In this episode of ALO, we chatted “Behind The Music” with legendary Haitian singer Alan Cave. Alan Cavé (born in New York City, is a Haitian-American lead singer of the legendary (kompa) band Zin. Cavé's spent most of his adolescent years in Haiti.  In 1987, he met with Alex Abellard and Eddy Saint-Vil to audition, and Cavé was quickly signed for the group Zin. The group released their first album, "O Pa", in 1989. More than two decades later, Zin's remain popular, with sweet ballads and traditional Haitian kompa grooves. Cavé is a prolific songwriter, with a catalog of songs and unreleased recordings in English, French, and Kreyol. Cavé has collaborated with some known kompa artists. In 2001 he launched his first solo album, Se Pa Pou Dat, which was an enormous success. This album seems to transcend barriers of language and cultural sound, with its melodies popular in Japan, Africa, and South America, even though listeners may not understand the words. A Konpa music singer and songwriter who rose to fame as a member of the New York City-based band Carimi. #Carimi received accolades from the International music scene, including Best Album of the Year. Carimi rose to the top of the charts across the billboards in Haiti, Guadeloupe, Paris, Canada, and parts of Europe. In 2015 Mickael released a statement and decided to leave the band due to personal issues. In May 2017 Mickael with the support of some musicians officially presents "VAYB". On Friday morning, we ended the week with an Instagram LIVE cooking demo while we chat with Haitian-American #Vegan food blogger Just Manou (@haitianandvegan) about her vegan journey after being diagnosed with Lumbar #Scoliosis. Manoucheka Vincent was born in #Haiti, came to Florida at the age of one. Known as Manou to friends and family, she is the oldest out of 5 children. She is currently a senior student at #FIU studying communications. Manou has always struggled with her weight. After being diagnosed with Lumbar Scoliosis, Manou strived to live a healthier life. While researching to see which diet fits her best; Manou chose vegetarian lifestyles after watching a documentary on the process and preparation of meat in America. Manou has lost 40lbs by cutting out meat and exercising, 9months ago she transitioned to a more plant-based diet, removing dairy, eggs, and honey. This change removed another 20lbs off. Since then she has continued to research and grow in her understanding of the plant-based life. In the video, she shared her frustration and experience while urging all those in healthcare to pressure their leadership to ensure they have the proper equipment necessary to combat the COVID-19 virus. Since the video, she has recently shared that her 7- month old son has tested positive as well.
