+ info - https://linktr.ee/b90podcast Espacio patrocinado por: Dani Go - Fran Cordero Cañas - Jose Manuel Valera - Barullo - Unai Elordui - JulMorGon - David Salamanca Sanz - Jaime Marchica Band - Sr.Jota - Theinvisibleband - jorge - Llorx Miller - Yago Llopis - boldano - estebansantosjuanesbosch - Vicent Martin - Matias Ruiz Molina - Próxima Estación Okinawa - Rosa Rivas - jvcliment - Jaume Solivelles - Javier Alcalde - jmgomez - Ana Isabel Miguélez Domínguez - Iñigo Albizu - Rachael - Naïa - Jaime Cruz Flórez - DOMINGO SANTABÁRBARA - faeminoandtired - Javi Portas - Belén Vaca - Ana FM - tueresgeorge - Eduardo Mayordomo Muñoz - Barrax de Pump - pdr_rmn - fernando - QUIROGEA Integrative Osteopath - J. Is the mainstream rock shortage a corporate hit job? This week on The Heavy Metal Hangover, Rex and Duff are dissecting Billy Corgan's recent statement that rock music was intentionally and purposefully scrubbed from popular culture by the industry powers-that-be. We look at the validity of his claims, debate whether rock was pushed or if it simply walked away, and ask what it means for the future of guitar-driven music. But if the industry is trying to kill rock, the snobs aren't helping! We close out the show with a lighthearted look at the absolute absurdity of music elitism, using the classic movie High Fidelity as our guide. We laugh at our own inner "Championship Vinyl" clerks, poke fun at the gatekeepers who refuse to let people just enjoy a catchy tune, and remind everyone that at the end of the day, music is supposed to be fun.

Get ready to meet Carleigh Ferrante, a 30-something year old skeleton who gives out dating advice to people who apparently have no common sense, no self-esteem, and no dignity. She teaches losers how to flirt, what types of dates to go on, and even how to text. Finally, someone who can teach me how to text! Can there be some astrology mixed in? You betcha!! Lucy Tightbox joins the show to watch a fake interview with Billy Corgan on legendary LA radio station KROQ. Stuttering John gets cockblocked on Stephanie Miller's show by the guest's mom. But that doesn't stop him from asking embarrassing questions and using his children for LGBTQ clout. Opie had an amazing stream on Thursday morning that started with his depression over losing his only friend, then admitting to going back to therapy, and then addressing our show talking about him having a falling out with Matt at Gebhard's. He also brings on a special guest who is supposedly a longtime friend but really she's someone he definitely does not care about. We finish with Net News and your voicemails. FOLLOW UP: This week, it seems America believes every complicated social problem can be fixed by asking, “Have you tried turning the internet off for the children?” Meanwhile, the Electronic Frontier Foundation quietly notes that the science behind social media bans might not be as clear-cut as cable-news dads screaming about dopamine loops claim. Turns out, teen anxiety may also be linked to pandemics, school shootings, climate dread, and an economy that feels like a Fallout side quest. Meanwhile, Snap Inc. and YouTube settled another lawsuit accusing their apps of turning kids into doomscrolling goblins, Meta continues to insist social media addiction isn't real while losing money in court, and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt was booed at a graduation speech after telling graduates to hop on the AI rocket ship without asking questions — exactly what a billionaire says when he already owns the rocket. In the news, Elon Musk lost another OpenAI lawsuit because apparently even juries have limits. SpaceX's IPO revealed Musk plans to power AI with enough gas turbines to recreate 1890s London smog, and Grok officially became a disclosure liability after the whole “MechaHitler” incident. Tesla robotaxis still clip fences and occasionally require humans to remotely drive the “self-driving” cars. Trump Mobile somehow shipped a gold phone that actually works — a stunning upset — before