The University of Kansas finished the season with its four best games. Amongst those, they Beat Texas in Austin. A huge win for Kansas, their first Big 12 Road win since 2008 that has the potential to expedite the turnaround in Lawrence. Head Coach Lance Leipold has his work cut out for him, he is working on fixing the roster left in the wake of Les Miles leaving the program. Kansas has a small recruiting class of fourteen players this year, seven high school signees and seven transfer players. They ranked fourth in the Big 12 in transfer portal signings, a feat that is getting national attention. Huge additions like Ky Thomas from Minnesota and Sevion Morrison hope to create a great backfield trio with returner Devin Neal and propel this Kansas football program forward. Can KU win more Big 12 games this year with a full spring and fall under Lance Leipold? Texas Tech is coming off of a rollercoaster of a season last year. Finishing 7-6 after starting 5-3. They played 3 quarterbacks and fired their coach midseason. Some would call that a success considering the circumstances. Now Texas Tech brings in Head Coach Joey McGuire who is an excellent recruiter as well as a hype man. They also bring in offensive coordinator Zach Kittley who led the most dynamic offense in the country last season, and bring defensive coordinator Tim Deruyter who has an excellent track record. Texas Tech currently has the 2nd ranked recruiting class in 2023, but can they get it done in 2022?On paper, Texas Tech has done all of the right things to set themselves up for success. With a some key pieces returning like Tajh Brooks and Krishon Merriweather, can Tech get over the hump and compete for a Big 12 title? #TCU #riffram #big122021 was a year of turmoil for the TCU Horned Frogs, long time head coach Gary Patterson and the school parted ways. Interim head coach Jerry Kill went 2-1 and then left for New Mexico State. This led them to the hire of Sonny Dykes from SMU. Dykes comes to TCU with a QB battle on his hands right away between Chandler Morris and Max Duggan and loses key pieces on a defense that already wasn't very good. Can Sonny Dykes rebuild another program yet again? With a 28th-ranked recruiting class, he hopes to jumpstart the rebuild right away, but just how good can TCU be in 2022? Chris Klieman and the Wildcats finished 8-5 with an impressive bowl win over LSU in 2021. Looking ahead to 2022, they will have a new QB under center, some returning weapons, and a new offensive coordinator. Can Kansas State compete in the Big 12 this year? First-year offensive coordinator Collin Klein, yes that Collin Klein, will have Adrian Martinez under center and Deuce Vaughn in the backfield, a pairing that could be trouble for the rest of the conference. Daniel Green returns after leading the team in tackles in 2021 and looks to build on a great previous season. With guys like Felix Anudike-Uzomah on the d-line, and transfer Kobe Savage coming in, there are playmakers at each level of this defense. Coming off of a 9-3 record in 2020, Iowa State was poised to make a run at the Big 12 title. They failed to make a run at the conference title and finished 7-6 in what would be considered a letdown of a season. Now Matt Campbell graduates 23 seniors, loses 8 of 11 defensive starters, and they lose their Quarterback who has rewritten the record books at Iowa State. They also lose a dominant Running Back in Breece Hall who looks to be the first back off the board in the NFL Draft come April. Can Matt Campbell coach his way to contention in 2022? #IowaState #CycloneNation #Collegefootball #Big12 Iowa State will be anchored by returners Hunter Dekkers, Will McDonald, and Xavier Hutchinson, the Cyclones look to bounce back this upcoming fall season. They will get some immediate assistance from the strongest recruiting class in school history (30th in the nation) that includes two strong receivers in Greg Gaines III (4 star) and Jason Essex (3 star). They also got a great addition to their defensive line in Hunter Deyo (4 star). Join us as we recap their 2021 season, discuss their incoming players, and look at their schedule this fall.
Dave Aranda led an amazing resurgence for the Baylor Bears in 2021. They went 12-2, won the Big 12 Championship, and went on to win the Sugar Bowl against Ole Miss. Sending multiple players off to the NFL, Baylor will lean on returners and incoming freshmen to reestablish their great defense and strong running game.#Big12Football #BaylorBears #SicEm Baylor will have to replace a lot of production on the back end of their defense. Losing 3 star players to the draft this spring is going to be tough to do. Jalen Pitre, Terrel Bernard, and JT Woods all leave Baylor for the NFL. Will the incoming freshman and returners do enough to keep this unit going? Will transfer Jaxon Player bring the impact we think he will? Jeff Grimes has a tough decision to make this fall. Gerry Bohanon or Blake Shapen, both capable players who have very different playstyles. Whoever starts under center for the Bears this fall will greatly change the way this offense operates. Aranda has established a culture at Baylor, but how strong that culture remains to be seen. This fall will be an interesting one for the Baylor Bears
