Things Discussed: Craig Ross introduces the MGoBlog Rub Some Dirt On It player of the week. What's the offense look like with Bryce? Not a spread, some RPO, some downfield passing, most of that off play-action. Opponents are going to bring safeties down—Oklahoma runs a Venables defense that wants to attack, so you have to punish that. Remember 2021 Georgia when JJ came in? He had some simple reads, but things opened up because he could physically get certain types of throws further downfield, increased the spacing between receivers. RPOs? Chip Lindsey's job is to make what you do work, not rewrite the offensive script. There will be tag RPOs where the read is more of a "run-unless"—it's not going to be like Stanford's long mesh where the read is the point. It's a check on bad behavior so they can do their thing, which is run off-tackle. Sam: Program philosophy isn't to allow the defense to set what you're going to do. Brian wants to see Bredeson used on those Aaron Shea dumpoffs more often because you freak out when he's coming your way. Mikey Keene? He's got a shoulder injury. You don't get to choose when the injury is healed; he will probably be the QB2 when he's back. Brady Norton: Not like last year. If they were down to two RGs and they were Efobi and Hattar and Norton won it would concern us, but it was Efobi-Norton two weeks ago. Concern is left tackle; they were talking about replacing Link with a true freshman before Babalola got hurt. Evan Link will start, Blake Frazier will play; Blake has to prove he's durable because he's coming off a knee injury, and he has to be stronger in the run game because he's 290-something. If Link isn't clear of Frazier right now that's an issue. DT depth chart: People were surprised that Trey Pierce was ahead of Damon Payne, but we've been saying that all offseason. You want that: Trey has eligibility next year and showed some talent. Opening weened for CFB: What's up with Ohio State and their new coordinators? Probably going to be fine with Hartline because he will just say throw it to Jeremiah Smith and…yeah that works. Matt Patricia has two great players in the back-seven but they are going to be just okay at D-tackle (I like the end they picked up from UNC). Maybe Matt Patricia is here to bottom out the culture, because as soon as he left Detroit and Philadelphia those locker rooms become two of the best in the NFL. Quick New Mexico preview: They have a 246 pound defensive tackle and a backfooting QB who's going to punt it up to a former Iowa receiver that might be injured.

Preview de Oklahoma avec Geoffrey et Baptiste où ils essaient de prévoir la saison à venir des sooners une des équipes les plus imprévisibles et avec un défi de grande taiile pour ce programme historique
Oklahoma Sooners Head Coach Brent Venables takes to the podium at 2025 SEC Media Days.
Carl and Mike get into some more SEC talk and share thoughts on Texas and whether or not the Longhorns are becoming "the bad guys" and discuss if Steve Sarkisian will be able to get over the hump and win the championship. They then share thoughts on Oklahoma and why Brent Venables may not have made his mark and with a new AD taking over Sooners athletics, they believe Venables will have to "win some games" as his relationship with the new AD may not be established enough to create job security.
HR2 - 2025 could be year Brent Venables & Oklahoma become legit contenders In hour two Abe Gordon, filling in for Mike Johnson, Beau Morgan, and Ali Mac give a season preview to all of the teams presenting at SEC Media Days today, Alabama, Mississippi State, Florida, and Oklahoma. Abe, Ali, and Beau also explain why they think Oklahoma could be a dark horse in the SEC this year. The Morning Shift crew continues hour two by spending some time with National Championship quarterback, and National Championship Offensive MVP for the 2007 LSU Tigers Matt Fylnn! Abe, Ali, Beau, and Matt discuss that 2007 LSU team going for what seemed like every fourth down in their game against Florida during their 2007 National Title season, what it was like for Matt to play in Death Valley during the 2007 National Title season, the triple overtime game versus Arkansas in the 2007 National Title season, and how much they practiced the fake field goal play that they used in the Florida game in the 2007 National Title season. Finally, The Morning Shift crew closes out hour two by spending some time with former Alabama quarterback, starting quarterback for Alabama's 2009 National Championship team, and now college football analyst for ESPN Greg McElroy! Abe, Ali, and Beau discuss if Greg considers himself a media member, why Ty Simpson isn't at SEC Media days, if it's an issue that Ty hasn't won the quarterback job yet, Greg also tells his favorite Mike Johnson story, and explains what his favorite thing about Mike Johnson is. Abe, Ali, Beau, and Greg also talk about who Greg thinks is the best quarterback in the SEC right now, and what Alabama Head Coach Kalen DeBoer has to do to silence some of the outside noise of the critics.
Tyler McComas with KREF Radio in Norman joined the 3 Man Front crew and gave us his overall assessment of Oklahoma's first year in the SEC and the floor for Venables to keep his job! Plus, he gave his views of year two of Kalen DeBoer, who will be top four in the SEC, and what SEC team might surprise us! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We talk about the VERY good and incredible Oklahoma coach.
David Venables is the European director for the American Hardwood Export Council. Over the last 20 years, the organisation has created an array of extraordinary installations, sculptures and products – working with the likes of Alison Brooks, Waugh Thistleton, Heatherwick Studio, Jaime Hayon, Benedetta Tagliabue, and Stefan Diez to name just a few – that extoll the virtues of wood in general and US hardwood in particular. Its latest installation. No. 1 Common, will launch at this year's Material Matters Copenhagen, which runs from 18-20 June at Gammel Dok, Christianshavn, and includes new pieces from Andu Masebo, Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng, and Daniel Schofield. Importantly, David is someone steeped in the wood industry from birth. This is a man who really knows his material. In this episode we talk about: AHEC's new installation at Material Matters and why it's vital to promote what nature provides; how the organisation chooses the architects and designers it works with; his post-Covid desire to promote a ‘lost' generation of creatives; the relationship between fashion and wood; the history of the US hardwood forest and why it's an environmental success story; the benefits of cutting down trees; President Trump, tariffs and selling American materials globally; growing up in the family saw mill; being fired as a salesperson; and, ultimately, why wood is his passion. Grant's feeling a bit more hopeful about the 2025 season lately, while Lee talks about having reasonable hope compared to blind hope. Nevertheless the vibes coming out of spring ball have been pretty good, particularly surrounding the WRs. Grant says it's reasonable to be excited about many parts of the roster, but there are 3-4 position groups with serious questions (2:05). We watched practice video of pass catchers taking on DBs in 1-on-1s and we've got a lot of thoughts. Probably the most we've talked about the tight ends in a long time (18:20). We also got 1-on-1s of the O-Line taking on the D-Line. Several practice thoughts commence. It seems reasonable to expect David Stone to make a jump based on the evidence on hand (37:35). It appears Lee's conspiracy theory about Gentry Williams was wrong (50:05). Brent Venables appeared with Josh Pate in a recent interview. Lee has many thoughts-- most of them negative, but we did learn at least a couple of things (53:40). Trae Young is now the assistant GM for men's basketball, but what does that mean? Rants about players transferring all the time (1:10:20). Lamenting the death of the traditional spring game (1:19:30). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets

Who are the nation's top five Transfer Portal quarterbacks? I broke my list based on accuracy, playmaking ability, and experience. Combined with the coaching and talent at the new programs these five quarterbacks will play with, it's a very competitive list. That's here on
Bobby Couch had a big job at Clemson when he was a major fundraiser for IPTAY. But that's not what Dan Radakovich was angry about when he called Couch to his office one day a decade or so ago. Radakovich wanted to talk to Couch about his other, more unofficial job: Commissioner of the Noon Time Basketball Association. The NTBA, played on weekdays, was largely athletics department staffers and personnel from the football and basketball teams. But one day an outsider showed up wearing Gamecock gear, and Dabo Swinney gave him some grief over it. The guy didn't take kindly to it, and the confrontation got nasty and was about to get physical. The spat was resolved, but it got the attention of Radakovich and the ritual NTBA games were put on a lengthy hiatus while Couch could trim the roster of invitees. "Here I am getting called to the principal's office not as a senior associate director of IPTAY, but for my role as NTBA commissioner," Couch said. "He's basically telling me I've got to shut this thing down. "Of course the first person who called me after we shut it down and asked me what the heck was going on was Coach Swinney, because he wanted to get back out on the court. I'm like: 'Hey dude. We had to shut this thing down because of you.'" Couch also remembers Brent Venables showing up to a noontime game wearing a mouthpiece. The ferocious Venables ended up accidentally jabbing Couch in face and giving him a huge black eye. Two days later, Couch had to speak to a large donor group the day the Tigers were facing Georgia in Athens. Those are just two of many memories that come flooding back about the NTBA days with Clemson (and NTBA) alum Will Wade about to face Clemson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. We also interview Chad Lampman, a Clemson alum who preceded Couch as NTBA commissioner before he left for a position at Duke where he's been for 15 years. And UNC Asheville basketball coach Michael Morrell joins the podcast to share his most vivid memories of the NTBA. To Morrell, those games encapsulated the rare bond at Clemson shared among the staffs regardless of sport. "There's just something different about that place, man," said Morrell, who was on Oliver Purnell's staff. "There's just something different there that's special. "I always thought it was cool how the football and basketball staffs there found ways to have relationships. I was on the basketball staff at Texas for three years, and no offense to Texas but I didn't even know the football coaches there. Didn't even know them. "But at Clemson you knew everybody, man. And it still seems like it's the same for them there now. Gosh, man. What a cool place to be a player, a coach, a writer or whatever. Because it's not that way everywhere."

The guys are back and jump right into what Brent Venables said Wednesday at his pre-spring press conference. Venables had another incredibly long opening statement. He also announced players who will not be active during spring practice (2:05). Venables also confirmed that he did not call OU's defense in 2024 (16:30). OU will not have a spring game in 2025. Grant is not happy about college football slowly transitioning to more of a pro football model. Can the "Crimson Combine" be successful (19:10)? Thoughts on Jim Nagy being named OU's GM. What do we hope he's good at? Is the NFL front office model the future?