immediately leaking customer data. LinkedIn finally admitted the platform has become an AI-generated motivational swamp filled with “it's not about X, it's about Y” sludge from people named Brayden. Spotify is handing out podcast verification badges so listeners can tell real creators from algorithmic nightmare fuel. Meta laid off thousands more workers while reportedly using employee surveillance to train AI replacements. And OpenAI is giving everyone in Malta a free year of ChatGPT Plus if they complete an AI literacy course, which honestly makes Malta sound more technologically responsible than Silicon Valley.APPS & DOODADS reflect classic Gen-X paranoia, as Backblaze highlights California's constant threat of wildfires and the idea that local backups are optimistic. YouTube introduced AI deepfake detection tools, allowing creators to finally see which scam ads are using their faces to promote crypto vitamins, while X limited free users to 50 posts a day unless they pay for a blue check — proving once again that the true free speech was the subscriptions we sold along the way. Retrocodex arrived with a strong “everything your teachers confidently told you in 1987 was wrong” vibe.MEDIA CANDY opens with the eternal cry of “FUCK THE FIRETV!!!!” before Jason taps out of Good Omens after ten minutes while Brian takes the bullet for the audience. There's also chatter about Mortal Kombat 2, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Billy Corgan talking goth history with David J, and more existential dread courtesy of Dan Carlin's Common Sense.THE DARK SIDE WITH DAVE welcomes back Dave Bittner for a Mando & Grogu review, Darth Maul, and a stunning but absurdly expensive LEGO Disneyland set. There's also a guy who built a full-size Millennium Falcon “with his wife's permission,” a fan-made Star Tours film, and the Federal Trade Commission discovering that those creepy “your phone is listening to you” ad-tech companies mainly just had PowerPoint decks and confidence. Also: mechanical keyboard simulators now exist, because apparently even fake typing has become a lifestyle brand.Sponsors:DeleteMe - Get 20% off your DeleteMe plan when you go to JoinDeleteMe.com/GOG and use promo code GOG at checkout.Shopify - Sign up for your one-dollar-per-month trial today at Shopify.com/grumpyPrivate Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today. What's this? An interview? Why yes, it's a proper interview. How unusual for this RAWcast! Lou and Adelle have the pleasure of chatting with Melissa Auf der Maur about her new 90's rock memoir "Even the Good Girls Will Cry". As a tribute to this analog Queen, Lou does a cassette enhanced re-creation of a pivotal passage from the book: a fight between her friend Bruce (later of Godspeed You Black Emperor) and her 'grungefather' Billy Corgan. P.S. the book is great! Today was a revolving door of guests, and there was something for everybody. For Smashing Pumpkins fans, Billy Corgan joined the show to reveal the details of their newly announced Rats In A Cage tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. He weighed in on whether or not the Pumpkins would ever do a residency at the Sphere in Vegas & whether or not they'd win in a wrestling match against the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ally's hot cousin also joined the show to go through all the sexy outfits she has planned for their upcoming weekend in Vegas. 'Coco' is a hairstylist who met her equally hot husband in Vegas and already got invited to the biggest party of the weekend: A pool party with John Summit. When Ally asked about which 'full butted swimsuit' she should wear we knew who got the good genes in the family. Ben Gleib, comedian and host of the Idiot Test stopped by the studio to talk about his new ground-breaking Late Night Show "Good Night with Ben Gleib" premiering on YouTube May 28th. He joined us for a round of Am I An Idiot? where we heard stories of lighting eyebrows on fire and a woman who got in a fight with her own reflection in the mirror.

