BIG, DIFFICULT, FASCINATING QUESTIONS (THAT WE'LL HAVE TO FACE IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE). It seems only fitting that Matt Jordan – with his genetically perfect beard – should assume command of the USS 3Q3D for a conversation that tackles the toughest bioethical questions of our not-at-all distant future. Joined as usual by Amanda Adams and Chris Mikolay, the group wastes no time discussing whether we ought to genetically enhance our children, the second and third order consequences of dramatically increasing lifespans, and whether it's a good idea to implant a computer chip in our heads to make us a whole lot smarter. The questions are as good as the drinks (and in this episode, the drinks are *chef's kiss*), and resulting conversation is so strong that it's hard to believe it wasn't held by superhumans from the future.      Drinks in this Episode: Last Word coctkail >> 3/4 ounce gin; 3/4 ounce green Chartreuse; 3/4 ounce maraschino liqueur; 3/4 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed; Garnish: brandied cherry (optional). Add the gin, green Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur and lime juice into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe glass and enjoy on your spaceship to Mars.  Sakura Sunrise cocktail >> 1 ½ ounce Roku gin; ½ ounce simple syrup; ¾ ounce grapefruit juice; ½ ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed; splash of St. Germain; 3 dashes Lavender bitters. Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a coupe. Enjoy it anywhere, but ideally at a fancy bar on the North Shore of Hawaii so you can humblebrag about it later during a podcast recording.  Lemon Drop cocktail >> 2 ounces vodka; 1/2 ounce triple sec; 1 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed; 1 ounce simple syrup. Garnish: sugar rim. Coat the rim of a cocktail glass with sugar and set aside (do this a few minutes ahead so the sugar can dry and adhere well to the glass). Add the vodka, triple sec, lemon juice and simple syrup to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into the prepared glass, take a sip, and immediately declare how much you enjoyed Lemonheads as a kid.  If you've been enjoying the 3Q3D podcast, please subscribe and consider giving us a rating, a review, or sharing an episode with a friend. Follow our social sites here: Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/3drinkspodcast/?hl=en  Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/3Drinkspodcast

«Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory» ist unser brandneues Sounds! Welcome to Episode 55 of TableSetters! Today, we're joined by Matt Devine, one of the voices behind Devine Sports Gospel, your go-to source for all things San Diego Padres. Known for his humor and sharp takes, Matt is a must-follow for Padres fans. Be sure to check out his Instagram @DevineSportsGospel and X @DevineGospel for all the latest updates and bold opinions. We kick things off with a look at how Devine Sports Gospel came to be. Matt takes us behind the scenes of the platform's origin story and what makes it such a unique voice in Padres fandom. From there, we dive into the recent Roki Sasaki signing. Just before the deal with the Dodgers went down, Devine Sports Gospel stirred up some conversation about how Dodgers fans would feel if they missed out on Sasaki. With the signing official, we reflect on the drama that led to Sasaki's move to LA. Next, we pay tribute to the late Peter Seidler, whose impact on Padres fans and the San Diego community was immense. Matt shares his thoughts on Seidler's legacy and what it means for the Padres' future. Speaking of the future, we discuss the Padres' ongoing ownership drama and what it could mean for the team's direction. We shift gears to the 2024 NLDS, where the Padres led the Dodgers 2-1. Matt shares his thoughts on the thrilling energy and the decision to start Dylan Cease on three days' rest in Game 4. Then we dig into trade rumors surrounding Dylan Cease and Robert Suarez and how these moves could affect the Padres' 2025 roster. Plus, Matt gives his take on whether the Padres are better off with Luis Arraez after watching him up close. The Padres' offseason has been tough, with WAR projections remaining flat. Matt talks about the moves he hopes for before Spring Training and whether he sees a silver lining. Then, we play a fun "life depends on it" game: Who's more likely to win an MVP in the next few years—Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., or Jackson Merrill? Matt's answer is sure to spark some debate! We also look to the future of the Padres, with Matt sharing which prospect excites him the most. Plus, we discuss the rumored tension between Juan Soto and Manny Machado—was it well-known locally? Matt offers his perspective. In a lighter moment, Matt shares the hilarious backstory behind his comment about throwing Lemonheads at Brian Giles after a social media comparison with Juan Soto. Finally, we reflect on Joe Musgrove's iconic shiny ear moment from the 2022 playoffs. Matt gives his take on that unforgettable sight. We wrap it all up with a fun question: who makes Matt's Mount Rushmore of San Diego athletes and why? Follow us for more:

