Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament & Stone Gossard from Pearl Jam, along with Matt Dillon, make up the fictional band Citizen Dick. Chris Cornell also makes a cameo - and it turns out some of Soundgarden's biggest songs were inspired by a prop on the set of this very movie. From guitar virtuosos to vocal powerhouses, Matt and Sam's "Women Who Rock: Volume 2" showcases twelve artists who represent the extraordinary breadth and depth of women's contributions to rock music.St. Vincent (Annie Clark) kicks things off with "Los Ageless," her scathing take on Los Angeles culture wrapped in irresistible guitar work. Meanwhile, Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" demonstrates how great music transcends time, finding a whole new generation of listeners through Stranger Things – likely causing Bush herself to wake up one morning wondering why her 37-year-old song was suddenly topping global charts. The mix features several guitar virtuosos deserving wider recognition. Orianthi, who's performed alongside Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper, delivers both technical brilliance and emotional resonance on "According to You." Even more surprising is Kaki King's instrumental "Default Shell," showcasing finger techniques so complex they seem impossible to be produced by human hands – explaining why she's collaborated with Eddie Vedder and toured with Foo Fighters.Modern innovators get their due through Maggie Rogers' "Anywhere With You" , CHVRCHES' build-up masterpiece "Clearest Blue," and The Joy Formidable's "Worrying," which culminates in an extended instrumental finale that serves as perfect running music for those final miles. We close with HAIM's Eagles-influenced harmonies on "The Wire" and Bully's raw punk energy on "Either Way" – proving that women aren't just participating in rock's evolution, they're driving it forward in exciting new directions. This isn't just a collection of women who play rock music – it's a celebration of essential artists whose technical skill, songwriting prowess, and unique perspectives continue to reshape what rock can be.Follow us on Instagram @superawesomemix and join our growing community of music lovers who understand that great music transcends all boundaries.https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7cMQ2xZQcDAoG6yx4KLDzF?si=ec5e4f18da1e419c Los Ageless by St. VincentRunning Up That Hill by Kate BushC'mon C'mon by Sheryl CrowBurning by Yeah Yeah YeahsAccording To You by OrianthiAnywhere With You by Maggie RogersAll American Girl by Melissa EtheridgeClearest Blue by CHVRCHESDefault Shell by Kaki KingWhirring by The Joy FormidableThe Wire by HAIMEither Way by Bully Support the showVisit us at https://www.superawesomemix.com to learn more about our app, our merchandise, our cards, and more!

Send us a textToday marks a milestone five years since we began this podcast journey together, amounting to 45 episodes, 1.7 million downloads, and nearly $47,000 raised for multiple charities. What's even more remarkable? We did the first three years of shows before ever meeting in person. That's the magic of Pearl Jam—creating connections that transcend physical distance.Music serves as a comfort blanket for many of us, particularly during challenging times. For Anthony, who left home at 16 and slept in his car, Pearl Jam represented a search for belonging when people continuously entered and exited his life. For Trey, hearing "Ten" as a 19-year-old college student prompted him to drop out and move to Seattle, completely altering his life trajectory and eventually leading to a winery named after one of his favorite songs. We share our most profound Pearl Jam memories—from Trey's experience at the legendary Drop in the Park show to Anthony's emotional journey photographing the band in Charlottesville after numerous rejections. That night, while photographing "Release" through tears, Anthony achieved a goal he'd thought impossible. These aren't just concert memories; they're life-defining moments. The podcast conversation explores how the band's activism fostered similar qualities in fans. Their emphasis on empathy and giving back inspired both hosts to become more involved with charitable causes. Perhaps most meaningful are the friendships formed through this community—people who became chosen family rather than just fellow fans.As we look toward the future, we remain grateful for how one band's authentic art transformed our lives in unexpected ways. And in true cosmic alignment, our fifth anniversary falls on the same day as the anniversaries of "Ten" (34 years) and "No Code" (31 years). Join us in celebrating not just music, but the enduring power of connection it creates.www.TheTouringFanLive.commedia@TheTouringFanLive.Comwww.facebook.com/TheTouringFanLiveInstagram-@TheTouringFanLiveCopyright The Touring Fan Live 2026