Prior to Napster and LimeWire, the music industry seemed to be a cash cow. Everyone wanted in. But in the world of streaming, artists are making literal pennies on the dollar. Some bands will need tens of thousands of listens and likes to make a paycheck. The music industry is broken, which is why Bruce Springsteen and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have cashed in their chips and sold their music catalogue. In this solo episode of the Check Your Brain podcast, Tony Mazur analyzes the issues in modern music. He plays interviews from Rick Beato and Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan who said rock 'n' roll was systematically destroyed three decades ago, and the only way one makes it in the music industry is if they have rich parents subsidizing their kids' vanity project. He also touches on the ridiculous New York Times' list of 30 Greatest Living Songwriters, the unoriginality in modern music, and the phenomenon known as "Blue Dot Fever." Be sure to subscribe to Tony's Patreon. $3 gets you just audio, $5 gets video AND audio, and $10 has all of the above, as well as bonus podcasts per week. Visit Patreon.com/TonyMazur. Matt and Michael return from two very different deserts. Vegas and Big Bend. One all lights and noise, the other all silence and heat. Matt shares what it meant to scatter his father's ashes in West Texas. Michael talks about the solitude of crowds. And somewhere around the forty minute mark, the conversation turns into something else entirely. What is AI actually for? What gets lost when we outsource struggle? Why do we need to be broken to become whole? And what happens to a culture that forgets the purpose of things? They land on teleology, the study of purpose itself. A knife only makes sense if you know it's meant to cut. So what are we meant for? And what happens when we stop asking? Cheers y'all
Justin reflects on a recent interview with Diplo about AI replacing singers and uses it as a doorway into a deeper conversation about art, product, beauty, and human value. He argues that art is not valuable because it sells or because it reaches technical perfection. Art matters because it comes from a human being in process. Episode 200 of The Rizzuto Show — a funny podcast that probably should've been canceled by now — delivers exactly what you'd expect: absolute chaos, questionable decisions, and just enough structure to keep the FCC mildly interested.Things kick off with a surprise intro from Billy Corgan, who casually drops in like it's no big deal and immediately reminds everyone that Riz is somehow celebrating another birthday without aging. Totally normal. From there, the show spirals into its natural habitat: organized nonsense. We bring up a local event featuring Maynard James Keenan and his wine empire (because yes, rock stars now double as sommeliers), and before you know it, we're talking about wine tastings, concerts, and how this all somehow connects back to the show. But the real centerpiece? Scott's birthday. And let's just say… the gifts were thoughtful in the same way a prank is “thoughtful.” A mix of heartfelt, confusing, and borderline suspicious items gets opened live on-air, leading to reactions that range from appreciation to “what exactly am I holding right now?” It's the kind of moment that defines a funny podcast — unpredictable, slightly inappropriate, but undeniably hilarious.Of course, we hit “Crap on Celebrities,” where we break down everything from upcoming music documentaries to bizarre celebrity rankings that make absolutely no sense. There's also a deep dive into outlaw country legend David Allan Coe, complete with stories that feel too wild to be real (but somehow are). Add in pop culture debates, nostalgia tangents, and one of the most questionable “best vocalists” lists ever created, and you've got yourself a full episode of beautifully controlled chaos. This funny podcast is everything The Rizzuto Show does best: real conversations, ridiculous moments, and a group of people who probably shouldn't be left unsupervised this early in the morning. And somehow… we made it to 200.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

If you know anything about music history, you know the story of the Pumpkins is a tumultuous one. But Billy has continued through it all. Back in 2012, Billy was in Australia to play Splendour in the Grass with the latest incarnation of Smashing Pumpkins. With a new album under their belt, he was in a buoyant mood and up for an epic conversation when he joined Zan to Take 5Billy is always good chat, but if you've ever wondered about the music that made him, this conversation is a dream. Matt and Michael explore the tension between artificial and authentic in the age of AI. Opening with mortality and fatherhood, they spiral through technology's disconnecting effects, the nature of reality, and what it means to live meaningfully. Key themes include AI's impact on art and relationships, the sexualization of culture, the failure of modern education, and predictions about cultural revival. Cheers y'all