In this episode of 'Seeing Them Live,' Charles explores the multifaceted career of Ken Reid, a Boston-based comedian, former punk band member, and podcast host. Ken reflects on his diverse experiences, from his early days in the 90s punk band '30 Seconds Over Tokyo' to his extensive comedy career, which includes two comedy albums and a successful podcast 'TV Guidance Counselor.'He humorously shares early concert anecdotes, including winning tickets through radio contests and memorable shows like the Aerosmith concert and a unique collaboration between David Bowie and Nine Inch Nails. The discussion reveals Ken's passion for live performances and his impact on the entertainment industry over two decades, underscoring his transition from music to comedy and podcasting. Prompted by a story Charles shares where Michael Stipe asked Charles for his Batman shirt after an REM show, Ken and Charles do a deep dive into the portrayal of Joker by Cesar Romero in the original Batman series. They explore Romero's unique take on the character, the impact it had on the show's success, and how it influenced perceptions of the Joker in pop culture. The episode also dives into remarkable concert stories, such as The Descendants' comeback tour and intense punk shows at Boston's Rathskeller, portrayed through vivid recollections of chaotic and energetic performances. Additionally, the hosts and Ken discuss the evolving concert culture, contrasting the violent punk shows of the past with today's more positive festival atmosphere. This engaging narrative captures the spirit of live music and the raw energy of punk rock, while showcasing Ken Reid's journey from punk singer to a successful comedian and podcast host with over 700 episodes of 'TV Guidance Counselor.' He told a story of going through the Lincoln Tunnel and getting confused when he got into NYC and wound up back in the Tunnel to NJ. Hour 2 The NFL season kicks off Thursday and before you know it we'll be in week 10. Boomer wonders who has a higher level of expectations: Jets, Knicks or Rangers. Gio said it's the Jets, as they have to win this year. Boomer said the NFL gave them a schedule to help with that. Boomer said the Jets need to be 6-2 to start the season. Aaron Rodgers is going on the road to San Francisco after coming off his injury and not playing in any preseason games. Rodgers' own history shows not to expect much from him the first few weeks of the season. Gio would like to bring back the bow and curtsy as a show of respect to each other. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Darius Slay talking about going to Brazil. He doesn't want to go because they've been warned about the high crime rate. Giancarlo Stanton homered as the Yankees beat the Rangers. Boston College upset Florida State, who are now 0-2 to start the season. In the final segment of the hour, Al went to see the Lemonheads and has had it with middle aged guys at concerts. Gio's favorite, Jordan Davis, is playing a show in Long Island and has become a logistical nightmare for Gio. Hour 3 We talked about quarterbacks under pressure this season. Boomer said number 1 is Deshaun Watson because of what the Browns paid for him. Both Daneil Jones and Aaron Rodgers are both under pressure according to Gio. Boomer went through the rest of the list but Gio wasn't feeling it. Brady from California called in and he is incoherent. Jerry is here for an update and starts with the Yankees beating the Rangers as Stanton hit his 25th HR of the season. The Mets took game 1 from the Red Sox. Saquon Barkley talked about the upcoming game in Brazil. In the final segment of the hour, a caller wants the NFL to cancel the game in Brazil because of the free speech limits on its people in regards to the government banning Twitter. Hour 4 Gio is seeing a lot of Giants ‘over' talk and he can't get on board with that. Boomer said we are going to see a ton of injuries in week one like we always do. Gio said there are going to be a lot of ‘schlub' quarterbacks. Mike White went from the Jets to the Dolphins and now to the Bills. Boomer said it wouldn't shock him if Kirk Cousins is the Jets or Giants QB next season. Boomer can't believe the Raiders didn't trade Davante Adams. Bill Belichick said nice things about the Jets, particularly Breece Hall. Boomer thinks Bill hates the Patriots more than the Jets and he might be interested in coaching them next year. We talked about Tom Brady's broadcasting career that starts Sunday afternoon. Jerry returns for his final update of the day but first we talked about Jerry playing golf with Mike Francesa. Jerry starts with the Mets beating the Red Sox and are now ½ game out of the final wild card spot. The Yankees beat the Rangers but Gerrit Cole left with a calf cramp. The Moment of T ...

