, when someone complements you on your ministry or achievements, make sure you thank them but then reflect their praise to those who assisted you in the process! “If it wasn't for my associate I would have never been able to do this. Would you please take the time to go over and thank them for helping me.” One of the men Paul recognizes is Epaphras. Paul points out that he actually is from Colossae and is a servant of Christ Jesus! Oh, I wish we had time and space to write about what it really means to be “a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.” A servant has no agenda of his own but does only those things that he knows will please his master. A good servant is totally surrendered to the will of his master and knows his heart. Epaphas was a person of prayer! He didn't just say prayers and go through a list of names and requests, but he “struggled”, he agonized in prayer for his friends and family back in Colossae. Now if Paul knew that Epaphas prayed in this manner, it means Epaphas must have had the pleasure and opportunity to pray personally with and in the presence of the Apostle Paul. For sure we should have personal and private times of prayer but we should also make sure we are praying with others. Epaphas prayed specifically! His heart prayer was for his family and friends to “stand mature” in Christ Jesus! We should pray for people to be saved, but honestly our main prayer should be for the believers around them to be mature in their walk with the Lord and “stand”, which means they will be consistent and diligent in their witness and testimony. Are you standing mature in your faith today? Are you praying for others to stand mature and “be fully assured that they are in the will of God”? A prayer guide and book that I use every day to specifically help me do this is called, “Pray for Me” by Tony Souder. Email or text me, and I will be glad to share with you how to purchase this wonderful book. (pastormike@pmiministries.org or 540-598-1351) God bless!
Tony Souder is the CEO of One Hundred Years ministry and is passionate about creating intergenerational relationships beginning with prayer. That vision launched, “The Pray for Me Campaign” in 2014; now in over 650 churches, 42 states, and 7 countries. On the day I became a father, everything changed. And then, on the day almost eight years ago when I became a grandfather, everything changed again. When I became a father, I earnestly prayed for my kids as I knew they were growing up in a world markedly different from the world that I grew up in. Now, as a grandfather, my prayers have increased as the challenges of growing up have ramped up even more. I am convinced that for kids growing up in today's world, the role grandparents can and must play is more than necessary. And one of the greatest roles we can play is that of being a prayer champion for our grandkids. Youth workers and parents, listen in today as we talk with our friend Tony Souder about ways that you can resource grandparents to pray for their grandkids, on this episode of Youth Culture Matters.

We’re all looking forward to the day when the stay at home order is lifted and the country is opened again. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed everything in our lives, including the way that we do youth ministry. As the pandemic has unfolded, more and more youth workers are dialoguing on what youth ministry will look like when this is all over. What changes should we make? And what changes should we avoid? Hopefully, our adjustments will reflect an increased focus on teaching the Bible and deep discipleship, while getting rid of ministry add-ons that really don’t matter. Join us for a lively and challenging roundtable conversation about post-pandemic youth ministry, as I chat with my friends Doug Franklin, Cameron Cole, Tony Souder, and John Perritt, on this episode of Youth Culture Matters.

What's the best way to bridge the intergenerational gap in our churches? How do young people connect with older believers? The answer just might be prayer. Today on the BreakPoint Podcast, John Stonestreet talks with Tony Souder, executive director of the Chattanooga Youth Network, and the new “Pray for Me Campaign,” which is creating a vast web of intergenerational relationships for young people and is equipping adult believers to pass on a sustainable faith to the next generation. www.prayformecampaign.com

Studies show that young people who are connected with other adults in church have a much higher percentage of remaining with the faith. But as a parent, how can we facilitate this? And as a church leader, what can we contribute? In this episode, Tony Souder of the Pray for Me Campaign discusses how he has helped supercharge this idea for churchwide application.
Kyle Idleman teaches us how to be grace-givers in our marriages, with our children, and in other relationships. Tony Souder tells us how we can help the adults pray for the kids in our churches.
Prayer is essential to the Christian life. As followers of Jesus, we must make the same request as one of His early disciples: Lord, teach us to pray. Once we learn how to pray, what should we be praying for? In today's incredibly confusing world, one of our primary prayers subjects must be our children and teens. What would happen if as individuals and churches we would begin to engage in daily prayer for each and every young person in our congregation? We'll be talking to Tony Souder about the Pray For Me campaign and how we can build our churches into communities that pray for children and teens, on this episode of Youth Culture Matters.