Thanks to our Partners, Pico Technology, Autel, and Independent Wrench JobsWatch Full Video EpisodeIn this episode, Matt Fanslow starts in an unexpected place, music, vocal styles, and Smashing Pumpkins, before using a series of stories from the music and sports worlds to make a bigger point about mentorship. The central idea is simple but important: mentorship has to come from both directions. Experienced people need to step in and offer guidance, and younger people need to be willing to ask questions and listen.Using examples involving Billy Corgan, Ryan Leaf, and Charles Barkley, Matt explores how young people often make costly decisions not because they are reckless or foolish, but because nobody pulled them aside and explained the long-term consequences. From contracts and money management to discipline and preparation, the lesson is that hindsight may be 20/20, but it is far better to learn from someone else's mistakes before they become your own.Matt then brings the conversation back to the automotive repair world, where the same pattern shows up all the time. New people entering the field are often hit with student debt, pressure to buy expensive toolboxes and tools, and unrealistic expectations about how easy the work should feel. Rather than watching them stumble into avoidable financial mistakes, seasoned professionals, shop owners, and managers should step in, offer guidance, and help reduce unnecessary burdens. Whether it is tools, training, or simply helping someone think more clearly about their next step, good mentoring can change the trajectory of a career. In this episode:Why mentorship matters more than most people realizeThe Billy Corgan / Smashing Pumpkins story and the cost of not having guidanceRyan Leaf, Peyton Manning, and how early choices can shape an entire careerCharles Barkley, Dr. J, and Moses Malone as an example of mentorship done rightThe direct parallel between pro sports, music, and the automotive industryWhy young specialists can get buried in debt before they ever gain tractionThe problem with pushing new people toward expensive tool truck purchasesHow shops can better support newer hires with tools, training, and realistic expectationsWhy learning from someone else's mistakes is often better than learning from your ownValuable training and learning resources for developing specialistsKey Takeaway:If the industry wants more capable, successful technical and mechanical specialists, it cannot just complain about shortages and washout rates. It has to do a better job of mentoring, advising, and protecting newer people from avoidable mistakes.Resources Mentioned:Scanner Danner PremiumAutel training videos and user-created contentPico Technology training videos and user-created contentAESwave resourcesDiagnostic NetworkFacebook groups with strong technical communitiesThanks to our Partner, Pico TechnologyAre you chasing elusive automotive problems? Was there an FBI conspiracy to kill off rock music? eh....no seriously....sort of, well Billy Corgan alluded to it on his podcast so I take it on face value and look into what changed. If we take Woodstock 99' as the last high point of angry dudes with guitars has it all been pop music-ified since then? On one level it certainly seems so, but we do love a conspiracy, could it be real, or is it just technology and culture changing....the show is looking for sponsors....if you think this is something you are interested in, get in touchAlan.averill@gmail.comfollow menemtheanga_primordialprimordial_officialon the gramsupport the show over at :https://patreon.com/AlanAverillPrimordial on SpotifyYES THERE'S A NEW Primordial LIVE ALBUM OUT !!https://open.spotify.com/artist/0BZr6WHaejNA63uhZZZZek?si=yFFV8ypSSDOESUX62_0TzQsponsored by Metal Blade recordshttps://metalblade.indiemerch.com/promo code AA 2024 for 10% off your orderships worldwideFor info on my work as a booking agent go to:https://www.facebook.com/DragonProductionsOfficialor email alan@dragon-productions.comPrimordial cds/lps available fromhttps://www.metalblade.com/primordial/death metalVERMINOUS SERPENThttps://open.spotify.com/artist/54Wpl9JD0Zn4rhpBvrN2Oa?si=zOjIulHXS5y9lW1YHMhgTAdoomDREAD SOVEREIGN https://open.spotify.com/artist/60HY4pl0nbOrZA6u2QnqDN?si=sxQ5_1htR6G3WIvy1I_wXAgothAPRILMENhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/7GzLO1YJClmN5TvV4A37MJ?si=cRXSk24lQKWSqJG-B8KbWQSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/agitators-anonymous-the-alan-averill-podcast. Today's guest is the architect of alternative rock who sold 30 million albums and defined the sound of an entire generation — but whose real story begins after the hits stopped mattering to him. From the suburbs of Chicago to the apex of 90s mainstream success, Billy Corgan built an empire. Then he spent the last 20 years quietly dismantling the idea that commercial success is the same thing as real value. He carries