This Sunday, Hilary explores the crucial role of parenting in reaching the next generation, inspired by Psalm 145:1-21, especially on Mothers Day. We acknowledge the mixed emotions of the day and emphasise the influence of family and church in shaping our faith. We're reminded of the importance of passing faith to the next generation. Hilary highlights practical ways to make faith engaging and relevant for children, highlighting the joy of sharing God's love and the necessity of personal, authentic expressions of faith. It is important that everyone, not just parents, actively contribute to nurturing young people's faith, underpinned by God's grace and our collective responsibility.

Tune in as we suggest invaluable resources like Greg Koukl's "Tactics" to equip the next generation for the challenging but rewarding task of defending biblical truth amidst academia's skeptical landscape. By fostering Christ-centered connections and emphasizing the importance of scripture over social scrolling, this session is crafted to inspire and engage believers in all walks of life.
Reaching the next generation is entirely dependent upon how we see the next generation. We need a clear understanding of what they need and - just as important - what they already have to offer. When Jesus said to make disciples, that includes kids. And God's desire to work through people includes working through kids. It's a "both-and" conversation, and so we brought in both Brooke Jones and Mike Haynes to talk about how we can all more effectively partner with the next generation in the work of the Kingdom.

Every generation has the responsibility to pass their faith to the next generation. This requires diligent training and discipleship. Main Points:1. For those of you who are parents, let me ask you to consider something: What are you actively teaching your children? Are you consistently discipling your own children? Do they see a commitment in your life to serving God? 2. I recognize that it doesn't happen by accident. If my children live for Jesus, it will happen because I'm intentional in teaching them by word and example. I do recognize that every child must have their own encounter with Jesus. They will make their own decision about what they believe about God. But as a parent, I'm going to give God every opportunity I can to work in their hearts and lives.3. We cannot let our faith die in our generation, but that is exactly what will happen if we do not accept and commit to the responsibility to raise up another generation of Christ-followers. Today's Scripture Verses:Psalm 78:4 - “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.”Psalm 71:17-18 - "O God, You have taught me from my youth; and until now I have proclaimed Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, until I have proclaimed Your strength to this generation, and Your power to everyone who is to come.”Psalm 145:4 - “One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.”Quick Links:Subscribe to The 5 Minute Discipleship NewsletterDonate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group5 Minute Discipleship on Instagram

Elder BlessingBy: Jonathan BurginSummit Church may you love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. May Christ himself always hold the rightful position as King of your life. May you set your hope anew on God, not forgetting His many miracles, and never neglecting His commands. And because of your sincere devotion to HIM, may you model to the next generation what it looks like to know, and love, and follow hard after Jesus. The next generation is looking for something that's real and satisfying. When the world offers them fake and fleeting, may you be there to offer them Jesus. Every generation is meant to impact the generation coming after them, every generation is meant to leave a legacy. Our generation will last mere moments, so let's take the task seriously, let's leave someone coming after us that takes up the mantle of making much of Christ. Until the whole world hears, and until the next generation is reached. You are sent.
