Canadian-born Jon Mikl Thor began his career in the early ‘70s as a champion body builder competing against the world’s strongest men and winning numerous awards along the way. But his love for heavy metal music compelled him to retire from body building and develop his skills as a musician and performer. Taking the mononym THOR, he quickly gained a devout following in the burgeoning metal scene thanks in part to elaborate and provocative live shows, which frequently featured Jon performing amazing feats of strength - bending steel bars with his teeth and exploding water bottles with his lungs! A performance on the Merv Griffin Show led to a record deal with RCA in late 1976 and the release of his debut Keep The Dogs Away. But it wasn’t until THOR’s follow-up album,1985’s Only The Strong, that he really began to flex his muscles. Thanks to fist-pumping anthems like “Thunder On The Tundra”and the powerful title track, Only The Strong became a landmark release and continues to be heralded as one of the finest metal albums of the ‘80s. As the music scene began to change in the decades that followed, THOR continued to be a champion for true metal, releasing numerous well-received studio and live albums. Then,in 2015, THOR teamed with indie giant Cleopatra Records for a new album, Metal Avenger, which featured special guest performances from many of THOR’s admirers including Henry Rollins, Fast Eddie Clarke of Motörhead, Cheetah Chrome of Dead Boys, Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister and more. A feature-length documentary film, “I Am Thor,” was released in 2016 followed by more studio albums that put THOR in collaboration with some fellow metal deities like W.A.S.P.'s Chris Holmes, Raven vocalist John Gallagher, Soilwork singer Björn Strid, Danko Jones, Anthrax's Neil Turbin, Ross “The Boss” Friedman and others! Now celebrating an incredible 50 years of headbanging domination, THOR shows no sign of slowing down. Indeed, if his newest album and recent tours are any indication, he may just be getting started!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I Am (I'm Me)". Las canciones de Twisted Sister "Under the Blade" y "We're Not Gonna Take It" fueron mencionadas específicamente en las convocatorias del Senado. A.J. En 2001, Koch Records lanzó un álbum tributo titulado "Twisted Forever|Twisted Forever - A Tribute To The Legendary Twisted Sister". Of Filth, Joan Jett, Sebastian Bach, and Hammerfall.

I Am (I'm Me)". Dee Snider gets real about his ups and downs, starting over after being on top of the music industry. He is authentic and honest about what it was like losing it all and how he rose from the ashes! Twisted Sister is an American heavy metal band from New York City. Their work fuses the shock tactics of Alice Cooper, the rebellious mood of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and the extravagant image of glam rock bands such as New York Dolls notably for the makeup. Musically, the band implements elements of traditional heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, along with a style that is similar to early glam metal bands. The band is generally categorized as glam metal for their earlier work, although the band does not consider themselves to be so. Although the band was formed by guitarist Jay Jay French in December 1972, all of their songs were written by Dee Snider from 1976 onward. Snider remarked to Johnny Carson that the proposed name for the band was “This” but was rejected for fear of fans saying “This sucks”. He describes Twisted Sister as “Slade meets Sex Pistols”. Twisted Sister's most well-known hits include “We're Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock”, both popularized in the USA by regular airplay on MTV in the 1980s. Many of the band's songs explore themes of parent vs. child conflicts and criticisms of the educational system. “I don't think Twisted Sister is “glam” because that implies glamor, and we're not glamorous. We should be called “Hid” because we're hideous.” Dee Snider, ‘Interview with Twisted Sister' Picture disc. “When Twisted Sister exploded internationally few people realized that they were an overnight sensation that had been ten years in the making.” From the back cover blurb for “Twisted Sister – The First Official Book! Unreleased 1990 studio album by this hard rock/metal supergroup featuring Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Clive Burr (Iron Maiden), Bernie Torme (Gillan/Ozzy) and Marc Russell. This band was poised for success until the Grunge scene came along and their label decided not to release it due to the changing musical climate. 