three things simultaneously that most artists never figure out how to hold at once: the ambition of someone who was never going to settle for the midwest, the technical genius of a classically-trained musician who produces every layer of his own work, and the philosophical rigor of someone willing to completely reimagine what success actually means. This is one of the more unflinching conversations about what staying relevant actually costs — not the version that gets posted on socials, the version that gets lived in the real decisions you make about art, money, independence, and how you want to spend your time. When the gatekeepers are gone and nobody's controlling the narrative anymore, who do you become? And The Writer Is... Billy Corgan! In this episode of And The Writer Is, we go deep on:• The trap of being defined by your greatest hits — and why he refuses it• His father's failed music career, and the moment his dad finally understood• Chicago's inward-facing indie scene and the cost of communities that don't believe in themselves• How the value of artists gets assessed in rooms — and why that's broken• What "influence" actually means vs. commercial success• The gatekeepers are gone — what that really means for independent artists• Owning 100% of your publishing and why that changes everything• Building a new world where direct artist support is how things actually work• Why legacy thinking is changing, and what comes nextAnd much more...Hit subscribe and turn on notifications. This week is lucky #13 of our series called “Degrees Of Separation…” where we discuss side projects and solo releases from artists we love. This episode focuses on the mega-intense, stage-stalking, heavy-throated, part-animal, part-machine literary punk rock icon: HENRY ROLLINS! Kevin's appreciation and fandom of old Hank goes all the way back to his rock n' roll beginnings! If you only know him as that red guy screaming Liar in that '90s video, or as the dude that is on every rockumentary, we hope we turn you on to something new. Search & destroy!!! New to InObscuria? It's all about digging up obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. While we may be talking about an artist that many of you know in this episode, perhaps you are not aware of the depth of his work and collabs from the early 80s to the 2000s. Hope ya dig! On this episode of SPIN Presents Lipps Service with Scott Lipps, Scott sits down with alternative rock icon Melissa Auf der Maur. Best known for her time in Hole during the Live Through This era and later with The Smashing Pumpkins alongside Billy Corgan, Melissa takes us inside one of the most defining moments in music history — the 1990s alternative explosion. Melissa opens up about playing on Courtney Love's new record, the possibility of a Hole reunion, her decision to step away from music, and her life today in upstate New York. Welcome back to your favorite daily comedy show, where absolutely nothing stays on topic and somehow everything still works.Today's chaos kicks off with a brand-new listener game: Two Truths and a Lie. The twist? You call in. You try to fool us. And if you trick the majority of the studio, you win tickets. Simple. Clean. Probably not. Because the Rizz Show crew immediately proves we are wildly overconfident in our lie-detecting abilities. Shocking. From there, things take a hard left into movie talk — including whether The Substance is a safe airplane watch (spoiler: absolutely not unless you enjoy strangers thinking you're watching something wildly inappropriate). Then we spiral into HBO's DTF St. Louis and whether the show actually understands St. Louis… or just Googled “Arch” and called it a day. Why does every character say “St. Louis” like they're being paid per mention? And why does every window apparently have a perfect Arch view? We investigate. Loudly. In Crap on Celebrities, we unpack:Christina Applegate ditching Brad Pitt for Sebastian Bach (imagine that car ride home).Jim Carrey's new face and the internet screaming “clone conspiracy.”Billy Idol kicking heroin by switching to crack (which is… a strategy?).Billy Corgan's theory that rock music was intentionally dialed down by shadowy forces. Why country music is suddenly dominating everything.Ozzfest's return.Squid Game's “celebrity” edition (and we use the term loosely).Basically, this daily comedy show covers celebrity news, pop culture commentary, music chaos, and weird news with the exact level of sarcasm you'd expect from grown adults arguing about recumbent bikes. And because we're nothing if not competitive, we end with listener showdowns in Two Truths and a Lie — proving once again that our audience is either wildly fascinating… or disturbingly good at lying. It's another beautifully unhinged daily comedy show from Rizz and the gang — serving up funny stories, entertainment gossip, St. Louis flavor, and just enough nonsense to make your commute slightly less painful.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
