The Bax & O'Brien Podcast is a must-listen for any long-time fan of the show or those just discovering the comedic genius of Mike Baxendale and John O'Brien. With over 20 years of experience in the radio industry, it's no wonder these guys have a loyal fanbase that spans across the country. The addition of Steve Nagel to the trio only adds to the dynamic and makes for hilarious banter and insightful conversations.
One of the best aspects of The Bax & O'Brien Podcast is their ability to keep things fresh and entertaining. They don't shy away from controversial topics or humor that may offend some, which sets them apart from many other podcasts. It's refreshing to see hosts who are unafraid to speak their minds and offer a unique perspective on current events and pop culture.
Another standout aspect of this podcast is their deep dive into music. Bax's musical podcasts are a treat for fans who appreciate classic rock but also want to discover new sounds. The interviews with musicians from bands like The Sex Pistols, Talking Heads, Metallica, and more provide an inside look at iconic artists and their music. It's a great way to gain a fresh perspective on well-known bands while also introducing listeners to lesser-known gems.
While there aren't many negative aspects to this podcast, one could argue that it may not be suitable for everyone. As mentioned before, their humor can be offensive to some listeners, so it's important for potential listeners to understand that going in. Additionally, some episodes may delve into topics that not all listeners find interesting or relevant.
In conclusion, The Bax & O'Brien Podcast is a fantastic listen for anyone who enjoys good comedy and wants a fresh take on current events and music. With their witty banter, insightful interviews, and willingness to tackle controversial subjects head-on, Bax, O'Brien, and Nagel create an engaging show that keeps fans coming back for more. Baxie talks with Darren Hill from the Red Rockers! Once considered “The American Clash”, Red Rockers scored the timeless New Wave classic “China” in 1983. Last month the band and Liberation Hall Records released a terrific live set from their 2023 reunion show in New Orleans titled, “It's In Our Blood”. Darren talks about that, the band, and about the being deemed “The American Clash” by Rock critic Lester Bangs. Darren also talks about his second career as the manager of The New York Dolls, Paul Westerburg of The Replacement, The Dropkick Murphys, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The New York Dolls, and more! Just awesome! Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and on the Rock102 App. Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicopee.

This week Baxie speaks with Dave and Gram Tab from the band Mad Tab! After four years in the making, Mad Tab is about to release their second album this coming September! The name of the record is called “Alas! The Bomb Voyage”. Mad Tab were the very first band signed by Inanuttshell Records—the record company started by Norwood Fisher (founder and former bass player for Fishbone)! The first single from Inanutshell Records is “Awake”. And it is a freaking beast! It's arguably the best song they've ever recorded. And it's certainly one of my favorite singles of the year! Baxie speaks with Simon Raymonde of The Cocteau Twins! Simon has just released an amazing memoir entitled “In One Ear: Cocteau Twins, Ivor, and Me”. This is a tremendous book in which Simon not only talks about the band and their unconventional way of making some of the best albums of the 1980's (and early 90's). He also talks about the legacy of his father, Ivor Raymonde, whose own credits in music include David Bowie, Dusty Springfield, The Walker Brothers, Tom Jones, and hundreds more. We also talk about his record label Bella Union Records, the state of the music industry, and about the frightening health scare that stripped him of 50% of his hearing. Just an amazing story! It's a VERY special bonus episode of Baxie's Musical Podcast with Jules Peters—the wife of the late Mike Peter's from The Alarm. This is an incredibly powerful interview in which Jules talks about Mike's incredible legacy followed a 31-year battle with leukemia. Jules not only shares the story about his final days but also about the recording of his final album with The Alarm. The record, which is entitled “Transformation” is being released on May 29th. And it's absolutely astonishing. Having had the chance to speak with Mike in March of 2023 it was a true honor to speak with Jules about how she's keeping his amazing spirit alive. This is one interview that you're not going to want to miss. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and on the Rock102 app! Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicopee.

Since the late 1970's musician, author, historian, music journalist John Robb has seen just about everything. After writing nine books ranging from Goth Rock to Brit Pop (a term that he coined himself), after writing for such respected music publications as The Melody Maker, Sounds, The Guardian, The Independents (and many others), after running the website Louder Than War, after appearing in nearly every British music documentary over the last several decades, and after releasing more than two dozen records with his bands The Membranes and Goldblade—John Robb has finally written about his own amazing life story. His latest book “Punk Rock Ruined My Life: And Other Stories” (out May 19th) takes a look at the ups and downs of a wild career! John and I talk about everything from David Bowie to the Sex Pistols, to being the first British journalist to interview Nirvana, to bands we both love, to running a fanzine, to the late Steve Albini, and a whole lot more. It's always great to welcome him back to the podcast! Listen on Apple Podcast, YouTube, Spotify, and on the Rock102 app! Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicopee.