11 tracks including ‘Hang ‘Em High', ‘Calling For You' and ‘Emaheevull'. Of all the projects Dee Snider has been involved in over the years, the one shrouded in the most mystery was undoubtedly Desperado. First mentioned in heavy metal magazines circa the late '80s, the group appeared to be a promising proposition, as it saw Snider team up with a pair of gentlemen renowned in the metal community — ex-Ian Gillan and Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Bernie Tormé and ex-Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr — with bassist Marc Russell rounding out the quartet. The group had an album ready and raring to go (going as far as having a release date set for May of 1990, and an album title of Bloodied, But Unbowed), but at the 11th hour, the debut was shelved, and the group soon after went the way of the dodo. The album, now under its original title, Ace, has finally seen the light of day 16 years later via the Deadline/Cleopatra label. Upon hearing the music, it quickly becomes apparent that Snider made a conscious effort to eschew the anthemic rock of Twisted Sister in favor of more straight-ahead metal, as evidenced by such tracks as “Gone Bad” and “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter.” But it appears that Ace would have fit in more with the metal landscape a few years earlier than its projected original release date (an era that saw metal's old guard quickly losing their standing to such bands as Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, and Faith No More, with Nirvana waiting on deck). Regardless, the music on Ace is just as worthy as the majority of stuff that was being spun on Headbangers Ball and featured in Rip magazine from around that time. In 1991. Dee fights back by forming his most brutal band yet, Widowmaker. Along with Desperado bassist Mark Russel, Dee enlisted the sonic battle-skills of guitar maestro Al Pitrelli (formerly with Alice Cooper) and drummer Joey Franco (who played on Twisted's last album). With mainstream gone “alternative,” Widowmaker has kept to the independent route to avoid being forced to compromise their artistic vision. Even with poor distribution and virtually no promotion or air-play, they've still forged out a dedicated fan-base of modern rockers. We wanna ROCK! Richard welcomes Douglas Cirignano, writer/researcher, in his attempt to get to the truth behind the JFK assassination, 9/11, the Federal Reserve, Rigged Elections, Suppressed Cancer Cures and other conspiracies of our time. And later, Richard welcomes Jay Jay French, American guitarist, manager and producer, to discuss the current state of Rock and Heavy Metal as well as the history and legacy of of 80s glam-rock icons Twisted Sister. GUESTS: Douglas Cirignano graduated from Long Island University summa cum laude with a degree in History. His interview-articles have appeared on Alex Jones's InforWars.com, disinformation.com, independent.org, in Aventures de 'L Histoire magazine, and on many other websites. Jay Jay French is a founding member and one of the guitarists of the heavy metal band Twisted Sister. French played more than 9000 concert performances. Being an avid runner, French has also completed two New York Marathons, in 1981 and 1986. As a guitar player, manager, producer and executive producer, French has sold over 20 million albums, performed in 34 countries and performed live over 9,000 times.
Jay Jay French, guitarist, manager, and producer is most famous for his role as the founding member and one of the guitarists of the heavy metal band Twisted Sister Long: Jay Jay French explains Twisted Sisters long-term success like it's an iceberg. What you see on the surface is only 10% of what's really there. They've continually reinvested in themselves. Whenever they'd make a little money, instead of just spending it, they'd roll the dice and plow it right back into the group. As Jay has written, "Whether you are an artist or an entrepreneur, your story usually begins with passion, a moment that goes something like this: 'The first time I either witnessed, touched, smelled, felt, heard [this object of passion], I just knew that I would do anything, risk anything to be a part of this life...'" That Big Bang moment truly defines you. Most people can tell you the exact date and time that this tsunami of inspiration and passion washed over their brain cells, rendering them helpless to the immutable forces that drive the human spirit. My Big Bang happened on February 9, 1964 at 8:03 p.m. That night, I (and 73 million other Americans) saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I was 11 years old, but I emphatically told my mother that I wanted to be a rock 'n' roll star on that very night. Over the next couple of weeks, after reading every Beatle magazine that appeared magically the day after the Sullivan show, my actual goal started to crystallize: I wanted to make great rock 'n' roll music, play to screaming girls, get a gold record, and be a millionaire! Like many entrepreneurs who are first starting out, I had no idea how any of this was going to happen. I just knew that it had to happen. But achieving your goals not only takes passion, it takes patience. I did finally get that gold record. It happened in July of 1984, 20 years and five months after I set my goal. It was a long journey, but it taught me every lesson that I ever wanted (and didn't want) to learn, including how to market a brand, how to negotiate deals, how to handle a crisis, and how to manage some big personalities. But without passion, without that Big Bang, I would have never had the drive to get started - or to keep going. Not only is he the lead and rhythm guitar player for Twisted Sister, but he backs up Dee Snider's lead vocals and is the owner of the Twisted Sister trademark. He is the manager of the band's affairs and recently celebrated 40 years as a member. Listening to this interview, you'll understand why they've lasted so long. "Do what you say you're going to do." If you follow that commandment, you stand a good chance of succeeding. ------------What do YOU think of the show?
