The Bax & O'Brien Podcast is a must-listen for any long-time fan of the show or those just discovering the comedic genius of Mike Baxendale and John O'Brien. With over 20 years of experience in the radio industry, it's no wonder these guys have a loyal fanbase that spans across the country. The addition of Steve Nagel to the trio only adds to the dynamic and makes for hilarious banter and insightful conversations.
One of the best aspects of The Bax & O'Brien Podcast is their ability to keep things fresh and entertaining. They don't shy away from controversial topics or humor that may offend some, which sets them apart from many other podcasts. It's refreshing to see hosts who are unafraid to speak their minds and offer a unique perspective on current events and pop culture.
Another standout aspect of this podcast is their deep dive into music. Bax's musical podcasts are a treat for fans who appreciate classic rock but also want to discover new sounds. The interviews with musicians from bands like The Sex Pistols, Talking Heads, Metallica, and more provide an inside look at iconic artists and their music. It's a great way to gain a fresh perspective on well-known bands while also introducing listeners to lesser-known gems.
While there aren't many negative aspects to this podcast, one could argue that it may not be suitable for everyone. As mentioned before, their humor can be offensive to some listeners, so it's important for potential listeners to understand that going in. Additionally, some episodes may delve into topics that not all listeners find interesting or relevant.
In conclusion, The Bax & O'Brien Podcast is a fantastic listen for anyone who enjoys good comedy and wants a fresh take on current events and music. With their witty banter, insightful interviews, and willingness to tackle controversial subjects head-on, Bax, O'Brien, and Nagel create an engaging show that keeps fans coming back for more. Despite being the Doobie's lead guitar player for the last 46 years, John McFee's amazing career has taken him from playing with Van Morrison, Steve Miller, Nick Lowe, Rick James, and many others. He was also in the band Clover which not only backed up Elvis Costello on his first album—the band would eventually become Huey Lewis & The News. In 1990 John started a project with Keith Knudsen from the Doobie Bros and Stu Cook from CCR. Together they recorded an album under the name Jackdawg. Baxie talks to drummer Greg Langston. This is an unbelievable story about Greg's time with the Sea Hags. This was a band that had been set to become “The Next Guns n Roses”. But due to a series of unfortunate circumstances and bad decisions the band began to implode just before they had a chance to record their one and only studio album. This was a band that had everything going their way until it suddenly didn't. In fact, Greg talks about the Sea Hags even having their early demos produced by Kirk Hammet from Metallica and the great Siliva Masse (Johnny Cash, Tool, RHCP). Greg talks about that, his previous work with both No Alternative and Tuxedo Moon, getting fired from the band, and about the release of a previously unavailable live recording of the Sea Hags which has just been released on Liberation Hall records (“Dead & Gone”). Just an amazing and heartbreaking story of a band that missed it by THAT much! Listen wherever you find podcasts and on the Rock102 app! Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicopee.

Baxie talks to the former editor of Alternative Press, Jason Pettigrew. Jason has just published an excellent in-depth look at Ministry's 1988 classic album "The Land of Rape and Honey". The book, which is a part of the 33 1/3 album series, dives into the amazing story of Ministry's Al Jorgensen and his defiant reluctance of becoming an aggressively groomed major label synth-popstar. Instead, he would go on to release not only one of the important albums of the 1980's but one of the influential recordings in Industrial music history. This is one of the great stories in music history! Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and on the Rock102 app! Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicopee!

Baxie welcomes back NY Times bestselling biographer Bill Janovitz! Bill is about to release his next book on September 25th “The Cars: Let the Stories Be Told”. His previous biography about the late Leon Russell was one of the best Rock biographies that I had read in years. The new book is every bit as great! On top that, Bill is also the lead singer and guitarist for the Massachusetts-based band Buffalo Tom! They'll be at the Please Come to Boston Festival in November! Just a great conversation!
