They say it takes a village. For Yarel Ramos, a correspondent with Univision, it’s always been about COMMUNITY. Community is what has helped Yarel take flight throughout her professional pursuits, and community has equally grounded her back to her roots at home. A native of Southern California’s San Fernando Valley, Yarel was born into a traditional family of Mexican immigrants: a close-knit community where education and growth were encouraged, but leaving the nest was extremely taboo. So when Yarel (the oldest of three children) opted to attend the University of Miami for undergraduate school, her parents had their fair share of reservations. Tune in for a fresh perspective on this Latina’s endeavors, as well as some dialogue about how social platforms and today’s world have transformed Yarel’s profession and life. This is an encouraging, light-hearted convo on one Latina’s path; each of us has opportunities, people, and networks that help make up part of our own story. What’s your community?
