The show started in 2003 at WHFR-FM (Dearborn, MI), moved to WGWG-FM (Boiling Springs, NC) in 2006 & Plaza Midwood Community Radio (Charlotte, NC) in 2012, with a brief pit-stop at WLFM-FM (Appleton, WI) in 2004. It phoenixed into a podcast in 2020, thanks to the fine and fabulously furious folks at NRM Streamcast.

This day already! I had blood drawn earlier. When I got back home, Lori went to The Lori Prell Studio in Cocoa Village, Florida…or she at least started to. Die Refrains der Neuseeländischen Indie-Band sind so ansteckend, man möchte die Pandemie ausrufen. Wenn das Quartett den knackigen Riffs diesen typisch vierstimmigen Gesang entgegenschmeisst gehen auch auf dem 4. Album die Regenbogen auf - trotz niederschmetternder Diagnose für Sängerin Liz Stokes. «Straight Line Was A Lie» entstand nach der Feststellung einer Autoimmunerkrankung und diverser Lebensumstellungen für deren Behandlung. Dazu gehören auch Antidepressiva, welche die Wahrnehung und das Gehirn von Stokes spürbar veränderten. Das neue Album ist für sie eine Art Erfahrungsprotokoll: «Was wollte mir mein Gehirn über die letzten zwei Jahre sagen?» Körper und Geist stehen denn auch im Zentrum dieses bittersüssen Wurfs. Liz Stokes inszeniert ihren wunderschönen neuseeländischen Akzent einmal mehr betörend, wenn auch etwas ruhiger und nachdenklicher als auf den Power-Pop-getränkten Vorgängern. Aber wie das Konzept des Albums ja so schön aufgreift: Das Leben wird zwar nicht einfacher, aber spannender, wenn es nicht schnurgerade verläuft.

This kicking Diet Coke trek I'm on is a slow moving one! I truly do know it isn't good for me. To free myself from this self-induced poison, I found a mixture of sparkling mineral water with the juice of half a lime and two liquid ounces of very well aged balsamic vinegar. Miner water adds the bubbles and the burn, the balsamic adds the color and the slight sweetness. Brain is fooled, the body is not. No caffeine!