"Boys Talking" Yes, it's true that Will Dailey's seventh album, Boys Talking is not technically out. I mean, it is and it isn't. Hold that thought because we're going to circle back to it. The Boston-born Will Dailey is one of the most affecting, soulful and moving singers you'll ever hear. His back catalog, which features records like Goodbye Red Bullet, National Throat, Golden Walker and his new one Boys Talking, is a perfect discography that filled with rootsy soul, road-kissed Americana and wrenching ballads that make you miss everyone you ever lost. Will's resume' is a winning read: he's signed to a major label, played with Juliana Hatfield, Peter Buck and Eddie Vedder, opened for The Wallflowers, received endless critical acclaim and played the Folk, Americana, and Roots Hall of Fame induction ceremony, paying tribute to the late Richie Havens. Will Dailey is the real deal--a singer with tremendous range and poetic prowess and if you want to classify him as one of the best kept secrets in music, that's fine, but he's one secret that shouldn't be kept. So what's the story with Boys Talking? Is it out? Yes and no. You can't find it on any streaming service, but you can buy it from Will at his website. And as he innovates further against the current digital model, another move he's made is to record a song that only you will hear--give him ten bucks and you get a song you can only listen to once. Art is valuable and Will Dailey's creativity in how to distribute art is reminding us of its joy, its dynamism and that it's not something to be thrown around or thrown away. www.willdailey.com www.bombshellradio.com (http://www.bombshellradio.com) www.stereoembersmagazine.com www.alexgreenbooks.com (http://www.alexgreenbooks.com) Stereo Embers The Podcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com (mailto:editor@stereoembersmagazine.com) IG + BLUESKY: @emberspodcast

Totally 80s and 90s Recall

In this week's episode of Totally 80's and 90's Recall, Dave and Rob dive deep into the flannel-wrapped world of one of the most iconic bands of the ‘90s—Pearl Jam. From the explosive arrival of Ten in 1991 to their fierce stance against the mainstream and Ticketmaster, Pearl Jam helped shape the grunge movement while carving their own path through the decade's chaotic music scene. We're talking raw emotion, blistering guitar riffs, and a frontman in Eddie Vedder whose voice became the battle cry for a generation disillusioned with polished pop and hair metal. Their blend of punk, classic rock, and introspective lyrics created an authentic sound that resonated with millions. Dave and Rob break down the band's cultural footprint, including their role in the Seattle sound explosion and their refusal to play the fame game. Of course, we couldn't talk about Pearl Jam without giving our Essential Top 10 Pearl Jam Songs of the ‘90s—the ones that defined the decade, made us crank up the volume, and still hit just as hard today. This week's Mixtape Rewind takes you back to our first Intro mix ever, when Matt introduced Sam to Pearl Jam.Pearl Jam's music walks a fascinating tightrope—raw, energetic rock paired with profound, often dark storytelling. This episode takes you on a journey through their three-decade evolution, perfect for both newcomers and longtime fans wanting a deeper appreciation of their artistry. We explore how their debut album Ten created an instant impact with songs like "Jeremy"—a haunting track based on the true story of a student's classroom suicide—and why that album's four standout tracks remain essential listening. The emotional range of Eddie Vedder's voice shines through as we contrast high-energy anthems like "Even Flow" with more introspective pieces like "Black," revealing how the band masterfully balances intensity with vulnerability. What's particularly fascinating is how their audience has shaped their music's meaning over time. "Alive," originally written as a painful reflection on family trauma, transformed through concert performances into an empowering anthem of survival—something Eddie Vedder himself acknowledges changed his relationship with the song. It's this connection between band and listeners that makes Pearl Jam's catalog so compelling.Later albums showcase their artistic evolution, from the politically charged "Corduroy" to acoustic gems like "Just Breathe," demonstrating why they've remained relevant while many of their 90s contemporaries faded away. We even touch on Eddie Vedder's solo work, highlighting how the distinctive voice of Pearl Jam translates into different musical contexts.Whether you missed the Pearl Jam phenomenon the first time around or want to rediscover what made them revolutionary, this mixtape offers the perfect entry point into their world of authentic, powerful rock storytelling. We discuss bands outside the usual suspects of Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, and Pearl Jam. Your hosts fondly remember this time, as we were young adults when the Seattle scene invaded all US rock n' roll avenues. In retrospect, this sounds like less of a movement and more of a melting pot of many of the genres that had been established in silos during the 70s and 80s. Don't think you like grunge? Then check this out! This episode features songs from bands outside the big 4 of grunge, but we don't think you'll be totally surprised. Many of these groups had similarities with the producers that were chosen, namely, Jack Endino. A perfect amalgam of punk, classic rock, and metal is right in Captain Content and Kevin's wheelhouse.