First of all, we recorded on Brooke Dillman's actual birthday. That was fun. To celebrate, we welcomed our first-ever guest Adam Grosswirth to the podcast. He tipped us off to the disgusting storyline about Polly & Lolly wanting to fuck the same guy...and both basically being okay with the fact that they might just do that. It's a truly upsetting journey, that we only cover the tiniest fraction of. Oh man, the Mac-El-Dee sure loves writing about this tired masturbatory fantasy. They're both in love with a guy named Alistair, who appears to be in his mid-30s. But SURPRISE! He's 16. Look at a picture. You won't believe it either. He's as sixteen as any of the cast members of Beverly Hills 90210 were. Even less so. Anyway, Alistair's courtship of the twins begins with him asking both of them out on one date, because he doesn't want to choose. Also, they're obviously not individual human beings but identical fantasy fucktoys! Seems impossible that someone would ever accuse Mac-El-Dee of being a feminist. July 20, 2024, marks 10 years since Cork venue the Pavilion, run by Pat Conway, Stevie G and Joe Kelly, closed its doors. It left an indelible mark on me and so many music lovers. Friendships were formed there, ideas were hatched, bands were watched, and DJs filled the floors. On this episode of the TPOE podcast, a whole host of the people who loved the Pav recall the six years when the recession took hold of Ireland and the Pavilion opened its doors. The first gig was Evan Dando and the Lemonheads in April 2008. The following year, Kanye West and the xx both graced its stage and the Pav was up and running. Theo Parrish, King Britt, the Pharcyde, Roy Ayers, Floating Points, Franz Ferdinand Eddie Reader, Lee Fields, Candi Staton, NASA, Theesatisfaction, Shabazz Palaces, Sly and Robbie, Lonnie Liston Smith, and Rakim are just some of the big international acts who played the Pav in that time. It also hosted and supported so many Irish acts, from Altered Hours to Hozier, Saint Yorda to Gilla Band. There were club nights like Go Deep, Sunday Times and Floating Joints which called the Pav home over the years. We hear about all of these and more over the course of this episode charting one of the best venues the country has ever seen. We've weathered several recessions and a pandemic, but there's an ever-present threat of ... Green Fuz. It all started back in 1968, when The Green Fuz had everything go wrong at the Crossroads Cafe in Bridgeport, Texas, and there's been several sightings of the escaped mold spores ever since. The original is primo primitive, a legendary tune amongst the garage gang - just ask your local weirdo with a Prince Valiant haircut. But why is there a Max Roach solo in there? We of course discuss the version by The Cramps, and we throw in a spaghetti western adaptation by The Lemonheads, plus there's a Farsi-language version by Habibi! You better run!!

The band released three great albums on Taang!, but it wasn't until after signing to Atlantic and releasing It's a Shame About Ray in 1992 that the band broke through. While there have been numerous ups and downs, personnel changes, a six-year hiatus, during which Evan released a wonderful album under his own name, The Lemonheads have endured through the decades.
